Last one I promise, half the girls were literal princesses, they could have explored so much with that. I hated the love triangle and the Brandon erasure, Sky and Brandon switching places because Sky was getting targeted as a prince, Stella dating a commoner thinking he was a prince, imagine the drama of it all. Yes!!! Omg exactly! I was ranting about taht to everyone I know, the original show had better, more mature plot lines than the live action that was supposed to be for more mature audiences! That whole switch around with sky and Brendan was so great, Stella and brandons relationship showed so much surprising depth bc of Stella not being snooty and Brendan loving her even without her beauty (in taht episode where she’s cursed). Not only that, but replacing the amazing bond between bloom and Stella with a love triangle was just the worst thing ever😭
@@LisaFevral exactly! Stella and Bloom being besties was the best thing, Brandon and Stella would've been so cute to watch, they were both so stupid but so sweet. The plotlines were handed to them... Secret fiance, fake identity, the literal genocide of a planet, secret princess with special powers, Aisha and her story as a cliffhanger for season 2. And I still can't get over the missed opportunity of having a witch/fairy couple watching the fairies and witches fighting and just eating popcorn and placing bets like "the winx will beat them, I heard Bloom got special main girl powers" and "nah the trix will win this one, Darcy won over the emo specialist boy"... Like ugh
Stella and Brandon also have an unexpected depth to them (all characters develop so well), the DRAMA with diasporo, sky and bloom is top tier! Musas family dynamic and being in the lower class despite being a fairy! Stellas throne being threatened, AISHA!! Omg aishas storylines are so good, SHES so cool and powerful, she was basically the main character in season two! Omg I forgot to also mention trix, like they’re so iconic and have such an interesting storyline (esp in season 1)
"why do you hate joy?" yes. that. 100%. That's my feelings about SO MANY dark / gritty remakes summed up. Like, no, actually, I didn't want you to suck the joy out of this childhood show I loved. Why couldn't we have a fun, colourful reboot? I grew up-- I didn't start seeing in black and white or sepia tones. I didn't start hating color. Why this then???
exactly! the show could've dealt with difficult topics and still have tons of colour/sparkle and genuine relationships/friendships, those things are not mutually exclusive. I think many of these show runners don't understand our preferences bc they didn't have to live their young adult years during a pandemic and a global economic recession ahaha
@AMINATA CISSE I've been wondering the same thing, bc the original already gave great plot lines to use and expand on, so why did they have to dumb it down and make it worse than the original while at the same time removing all colour?
I also cant help but wonder if its a leftover regressively misogynistic train of thought from the 2010s era of teen media that stated that the 'deeper' relatable character we're supposed to sympathize with would be the one to dress sensible and demure while the antagonists are the only ones remotely interested in fashion but coincidentally all coded as shallow, superficial and the bad kind of 'extra'. And considering what the costume team of Fate gave the most energy into interesting fashion was for the shows 'mean girl', it seems theyre still trying to stamp in that message onto the youth that only the shallow can care about their aesthetic
I think that something that winx had that fate is missing is the lack of appreciation for femininity. Not just the girls' love of fashion, but the cuteness, the colors, the sparkles, the magic, the friendship. It seems like they toned down every feminine aspect of the series to make it "palatable for boys too", but they destroyed what made winx... winx. It was unapologetically feminine. Now it's edgy and dark and masculine and not winx at all.
I just disconnect when you try and bring femininity and masculinity into this. The arguments are fine until you get into that convoluted mess. The show lost / gained a lot. One is for children and the other is not. To say the innocent cute, vivid colors and sparkles is expressively femininity. And the mature, darker bland adult version is expressly masculinity.... I don’t get it, just say it works better as a kids show.
@@analysis9479 I meant that they took away all the overly feminine things (fashion, bright colors, friendships, cuteness) to make it more appealing to male audiences. So as not to have the show labeled "for girls" and potentially turn part of the audience away. And that took away a lot of what made winx special.
@@analysis9479 dude they only gave explicit hyper femininity to the mean girl. Hollywood is still deliberately trying to tell teen girls that only shallow girls cam care about a girly aesthetic while the deeper and more relatable, ergo likable, people are the ones who dress sensible without calling attention to themselves. And the world hates when teen girls try to be both intellectual and aware of their style. Wake up dude
@@danisarmi30 the show only has one season and in it it shows the girls slowly becoming friends. friendships? Is that ONLY a girly thing. Tell that to the male MLP fans. Fashion? Tell that to the dudes who spend tons of money on shoes and cool brand clothing. Aisha wears more athletic style clothes, but bright colors. Musa wears a punky colorful outfit in a couple of the episodes. I agree they could have done better, but It will never be able to get on the level the animated series is on. It’s impossible, they definitely let down a lot of the original fans I’m not disagreeing with that. But Again, It works better as a kids show with a narrow target audience. They can’t make it so, and also target a larger mature audience.
