My dear old mum was recently starting to listen to some of the bands that I listen to, (Eyehategod, Mr Bungle, Primus and allsorts) but sadly I didn't get the chance to introduce her to The Melvins as she sadly passed away this weekend. I know for a fact she would have loved them though. RIP Mum. I'm gonna miss you loads!
This is one of the hand full of reasons I started playing guitar during the pandemic. I told buzz that when I met him in October. He started when he was 18 and me when I was 28. He said that’s all he ever wanted to do was to inspire people to step out side of their comfort zone. The dude is a true hero to many
me too! you can hear his playfulness and nuances and just simply a cool saturated stylish sound, cool on it's own and in relation to the other instruments
I saw them in 2000 at Irving Plaza completely sober. I was standing next to the bass cabinet, felt hammered by the end of the show. Easily the loudest show I’d seen
Their chemistry is unmatched! Steven was a great addition on the 4 string. As much as I absolutely adore the Fantomas Melvins big band live version, this performance is soooo epic!
So hard they work on their music so hard and they Rockand Steven Shea McDonalds a great bass player also puzzle rocks and dales awesome keep rocking buzzo
Melvins fan from the Melvins army since beggining of my blossom...... even too young to bring it out here in france with me, never been shocked to don't get a missing fulltime bassist for the band, but, damn, I feel how this Steve was feeling and be a Melvins DNA since always, don't quit RedKross but be a melvins forever, Buzz&Dale are great are always but your bass bring the missing noise!
I used to think Joe Preston was my favorite Melvins bassist, but Steven McDonald is fantastic. Preston was perfect for the super slow drone-driven stuff and I tend towards the doomier end of things. Jared Warren, Rutmanis, and Dunn are all fantastic in their own right but they seem to really hitting a groove with Steven.
Justin Vavala it’s all been the same to me buzz writes mostly everything anyway. Mark D was the only real exception from what it says on their song credits.
Steven McDonald is neither the best nor worst bassist the Melvins have had, but he's definitely the most fun, and that's what they needed. Glad he's had a long spell with them.
Kurt (rumoured) planned to fire Dave Grohl and have Dale drum the 4th NIRVANA-album. All respect to Dave (I mean that 100%) but that would've been awsome.
Buzz is not the devil Dale is the only drummer who used a headset that matters and McDonald was a little kid when THE MELVINS were conceived. The fact is THE MELVINS ARE AND ALWAYS WILL BE BUZZ AND DALE
does.... anyone knows why Buzz does not play live with his Custom Black Les paul like he used to? just miss those old days not the biggest fan of this modern Aluminum Guitars Not saying that they sound bad
lMrFresno559l no. Have you seen his new Bean setup? Sounds absolutely insane, better than any other guitar ive heard. He had a probably with the early aluminum guitars but it was that the Gibson pickups were too hot with them.
lMrFresno559l Thats just not true dude. I just saw them last July, he sounded insane. Better than Les Paul days. And he was using the aluminum Travis Bean with all solid state amps
I used to have a Kramer with an aluminum neck and let me tell you, the tone was amazing but it was heavy as fuck! Really put the hurting on my neck and shoulders Pretty sure Buzz knows what he's doing after ALL these years when it comes to guitar set up To me they're getting better with age
I've seen them twice this year (2019) . The 40 Watt sounded, should be live release, beautiful. At Saturn (B'ham) the sound was fuck-shit, all you could hear was mid-range noise. If you walked into the bar next door, it was great. I later found out that venue is notorious for awful sound, so the hall really makes a difference.

Rest In Peace Mum you wouldve loved Gluey Porch Treatments
RIP Mum. You sound like an amazing woman
Dude, your mom sounds awesome. God rest her soul and hopefully she is listening to the Melvins now.
Spinning Houdini (and Stag) in her honor.

