...thank’s...good review...sense...calm and not hyper...self awareness...not pretentious...waiting for mine to fill in behind jeti and x7...bought the fraction longer stick kit...will put a hook from a scrapped hitec between loudspeaker and screen...
Very well explained, nice job,big bang for the buck,I paid 150 us dollars with receiver and module, combo deal, takes time to set up,once done it's an incredible transmitter
I love this radio! Mine came like this with the screws installed. I decided to go for this one because I tour with a band and want something easy to pack and this works so well! Took a bit to get use to the sticks but now I love it. Very great range and with the option to install the long range module I thing this is a winner! Mine has the same cosmetic damage too 😕
Yes - I think it's just a matter of taking a few lipos until it all clicks, although with that said a lovely patreon supporter has just sent me over the accessories kit, so I'll try out a few different stick lengths soon
CurryKitten that's great! Would love to see how u feel about the modified sticks! To be fair I love them the way they are but I know longer sticks have more accuracy
Really nice, man. That little radio definitely looks awesome! 😃 BTW, sorry for leaving LDO too early yesterday... But, after seeing that scene on TV I really wasn't ok. 😕
It's taking me quite a while to get used to it over my 9Xd.. I'm using the longer stick ends to try and compensate for the shorter throws and my crab like pinching style.. good little radio!
This video lasted exactly the length of my thermally insulated cup of coffee, a scale by which all videos should be measured. Great review matey! So, switching to, or 50/50 use?
I'll put the new stuff onto this radio so I can give it a proper workout. I can't move everything, because it's too much hassle to potentially replace switches and other bits on all those models, and also because the model memory on my x9d is full :)
The X-lite pro is compatible with D16 or Access receivers, but not d8. The betafpv (although depends on which one) and the trashcan have SPI receivers onboard, they are probably set in the configuration tab in betaflight to FRSKY_D (which means D8) and won't work with your radio. You can change this to FRSKY_X (which is like D16) and you should be able to bind it that way. There have been issues with people (including me) having lockups using FRSKY_X as the CPU tends to run higher. But try it and see. you other option is an external multiprotocol module to give you a d8 mode back in.
No... and also it depends. If your radio and XM+ both are flashed with the same firmware (FCC or LBT) then it's all good and you can just bind it. If they aren't, then you'll obviously have to flash one of them so they're both the same
@@CurryKitten in my x lite pro, there only one option (ISRM) and i can't bind it with my xm+ like i did when using taranis x7 sould i upgrade my firmware?
They said once you tried this radio, you end throwing away all your other ones lol You should release that Sophie voice pack lol So funny :) Have a great weekend and happy flying!
Probaby a stupid question, but I’ll ask it anyway! I just got this radio, so can I just pop in the SD Card from my Taranis QX7 and it work with all those models? Realize I might have to change a few switches, but would that work? Thank you!
Nope - but that's mainly because the models aren't stored on the card, but in the model memory. The best way of transferring the models is to read your settings from your QX7 in OpenTX companion, and then writing them (again in OpenTX companion) to the X-Lite. Any conversion needed and the software will normally do so - although as you say there might be some switch settings to mess with. You are best off getting the specific SD card image for the X-Lite as there's differences in screen pixel dimensions (I think) and possibly some other things
Interested in possibly replacing my 'stock' Emax transmitter with this in hopes of getting a bit better range and subsequently a bit better image quality (less break-up, etc.) What are your thoughts about this notion? thanks for the review.
So "stock" emax tx is something like the one that comes with the RTF kits like the TinyHawk? So you'd certainly get a lots more range with a Taranis - but there's always some caveats involved. A lot depends on the receiver as well. If you've got one of those little SPI rx's inthe TinyHawk, then they are only good for 100m or so. Replace it with something like a FrSky XM+ and you are good for 1km+ (again actual range is dependant on a lot of factors) What this won't do though is improve you FPv image - that's down to the VTX you have, the goggles (and/or module used) and the type of antenna used on both ends.
The main thing the SD card holds is the voices, so if you want voice alerts, timer countdowns and things like that, you'll need an SD card. You'll also need it to run any LUA scripts, but the actual model memory is held on the radio itself... so you don't *need* it, it's just very useful to have. Everything you'll need will fit on a small card - 2GB is plenty
CurryKitten Thanks so much for the quick response! I’m a total newbie and am just stepping up from a small pepper toy to a tiny hawk 2 with this controller and a lot of the tech stuff is overwhelming. I am learning! So just a typical 2gb mini sd card is good?