Honestly I think we still have a chance to doing better maybe not Netflix but another team with the same budget as well I mean we have a lot of remake for the same show it's just the Netflix version who was bad
A different team could definitely do a different show, but it really difficult to sell a show like that to another network while there’s another version being produced and released at the same time. They ruined the opportunity for ppl to do it rn ☹️
It's another world where fairies exist, they could've made it a world where everyone dresses like crazy and super fashionable, not boring like in the real world
@@cylcyls exactly like it’s a whole other dimension. It could’ve been really Y2K but still really bold looking, like video game characters or something. Literally like the cartoon was highly based off fashion. I just hope that the producers listen and try to spice up season 2, since the intro has like different kind of wings I think they’ll be able to transform now, and hopefully give them combat uniforms within the transformation, and hopefully they can level up and earn enchantix
ikr? I watched almost all of them, if not all, and I'm a little sad that we didn't get a good Winx live action bc it would be a great way to take our minds off of the panoramic that we're in
@@antoniaandrasi4019 It's like if someone creates literal trash and says they were inspired by a piece of art, would it not be considered disrespectful 😂??
The missed oportunities is what makes me angry, imagine goth/emo/punk witches and pastel/lolita/fantasy/cyberpunk fairies, the specialits as eye candy, pastel faries dating goth witches. Using clothes to show character develpment, for example Bloom in plain clothes in the begining and then moving to more stylish clothes as she befriends Stella.
Omg right??? Can you imagine the gothic punk chic and fairy core Y2K couple?? More diversity is what we deserved too, especially in the romance department! Also Brandon, my fave himbo😭 and cyberpunk tecna! All of the original cartoon outfits are so inspiring in terms of what could’ve been done in the live action show. Also Stella in the cartoon is my fave character ever, and they decided to just make a mean spirited 40yo out of her(the clothes age her a lot)
@@LisaFevral I will never shut up about the Brandon and Tecna erasure, Himbos are literally so beloved rn, he would have becomed an instant fave, and they easily could have gone with andogryneous or nonbinary tecna for added diversity, so many missed oportunities. Also Stella breaking the mean girl steriotype while still being a spoiled brat is what made her special. I will never get over this.
Himbos are so in, even without knowing it they could’ve created an iconic reincarnation of the character by just including him in the show. Non binary tecna!!!! Yes!!! Stellas never been a mean girl as much as she was a spoiled hot head with a heart of gold! This adaptation reminded me just how much I loved the original show and honestly I wish it was done right, or at least in the vicinity of right bc this is so infuriating☹️
literally this! it would have BLOWN up on every social media, esp tiktok, of girls recreating the looks (and it fits many niches, like the makeup gurus, fashion enthusiasts, hair styling gurus etc.). Cant believe they missed the opportunity of styling them based on the source material....
The thing is the housewives actually had a colorful and youthfull wardrobe. Have you seen Gabrielle's wardrobe? It could have actually fit in a winx reboot.
i really hate that they took out all the femininity of the characters , like being feminine and liking to dress pretty is not a bad thing . also the WHOLE show is about friendship , and they made them hate each other .
The whole point of the show was that it’s bright and glittery and girly in the best ways possible. It’s both fun and has high stakes, which is fantastic. And the friendship part is always important to me in these stories so I was so disappointed they made them so unlikeable and be so unfriendly towards each other (I know they have to take time to get to know each other, but it’s no reason to make them hate each other at first or worse - compete for sky🤢)
alfea is literally a witch school in fate and the designers just had to go: "oh, fire powers=red, water powers=blue, etc" the original winx didn't do that, they mixed it up to match their personalities
the original powers were all individual too, no elements stuff. Elements are more like that W.I.T.C.H. show, idk if you've seen it before but they are like elemental fairies(guardians).
