@@lauriehuttunen4202 Well, hello there! I knew there was something special about Nora that made me instantly drawn to her podcast even though she probably is 30 years younger than I am 😊 She is a talented lady. Her great grandmother would have been proud of her. My great grandmother taught me to knit. She was born in 1892 and lived to be over 90. She lived with us on the farm in the Turku archipelago. Aunt Laurie here. I watched about 2/3 of this before i went to work and have been watching the last third after work while my dinner is in the oven. First of all, the tee looks incredible by itself and even better on you. Of course im highly prejudiced because youre working with one of my favorite color ranges. The length looks perfect on uou and will allow you to do your bridal hair styling with your arms way up in the air without exposing any skin. Next, the coloreork sweater is looking beautiful and i cant believe the progress youve made. I absolutely love the burgundy yarn you bought! You must get more before they sell out. It would make a great tee or shell under your leather jacket. Just a thought..... Great video!
🥰🥰🥰 thank you!! Isn’t the color so good?? I’m really glad I persisted and made it as long as I did-I’m really so thrilled with it! Thank you! I definitely had a very fruitful knitting week…as for the burgundy yarn, they only had a few left when I was there last but I was thinking the same. It’s one of my favorite colors and I definitely think I need more of it in my wardrobe
If you like the Truboo yarn, you should try the Coboo yarn by LionBrand. It's soooooooo good. I have crocheted with truboo and I've knitted with coboo. I gotta switch them sometime! I love your channel! I only just started knitting last year and I feel like you're just a bit ahead of me in skill so perfect to learn from!! ❤
The Farnham Tee is gorgeous, you did a beautiful job with it! Your pairing of the universal yarn & truboo really works. To me I see it as a classy evening top to wear with a tailored black jacket. Love the way you’re working on your stash, great job 👏🏻
Congratulations on so many Subscribers. I always enjoy your podcast and seeing what you knit. I don’t know how you knit so fast. I’m knit much slower. I am crocheting boho granny shawls. I have made 4 now out of my sock leftovers. They are so darn pretty. I get so many compliments when I wear them out. So colorful.
Hey Nora 🥰 I am portuguese living in London and have discovered you recently. Absolutely love your energy! You're a great company for my crafts. I half saw your video in the evening, half in the morning before going to work. Hope you have a lovely day. 💗
Exactly what I was going to say 😃 I’m totally going to try the “Broke Girl Hack”. I love my clicker counters, but so do the little people who live with me 🤭
Hahha isn’t it though?? Thank you!! I was a little nervous that it’d be too snug for my liking but I think it will be dressed up nicely with a more figure hugging fit!
It is my favorite!! I also forgot to mention that when I do the 3 needle bind off, I size up by at least a needle size or two in the 3rd needle to make sure it’s not too tight!!
Your color work sweater looks wonderful. I also agree that the sizing is spot on for you. I often have an issue with circular yolk sweaters being too big and the sleeves huge if I knit to my bust size. I have to do by my upper bust. I am in awe of your adventurous knitting. I have been knitting for a longer period of time and often default to easy and comfortable.
Thank you so much!! I haven’t done too many circular yikes yet, but I am always so nervous after seeing other people’s. I think this one is just right!! I really appreciate you saying that. It’s in my nature to dive in head-first to all things. I can only hope that a little bit of that rubs off on you all…you’re more capable than you know!! 💛
Nora, your colorwork sweater is impressive!!!! Congratulations 🎉 on your first colorwork knit. That's it, you're Superwoman, conquering the knitting world, one stitch at a time. And the Farnham Tee is beautiful. Happy knitting 💚🧶💚
Your gorgeous use-what-you've-got mindset just screams old-money. I picture you running around in a 1960s Land Rover Defender (the kind the Queen knew how to fix) and sailing in a wood-hulled boat on the weekends. What an aspirational vibe --
Back after watching the video, with my afternoon coffee. That Farnham Tee with an I-cord is reeeeally speaking to me, I'll have to add it to my (neverending) list of what I'd like to knit. You look great in it, the colour is so nice on you!
I need to start having an afternoon coffee 😅 I think it just changes the finished result so much!! I love that I have the pattern and can make a tee that looks entirely different with just a few little changes! Thank you so much 🥰
@@akaNoraKnits It's kind of a tradition where I'm from, coffee accompanied by a slice of cake (at least Sundays). It's a moment to slow down :) It does change so much!
I just finished a toddler dress for my little niece this week that has a folded picot hem. I wish I would have been able to watch this video before finishing, because that trick of going down a needle size to help prevent the flaring out is such a hot tip!
Aww so cute!!! I will say that I almost don’t mind the flare on some picot edges because they tend to be so sweet, it almost looks intentional sometimes? But definitely worth a shot!!!
I love your stitch marker tricks! I'm going to try that next time I have a certain amount of inches to go because I do the same thing measuring every two rows thinking I'm done!
Your Farnham tee looks so beautiful on you. It's so fun each week to see where you've been in the past seven days on your knitting journey. Have you considered offering a tutorial of some kind of a " watch me knit" segment.? We are all amazed at your skill level at this early stage of your knitting life. I would love to see you in action. By the way, love juniper moon yarn. Yardage for days.
Thank you!!! I’ll have to keep that idea in mind for when the situation arises! I really appreciate that 🥰 I’m so excited about the juniper moon!! It seems so beautiful, I can’t wait to work with it!
Your Farnham tee turned out so beautifully! It's worth considering the weight of a full length duster for your pocket placement. Even if your swatch didn't grow lots with blocking, you still might want to place the pocket in a place that feels kinda high right now. The length of the coat means it's gonna be heavy and gravity is gonna gravity, you know?
Absolutely!! I definitely don’t want the pockets to be too low. I had blocked the cardigan after the sleeves were started to check the fit at that point. I assumed it would have grown more in length already at that point, but the before and after blocking of the entire top of the cardigan did not grow in length at all. I was really surprised, but I want to take that into consideration…while also knowing that a much longer cardigan will certainly be a different story! Definitely proceeding with caution! Thank you!!
Definitely wash that swatch for the tank with some dish soap or wool wash before you drop a needle size. If it does have spinning oil on it, the soap with cut through that and potentially allow the yarn to bloom. It may fill those gaps more than you expect! Always wash your swatch the same way you intend to wash your finished object! Swatching is for more than just checking gauge: it's also your opportunity to "interview" the yarn and needles TOGETHER to make sure you're getting the fabric you want. When I learned that, it drastically changed my opinion on swatching, and now I don't start a wearable project without it! Edit: all your projects are looking gorgeous! Your work is so inspiring!