I started in the pandemic too. When I was 42. Similar inspiration.Keep doing it 🤘
Bass is so loud in the mix! Love that.
me too! you can hear his playfulness and nuances and just simply a cool saturated stylish sound, cool on it's own and in relation to the other instruments
I really love what he brings as a bassist to the band
I think it sounds awful xD It's very pooey
When the guitar and bass come together in all that glorious fuzz and distortion, it sounds like one very powerful instrument.
melvins r such a strange band but i love them so much
Yr either tuned to their frequency or you ain't.
@@tikhongilson3770I sure is.
Me 3

Who’s here in honour of the Anniversary!?
18 years at the time of this post 🫡
BASS
FUZZ
HARRY CLOUD 666 bass sounds poor to me
played this for my cat and he turned into the cleric beast from bloodborne
Lol
Lmfao this is the funniest thing i have read all year! 😂
hahahaaa
Brilliant.
One of my fav Melvins tunes.. masterfully performed.
The Melvins and Pantera, my favorite bands of all time
Both excellent choices!
Dale Crover is one of the few (singing) drummers that gets away with using a headset mic.
Fuck off peter chris can to
brian from lightning bolt is knocking...
@@indigotheindieghost7214 Yeah, but when your face's covered with a handmade mask it's easier to get away with it ;-)
@@dashwig fair point hehehe
Peter Chris awesome digdog!
So great they still play songs from STAG. The Bit is great one.
Steve has been such a perfect fit. His sense of humour is the perfect foil for Buzz's seriousness.
STILL UNTOUCHABLES
see there my friends, that's what it's all about... DYNAMICS
make em wait for it, want it, then give it to em....Fk yeah!
Best version of this amazing track!!
I just love this band!
Long live to the fucking Melvins!!!
Their chemistry is unmatched! Steven was a great addition on the 4 string. As much as I absolutely adore the Fantomas Melvins big band live version, this performance is soooo epic!
No one has as much fun playing than the Melvins, Killer!
Just had the honor of meeting King Buzzo after their show in Dallas this past week. Incredibly nice guy.
One of the loudest shows I've been too. The Melvins and Napalm Death. Not one to wear ear plugs, but damn.... My ears were fuked for a few days after.
Not seeing that tour is one of my biggest live music regrets.
No shame in wearing plugs. Tinnitus is no fun from what I'm told.
greatest live band that's ever Grace this Earth
So hard they work on their music so hard and they Rockand Steven Shea McDonalds a great bass player also puzzle rocks and dales awesome keep rocking buzzo
Fucking love the Melvins
Sounds really good
Awesome. Wish I was there.
Great live performance from a great band!! PHENOMENAL
Music gods - listen - glad I found this needed the insperation , thats what they do they inspire, check thee history.
Magnificent MELVINS

Great
Jodidamente buenos
Fuckin awesome band remember seein em at 8x10 in baltimore
@2:15... Ahh, that feels better
SCREAM!!!! TRAPPED IN A MELVIN DREAM 🤘🤘
Love this fucking song
Gil Scott Heron intro followed by Melvins? Yes please!
That would be trippy.
HOLY BASS
I think the only question is why Steven wasn't ALWAYS the bass for Melvin's antics. So perfect.
Reckon if Rutmanis wasn't kicked out for extra curricular activities, he'd still be the bassist
AllergicToMyself probably probably not
I used to think Joe Preston was my favorite Melvins bassist, but Steven McDonald is fantastic.