@@Jessica-ch1yi oh yeah witch is definitely a great show and fate would still not be well written enough to be faithful to witch, but the vibe of the setting and the older architecture inspired buildings would fit a witch adaptation rather than a winx one
As an og winx fan this was a huge wasted opportunity , the show could’ve been as big and popular as euphoria it had the perfect material to work with but they decided to make a 2009 the cw type show and expect it to be a hit in 2021🤦♂️ such a shame cuz this would be an incredible show if done right , they can still make a 180 and change and add a lot of things but I doubt it’ll happen
Right??? Did they genuinely think that we want a 2009 cw show? The creators said they were targeting the fans of the show as the demographic, so why did they make it so void of any winx flavour? I think even if they fix some things it’s not gonna be anywhere near what it could’ve been, unfortunately
@@LisaFevral lmao ikr, are they aware that their target audience’s fav and most popular show is euphoria , queens gambit , stranger things and etc , how did they think that a late 2000’s formula would work , also the show’s creator and head writer prev worked on the vampire diaries so it makes sense why the show came out the way it did , they literally did the bare minimum and thought it would be enough, like it was enough back in early 2010’s and late 2000’s , the same formula doesn’t work anymore, I really hope they listen to fan criticism and make it better for the second season
Yeah his approach to art direction is so similar to the vampire diaries and I think they need to finally understand that what’s they’ve done before has literally BEEN done and by them ahaha and winx is such a rare opportunity to make a genuinely beautiful, fashionable and forward thinking show! I think they thought that the fandom is just as big as the vampire diaries book fans, so I guess putting in effort is not necessary in that regard if you won’t be held up to a certain standard 🤦🏻♀️

Finally someone that mentions Flora's hair! I've been watching tons of reviews and restyling videos for Winx to see if someone would bring it up! The two-toned hair blew up so much last year and it continues to remain popular, and I was so pissed off to see how they threw away the perfect opportunity to use it on a character who already had it in her ORIGINAL design. When the trend started Flora was the first thing that came to my mind and the disappointment I feel with the choices for this show is enormous. Not to mention that I am latina so seeing my girl be whitewashed hurt so much.
It’s so interesting that winx had that two tone hair already, 16 years before it became a trend, and they entirely missed it and just didn’t use something that’s so obviously perfect for rn ☹️ and the whitewashing is just embarrassing tbh, flora deserves so much better
@@malou1563 She was whitewashed, the "Flora's cousin" situation is just a cover up to prevent backlash. In Eliot Salt's acting portfolio before the show premiered, she was stated to be playing Flora, not Terra. In an audition tape from someone who was going for the role of Riven, in the scene it's described he's waiting for Flora, not Terra. When they announced the casting auditions for Fate, new characters like Dane and Beatrix were already listed, but there was no mention of Terra, as the character in the list was Flora. Flora was whitewashed.
@@danibanez CRAP! I was really hoping to get a lightskin black or just meztina actress for season 2. Literally worst news of the day. They really messed this up..
Yes I can’t believe that they whitewashed my favorite character Musa because I see the music aspect of me in her and she suppose to be Asian either Chinese or Japanese as an Asian my self I want to see an Asian actress because that her root
I agree taking away the y2k fashion Made no sense. I feel if they made the outfits like the ones you posted it would have become very popular and many would make it a trend and recreate it.
UGH THE potential of this adaptation compared to the DELIVERY will forever anger me >:( that being said LOVE the new direction u pointed the outfits in PLEASE replace the original director and remake WINX FOR US
I just found an interview of Ignio Straffi (the man who created the Winx and possess the rights of the franchise). He literally said he was looking for a company to make a live action and that he LIKED NETFLIX'S IDEA. He really thought young adults who grew up with his girls would like this. I'm not even really surprised given he got the "cartoons are for children" mentality.
im gonna be honest, i watched the show and didn't realize it was the winx remake although it said winx...in the title. I didn't recognize any of the characters, nothing really reminded me of my childhood show that I loved because of the colors. I love how you are styling each character based on the cartoon!! honestly it would've been iconic if whoever was in charge of makeup, costume, lookbooks overall to see these videos and take it into consideration.
Yeah it’s soooo unrecognizable☹️ I wish they could’ve seen these and maybe reconsider their styling and art direction before it happened, but you know, it’s too late for that
Itzy stylist with rv stylist. I remember yeris pink flowery outfit for feel my rhythm and flora. It was FLORA. So girly so feminine so flowery. Rv stylist would be perfect for the girls.
I remember a joke they had in one of the later seasons where Stella had some pixies pretending to be her brushing her hair for hours and her hair was so ridiculously long they took like half a day before the teachers figured out she was missing, so when I saw they gave her barely under the shoulders length hair I was disappointed af
@@LisaFevral more than unfunny some of the stuff they did and said was infuriatingly out of character and made no sense at all, like they were actively trying to make us mad.
This is literally my favorite take on this show!! every outfit you selected is 10/10, I love your comments on "it doesn't have to be so dark!" and "we wanted glitter"!! It could have been so iconic ToT
I did not realize how important the setting was until you mentioned it. Because it’s needs to give off the magical/dreamy vibe. Because it’s supposed to be another planet, it’s not supposed to look so basic.
