Josh, i've been pinching for over 20 years, i could not find this more comfortable to hold or fly with. I have installed the longer stick ends that are now available which definitely a help, but to say 100% for thumbers is just not fair to say! Since making my video on this exact topic, many have come forward (pinchers) also in accord with my feeling on this. Granted it wont work for some like yourself, but it really shouldn't be discounted like this as 100%! In with the long stick kit also comes a neck strap brace which also works great :)
@@defyent After one month of use, count me as comfortable pincher on the X-Lite. I initially planned to use it with small models, I ended up shelving my X9 forever.
@@mikeoleksa update: I'm loving the X.Lite after one year (I fly mostly slope soaring gliders - don'think it's less demanding than quads, they are FAST). So sad Frsky screwed up with the ACCESS BS, otherwise I would have upgraded to the S or Pro version because the two buttons in the back are very handy for launch mode on DLGs. For indoor whoops I have the arm switch on the three position switch on the left, armed when it's in the middle position, so it will disarm whichever way you flip it. Down trim from the D-pad used as prearm, left for beeper and right for turtle mode. I 3D printed custom sticks which are 10mm taller than the stock ones and optimized for pinching. Meanwhile, I sold the X9.
Hi, im 17 year old mexican and there is lack of fpv shops here, ibe been looking forward to buying this radio. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. You have simply the best content of them all. :) thank you
I agree with Nj tech. Works great for pinchers. We're used to velociraptoring around switches and rotating thumb sockets. Something to note is the gimbal screws do not relieve spring tension. They increase friction beyond what the spring can handle. This results in a notchy center stick and slight spring back at minimum and maximum stick deflection. Open it up and pull the spring then set tension. Another note is the yaw and roll friction points cannot be adjusted. Throttle and pitch can be tight as a drum but yaw and roll will always be loosy goosy. This is less noticeable on the x-lite due to the reduced stick travel as compared to the taranis.
I grabbed this radio when it was a pre order, so I basically bought it before any reviews had even come out. I was not disappointed! It was a little different than what I was used to, but I love it. Great size, build quality, and what are limitations to others are benefits for me, having smaller hands.
Joshua, thanks for all you do. Your channel has helped me more times than I can count as I was starting in FPV and now I link to your videos when other people ask questions. You're an extraordinary member of this community!
Here is my one comment. It's a really nice comment. I tried this radio yesterday at the local flying spot. a new flyer had a vortex and this radio. Excellent beginner starter kit! Great radio. If I don't win I'll buy one down the line.
Joshua, ive been a long time RC hobbyist, I just wanted to say thank you for the time and energy you put in to these videos, with your help has made some of the newer technology easier to use and understand, and hobby / sport just that much more enjoyable. keep up the great work!!
I'm into drones for 2yrs now since I retired. I'm 71 in a few months. I have two MJX Bugs models. A Hubsan and a Bebop2. I love FPV with a few brushed whoops I own. Eachine 011, Boldclash B-03. I'm wanting a TX for the whoops. I want to be able to fly around the house inside and out. Through windows, open doors, over the roof, etc. What should I buy? I know nothing about protocalls but love putting on the goggles and doing my best. What TX plus gear would you suggest? Any and all help appreciated. Thanks.
I'm glad you reviewed this, as a noob and a gamer the XLite really appeals to me, but all the reviews have been very wooly on whether it's good or not. I'm 99% certain now, this is the controller I want.
Thanks for this and every other video that you have done. I’m new to the hobby and have been spending ALOT of time scouring RUclips for information. I usually make my way towards your videos, and they have broadened my outlook immensely! I may have even learned something! Thanks again
Nice honest review. As I just bought a QX7 I can't justify buying this now. But, it would be great to get the free one. Fingers crossed that I am selected.
Nice review, I wonder though what you think about not being able to use crossfire modules ? And I believe it doesn't have a video receiver antena like the TBS tango ?
