If you didn’t notice, The Doctor only attacked Rick ONCE the whole fight, the disabling of Rick’s implants causing an explosion. Everything else was either deflecting attacks or disabling weaponry nearly harmlessly. The Doctor won mostly IN CHARACTER.
Rick technically getting killed by his own actions is such a fitting way to end a fight on both Rick and The Doctor's end.
First death battle with a pacifist winner. No one quite does it like the Doctor.

There is actually an in-universe reason why the war doctor wasn't counted if you wanna bring up the war doctor not being counted is because he himself doesn't count him as "the doctor". He is one who fought and was killed during the time war and that goes against what he promised when he chose his name The Doctor "a promise never to be cruel or cowardly; to never give up, and never give in" and he feels his action in the war goes against that
I think we should just refer to John Hurt as "The Warrior".

I just want to say that the reason why The Doctor has a lower age in-universe after 7 is explained in the TV Movie with Paul McGann. He basically restarted counting because he wanted to.
It wasn’t because he wanted to, it’s cause the 8th doctor has a notorious terrible memory, big finish audio made constant jokes at how bad it was so it was the war doctor that started to re count, we know this as his age of 800 years then lines up with the rest of the modern doctors.
Matt Smith’s Doctor said at one point “I don’t even know if I’m lying about my age, that’s how old I am.”
Yeah, 12 also said he just has lost count, and that's not even accounting for The Timeless Child so really god knows how old The Doctor is

If Goku is up against Silver Age Superman, he’s screwed. After all, since Silver Age Supes can time travel, what’s stopping him from just going back in time to kill baby Goku?
@@eon1014 Goku is fighting Superman as composite (both of them), so Heroes Goku is going up against Post, Pre, Silver and Golden Aged Superman.

I know people said Rick should have shot the Doctor when Regenerating, but he hadto shoot when he was changing, not before or after, and Rick's gun was wrecked before he started the regen started
Yeah, it was clearly an intentional move, hence why he says "Hurry up".
@@Redrunner613 not only that he shot him twice. One shot for each heart making sure the Doctor would be forced to regenerate.
Ok, so I should probably clarify for you guys that the reason why the Doctor didn’t regenerate into a new doctor is because before the process completed, Doctor tricked Rick into shooting himself with the D-Mat.
Rick got erased from all of space and time and because of that, all his influence went along with him, which is why in the next scene you see the Doctor talking to Morty. Time basically reset before the fight, but Rick isn’t there to be the aggressor, so it ends peacefully instead.
So the reason why the Doctor stays the same is because Rick got deleted, the fight never happened and he never got shot, so there was no need to regenerate.
Side note: even assuming I’m reaching and that isn’t the case, canonically in Doctor Who (unless I’m somehow horribly misremembering) the 10th Doctor has a habit of coming back. In his own series he regenerated twice into himself, and now technically he’s come back as the 14th Doctor.
So without all the “timey-wimey” bullshit, it still makes sense for the Doctor to just regen back into himself.
I do think the latter is more likely, since Rick's influence can still be seen in the fact that, well, the Space Cruiser was still there.

@@Redrunner613 The DeMat gun does that actually! The way that spacetime and existence erasure works in Doctor Who is, in the Doctor's own words "wibbly-wobbly".
There is a sort of logic to it, but exactly how that logic works is intentionally left vague.
But basically, when a person is erased from reality, either by the DeMat gun or by the Crack in Time or whatever, the universe tries to shape reality around that disappearance in such a way that requires the fewest changes.
Morty is still out in the Space Cruiser because it requires the fewest changes to just let him continue being there, having made the ship himself (hence why he is unsure when the Doctor asks if he made it himself, because he probably did, but doesn't know how or why).
It's easier to do that than to completely rewrite the histories of EVERY BEING that Rick and Morty ever interacted with together.
Meanwhile the events of the fight basically only affect The Doctor and the TARDIS and just resetting them to their pre-fight conditions is much easier for reality to mold around.
Plus, being an acausal Time Lord might allow the Doctor to decide for himself if he wants to allow himself to be retconned by Rick never having existed. I don't know if he's ever done that before, but compared to other things he HAS done it wouldn't even slightly surprise me.
It's weird, sure, but there are plenty of examples of reality erasure working that way in the show.

The season is nearly done and we still get another matchup nobody expected. I am down for the next fight to see the trilogy end, but this episode was great as well in detail and time put in the animation.
Great reaction overall, and man is the season the most challenging matchups to watch.
24:42 I mean, in the OG series it was indeed The Tenth Doctor who managed to regenerate into an identical copy of himself thanks to a previously severed hand of his and “narcissism”.
24:40 he didn’t regenerate as himself (even though this doctor did do that) the D-Mat erased Rick from time meaning the fight that happened never happened as a result. So the doctor didn’t need to regenerate.

@@Redrunner613 If you look at the ship after the d-mat, it's a lot more... ramshackle. Most likely the D-Mat rearranged things so that everything about the events leading up to the battle took place, just without Rick. Thus, post-erasure Morty may actually be a lot smarter in order to make the newly junky ship, just to make the timeline run smoothly.

The person and any memories of them are gone, but everything else remains.