It’s supposed to be a whole other realm that to compare to our world is functioning solely on magic, so it’s crazy to me that the y did not consider it at all👀
I also feel like the argument of Body diversity over ethnic diversity is such a cop out. yes, they made Flora/Terra a plus size character but she is always the butt of the joke and she is dressed in the most unflattering way. they just wanted the check mark for plus size representation and then make fun of the character
You know what would have been cool: Aisha with survival bracelets and thread wrapped box-braids, or maybe with some even more bracelets but of colorful threads, with some pink and green elements.
The most funny thing to me is that Bloom says in the show that she was born in December 2004. That makes her more than a year younger than me and that girl looks like she is at least 5 years older than me. The cast in combination with the strange middle aged clothing type just DOES NOT work. In conclusion: nothing in this show makes sense and they definitely should have hired you to design their outfits :/
I came from a small city, and people my age used to dress like their parents to appear more cool and sophisticated and it only changed in the last few years.
sherliza moe also has a GREAT video about this!! she even drew her outfit ideas and they're BEAUTIFUL and incredibly intricate:) love this video as well just think more people should also see sherlizas designs cause they are GORGEOUS
Do you think the costume designer will be replaced for season 2? I hope they get someone like you that can make these outfits something everyone si going to want to adapt to their wardrobe or even dress up for Halloween.
I honestly have a feeling that it wasn't the stylists' fault entirely, bc based on the writing/directing/set design choices they were deliberately going for this vibe for the show so if there going to change the show in season 2 they cant pin it all down on the stylist bc they most of the time do what the art director wants... I hope they change whoever made these decisions but idk if they will!
Yours is by far my favorite restyling, I think it fits the characters, their age in the show, and the current trends without being too much. They really wasted the oportunity to go wild with fashion considering the fairy and witch settings.
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed the looks! I think so too, it makes me genuinely upset that we could’ve gotten something so magical and stylish to watch rn and instead we got these khaki 2012 fashion☹️
Love how you didn’t make the outfits ridiculous. A lot of people are picking wild styles that are on the runway. But companies pick outfits to grab attention, not for the average person. Not saying outfits can’t be fun, but it’s not exactly made for tv show characters.
A similar situation this reminds me of is when BRATZ The Movie came out live action, and they hit ALL THE MARKS with that masterpiece recreation. Proper casting, proper characteristics akin to each girl... I wish that was the direction they took. Just remember y’all, stay true to the art you’re adhering to! 👏👏👏👏
The movie was....a choice, but overall they got the costumes spot on: Jade being more alternative, Yasmin being more boho, Cloe being more casual and sporty etc.
Yeah some ppl were saying that they want them to fix it but the issues are so fundamental (like the setting they chose) that I don’t think it’s at all possible
I love how u included the trix 😭 they’re my fav part of the show. I haven’t seen any winx club restyling vids doing them so I was pleasantly surprised when u did
I hate how badly they failed at color theory. Bloom wore blue bc it contrasted well with her hair and fire powers! The amount of red they drown bloom in the remake is so much eye strain
Omg the techna silver cyber punk lady.... I remember seeing her at Seoul fashion week (where the pic is from), and her husband (I believe he was her husband) was dressed the same! They were a super fun pair of outfits to see
Right?! They feel more witchy than fairies, especially with the lack of transformations! XD And now their going after our Power Puff Gurlsss, RIP To OGs Xd P.S. luv your ideas! Keep up the good work and Winx Out! 🦋
Yeah so much brown and khaki colours too ahaha omg yeah, I think they’re gonna make it dark for powderpuff girls too 😭 And thank you sm, I really appreciate it 🥰🧚🏻🧚🏻
YES! I've been saying that this approach to a reboot would've suited W.i.t.c.h. in both style and tone so much better! It just doesn't fit Winx at all ( though I'm of the opinion that I'd rather have an animated reboot for either show than a live action anyway. Let things be animated! Fairy and witch magic in animation is so cool, why trade it for shitty CGI?)
I very much agree!!! If they wanted something dark and edgy, they could've maybe made an alternative winx club thing where the characters are in the other academy,Cloud Tower or just completely different characters in Cloud Tower and it would've been so much cooler and original but instead they gave us the original Winx Club characters without their originality stripped away.
They should’ve had cloud tower as a part of the world and witches as a separate school, it would’ve been so cool and so much potential for gothic inspired looks!
sorry for the lack of full captions right now, youtube refuses to give automatic captions to help speed the process up, so I have to caption all 40 minutes from scratch. I'm trying to finish it as soon as possible, the full is gonna be available in a couple of days!😘
1. The funny thing is that it seems like you could get any white redhead to play Bloom and it would be fine; whereas for all the girls there's a lot of thought that needs to be put in for casting 2. In the og Winx, the girl's main colours were contrasting to their powers. Bloom's blue contrasted her orange/red fire, Stella's green contrasted her yellow/orange light, Musa's red contrasted her purple powers, Flora wore pink to oppose her green powers, Techna wore purple for the same, and Aisha was green while her powers were pink. However in Fate, they just went with the power=colours palette.
