For your Farnham Tee, I think you should do an icord on the collar - just really loosely - and then a folded hem for the sleeves and body. It looks wonderful and I want to make one too!

I think folded hem and sleeves would look great on the tee, and an icord edge for the neckline! I’d love to see your colorwork steam blocked, it may mask any wobbly tension

For your colourwork in the Azucena I think your tension is okay, it might be a colour dominance thing. Are you holding your contrast colour on top or bringing it up from the bottom/below the main colour when you switch to it? I learned colour dominance the hard way in my first couple of colourwork projects and once I adjusted how I was picking up and working the contrast colour the motifs really started to pop! Maybe look into it, I'm sure I've seen lots of tutorials here on YT, but beyond that it looks GREAT and I adore your colour choices! 🤩

I LOVE your use of the ice cream container as a yarn coozie! I have used them to put homemade body butter but never thought to use them for this. I will have to try it! What a great way to reuse!!

For the Farnham Tee I agree that rib wouldn't be my choice either. My two suggestions are either to finish it the way Petiteknit has done on her Cloud pieces. Or possibly just a couple rows of garter and then stockinette again for a limited roll. The other way I like is a two stitch i-cord. I often find 3 stitch i-cords a bit too bulky/too pronounced. In a two stitch i-cord you would just cast on two new stitches , knit one and knit the second together through the back loop with the live stitches on the needle (or the picked up stitch on the neck line). you could try it for a few stitches to see how you like the look. Also I did it as per pattern in Caidree's Soho top. You can get an idea from her pictures although it is done next to garter there. I am sure it will turn out fab whatever you decide to do! (I am only three hours behind you here in Vancouver Canada)

Nora, I would suggest finishing the Farnham tee with 2 inches of garter stitch. The Tee is so pretty with the glitter element that it deserves more than a role or ribbing hem. The garter stitch elevates the Tee and allows you to dress it up to another level while at the same time, you can still dress it down and wear with jeans. The garter stitch can also be applied to the sleeves and neckline but only a 1/2 to 1 inch.
I would definitely do a simple non rib finish on the Farnum Tee. It would make the vibe much more "tee like" and less "sweater like". I did the Edie Tee by Isabel Kraemer and all finishes were knit one row, purl one row, and bind off. I loved the look and finish that produced. Your color work is spectacular. Maybe the mohair is producing a fog over the color work that makes you think it is not as clear as it should be but it should block out just fine. Color dominance is definitely a thing so watch out for that. Thank you for taking us through your projects!!

If I feel like specific colourwork stitches are too loose, I turn the jumper inside out and gently pull on the strands to redistribute the excess yarn over the whole row. It evens out the tension so you don't get one stitch that's really loose. But honestly, blocking works miracles in colourwork, and your jumper already looks beautiful.

I like the Farnham tee, I added it to my queue. The ribbing will give it the hard and soft you like. In this case the dressy and casual.

Hi Nora. That tee shirt is such a lovely colour on you. To finish, you could always do I cords at the sleeves and hem, and then the little bit of ribbing at the neck for a bit of visual interest. Or I also like the idea of the ribbing on all the edges with the sleeve edges rolling up a little. Your colour work is looking great. You knitted your yoke much faster than I knitted mine! I'm knitting the newleaf sweater by Jennifer Steingass, and I've found it so easy to follow.. Almost ready to pick up the sleeves 🥰

Aunt Laurie here. Youve made a lot of progress this week - congrats! I love the look youre getting with the tee - the marling really ups the ante. Re the finishes, im leaning toward the folded hems on the bottom and sleeves and whatever tge i-cord is on the neck. (Not being a knitter, im not familiar with it, but i trust the collective majority opinion of your viewers.). I think the ribbed hems go better with the striped version and the rolled hem gives less flexibility in yerms of dressing it up. For what its worth.,.......

Love your colorwork sweater. But for beginners, I would say a pattern with a more regular transition from one color to the other (let's say 3 stitches C1, 2 stitchs C2 and similar lengths of color) would make it easier for a beginner to practice tension. Nevertheless, yours look great and I think it'll be fine with blocking! Love the tee as well, the combination of the two yarns is just perfect!

