Goto betaflight. And adjust rates. Not sure default. But u can lower to rates to 400 or leave at betaflight default 667 and add expo like 0.25 to make it less sensitive near center of stick when doing slow movements

    • @cacamacaaa

If you're not a beginner and thinking about buying this just build a slammed Squirt V2 with FPVCycle 2203/4 on 6S (or similar motor if you can find em). I think all the real advantages from the Protek35 are the 2203.5 motor and short prop guards not the larger prop. Slammed squirt with pancake motors on 6s solves all these issues while still being really tough, easy to work on and a proven system. You could also look at the FPV Cycle Cinesplore with 2203.5(ish) motors.

As a newbie who has spent decent time in a simulator, Ive had a great time flying the Protek25 on just a 4s 850mah for recreation. Managed to come out unscathed after a couple minor crashes doing rolls and powerloops, but I did install the foam padding. It fell hundreds of feet one time and didnt break anything about the frame so it was tough otherwise. I just got a Protek 35, a new pair of DJI goggles and a DJI FPV controller (the first version). Just fyi, the air unit on mine had a 90 degree up board added to the usb port (I had no issues with the FC port) . Mu usb 90 degree thingy didn't work as installed, in fact it didn't fit into the frame and was sitting on a bit of an angle from the factory (ouch!). I ripped it out. To remove 90 degree board I took off the top of the frame and one side of the prop guards. Like an idiot I put the quad back together after I activated the air unit. When it was time to bind the goggles and transmitter I couldn't hit the little button (I'm old, I can't see that little button) so I took off the top again so I could get my hotdog finger in to push the link/bind button. Also in the videos I watched they just show binding the goggles but not the activation. Goggles activation videos showed activation showing up on DJI assistant 2. Will it didn't. Activation did not come up on DJI Assistant 2, just firmware updates. If the goggles are not activated you can not link them to the air unit. I ended up linking the Protek 35 to another pair of goggles that were activated with a DJI FPV quad (I had to fire up the goggles and find in the menu where you switch from DJI FPV quad to DJI air system) then I activated the new goggles with one of my DJI FPV quads and a mobile device. I was running low on time and didn't check if the switch for DJI Air system or DJI FPV quad showed up after activation but it certainly wasn't present before activation. I don't know if downgrading the firmware on the new goggles would have solved the issue. I had zero issues activating and binding the transmitter.
I'm not complaining, this is purely fyi for anyone that purchases the same or a similar setup so they will know what to expect and possibly have a solution.

For Easter this Year you should invite a select few participants from your FPV crew and do an Easter egg hunt for lost Gopros and quads on the property 🐰
Also this video has solidified my decision i made a few months ago when I went with the Rotor Riots version of the Shen drones Squirt cinewhoop. I have also crashed it many times and the only time the ducts cracked was when I was flying it outside pretty hard when it was 15 degrees out and crashed into the asphalt. It literally only cracked the foot area that are on the newer style ducts and it was an easy hot glue fix and black electric tape and you can't even tell. I have bashed it up quite a bit and I must say it still even looks brand new. You should never have to replace anything except ducts if you own the rotor riot cinewhoop. Glad I went to R.R. with my money 💰 still...Great video

Fantastic review once again. I'm wondering how noisy it is though.. Maybe you mentioned it and I missed it? All the cinewoops so far have been too noisy to fly close to people without them freaking out and guards or police show up. To my experience and opinion noisy cinewoops are very bad for our reputation.
Quiet kwads without prop guards sound a lot friendlier and people come to me joyful and interested and a party starts where everyone wants to look through my goggles.

I have the Protek 25 Analog. I had about 50 flights in and hit a tree. It fell in the street from about 15' up and broke the right prop guard. I replaced it no problem. Then my camera and VTX died. I sent it into the iFlight USA repair center and they replaced the camera and VTX. Today I took it out for the first time since the repair and it flew great; I am not flying with a HD camera. I really like how this drone flies, but I agree with JB that the prop guards are not the most durable.

Can I ask what analog receiver you used and how you connected it? I just bought the 35 and a fly sky receiver and being new to this, I can’t figure out how to connect the flysky receiver to the flight controller.