Yep - but that said, they are pretty hard to find and you might see that 8gb/16gb cards are around the same price! Hope my recent series on OpenTX can answer some of your setup questions - if not, let me know what they are missing
It's a conspiracy to stop you putting Crossfire in !!! It kind of makes sense, because the radio is so low profile, to add a JR bay they'd need to make it bigger in some way. I feel like there might be adapter plates coming, other have cracked it open to wire in Crossfire, so the regular connections are there. Obviously, FrSky would like you to use the micro r9 module
I think it's very deliberate move from FrSky. They want quad pilots over onto this game-controller inspired radio with their 2.4 gear, or their R9 module. As different as the Nirvana is, it's still more tranditional looking than the X-Lite
Yep, guess so, given the absurd price of the TBS rig, I can see the R9 taking their customer base anyway...I mean 2 watts on 898mhz is pretty ott by any standards....Its still a shame tho cos not all customers are Quad fliers.
awaiting delivery of mine and liking all the good reviews .. QQ. what goggles you using they look like they do you very well ? thanks and what extras did you use with the goggles
I'm using FatShark dominator 3's (actually quite old now) I use a RealAcc 5808 split diversity module with the pagoda and patch from MenaceRC (I made a video about their antenna starter pack - which is basically what I'm using)
It really seems to be the _current_ marmite Tx. Mostly, as is the norm, based on first impressions but with some constructive criticism as well. The batteries were definitely a foolish choice and the out of the box stick set-up is almost as bad, after all how many people who are in the market for this fly altitude hold quads or planes. Should have left the factory in one of the most common modes with the screws to allow mode change. Having to adjust muscle memory is common to virtually all Tx's when you change type but is exaggerated here by the stick size. It has some good points as you say and your first review is fair, but still, for me at least, it doesn't shout "Buy me!"
It's definitely a departure from the norm. I could deal with the batteries better if they built in a charging circuit or something, but I do like the size and feel of it in your hand. Although, I'm not sure if it's supposed to convert people other from other radios, it's more to make RC look more like gaming for noobs
Yes - to answer you question on the other video. Sophie is my daughter, I got her to record the sounds when she was little.... she no longer sounds like that :D
It seems odd that tje designers would not just design for standard lipo batteries. Odd design choice to go with hard to find batteries, as that will limit adoption right out of the gate.
I don't like how you have to buy a stand alone battery charger. I don't really know who it's aimed at? Proper Taranis boys seem to dislike it and most thumbers either have the Evolution are are waiting for the Nirvana....
The battery is a pain - I can understand why they wouldn't ship and batteries, but they could at least include a charge port. My opinion, and it is just that, is that it's to appeal to new young folk coming into the hobby having heard about drone racing, associating a traditional radio with old farts, and wanting a game controller for everything
The title says range test...... is there an actual range test within this nearly 18 minutes of bable? Come on, some of us have other things to do in our lives. Get to the important data up front. Then if anyone out there needs to pretend to have a friend; then they can listen to the rest of your stream of FPV conciseness.
Lol, I know, claims range test using long-range system and goes ~300 meters? The others all seem the same. I'm not sure at all the actual usable range of the x-lite with r9 at 100mw
No mention of the R9 here - this was a 2.4Ghz comparison test between the X9D and X-Lite. It's obviously not an all-out how-far-can-we-go-test, but comparing using a typical sort of circle a you'd fly a quad in
If you are looking for a how-far-will-it-go test. Then you'll not find it here. The idea of the range test is to keep it in a typical mini-quad flying zone and see if it's any worse than using an X9D.
A test is a structured undertaking with specific operations that are quantitatively analyzed. Not piddling around while making random observations.............. Also, how far one would "typically" fly is dependent on many issues, not the least of which is the effective range of the equipment. The answer to which I do not know because you published what was supposedly a test but was 17 plus minutes of near drivel.... oh, and observation or two on RSSI readout (the Noble committee will be contacting you soon)
Tom, you can expect more near drivel and piddling around in the future... so I'd suggest watching someone else - as the amount of time you are wasting on my video could have better been spent doing a far better test yourself... .as well as spelling Nobel correctly.