Steve kills it on this. 👊👊👊
Fuzz fuzzing tastic
Buzzo and Dale and Steve and Pincus rock hard The melvins rule
Omg Hold it in with Pinkus & Paul Leary is awesome Buzzo/Crover/McDonald/Pinkus/Leary & Mike Patton need to do an album
@@jomama9445 yes they do need to do an album together that would be awesome
Went to the same show in SLC, fucking glorious.
Millennium Monster Work with Fantomas and their work with big business is some pretty great stuff.
Steven McDonald is neither the best nor worst bassist the Melvins have had, but he's definitely the most fun, and that's what they needed. Glad he's had a long spell with them.
So true!
hes the worst. been waitin a long time hoping they replace him
SSSiiiiiiiiiiiick!!!!!
best melvins song ever amk very underrated, like this video lan
Greatest bass arrangement this song ever had was courtesy of the Great Kevin Rutmanis \m/
This song has huge, heavy, T-Rex balls.
the intro of this particular offering on RUclips inspires me to look elsewhere for a live version of The Bit
If you haven't already found it, look up the version that Melvins do with Fantomas -- Trevon Dunn, Mike Patton, Dale Crover AND Dave Lombardo. Epic.
And the 7th day God made The Melvins.....oh....thank you God
That snare
Tool's song The Grudge must have been inspired by the bridge of this song. Buzzo's riffs are hypnotic af.
I can totally hear a saxophone on this.
I learned all of my drumming knowledge from Phil Collins and Dale.
Did John Lurie compose your theme music?
This is an audio onslaught
Does anyone know if this Triple R (3RRR) happen to be in Guerneville, CA?
I am just elated that so many people love the melvins. Gives me hope that people don’t have shit taste in music after all
They kinda are shit but in a good way. Buzz said it himself.
Good thing Grandma-Buzzo got that aluminium guitar. For. The. Nuance.
Does anyone knows the brand & model of that guitar?
The brand is Electrical Guitar Company
@@JoelSully that is worst guitar company name ever.
Why in the hell has he two tuners on his pedalboard?
Who?
King Buzzo...
Not to get too technical but it's likely to use as a mute for one string of effect pedals

Leisure Muffin tune
Cool setlist. Is the full set on youtube anywhere?
Kinda like Brann Dailor of Mastadon. They do a good cover of the bit.
This is grunge. Heavy, thick and viscous as a tar.
Grunge is metal but Seattle people are too snobbish to admit it.
Ahh...dad rock :)
That fucking intro was DoPe

The ally guitars are lighter, and better sustain...
@@jessie778899 Lighter, totally agree. Quantifying sustain is a myth.
Why does this sound like a certain rob zombie song???
when I grow up I want to be king buzo
I'm surprised to see Melvins on here, most hipster radio stations are averse to playing metal.
RRR hipster? 😂 um no.
Buzz's tone took massive hit when he went with these aluminum guitars.
lMrFresno559l no. Have you seen his new Bean setup? Sounds absolutely insane, better than any other guitar ive heard. He had a probably with the early aluminum guitars but it was that the Gibson pickups were too hot with them.
Sorry dude. An aluminum guitar is ever going to sound as good as a les paul.

Buzz didn't edit the mix, dumbass
I have both a Beta lead and a Marshall 2204 and I'd pick the 2204 any day. Beta lead is still cool but not as cool as 2204.
Why do so many good bands have only a small "cult" following?
@noisecommunion still within "cult" range. SB in the hundreds of thousands.
Aluminum Buzz0
100% better than nirvana
Producers ruined Nirvana, listen to "With the Lights Out" compilation
Is that the pedo spiral on his shirt?
Oh Steve, quit screwing up the infamous intro.
He's just getting the kinKs out of it.
No, he always takes a mocking sound on Melvins tracks. Listen to the Melvins then listen to the Melvins with Steve...
This is a great intro.
I like Steve
Agree, orionsic.... Still cool though..
i think that guitar might have an aluminum neck
Yup. The entire guitar is aluminum. They're made by the Electric Guitar Company.
@@Steely_Fran cool! stainless steel frets. $3000 US.
This is for Cows.
That’s quite a bit...
another melvins bass plyer rippin it up n shht
bassist is on tranz HAHA
Saul really took a weird turn after Breaking Bad ended huh?
I dont like this bass player style so much
I love the Melvins but they aren't the best live band in my opinion. Performance and sound is not that great
Must of been at a horrible venue. One of the best live in my opinion.
I’ve seen them live several times and they were always awesome and incredibly loud and heavy
Giant Squid not true I’ve seen them several times since then and they were always heavy. Check out the hellfest set when they opened with hung bunny
I've seen them twice this year (2019) . The 40 Watt sounded, should be live release, beautiful. At Saturn (B'ham) the sound was fuck-shit, all you could hear was mid-range noise. Bass is so out of tune👎
"There's too much band playing in tune out there" said Buzz once in a interview.
No it's really not
Tuning is for bands like maroon 5
Uh, yeah, no.