Awesome controller. You make it so difficult to decide which to buy when the opportunity arises But at least we have the knowledge to make educated decisions. Thank you for making the video!!!!
As a thumber, I can really appreciate this style of transmitter. Thanks for always giving your honest opinion on products and not what they want you to say.
Hi Joshua. I just want to say thank you for what you do, this hobby would certainly not be the same without you. I have learned so much from you. I enjoy building and tuning just as much as flying, and your videos make both even better. Thank you, and keep up the great work! PS, your videos must be too short, whenever they're finished, I still want more!!
My only gripe so far with the x-lite is not being able to add tension to the yaw or roll. Its not too bad though. Will you be reviewing the R9M lite module?
I run primarily FlySky kit because of the cost of buying a new transmitter and receivers - but this does look super nice, and pinching never really worked out for me. I noticed that the voice sounded awful quiet - would you say it's noticeably quieter than your tyranis?
Can you pinch with gymbal extensions? Because I been looking at the Frsky upgrades you mentioned and maybe that is the way to go for us pinchers with this radio! Saludos!!
Love your reviews Joshua. I am new to the hobby and have been trying to decide on a transmitter. After this, I am settled on the x-lite. Thank you for the thorough review! Fingers (not thumbs) crossed for the give-away.
Heya.. Can you share some links of where to buy the batteries online, especially those that ships to Singapore? Thats one of the downside here.. The batteries are hard to get.. Thank you so much..
Joshua, did you hold the Nirvana in your hands yet? Between Xlite and Nirvana, which would you recommend? (Recommend, especially considering the price difference as well!)
I was just going to run out and buy this from a DX6 and umm more cons than pros thanks again to JB and his detailed thought out ,logical reviews. This a significant purchase and change if you have a few quads. After watching, I think I would of been slightly pissed about the battery situation mainly. If you have been in the hobby a little while , you know to do your homework as much as you can and not make impulse buys lol ....try to
Hmmm... learned to pinch/hybrid because I couldn’t get comfortable thumbing on the x9d. Wonder how difficult it would be to go back. Anyway, thanks for the thoughtful review. Very informative as always
Thank you for the review. Now I’m flying the Turnigy evolution and I notice an diversion on my sticks. So I’m thinking of buying this one but the battery charging is holding me down a little bit.
I love your videos.Theres very few drone guys that should be making videos cause I can barely understand them.I have learned so much from you.Thank you
Hey Joshua. Thanks bringing up some details that I haven't heard yet in a review about the xlite. About the ms delay and the question if you can feel the difference. I used to play first person shooters allot and I used a screen with about 28 ms delay. I bought a new gaming screen with the same size with 1 ms delay and the difference was huge. I instantly became better. I don't know if that's completely comparable though.
I am considering to upgrade the Turnigy evo with this radio, as many suggest FrSky is the better option.. I am sure this radio is of higher quality and all but to me those gimbals look quite smaller (not just the stick but the base circle) than those of the Turnigy or the other bigger Taranis radios, it feels like there is less room for error and higher level of precision is required. Is this true or just my own impression?
I pinch with this radio, but it isn't as easy for sure. The short sticks have the effect of increasing my rates. Super sensitive. Thanks for the review!
I'm glad to hear this turned out to be a nice radio. I was really thinking about picking one to make traveling around with a tinywhoop easier but I wanted to see more reviews on it. I always feel weird flying a tiny quad with a giant radio :). As always thank you for the video.
I fly thumbs with the qx7, but have started TRYING to learn hybrid pinching. Any benefits to using pinch over thumbs? I get there is a precision aspect about pinching, but as a long time gamer, could I or others have just as good if not better precision thumbing, or is it really that big of a difference for the average fpv’er
Thanks for all your videos Joshua, and thanks for your giveaways ;) I'm a french "pilote" and I learn how to fly with your tutorials on FPV Freerider :)
For those us us poor newbs just coming off of consumer drones, can the grub screw just be kept out to level out/arrest wayward flight of our out of control drones?

