GODDAMN!!!!!! The MELVINS!!!! You either love the Melvins or you are wrong!
Church Brother! 🖖
Lol. Brilliant comment ! 😁
True because I shied away from Melvins all these years until listening to Houdini. I was wrong.
rj zander listen to the song dr geek that isn’t slow. or safety third even.
Ha! I'm just now diving into the Melvins' catalog, but made a very similar comment to someone who had no clue about "Primus sucks!" but was running his yapper about it and saying "Except for one or two songs, yes they do.". Effin' idjut! 🤦♂️I can't believe it took me this long to get around to Melvins, but better late than never and at least now I know what to listen to when I can't decide what I wanna listen to!
Whoever mixed those drums deserves a medal!
+diabeticdrummmer123 or two! - totally agree!
not enough just a medal.
+diabeticdrummmer123 They deserve METAL
check out a track called Writes in Black - Lucid Rivers. Just for the drums if nothing else... also Shortest Road
16:18 when this shit drops right here I jizz ... that thunderous, heavy, yet full of quality sound!
0:55 - Hag Me

Thankyou....had I only scrolled down slightly before click-skipping through
Love you heart emoji
Give it up for Saul Goodman on drum set everyone!
Thank but I like the stream of consciousness that is this album played straight through.
But thanks🤘🏼
I love when I find the guy who does this, you are awesome!
I saw the Melvins play the entire Houdini album back in '93 when it came out. They opened for Primus at the Hollywood Palladium. It was transformative to say the least.
It was produced by Kurt Cobain too.
Melvins and Primus? you lucky bastard
@@NinjaSushi2 barely
@@lewisbarrah8804 not really. Primus is disco and sucks.
Justin Kline
I saw that same show at the other end of Interstate 10 out in Jacksonville Florida
Dale is a goddamed ultra accurate metronome!! One of the most underrated drummers of the history
No he really isn't. He's a okay drummer at best and probably the only member of this sh#t band even moderately talented.
@@gregmartin1757 you must be fun at parties...
@@gregmartin1757 I can shit more talent than you will ever produce.
@@gregmartin1757Fuck off you victim of neonatal Lysol exposure
Nah, it’s all in Buzz’ hair.
i luv how the drummers share the middle cymbal :)
Came to find this comment! Hello from the future. :)
As a child of the early 90s who loved metal and "grunge", I'm so ashamed to have let the Melvins slip by. 25 years late is better than never, I suppose.
don't feel bad, I been a fan since 89 and saw them for the first time in 2019. and they were as good live as I have always fantasized they would be.
I was late to the party as well…can’t believe I didn’t give them a chance after all the years. I’m such a dumbass! Big regret, but like you said, better than never 🔥
better late than never. Saw them twice. Best memories.
Same here. I'll be 39 next week, and only started listening to them this year. I have absolutely no idea how they eluded me all these years. But I'm not wasting time catching up on them. Ocd style for all the years I was deprived. Ignorance is no excuse for the law, which you could never in 100 lifetimes come close to reading all the laws that you have already broken by proxy, the melvins catalog is doable for sure though...
Melvins has nothing to do with grunge. They do their own thing
Holy shit, this sounds amazing. The drumming is just....wow. Not the biggest Melvins fan in the world (respect the hell out of them), but I'd see them in a second if I had an opportunity.
Same
D. Norbut you would love them if you saw them live. It really opened my world to them when I saw it live. So tight And syrupy and alien sounding. Nothing quiet like it.
haha they've moved on now. they're back touring with 2 bass players
Wise Walrus that’s what I said, I saw them a couple of weeks ago.i started a riot pit. 2020
My boss said the same thing ,"Yeah they're ok but I don't really dig em too much", until we saw them live recently . Now they're all he's been listening to for months.
0:38 “remember, if you refuse to reuse, you earth abuse. Keep it green”
I wasn't expecting Buzzo's voice to sound this amazing. I don't know A) how he's able to sound just as heavy and on pitch and B) how he's able to do it after singing and performing this way for literal decades
Goddamnit Houdini is a shit-hot collection of songs in any order.
Buzzo and Dale with Big Business has to be my favorite lineup live. Saw (and filmed) them at Meredith years back and it blew my goddamn skirt right up. Amazing
Dale Crover is and always will be one of my absolutely favorite drummers of the whole world (and I´m guitarist). Basta.
Yeeeep, he is a mastermonster!!!
Uguale x me!
☝️🧐
Fun fact: Dale started on guitar before taking up the sticks. 🤘
Cody Willis is hands down one of the best rock drummers I've seen/heard no matter what band he's in, but playing with Dale??? Jesus H Christ this rocks
It sounds like he has joined High on Fire... so that can only be badass!
I wish I was on stage with the Melvins, wearing cardboard armor. : [
BEST LINEUP EVER
Agreed, this lineup is the Melvins at the top of their game.