In broad terms you could get anyone for any role as long as they had the right race etc to not erase representation, but in terms of character execution it’s more on writers and the performance itself ahah
its been 2 months since i binged videos like this, so seeing this again is making me brainstorm ideas and now i'll be drawing it, thank you very much for giving me inspiration to do fanart of my childhood show. also musa! we literally have kpop idols being one of the most popular things ever since 2017! just check them and their music videos out, their airport outfits, their social media? come ON just look at their makeup like please. also can we throw away the 'blond girl' is automatically the boyfriend stealing mean girl? it was done well in Mean Girls but never again since
I’m glad you can get some inspiration from this vid🥰 and omg ikr? And it’s not like their influence is only in the east, with bts being the biggest boy band in the world they really can’t say that they didn’t know that there’s so much out there right now that would work for musa! Also Stella is a treasure and I’m mad they gave her this new mean girl that looks like 40yo look😭
I'm in the age and interest demographics where I should have definitely watched the original show when it aired, and yet I never did, but after all the styling videos I've seen abt this show, you made me go and google examine their characters and realize that each one of them can be easily pigeonholed into a popular, relevant 'tiktok' aesthetic which again, goes in hand with what you said about the potential style inspiration literally being at their fingertips. I think their directorial vision for their looks was supposed to be so subtle and humble that any girl or woman can relate and see themselves in them, but it deliberately glosses over how teens today are taking a more individualized and uninhibited approach to style than ever before. More than ever, kids are taking fashion risks and being aesthetically bold, and caring less and less about ~blending in~ and its just another blatant reminder of how further and further removed from their target audiences companies like Freeform, (who consider themselves experts on teen culture) are getting
Yeah you’re definitely right, it’s so clear that teens are more likely to identify with a highly individualized, even if not exactly their taste, style. They seem to appreciate this approach a lot more, not to mention that due to fashion cycles winx club style would’ve been perfect for the current wave of Y2K and 90s inspiration! It’s a shame that these companies don’t experiment more and underestimate their audience due to their age.
This video is just 10/10. I was not expecting this to be so inspiring. Like i am actually inspired by these clothes. And the show didn’t even consider anything like this even though those clothes were literally worn by the cartoon charactes? I will never understand. Was it really so hard to believe that this is what we wanted?
Thank you🤍 yeah, they could’ve even looked at what teens want to wear today and gotten it closer to what it should be, but they decided to go back in time to 2013 and pick out the worst items from that time
This show really could have been huuuuge, so many people wanted to see it, expecting smth colorful with transformations - like at least make it bright and not gloomy teenager drama thing
I think it's possible to make a show that's both for adults AND isn't a cop out in terms of art direction, idk why they didn't even try with this adaptation when Winx is perfect for that
Musa was my absolute favorite character in the original show. It went away a bit in later seasons with her hair and fashion changes, but in the first couple seasons she always came off to me as someone who was a mix of feminine and a tomboy. Like she loves fashion and loves to dress up and wear pretty dresses every once in a while, but she also dresses comfortable and chill and wears things like cargo pants and sneakers often (like her original casual outfit and a lot of what you showed). Style wise I also see her being someone that wouldn't wear heels unless they're chunky platforms or boots (which i mean, was a lot of what they wore in the original). She's also a bit edgy and punk and loves to rock out, clearly. I could see her also having a hobby like skateboarding. She's spunky and outgoing but also laid back at the same time. What they did to her was just an absolute crime. Same thing for all the other characters obviously, but Musa being my favorite, it extra hurt. edit: she could have EASILY had a mix of american and asian street style and been PERFECT and not whitewashed. another edit: I honestly didn't realize how just BAD Stella looks when I was watching the show... As much as I just went on about Musa, they definitely did Stella the dirtiest, especially since her style would be pretty much the easiest to emulate since it's like you said, just girly femme bombshell. The majority of Stella's personality was her love for fashion and they put her in literally the worst, most ugly, baggy (WHEN AND WHERE DO YOU SEE STELLA WEARING A N Y T H I N G BAGGY LIKE THAT?) outfit that wouldn't be suitable for ANY character and especially not her. that outfit would be Stella's worst nightmare. also the feminine gold jewelry you showed would be SO fitting and pretty on her, I feel like it would be just EXACTLY something she would wear and it definitely emulates sunshine/solaria energy to me. another edit lol: I said this on your other winx video but the fact that Terra is very obviously a character that was made last minute only due to the backlash they received just irks me beyond belief.