I pinch but not with my index fingertip, this is by far the most comfortable radio I've used so far.
@@defyent After one month of use, count me as comfortable pincher on the X-Lite. I initially planned to use it with small models, I ended up shelving my X9 forever.
VERY helpful information, Gentlemen! SOLD!!!

Works great for pinching, Nick Burns gets by fine hahaha.

Vapers gonna vape
batteries gonna batterate
FrSky gonna frskate
JB gonna deliver us quality content and useful info as always
does it come with a charger for those batteries?? or should I spend the extra to get the pro that can plug in and charge???
Just getting into fpv. Would love to start with a controller and simulator! Ive been addicted to your videos!
Joshua you are the most valuable asset to the fpv community!!!
Never forget that.. we love what you do....keep it coming...
I believe you meant 18500 not 1855....correct?

I like your smiles on this vid ! Thanks if you choose me for this givaway :-) And thanks for all that you bring to this hobby.
Thanks for the chance to win this X-Lite Transmitter and R-9 receiver Joshua! I always check your site to see what is new. Keep up the great work! Bob

Thanks for the opportunity to win. Thanks for all you do for the hobby.
Thanks for joining us in Puerto Rico this weekend. We enjoyed flying with you guys! I am a thumb-er and I would love to win the X-Lite!
Would like to see the range difference between the internal antenna vs attaching an external one. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for this and every other video that you have done. I’m new to the hobby and have been spending ALOT of time scouring RUclips for information. I usually make my way towards your videos, and they have broadened my outlook immensely! I may have even learned something!
Thanks again
Been pinching square boxes for 35 years. I love this transmitter just feels nice in the hand! I use it for all my quads.
Just curious. I like the normal form factor. Thanks for the video.
Is it good for small hands? It's also my entry to the contest.
2 years later and I still love my xlite pro. Best of all for this thumber
I agree JB. I sanded down my sticks also to sit much lower
Been wondering what transmitter model to upgrade..this help a lot..thanks
Would like to know what's happening with the module pins.
I realy like this radio. Good price, good features ( I am not a pintcher ). But the gimbals look very small. Should I better buy the QX7?
Nice honest review. As I just bought a QX7 I can't justify buying this now. But, it would be great to get the free one. Fingers crossed that I am selected.

Can I use 2 thumbs without disqualification ? Tried to force myself pinching 10 years ago and never worked for me.
Have you seen the longer stick ends and neck strap cradle now offered from Frysky/hourus
If i got this i would give it too my little bro. Been trying to get him into fpv but funds are a little tight. You rock!
I am a hybrid pincher and I have used this for ages now, over 10 hours of use on sim and real life, and I've not had any problems with it.
As a thumber, I can really appreciate this style of transmitter. Thanks for always giving your honest opinion on products and not what they want you to say.

kudos for being the only reviewer that mentioned stick tension adjustments!
I’m sold! But one question, can you still run Crossfire on this TX?!
I actually switched from pinching to thumbing by flying this radio...I love it!
Thanks for the awesome review. I enjoy your videos. Do the sticks raise and lower? I like mine a little higher than normal.
My only gripe so far with the x-lite is not being able to add tension to the yaw or roll. Its not too bad though. Will you be reviewing the R9M lite module?
Interested to see how this stacks up against the QX7. Nice review.
Nice review J! Didn't expect it to have so many hardware upgrades from the X7/9, looks good
How is the better latency achieved ? Hardware or is it the newer OpenTx?
I run primarily FlySky kit because of the cost of buying a new transmitter and receivers - but this does look super nice, and pinching never really worked out for me.

Can you pinch with gymbal extensions? Because I been looking at the Frsky upgrades you mentioned and maybe that is the way to go for us pinchers with this radio! Saludos!!
I’m a thumber with small size hands. I’m thinking this would suit me great. Can’t wait to try one.