Agree. Their current double bass lineup is tight but this was something special.
@@jaysonpfaff5566 I never heard why the Big Business guys aren't part of this tour. It's a completely different vibe now.
more than 20 years later, Night Goat still gives me that brave feelings
It's actually 30 years since the Night goat 7" was released. Unreal !
The Melvins and Sleep should do a tour together.
Absolutely..i've think about it after Sleep's gig few years ago...I've seen Melvins four times...
Sleep, Mastodon, and The Melvins.
And Clutch
Alvaro Ibarra I have seen Mastodon twice. They are a awesome band and I am a big fan .I must say though they are kind of boring live. The other two bands are as legendary as Black Sabbath to me!!!!!And that’s saying something 🤘🤘🤘🤘
@@spacegrass2738 I personally think those 3 bands are the masters of the stoner/sludge/doom metal scene. Mastodon is probably one of the best bands today musically. Sleep and Melvins are legendary no matter what.
This lineup was so crushingly loud live. Saw em in a relatively small venue and they just about blew me through the back door.
Me too.
This is beyond words. I grew up with this album as a kid and watching them perform it flawlessly puts tears in my eyes. Incredible
I was gonna take a shot every time the drummers went off beat from one another... after watching the whole show, I'm stone cold sober :/
The Wedge hehe what a silly anecdote for what I’m assuming is a silly guy!
They are professional musicians after all.
The Wedge I saw this tour live and same thing. Dead on tight. Great show. I’m longing for them to come to NC again. Hopefully I won’t have to work but even so they are worth using a vacation day on.
If there were Melvin heads that follow them around like the Dead I would be a Melvin’s head at the ripe age of 46. Great band like wine they get bette with age too. Most bands do the opposite but not these amazing beasts.
you poor man
They're flamming through most of it, so depending on your definition...
Oh man, it was so, so unbearably, painfully HOT in this teeny tiny venue during this show, the whole time I thought i was gonna faint any minute. Brought my then-boyfriend to see them for the first time, it was such an effort to enjoy it for both - so glad I can rewatch it now and finally make up for it. Only time in my life I had to FOCUS to enjoy the Melvins. Mid summer, small square room super packed, low ceiling, no ventilation whatsoever, walls dripping wet, thick velvet curtains over the doors preventing any whiff of air from coming in, low blood pressure - but we managed to stay inside the whole show nevertheless. No chance I'd walk out on the Melvins, but when Electric Wizard played the same venue, the same summer, I didn't make it. Saw them (both) several times before and after, thankfully. The venue burned down in a fire a couple years after this show by the way... MELVINS, needless to say, obviously SHREDDED regardless of heat and discomfort levels. Once more showed us pussies and faint at heart how it's done!
well said... shame that the venue is gone now...
I was there I don't remember it being nearly as bad as you say in there maybe I was just having too much fun to notice 🤟
@@crimesforkibble6912 hahah well I'm glad for you! I wish I could say the same, maybe my heat tolerance level are too low, I have low blood pressure and I get quite dizzy with extreme heat. 😅
I just saw them last week in San Jose, CA on a day where the high was 106 deg. It NEVER gets to be 106 degrees in San Jose. Us 45 year olds were drenched post show. Made it. Was amazing.
I got to see them play this at the Great American Music Hall in SF. And I will never forget it. And I still listen to it,on repeat. Fuck yeah.
The best live band ever, hands down!!!Dale says "KEEP IT GREEN"
Dale is such a awesome drummer he should get far more recognition
than he does. What a beast!
its incredible. thank you for posting this video.
This is the best thing I've ever seen!
MELVINS FOREVER!!!!
great album, great band, thank you, I love it
those drummers steal the show . I'm more amazed on how tight there playing is. all of them really. great show
Was there on both evenings. This was a lifetime experience! Epic!
I fuuuuuucking looooove these guys!!!!!! Good job!!!
Love how the drummers are literally sharing parts of their sets. Awesome upload!
What it is really cool is that one is right handed and other is left handed so ... they look like playing in front a mirror.
Damn, it's freaking mind-blowing! It's like rediscovering the Houdini album... Thanx for sharing this. Love the way the drums sound!
This basis gives me the freaking chills!
My favorite Melvin s album rock on 30 years later still banging to it hell yeah🤘
Fucking love this. It was their night. Houdini was my introduction to the Melvin's.
This has haunting my every waking moment since I've first heard it. Thanks friend James for showing me this kick ass band!
thanks for the upload!
Top 5 best live shows I've seen on RUclips. This is fucking amazing and so I am amazed.
This is gold
Great video! Many thanks!
I ❤ The Melvins and Big Business. Been listening to Houdini since around '95. Saw them back in '11, the loudest show I've ever saw at the Roseland Theater. Saw Big Business with Red Fang in '16.