A Winx remake could’ve easily been a nostalgic ride back to early 2000s but with magic! I loved the outfits of the girls; obviously you’d have to alter a lot to fit each actress, and possibly age up some of the outfits so they don’t look pre-teen/teen (if you’re using an older cast) and it doesn’t have to be all early 2000s vibes. But damn it, that is the most simple they could’ve gotten, and yet they decided to change the aesthetic entirely!
Oh my gosh the east asian models she used for musa were SO beautiful 😭 the potential the show had to cast any one of those beautiful women. Who cares about acting ability at this point
the fact that they did not make Musa who she is her home is melody it looks inspired by china or japan .keyword melody means she is the fairy of music instead of mind fairy really they could have found someone who a full Asian descend for the role of Musa
@@chloeeng6811 exactly. They found time to create a whole new character : Terra in a shallow attempt to provide us with Techna and Flora but failed majorly on both counts. They need to do better. I feel like we should all write in or something ...

Honestly! u did a such a great job! I absolutely love this video!!!! thank you for taking your time and making this video and giving us a really good view of what the show could really look like if only they had any sense of style and knew how to handle it.
would sell my soul to watch a live action version that does have these outfits and all the glitter and colour and sparkly fairy futuristic light academia vibes
They would have to put a lot of money into making it more appropriate to film in (it doesn’t have that much space for equipment and stuff) and to renovate everything, but it would have been great if they did🧚🏻
saw a few kpop girlies up there as inspo and now thinking about it kpop fashion (on stage putfits but also what idols wear on the regular) so much of it would work so well for winx
winx proposed a different view for magic (modern, advanced, colorfull) but fate ignored that and gave us the same old and dark image that we already seen before. I still cant belive that they decided not to put Tecna (and Timmy) an analytic girl that loves tecnology could fit perfectly on a "teen show". not all girls/women behave the same, the cartoon understood that better and gave us diverse looks, styles and personalities same with the specialists they were all different but Fate just gave us Sky and Riven and they doesnt seen too different on their style. i couldnt remember if they wore everyday outfits XD i had to google it and they both were wearing a tshirt and jacket
saw a reviewer once call this show's costuming something that unfashionable women in their 40s would wear rather than young adults/teenagers and yeah I think thats the perfect way to describe this show's fashion direction

Yeah most of the girls are princess
"why do you hate joy?"
yes. that.
@@artisticbeautybyhanako6801 I 100% agree tbh, it definitely is coming from a misogynistic approach
I didn't start seeing in sepia tones 😂. Omg yeah, I feel like the producers just made stupid excuses🤔
Omg this! Yes yes yes! But also the plot lines aren’t even good enough to justify that so idk where they were going with this mess
They literally had the power to be as big as Euphoria now it’s just sad
Ikr, it was genuinely right in front of them, idk why they missed the opportunity
Everyone I've seen on RUclips who have compiled a list of looks for the girls has done a million times better than the show.

This adaptation reminded me just how much I loved the original show and honestly I wish it was done right, or at least in the vicinity of right bc this is so infuriating☹️

i really hate that they took out all the femininity of the characters , like being feminine and liking to dress pretty is not a bad thing .
also the WHOLE show is about friendship , and they made them hate each other .
The whole point of the show was that it’s bright and glittery and girly in the best ways possible. It’s both fun and has high stakes, which is fantastic. And the friendship part is always important to me in these stories so I was so disappointed they made them so unlikeable and be so unfriendly towards each other (I know they have to take time to get to know each other, but it’s no reason to make them hate each other at first or worse - compete for sky🤢)
alfea is literally a witch school in fate
and the designers just had to go:
"oh, fire powers=red, water powers=blue, etc"
the original winx didn't do that, they mixed it up to match their personalities
the original powers were all individual too, no elements stuff. Elements are more like that W.I.T.C.H. show, idk if you've seen it before but they are like elemental fairies(guardians).

Fun fact : winx architecture was inspired by art nouveau. That's why it feels like dark academia mixed with fantasy.
Ohh I didn’t know that! That makes so much sense

Yess, it looks very fantasical yet modern
It's great but the pink was always a little garish. Haha.

Each girl signature element :
Bloom : denim
Stella : headbands
Flora : flowers
Tecna : zippers & buckles
Musa : armbands & arm warmers
Aisha : walking shoes
Yeah I agree, those definitely seem signature to them!
Flora isn't white, in fact Flora isn't in the show yet. She's Terra's cousin.
@@malou1563 She was whitewashed, the "Flora's cousin" situation is just a cover up to prevent backlash. Why do every youtuber that review this understand the wind club’s fashion more than the actual designer?😰
Idk I’ve been thinking the same thing 😳
I don't know, but it might be the same problem for why concept art always looks better than the final movie/show.
