With the scarecrow, mirror, and event horizon things those were punishments. They attacked and tracked the doctor trying to use him to become immortal. So he just tried to hide but they went and started to kill bystanders. so he made sure they would live forever. @@kizukun001 The episode doesn't actually specify where the father ends up imprisoned. The narration talks about the chains and the accompanying visual shows him being cast into some sort of pit, but the location is ambiguous.

When it comes to the Doctor committing genocide, what's important to take into account is his mentality and how it affected him. I don't know too much about Rick other than barely the first few seasons, but his character seems to indicate an alienation from the deaths he causes, especially when it comes to other versions of himself if he indeed did that since nothing really matters based on him being a "nihilist know-it-all". It's one thing to kill people because you just don't really care, but it's an entirely other thing if someone who values peace commits the ultimate act of violence. From this, it is arguably the latter that is more dangerous (even if he didn't actually commit genocide but that's besides the point)
But EVERY version of the Doctor saved the planet, but -- due to the timelines getting SUPER muddled -- they all forgot that it happened. The Doctor remembers *having* the weapon to obliterate Gallifrey and the Daleks, but just assumed that it was used to obliterate the planet.
So the three punishments they stated were three of the 4 family members of a family that wished to be immortal, and stole lives of others to do it. The father, whom they skipped, was bound in unbreakable chains and lashed to the core of a dead planet, then sealed in. He made sure that each and every one of them got their wish, they WOULD live forever, because he would Never Let Them Die.
btw they had to nerf the doctor for this battle he would have one shot him if he had access to the omniversal spectrum/the glory or the lux aeterna the doctor who extended media is crazy
So the thing with the original satan was that it was a being that exuded such malevolence, threat, pure evil, and wish for the death of all things, that every culture in every part of the living universe created some form or another of evil god based upon him. Some claimed it to be evil ancestors, some gave the form to other horrible beings on the planet, and so on. But, every version was not but a weak, rippling shadow cast from a cell held so tight that no shadows could escape.
Oh, also the supposed weakness of the sonic screwdriver (wood) is not so much a case of it cannot work, but more that it takes more time, he has bypassed that more than a few times.
I've heard this next match will be a modern remake of the fight, and Ben Singer posted a tweet saying that they'll be compositing Dragon Ball Heroes for Goku and Infinite Frontier for Superman. Note: I would mention that both GVS 1 & 2 were updated on the Death Battle Channel in both titles and description saying they were outdated and inaccurate. So, despite what they said back then, Ben Singer is open on doing a Re-analysis on the matchup, hopefully to fix the missteps they had in both of their previous episodes they did with these too.
For the *why* are they doing a round 3 of Goku vs Superman is because they said they've grown to dislike and disown Goku vs Superman 2 overtime for ruining the reputation and characterization of both characters to the point that Ben Singer, a.k.a. the voice of Wiz/creator of Death Battle has stated that Goku vs Superman 2 is his most hated episode they've ever done, they've even changed the title for "Goku vs Superman 2" to " Goku vs Superman: the irrelevant sequel". But to avoid doing the same stuff, it's a Composite for both, so atleast the animation will be different. Not saying I wanted this either, I wanted Goku vs Jin Mori and Optimus Prime vs Superman myself, but I can see why they wanted to do this again.
Just so you know, they didnt even touch on the fact that The Doctor is in fact not a timelord, but the being that came from another higher reality as a child, whom the timelords syphoned off the energies of to make them all have regeneration, and that he in fact has thousands upon thousands of currently locked lives, which, if unlocked, likely have far more brutal training based on what little we have seen, oh, and that his regeneration likely cannot be stopped. He is older than the oldest races, stronger than the strongest warrior, leads more beings that the greatest ruler, and more patient than stone itself. So… Rick was given an easy level version

No. He chained the husband in orbit around the collapsing galaxy to watch his wife fall in for eternity.

Yeah, the doctor had no choice . It was a losing battle in the time war
But EVERY version of the Doctor saved the planet, but -- due to the timelines getting SUPER muddled -- they all forgot that it happened. The Doctor remembers *having* the weapon to obliterate Gallifrey and the Daleks, but just assumed that it was used to obliterate the planet.