What a great Saturday treat, and me being a drummer its amazing seeing 2 playing as in perfect synchronicity
I got hypnotized by this and i´ll never be the same now. All thanks to The Melvins.
The drums work is just on another different level ♥♥♥
What an awesome set by ine of the greatest American rock bands ...incredible drums and great production.
Awesome! Can’t wait to see them In Portugal in July 🤘🤘🤘
This is a master class in the delicacy of arrangement. Every instrument in its perfect place within the song.
Thanks for uploading! :D
33 min in I’m a true believer in the melvins absolutely brilliant,
Holy shot! Love these guys!
This is just an amazing performance to any true fan of the record. It used to be part of my soundtrack as a teen in 93/94. I never had the chance to see them in that era, so to see this whole thing performed, with crystalline clear audio for that matter, is a real treat.
thx , big THX for this video ...Melvins 4 ever
the degree of astounding awesomeness that exists in this video of the set of Houdini in freakin Kreuzberg in that May of 2013..... it has been difficult to accept!!??.... Live film and sound does not get much better than this!... May aswell have been there, my week has been rounded off brilliantly!!... (and loudly!! : ) ).
I absolutely love Festsaal Kreuzberg! Too bad I didn't live in Berlin back then, but I can dream again about seeing The Melvins live there sometime...
Love love love!!! The best rock band ever! I feel this in my evening
Are those melvins @ 🎟 laguna meadows oh yeah best of luck
This is just one of the BEST fucking MELVINS live shows ever!!!
Long live King Buzzo!!!
You can thank these guys for being the inspiration for pretty much all the good to great rock/metal/alternative bands of the last 30 years. I fucking love this band!
Saw this tour. Was amazed. The two drum thing is amazing.
same here. At first I was like "who needs this?" Twenty seconds into the concert "why doesn't every band has this?!" 😁
HellYeah!! comin to Denver in August!! cant wait!!!
Always my fave mels album
In my top 10 albums for sure
THAT WAS AMAZING !!!
Simply Amazing! I love seeing Jarod and Coady playing with Dale and Buzz.......
We need to coincide double bass and double drum Melvins for science.
SCIENCE, I tell you.
Buy me Skittles you can play bass along?
I got goosebumps on the the beginning of night goat
night goat is still one of the heaviest songs of all time
Goddamn i love the Melvins. Watching Dale and Cody mirror one another is awe-inspiring.
my favorite melvins album
There is something about the two drum kits. Hits different.
Melvins you're fucking class!
Classic album. Timeless band.
When I saw them they had 2 bass players. 2 drummers is fucking next level awesome. I never really thought much of the Melvins studio recordings but Holy fuck they rip so hard live.
Man....the power of 2 drummers.....wow
Wish I had been at that show!!!!
Amazing…❤ for Melvins.
MELVINS ARE FUCKING GREAT. I'm 71, and I love the Melvins.
only king buzzo can pull off wearing a snuggy on stage :P
It's a muumuu.
Its a fuckin KING BUZZO original mens statment gown
This performance is f*cking amazing, just it! 🤘🔥♥️
watching the other guy drum alongside Dale is awesome.. the most oddly human drums ever.. love it
The drums are so harmonic that when the guitars stop but the drums don't, I can still hear the musicality of the phrase! Geniuses
Two drummers is fucking sick I wish I could've seen them with this lineup, the energy here is insane.
Saw them perform in this set up with Big Business - AWESOME!
The drumming is so creative so cool
Every single member was on point at this show, what I wouldn’t give
just discovered this group. how did I miss them all these years?
being gay 24/7
holy shit... this band is out of this world....... just great. the drums ... wow ....
This is pretty goddam awesome
Holy crap I feel old. I saw them play these songs when they were new.
1982?
Legendary!
Bye god that was freaking outstanding!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Prolly best vid I have ever laid eyes on. \m/ -,- \m/
the best band around for 25 years, & the last band I have seen since October 23rd, 2014. Next band is Animals As Leaders. Melvins
Wow what a Sound it blows me away
The melvins are just on a other level
Houdini - one oder the best pieces of music ever...pure power😊😈😇
Ive seen the Melvins play twice and they are probably one of the greatest rock bands ever.
Frickin' Melvins at their best. So utterly AWSOME. Buzzo, bring back twin drummers or diiiie!!!
Dale Crover's so phenomenal on the drums it's not fair.
I can't get my head around how hard it must be for both drummers to be so perfectly in time. Fuckin mad
used to have this on cassette, it was yellow!
who gives a fuck!
@scar box nobody asked for your opinion, moron.
Bill Riccio same, and i had ‘lysol’ on cassette too, but on the spine, “lysol” was covered by a black sharpie.
This is goddamn awesome.
This is fantastic. The drumming is,,,,yeah,, fantastic. (Well said)