Omggg yeah, that explains a lot honestly aha
Eh he also made Bloom dress like a kindergartner in later seasons of the cartoon, so he's not that wise.

Me too! They said they were making it for the fans of the original show who are in their 20s now, and they gave us this☹️
Not gonna lie, it is disappointing. Shows/books just don't grow with people besides Harry Potter.
I remember a joke they had in one of the later seasons where Stella had some pixies pretending to be her brushing her hair for hours and her hair was so ridiculously long they took like half a day before the teachers figured out she was missing, so when I saw they gave her barely under the shoulders length hair I was disappointed af
True, I was more surprised by her personality being so unfunny though
@@LisaFevral more than unfunny some of the stuff they did and said was infuriatingly out of character and made no sense at all, like they were actively trying to make us mad.
Yeah it’s genuinely so infuriating, every single thing about their personalities was switched to something random
This is literally my favorite take on this show!! every outfit you selected is 10/10, I love your comments on "it doesn't have to be so dark!" and "we wanted glitter"!! It could have been so iconic ToT
Thank you, I would’ve loved to have a show like that to watch rn it would’ve been so fun omg
I did not realize how important the setting was until you mentioned it. Because it’s needs to give off the magical/dreamy vibe. Because it’s supposed to be another planet, it’s not supposed to look so basic.
It’s supposed to be a whole other realm that to compare to our world is functioning solely on magic, so it’s crazy to me that the y did not consider it at all👀
It looks like they're in England and it makes no sense.
I also feel like the argument of Body diversity over ethnic diversity is such a cop out. yes, they made Flora/Terra a plus size character but she is always the butt of the joke and she is dressed in the most unflattering way. they just wanted the check mark for plus size representation and then make fun of the character
Yeah that’s the issue, they literally made all the conflict for her character about that, and that’s ridiculous omg
It's not even as important as ethnic diversity, because weight is not part of who you are, forever.
You’re right, They clearly didn’t research what the core of the show is, so the weird casting choices show that too!

I feel like the whole crew of the show were supposed to research it but just kept procrastinating and just ... guessed it ig?
Yeah that’s what I’m thinking too, bc the choices they’ve made are not creative but rather lazy
The way you were so proud of the first Stormy hairstyle you showed is adorable.

I wanted to make it look similar to what the original had, and they had very Y2K style that was quite realistic i think 🧚🏻

1. The funny thing is that it seems like you could get any white redhead to play Bloom and it would be fine; whereas for all the girls there's a lot of thought that needs to be put in for casting
Oh yeah I don’t really like how they chose the most obvious colour-scheme for the girls in fate, it really dulls it down

Thank you🤍 yeah, they could’ve even looked at what teens want to wear today and gotten it closer to what it should be, but they decided to go back in time to 2013 and pick out the worst items from that time
@@LisaFevral yes they could also look on Pinterest for Ideas
I love that you did the Trix too
they are soooo iconic, I had to ahaha
This show really could have been huuuuge, so many people wanted to see it, expecting smth colorful with transformations - like at least make it bright and not gloomy teenager drama thing
I think it's possible to make a show that's both for adults AND isn't a cop out in terms of art direction, idk why they didn't even try with this adaptation when Winx is perfect for that
they should've made the set of Alfea like paradise hills
Omg yes, plus some technology
@@LisaFevral and really old hotel/castles like those in california.
One of them could’ve been for the cloud tower too!
9:33 omg blackpink's jennie lol
12:55 itzy's yeji also omfg
Ahaha yeah
*Lovesick Girls playing in the brackground-*
21-25 year olds would have done a much better job making this show
yeah, it seems like it!
i see yeji and i screamed
Ikr it was all right there available for them but they decided to ignore it omfg
Yours is the best styling vid I have seen so far imo!
Oh thank you🤍🤍🧚🏻
tecnas heels always reminded me of a modern style chair
This is my fave restyling video out of all the ones i've watched, thanks so much for including trix!!!
I’m glad you enjoyed it🥰🥰
Very high editing quality 😍
Oh my gosh the east asian models she used for musa were SO beautiful 😭 the potential the show had to cast any one of those beautiful women. Who cares about acting ability at this point
The fact that they had a diverse cast in the original and they just made the cast a lot less diverse for a 2021 version is criminal😭
@@LisaFevral just the most backwards ass thinking. I feel like we should all delete Netflix and revolt over it 😂😂
@@mali___4673 I think we have to at this point omg ahaha
the fact that they did not make Musa who she is her home is melody it looks inspired by china or japan .keyword melody means she is the fairy of music instead of mind fairy really they could have found someone who a full Asian descend for the role of Musa
@@chloeeng6811 exactly. They found time to create a whole new character : Terra in a shallow attempt to provide us with Techna and Flora but failed majorly on both counts. They need to do better. I feel like we should all write in or something ...
