- Here is how to build a custom fiberglass subwoofer enclosure, built for the corner of your trunk? I will show you how. This is my first attempt with this so I will not only teach you what to do but you can learn through my mistakes as I show you ways to improve on what I have done.
Custom Fiberglass Subwoofer Enclosure Build for Infiniti Q50 for corner of the trunk.
I will show you how to do the fiberglass work, and how to custom fit it in the corner of your car. I show how to measure the cubic air space. I also show how to get it ready for speaker fitment. we complete the outer portion of the subwoofer enclosure. We carpet the custom enclosure and run the wires for the subwoofer and amplifier. We then install the subwoofer into the enclosure and test it out!

I gotta say, you did pretty much everything the wrong way lmao. However, your humility is greatly appreciated. While I’ve watched a plethora of videos on how to make a fiberglass sub box the correct way, they didn’t show me what not to do, then explain how to correct it. It was really helpful to visually see what I would’ve done as a first time builder and now know how to go about this per your instructions. Also, your box still came out really good in the end! Much appreciated, sir! Thanks for the wholesome content 👍🏻
My pleasure!
I'm confused about this comment. Is dude talking shit? lol
Looks pretty good for your first build. Practice makes perfect 💪
Thank you!!
Really want to make something like this for my trunk for space needed, without losing bass tho. Studying these videos for my son and me to start something like this.Just started my first system ever at my age and now starting to see where i want my sound to be with where i want my speakers, especially the trunk. Thanks for the video.
And remember, which I'm pretty sure you learned by now, the strength is not in the quantity of resin but in the layers of resin and fiberglass mixed. You want enough resin just to soak your fiberglass mat or your fiberglass sheets and then layer it up
Great point!
Great build! I like how you gave tips throughout on things you would have done differently. I think it was good for your first time doing it. How much did the Sub cost?
Thank you! The sub is around $100 and it is a great value! Are you planning a build?
The Improvement Channel $100 is not bad, I may contact them and do a fiberglass box. It looks doable.
@@triaddistribution9307 Good luck, let me know if I can help!
Nice and good try and it has come out nicely, good job friend,
Thank you for the encouragement!
Excellent
Thank you!
I noticed you had a lot of resin in the cup, did you use the hardener as well?
Yes, I did use hardener. It was hot outside and it would be hard in about 10 mins.
So sick. I want to do something similar in an FJ cruiser, but with an MDF face. How much resin did this take? I’d like to keep it to a gallon to keep cost down
I wasted a lot, you may be able to get away with just a gallon with a mdf front.
Did you use screws or glue to keep the post for the subwoofer ring intact with the fiberglass?!
Screws
How is the box holding up? I've got a 2016 chevy cruze limited and I use the trunk a lot so I wanted to build an enclosure behind the wheel well for my 10'' Rockford Fosgate subwoofer. I've watched many videos on building these boxes and am quite confidant I could accomplish this myself. Now I'm just trying to narrow down the shopping list of items I'll need since I have zero experience with fiberglass and what tools you need. I'm going to cut a custom shape of MDF for the bottom of the enclosure and then do the same for the whole face of the enclosure and wrap it together with the fiberglass.
I screw some Velcro to my car trunk interior and stuck them to the back of the trunk box. That and the box will naturally fit tight mine stayed in place.
The Improvement Channel so the box is still doing good? I wanna be sure to make mine thick enough.
SlashtaCross yes mine has held up great. Also, I have a longer version of the same video you might check out.
Beautiful! Now clay bar that poor car that has overspray all over it haha
Lol, you are correct, I need to do that.
What was your final cost for the build?
My best guess is $175.
What type of tape did you use?
Cheap painters tape.
How long did this take?
Probably about 20 hrs
What is the mdf at the bottom for? Anyone kno
What do you mean by MSG?
Box without air hole ?? Its normal or ,,,
You can do ported or non ported.
Enjoyed watching the build, but it a
sure was hideous.
I just here for your entertainment!
Did you mention you cant just make any size box? People should know each sub has a certain amount of airspace needed. Too small or too big could cut down on the quality of sound and performance. Worst case it could damage your speaker. You know all that but your viewers might now.
Thank you for bringing that up, good point!
Some Rockford 12s or shallow subs will work great.
Giving a lot of bad tips man. You don’t want long speaker wire for starters.
Long wires; what would you do differently?