@@chriswegener3373 I bought mine BNF, so the receiver was already in the drone. I am using the TBS Crossfire that came in it, so I am assuming it is the nano. Usually, the wiring diagrams for iFlight products are available on both iFlight's website and dealers as well. I looked at all of the places I have gotten iFlight wiring diagrams from and none of them had wiring diagrams for the iFlight Protek 25 or 35 PNP. Maybe JB can help you out. Sorry I couldn't help.

Did you end up finding the go pro before a mower got it? It sounded lighter after the stair crash. I thought "wow, it sounds like the voltage had really sagged and the crash allowed it to recover". As for the ducts, I had no idea ducted quads were so loud since my moblite6 isnt but size helps I'm sure. I just got a Protek 35 and I'm considering printing some prop guards similar to my Flywoo Firefly Nano baby 20s.

I just got a protek35 analogue as my first ever pre-built new quad and it's ok, but nowhere near as smooth as most of my home-built 5" quads. I think it has potential but really disappointed with it jittery performance for what I'd hoped would be a more cinematic quad. Mine carries a gopro session 5 and wondered if I would need to re-tune to carry it smoothly?

I'm thinking of getting a quad. I had a Tinyhawk and I just never could get the hang of it. I have a DJI Mini2 but I keep crashing it because I am flying it like a cinewhoop. I think I'll get a ciniwhoop because I'm not really a racer but I want to get fast paced cine drone shoots. I'll work on the simulator before I waste money to see if I CAN FLY IT THOUGH

blheli32 on firmware 32_74 hex : You can configure motor pwm frequency to increase with throttle. The benefits of variable pwm frequency are:
Low frequency for low throttle gives good active braking where it is most needed
High frequency for higher throttle makes running smoother
The variable frequency will work as dithering making running even more smooth.
please let us know what do you see and are those applicable for 5inch quad or just for plane RC,,or there is any risk in quad esc setting
which mean now blheli32 can set up 2 pwm frequency in low and high rpm (low 24Khz and High 48Khz)
im your huge fans, i like to watch every video of you in you tube, and after my paycheck i will join and support this channel in patreon..

At 3:32 when you show the Bumble bee , Could they just make a trim ring to snap in or use the screw points to sit just above the prop that would effectivly close the gap between the prop and the duct sidewall and make it more efficient ? Maybe someone has already done that but I was just curious since you stated that even the small gap made it useless as a functioning duct .

As always Joshua, super helpful and thorough, except.... You didn't take us out of suspense!!! Did you manage to find your Gopro 8, or is it still MIA?! I really hope you managed to find it! I had a micro similarity just last Sunday, shooting some gaps in a park, tree branches on my HX115 HD (also beautifully reviewed by you:) ) and had a hard crash into a good ol' Aussie gum tree about 5m (15' up), bent props etc, dusted it off. About halfway through rest of pack when I noticed that my REC wasn't displayed in goggles! Yep, Micro SD had ejected, after having flown 5 packs! D'oh, there goes that footage. Anyway, hope you found it, it tried back tracking through goggle DVR, but a fingernail sized Micro SD is, I dare say even harder than finding a fist sized Gopro. Good luck! Thanks for the dependably helpful content. Cheers!

But do like protek35. It's different. 3.5" so more power.. not just another photocopy..
Protek25 I feel is just too heavy. At 200g it's a 95x with full size hero6 (battery delete). Maybe being wider helps idk..
I've flown 95x with full size gopro. Works if going really slow. Flight time 3mins , 3:30 max

I'm looking into this option I've had the protek35 for couple months now and not overly excited about it . Its def more an outdoor style quad . And it's terrible in wind . So just fly 5" or transtec beetle hom on Calm days cinewhoop style ( plus it's under 250g rtf , handles wind better than protek 35 ).

How original Protek 25 compares against Protek R25 and Protek 25 Pusher? Is there any performance difference or it's basically the same, just with a different design? Are there any components in R25 which are significantly better/newer/more advanced compared to what is used in two previous models (Pusher and original Protek 25)? What do you think?