Josh! FrSky =
How do you tell the difference between the x lite and x lite s?
Your killing it Josh! Almost 2 to 3 videos a day it seems like. Thank you again.
Wondering if X-Lite will bind to my D8 Mode Tinyhawk receiver?
Xlite will. Xlite Pro will not.
I was just going to run out and buy this from a DX6 and umm more cons than pros thanks again to JB and his detailed thought out ,logical reviews. Awesome! I hope I strike gold this time. Thanks for the opportunity joshua!
Nice little radio!
I would agree, the sticks are a little long. My thumbs seem to slip on the new stick ends as well. hopefully there will be new stick ends coming out.
I wonder if you could print something to extend the sticks for pinchers. If I win I'll let you know. :)
Wonder how you’ll like the Switch layout of the Nirvana? Looks Cumbersome
Isn't it weird that the D-Pad isn't used for navigating the menu?
I'm still using the Turnigy Evolution. The X-Lite makes the transition over to FrSky much better, and cheaper than buying the X9D. Thanks for review!
Hmmm... learned to pinch/hybrid because I couldn’t get comfortable thumbing on the x9d. Wonder how difficult it would be to go back. Anyway, thanks for the thoughtful review. Very informative as always
This looks great for micro / whooping! Easy to keep in your bag for spontaneous indoor flying.
I got to try this radio out. The small form factor is definitely a plus.
Thank you for the review.
Now I’m flying the Turnigy evolution and I notice an diversion on my sticks.
So I’m thinking of buying this one but the battery charging is holding me down a little bit.
How come some like to pinch this radio and some not? Hand size?
It looks very nice for a thumber like me, thanks for the review Joshua. I just hope we don't loose too much resolution.
Very helpful video, Joshua! Always awesome to see new FrSky gear.
I love your videos.Theres very few drone guys that should be making videos cause I can barely understand them.I have learned so much from you.Thank you
I need it I don't have a transmitter that works please. Thanks J.B.
I'm not a pincher and recently bought a LiteRadio2 for travel / portability. I think I would like the X-Lite.
I can see there is a circle thing at the place where the external antenna would normally place.
Hey Joshua. Thanks bringing up some details that I haven't heard yet in a review about the xlite. About the ms delay and the question if you can feel the difference. I'm in :) by the way... how is it with this radio and a regular r9m 900mhz external module?
IF you put a external patch antena, you can still use the onboard to fly arround ? like diversity style?
You mentioned a link to upgrade TX firmware. I did not see the link.

👍 is it possible to use crossfire with the radio?
Hello I would like to be selected to get that transmitter. Thanks JB!
You should put your pcb wire on your website. I was having trouble finding it. Oh and some vhb tape.
Why frsky did not made usb charging as mobile phone?
Great review!
How do you think the IRangeX iRX-IR8M will hold up vs the X-Lite ?
Hmm I generally only pinch for fine control but I'm still having reservations on this controller.
Is it possible to bind a quad with say an R-XSR to both a x-lite and a X9D+?
Any way to like, fly with this POS? Like say an AcroBee or an XM+ receiver ..?
I'm kind of confused by this question, and wonder if I'm misunderstanding it. Yes, you can fly any FrSky receiver with it. That's what it does.
I haven't solidified whether I am a pincher or thumber. I keep switching back and forth but thumb a bit more. Could this be the radio for me?
Just getting back into this hobby again after a yearlong break and there's so many things I want to buy now, this transmitter is one of them.
But the most important question is, can we use this as a Xbox controller?
No
Joshua Bardwell boom!!!
We learned something today🔥
Thumber checking in. Thinking this is a great and long overdue upgrade to my dx6i which was out of date when i bought it.
Looks like a slick radio. The size should make it super portable.
Looks an awesome radio! Another grate review JB! Keep up the great work!!
Thanks for all your videos Joshua, and thanks for your giveaways ;) I'm a french "pilote" and I learn how to fly with your tutorials on FPV Freerider :)
I saw so many younger pilots using this radio at the MultiGP International Open. I think it will bring a new demographic into the hobby.
One comment and one comment only! You, my good sir, are always entertaining to watch and thanks you for sharing your knowledge and experience!