Also no, the ship looks exactly the same at the beginning and end, its model did not change.
8:32 pickles are fruit, it’s true. Cucumbers are a fruit that are treated like vegetables in the cooking world, kind of like tomatoes, so if you pickled a cucumber to make it a pickle, it’s still a fruit, just… pickled. I had to double check to make sure they were right about pickles being a fruit.

I guess it was my assumption that the Ricks he gathered were Alt versions, but I suppose they could just be clones.
Even with that though, why would Morty think he built the ship, unless reality was filling in the blank left by a lack of Rick?
- (I think it's safer to just go in with the idea that he regenned, has less holes, considering there is precedent of him just kinda cancelling a regeneration midway)

Timelords are not effected by cause and effect like others, so Rick being erased had no impact on him.
It’s probably similar to what happened with 11, he released a huge burst of energy but only reverted to a younger version of himself, only regenerating properly after.

since Rick was Erased from History that means the fight didn't happened. So that is why the Doctor stayed the same in the end

@@darklord99100 Not sure, they don't actually elaborate that deep in the episode here, Dummi mentions the potential paradox it entails, but they never actually say any of that happens legitimately.
I'm just saying you can't have one without the other, logically speaking. Making it more likely that the Doctor regenned, then returned to where Morty was at the start of the fight to send him off.

We have a character returning for the third time to Death Battle after a killer first episode and an underwhelming second, but not as a finale or anniversary, but as the second to last episode of a banger season.
Speaking of that, is Ben secretly telling us that he and the crew are cooking the spiritual successor of All Might vs Might Guy as the finale?

What these guys said, the comment Ben made about Superman having limits isn't cuz they're using a specific version, it's just him making fun of Goku VS Superman 2, cuz a statement like that is pretty stupid by their modern standards.

The doctor didn't Regenerate as himself at the end. Time resetted back to when the ship crashed in to the tardis. Rick was hit by the D-Mat reality erasure gun. Which completely erased him from reality to the point where it's like he never existed in the first place. Since Rick no longer exists after that there would be no fight in the first place cause rick isnt there to really start a fight.... OK yeah so basically like what the doctor would put its just a bunch of wibbly wobbly timey whimmy stuff that can get very confusing for most people to understand.

I don't think anyone's commented it here, but if you look at Goku VS Superman 1, you'll see it has "The Original Classic" added to it, and Goku VS Superman 2 has "The Irrelevant Squeal" to it.
I believe Goku VS Superman 3 is gonna be a redemption/aplogai of what Goku VS Superman 2 was (which I haven't watched but heard it was just saying a that Superman just wins cause he is "Boring"). It's definitely a good thing they did this as the pre-season finale, cause if they DID do this as the season finale, the community would be in MORE flames than it already is currently.

The only excuse for them doing this again is because DBS' "universe destroying shockwave" fate; when the original GvS had to make shit up.

@@ligtningdog6399 To be fair, it has been 6+ years since GvS 2, and both Goku and Superman have gained MANY things since then. Also Death Battle has evolved from very Iffy Calculations, I'm sure with this one they'll be way more accurate and quote on quote "fair".
(Also, since I didn't say it in the original comment, I've heard that GvS 3 is gonna be the sort-of Reboot/Retelling of GvS 2 like how Mario VS Sonic 2 was for the original Mario VS Sonic.)

Technically 7 getting shot wasn't what started the regeneration, the bullet was removed and he would have recovered.
It was because Grace was mucking about his insides that killed him and started the regeneration.
For the final I'm predicting it might be Yugi vs Ash simply for the fact if they wanna do it justice they need a butt load of models and that take final money
Rick vs Doctor is in my top 8 and top 6. And next time, I had my first copium when MY BOI Vader lost to Obito and now I am preparing for my second when MY BOI Goku faces Superman.
When I saw who’s fighting next I went “At least make it Xeno Goku” and I actually heard someone say today it’s “confirmed” to be Xeno Goku vs the strongest Superman apparently. So if that’s actually the case then it’s going to be more interesting.

They used main Goku as a character, so, no, probably not. They just gave him feats and abilities from elsewhere.

I don't know if it's just me, or were the audio levels for everyone a bit... louder than the video itself? It was really hard to focus on the latter when people were talking.
Putting that alongside the long trivia tangents, and it felt like it was extremely easy for some key facts that would be used in the fight to just... slip them by.
Not to say they weren't enjoyable; it still was. But it's the first episode I've seen that has poibts that made the viewing more difficult than intended.
Our voices are meant to drown out the video, that part's intentional, if anyone wants to hear what's said, they can just watch the actual Episode.

To clarify this to you, Ben was saying that Superman *in general*, has limits, not that this version has limits specifically. Infinite Frontier is just what the modern comic run is calling itself, and it includes basically every Superman story from the comics and makes them canon. Him saying "Superman has limits ;)" was just him making fun of Goku VS Superman 2 for saying he didn't.

not to be an asshole but you guys underestimate ricks power. He casually once slaughtered an entire village with his goofy tools. Any other episode usually has him casually turning on something on his wrist that creates an invisible barrier to shield him, and etc, yall really nerfed rick in this episode. great animation tho and voice acting like always
