I just watched an hour-long video about a cardigan that I am never going to knit myself. It's just so satisfying to have someone talk about knitting while you yourself are knitting!
omg Nora I am LIVING for this cozy project vlog format from you - need so many more of these!!! I’ve already knit my folklore cardigan and had a lot of the struggles you remedied with your spreadsheet! you really work smarter not harder 👏🏻
🌴☀️Dear Nora. Thanks for taking the time to press record, edit & and quite frankly even friggin “feel like” documenting this to share with us, you are the diamond in the ruff thanks so very much for this surprise video xoxo☀️🌴
I really liked this style of project vlog! They're not usually my favorite videos to watch, but I really enjoyed having the segments where you talked about the experience afterwards and answered questions at the end!
You are so inspiring! I think I’m going to start my first sweater and you gave me the courage to do it! Thank you so much! So glad I ran across your podcast one day😁😁😁❤️
Thank you so so so much for being here!! I love that you are feeling encouraged to try something new!! Definitely stay in touch and let us know how it goes! I’m certain you’ve got this!! 💛
Here is my trick for knitting cable patterns and lace repeats. I use spiral bound 3x5 cards and I put each cable repeat on each card. If I am working with more than one cable in a pattern I will color code the cards. I use sticky tabs so I can label each card to make flipping to the instructions easier without losing my place in the pattern. I know you have finished the sweater but I hope this advice will help you next time.
Nora! 2 words - so cool!! Wow what a huge effort to do this vlog not to mention how aaaaahmazing this sweater turned out - thank you for sharing! You have a gift!
The sweater looks amazing! I can’t believe how you overcame all the issues with the pattern. If you haven’t watched The Unapologetic Knitter podcast? She’s a tech editor and has the best tips on so many things! She explains so clearly and has so much knowledge! I think you might love it.
@@akaNoraKnits yes! Please do because I know, by how you talk and think about mods, you will get so much out of it. She has a great one on adding short rows and the proportions of different ways to do it. Watching the way you did it for Folklore made me think about it.
Hi! I'm working on the back and so far so good due to your amazing spreadsheets! Thank you so much for this tutorial also - I was actually stuck until I saw you explain how to work the back neck. Awesome video and I'm so glad you take your time to create these for us!! Hugs from Texas!!
Hello!!!! Yayyy!!!! I don’t think I could have done it without the spreadsheets 😂 I’m Soo glad you’ve found this helpful!! Please learn from my mistakes lol
I will not be knitting this cardigan but I appreciate all the time and effort you put into this and I appreciate you always being honest ❤ thank you for everything Nora
I'm knitting a beast of a cable sweater at the moment and have shared so many moments with you - the highs of reaching key moments and the lows of frogging big sections. I also had issues with laddering when moving from the knit of the cable to the purl of the ground. It happens as you introduce extra yarn when bring the yarn forward to purl. I worked out a quick fix: purl that stitch and then take the yarn back as if to knit - instead of knitting give the yarn a tug (you will feel the extra yarn being pulled through) and then take the yarn forward and carry on purling. Anyway, one of your best episodes ever. So inspirational!
Awww I love to hear that! Thank you so so much for the tip! I’ll definitely have to give that a try in my next cable knit! Thank you so much for the compliment and for watching!!
To be honest when I saw the individual panels, I was a little worried that you went too far in scaling the sweater down. I was very happy and relieved that it fit your cousin so well and she loves it! It was also generous of you to offer to make her a larger size someday because it was a lot of work!❤
Hi Nora. Your LB cardigan is lovely. I will pass on doing it because I don't have it in me to do piecework but I do have it in me to cheer you on -- 📣Yay, good job, NORA!
Your vlog was great. The cardigan turned out beautifully. I'm glad Emma loves it. Like many others, this is not a project I plan to take on. I tend to avoid cables, although I have done many projects with them. Good for you, Nora.
Thank you so much!!! I did my best to capture the full experience of knitting a garment and I’m really glad that it came across!! Thanks for always being here 🥰
This was a WOW 🤩 VIDEO! ❤ The sweater is beautiful, and the work you put into it is amazing. I recall when you mentioned you were going to do the short rows and now seeing the sweater I am so impressed how every detail came together. It’s interesting how something many of us don’t like doing really makes a difference. Great video and wonderful job! Thank you for sharing everything. Definitely a very informative video.❤
Thank you so SO much!!! ❤️ it is so true!! I do my best to avoid the short rows when I can 😂 but the extra few minutes made all the difference. I so appreciate your feedback and just thank you so much for watching!!
Yes I agree the short rows for the neck and the shoulder shaping if I make it again, I used an arran yarn as I'm in UK. The black yarn strips I knit the first colour change row 1 all knit ,row 2 knit one purl one and same with first row of change back to main colour(right side). The only difficulty I had was the setup row after that stitch markers were my friend. It took me three weeks to knit the whole garment, I mainly crochet these days but special request from gd.
P.S. Would you consider doing a Q & A sometime? I'm curious about your journey from crochet to knitting, as I'm primarily a crocheter but also like to watch knitting content.
thank you so much for all the detail on the pattern and adjustments. i also want to make this with less ease than the official "smallest" pattern size, so your information was so helpful ❤
I love this pattern but I also hate it so much! I can't for the love of god, understand the front left panel decrease part (I'm stuck there and haven't done the right panel). It's not making sense to me AT ALL at the body-shaping section 😫
It is totally a tricky one!!! I definitely messed mine up a little there. My best advice is to add a lifeline before you start the shaping and then do your best to just trust exactly what the pattern says to do there. That way, if things don't look right, you can always frog back to the lifeline and start over again! I'm sure you can figure it out!!!
I have been using the charts provided in the project notes on ravelry by Ninjaess. Would not have attempted this without those. I understand this is a free pattern, but Lion Brand could have made it a little easier.
You didn't rip back a full 9 rows did you? You just ripped back those 8 stitches back for 9 rows or so. If you don't know how to do that just look up some videos, it's easy. If you are not familiar, please do some practice swatches, you'll never rip out full rows, just for a couple of stitches again. 💜 Also those gaps you mentioned are because purls use more yarn. You can fix those gaps by twisting the stitches. ( Or so I've been told!) Thank you for sharing, sweater looks great. Doing sleeves together is a great idea. 💜
@@akaNoraKnits After many years of knitting I only recently started doing cables, and only figured out that I could rip back a small number of stitches instead of entire rows after making a number of mistakes on a complicated jumper. Absolutely life changing!!! Congrats on this cardigan, it's fabulous!
Am I planning to knit this cardigan? No. Am I going to watch this entire tutorial? Absolutely.
Hahahaha yayyy!!!! You are the MVP 😂 thank you!!

I can not thank you enough for knitting this cardigan for Miss Emma ❤❤❤😊 love from your Aunt V.
Happy to make it and happy she loves it! 💛
I love Nora’s video quality and editing, so I’m going to love this so much! 😊🎉❤ Osi cameos! 🐕

I adore you write out the graphed pattern row by row, because I do the same exact thing and always question my sanity when doing so 😂

I was surprised that the finished garment didn’t block out quite as much as the swatch had-but I’m glad it fit her exactly the way she wants it to!!