I enjoyed the video very much! Here are my opinions (had to orgnize them cause I had so many...)
Bloom is SPOT ON. I think the dress you chose could be something Stella designed for her for a special party...
The shiny hair clips should DEFINETALLY be part if the transformation look. Its very fairy-esque.
Love your choices for Musa. The glovelook especially.. I can see her grabbing a mic with her gloved arm lol
The red dress could becool for a date or a party!
I am YELLING at your realization about Flora's hair. How did I not figure this out???
Aisha-ugh, blush+lipgloss look could have been iconic
I lovehow youve also done the trix! I think they were replaced by one character in the show so the writers wont have that many characters to worry about...
All in all, good vid! I also did a video about redesigning winx, would live for you to check it out!!
you're right, the shiny clips could be such a good part of the transformations! I like your video as well🤍🧚🏻
when you mentioned the difficulty in finding the right pictures, esp arm warmers, i felt that :( i did several styles for my class in fashion design and it was pain finding the perfect pic
Omg just searching things up never works, gotta do so much to find something that works ahaha
Honestly! u did a such a great job! I absolutely love this video!!!! thank you for taking your time and making this video and giving us a really good view of what the show could really look like if only they had any sense of style and knew how to handle it.
I'm glad you liked it! I just couldn't believe how they complete missed the vibe of winx
5:11 Looks georgeous definitely fits Bloom. I'd add some singlet under that
not jennie being my ultimate and musa being my favorite winx- i love you
Okay but like, you are literally stunning! Also love your videos! So enjoyable 💓💓💓
oh thank youuuu🥰
I feel like Stella became Diaspro in Fate.
yes! that's what I feel like too
would sell my soul to watch a live action version that does have these outfits and all the glitter and colour and sparkly fairy futuristic light academia vibes
Me too, me too😭
Did you know that there is a winx club theme park in Italy with a real life alfea?! They could've shot the whole series there!!
They would have to put a lot of money into making it more appropriate to film in (it doesn’t have that much space for equipment and stuff) and to renovate everything, but it would have been great if they did🧚🏻
@@LisaFevral they have the money but yeah I think it would be expensive but it would probably be a success
i remember when everyone shipped bloom and icy not knowing they were related
Wait what😳😳 they are related??? I can’t find anything about it omg
How are they related?
same, when i found out they were cousins i was like....bruh
@@mochitea5638 wait seriously-
@@mochitea5638 where was that introduced?? I wanna read about it
saw a few kpop girlies up there as inspo and now thinking about it kpop fashion (on stage putfits but also what idols wear on the regular) so much of it would work so well for winx
7:35 holy shit that explains so much
i love this and i love your commentary, gonna subscribe 💖
❤️❤️ thank you😌
winx proposed a different view for magic (modern, advanced, colorfull) but fate ignored that and gave us the same old and dark image that we already seen before. I still cant belive that they decided not to put Tecna (and Timmy) an analytic girl that loves tecnology could fit perfectly on a "teen show". not all girls/women behave the same, the cartoon understood that better and gave us diverse looks, styles and personalities same with the specialists they were all different but Fate just gave us Sky and Riven and they doesnt seen too different on their style. i couldnt remember if they wore everyday outfits XD i had to google it and they both were wearing a tshirt and jacket
it is just sad honestly, and also the guys in the cartoon were wearing crop tops often and that was a LOOk
ty for including the trix!
I love their design so much! really great villains
Imagine If the live action was actually good and Helia was there too. I feel like they could of done so much more with the trix and the boys. 😭😭
I’ll never stop being upset about not having Brendon in the show, but tbh just having the right characters wouldn’t fix the adaptation for me ahah
@@LisaFevral anddd Tecna having a lilac mullet. Mullets are coming back and look so good on girls. I could definetly see her rocking one.
@@nevermind3421 omg that would literally be perfect!
saw a reviewer once call this show's costuming something that unfashionable women in their 40s would wear rather than young adults/teenagers and yeah I think thats the perfect way to describe this show's fashion direction
Stella would've beaten EVERYONE'S ASSES about the clothes they gave her live action self in fate xD no way in hell she would've allowed that! XD
RIGHT??? I was BAFFLED
netflix thinks teens would wear the outfits from winx saga but HELL NO WOULD NOT WANT TO DIE WEARING THOSE
Yeah idk where they got the idea from that teens would wanna wear that, just look at what teens wear now and build off of that haha
winx is an italian cartoon, as an italian, i feel so hurted to see this clothes on the show 💔
Omg ikr the clothes were such a big part of it, we all grew up with these iconic designs😭
