I just realized I forgot to show the case, it does come with one, a black semi-rigid clam style case, it's nice. But I think it is too big and defeats the purpose of the X-Lites small for factor.
This is by far the most informative video that I have seen on this radio. Well done, subscribed.
I had the same issue with the screwing into the brass thread on mine. Didn't break any screws off, but I just went in and took the spring loose. I'll actually fix it later
Thanks - ordered those panasonics too!
Informative video...one of the best out right now on this transmitter! I use the X9D Plus...had it for years, upgraded the gimbals (and some other stuff) and love it, but will need/want a backup at some point. Looks interesting.
BONUS you can put a full size TBS module on these vand easily due to an adapter
how can i get the Batterys out of the Controller?
I actually like to pinch with this controller. works well for me.
Does anyone knows if it have better range then irx-ir8m? Because it is another transmitter that i use with somewhat same form factor.
Nice video dude. I use a X9D and an Evolution, I'd love an Evolution-size FrSky but I do like that the Evo has a built-in gimbal/switch protector. I like it's light-weight and the fact that it only costs £40 with an Rx! That means I can leave one in the car with a little wing. The X-Lite is going to need a case and then it starts getting bulky again.
The case does make it bulky, I would really like to see a smaller case for it.
What killed me on the turnigy was the absolute crap RX modules.
Haven't had any problems myself, the TGY-iA6C it comes with is full diversity and seems about the same range as my FrSky Rxs, even the tiny FS-A8S gets me 350 metres. And £40 for the Tx AND the TGY-iA6C seemed pretty staggering to me.
Great video and very helpful!!!!!!!i am new at the racing quad /troubleshooting and have a question. I bought this controller and my question is when the battery is low or about to die would that make the camera and my fat shark goggles shut down and video go away? any suggestions would be much appreciated . thanj you
The battery power will have zero effect on the video signal. If you could describe your problem a bit more I may be able to help you out.
Does it come with batteries and can the batteries be charged while still in the tx, like the evo does? Or do I need to buy bats and a separate charger for them? Good vid, thanks.
Russell Reilly It does not come with batteries and you will need a charger as the x-lite does not have the ability to charge. The batteries in the description have been working great for me.
Cool, thanks for the reply. : ) Subbed ya.
I'm still using an Evolution even though I've got a Taranis. Main reason is it's more backpack friendly and I really like the PS form factor. I'm really busting to get one of these since the flysky receivers are just crap. I assume you can update FrSky firmware for the receivers like with a QX7? Just waiting on Banggood stocking and I'm ordering it. Thanks for the info!
The FrSky receivers compared to Flysky is pretty drastic. Yes you can update the firmware on the receivers also.
I never had issues with flysky receivers but I've only flown them at 800m or less.
Building my first quad noob here, will this X-lite work with FrSky XSR ? Or it will connect to every 2.4ghz FrSky reciever ?
It will work with pretty much all of their 2.4g receivers.
The eachine wizard ts215 comes with one
Man I'm having trouble getting it to unlatch in the middle on the bottom between the grips. It's opened on the side and top, but can't get the bottom to let go smh
Thanks for this vid. I had the exact same thing happen to me. I had to clean up the burs on the inserts, as well as remove some plastic where the screw goes through the housing, as it was pushing the screw out of alignment with the insert.
It's a M4 size screw.
next time drill the screw out. small bit. works with any broken screw, sometimes you can get lucky and get it started, then reverse the drill and the screw will come right out.
Do i still need to put an sd card? will it work out of the box? or can i just tranfer my sdcard from my qx7?
It will work without an SD card. The SD card is need to add additional functions like voice alerts. I am not sure if you can use the card from your QX7 but I think you can.
would you recommend this as first controller?
If your a thumber I definitely would recommend it. There is a ton of information on out there on OpenTX and the support for external modules means you can get into long range and there is now a multi-protocol module out so you can use other receivers such as DSMX, Futaba, FlySky and toy grade stuff such as Hubsan.
Crash N Burn Racing yeah I'm a thumber used to play alot video games and just got into the hobby.
Very nice review. What about external antennas, which to use and is it for better range?
Pretty much any external antenna is going to increase the range. FrSky had a T shaped one with the pre-production X-Lite's but decided not to include them. FrSky may come out with it as an accessory. But the plain straight antennas will work well also.
Does the x lite not come with one? I currently use a 5 dbi on my x9d.
It does not.
Is this one able to speak and if so can you show us how
This can, you just need to install a custom voice pack. I like the Amber pack myself. There's a good tutorial by project blue falcon for this.
is it compatible with the FrSky V8FR-II receiver? or will it just bind up to every frsky receiver out there?
Yes, and yes. As long as it's their 2.4G and not the long range stuff.
Ok, thanks alot! will be selling my spektrum dx7s i recently bought for this new awesome radio
I am sticking with my Evo..this new Tx is incredibly expensive NZD 1447.00 on AliExpress! My Evo was about NZD 200.00 good video though, thanks
That is crazy, I wouldn't spend that much either! Hopefully after some time there will be some more affordable options available for our NZ pilots.
~130 EUR in most shops, shipping included. That's okay considering that a TX is the most important part of you equipment and will be used for years - and that you're able to use FrSky receivers with you quads (my minis all have XM+ with RSSI installed which are really great).
Good 130 euros is about 260.00 NZD and which is reasonable so I don't understand what's going on at AliExpress.....
Many shops used dummy prices while they did not get a final pricing from the manufacturer. Banggood had a price of $9999,99 or something like that, for example. These are just dummy prices. Most of them were replaced with correct prices a couple of weeks ago as the first quantities of the X-LITE went out to the shops.
Im in NZ, just ordered it through horus rc for just over $200nzd
Can you charge the batteries via the USB port ?
You can not, but chargers for these types of batteries are fairly cheap.
Is it really worth getting one if you have a XD9 Plus SE ?
It's hard to say, if your a thumber and want something more compact then I would say yes.
how do you recomend I charge these batteries
Chargers for these batteries are cheap and work well. www.amazon.com/Nitecore-i2-Intellicharge-Charger-Battery/dp/B0096U26QQ/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1530013608&sr=8-16&keywords=18650+nitecore
Crash N Burn Racing Thanks a lot man you might be intrested I found the charger with 2 batteries on Amazon for 13.99. i could send you a link if you would like but this appears won't let me
Thanks for asking but I currently do not need another charger.
Chargers work great
cool vid, bro
That radio sucks, you lost the signal even on short distances.
A new low for frsky, they have a huge fan base that they just don't give a crap about.
How? It has better range than the QX7 and competes with the X9D. It smokes the old 32ms frsky latency and is now competitive with flysky and crossfire. It supports all the same modules as a normal taranis and has all the features quad pilots need.
oh ye, dont use protected batteries. X-lite dont like those.
excuse me? over 100$ transmitter has that big gaps tf i use 40$ flysky i6 and dosent have big gaps the fuck scam wast of money start with budget !!!!!!!1
+1👍