I, too, like the idea for icord for the neck but also the sleeves and ribbing or folded hem for the bottom.
I think i-cord bind offs would look really nice on that tee. I think that the heavy weight of the fabric would be conducive to using i-cord for the edges.
Great job on your first colorwork yoke. It is hard to belive you just went straight into this without practice. If you're worried about the tension, you could always block it now and and double check it. That way if you decide you hate how it looks, you won't have to frog as much. Although, if it doesnt bother you and you'll be happy either way, ignore me and full steam ahead! You're doing great!

Your farnham tee is turning out so cute! Your gamble on that fabric choice was really a winner in the end 🤩 I personally am not a fan of rolled hems, so I would choose .5-.75” ribbing all over to finish it off, but maybe don’t drop your needle size so it stays more open?

For your Farnham Tee, a finish that I have used before on a Julie Hoover Design comes to mind. I love her designs. They have such attention to detail and I always learn something new. Here is what she did… 3 rounds of 1x1 rib then 5 rounds of stockinette. The stockinette rolled beautifully and the ribbing did a little peek a boo below it. I think this would be lovely on the sleeves and neckline. I’m a big fan of deep twisted rib for the waist. Super cute and really flexible styling!

Hiya Nora, with colourwork i would say that too loose is better than too tight. What I do is occasionally give the work a good tug vertically and then horizontally as I am working through. This can stretch the colourwork out, especially when you have plain stockinette in between. One of my homegrown hacks, but it can sort loose tension out. It looks lovely anyway x

Morning coffee or tea for me as I’m in North Carolina. I always look forward to your podcast. I think the ribbed finish in the original is perfect for that style casual look- BUT, in your case the yarn choice is giving a more dressy finish - even if you do also throw it on to run the grocery store with a ball cap - so I think I’d do something different. I love an i-1cord neck finish, and folded cuffs and hem would be nice to balance. 🧶 you will find your perfect balance I am sure. Look forward to seeing what you do. Cher

I would consider double knitted collar, or an i-cord finish. Folded hems for the other finishes! Ribbing might be a bit too casual for this awesome fabric!
Rolled hems is pretty casual but cute, a short rib edging would be cute or maybe a small I-cord. You have options and all the skills! Woo-hoo!!🥳. PS All edges in a contrast color (black?) could be cute if you’re short on yarn.

I recently did the Nuuk pattern which is a very similar (just raglan instead of drop shoulder) tee, and personally I think the ~1 inch of twisted rib really brought that project to life, so my vote is following the pattern for the finishes! But obviously, do what you think is best for you and your project!
Your colorways looks soo good! Maybe try steaming it and see if it looks better once the yarn blooms..... I bet it will look sooo much better
I don't know if this is something you're familiar with, but with colorwork there's something called color dominance, which has to do with how you carry the yarn across the back. It can make a difference in how your colorwork pops. I'm no expert and have to look it up whenever I do it, but there's plenty of tutorials for it on RUclips. That said, your Acuzena is lovely. If there are any stitches you''re not happy with when it's done, you can always duplicate stitch over them later.

I'd knit the Farnham in line with the pattern for the ribbing. The only change I'd make is to shorten the neck rib to your sensitivity tastes at the front neck. For the colourwork sweater, I think this colourwork looks hard because of the long floats. One with less țhan 3 stitches of either colour would be easier than the one which you did. That could be a good way to practice your tension. I think blocking will really help your colourwork to settle. I don't think you should change your needle size for colourwork. Just practice your tension, and you'll get there. Thanks for sharing your knitting progress and thoughts on it
You could do i-cord finish on all the edges. Or the neckline only to keep it minimal.
Hi Nora, I have a similar conundrum with my project, on mine I like the boat neck effect is giving and adding the ribbing will ruin it. I think I would do a short ribbing like you suggested, maybe 3-4 rounds before bind off, for both the neck and sleeves. Longer ribbing at the bottom. I think that will allow you to dress it up better than an icord would. Also love your channel! ❤
Nora, I’d recommend some sort of ribbing or folded hem for the Farnham for the hem and sleeves mostly bc you mentioned layering it and a rolled sleeve under a blazer, etc seems uncomfortable and also visible through the blazer sleeves. I do think you cld roll the collar though if you’d like. If you look up Caidree’s cast off for the Serein sweater on RUclips, I think it’s a great way to do a clean hem that will roll.

I’m coming in a day late as drag racing season has started here! Love, love, love your sweater! My suggestion for your neckline would be a I-Cord bind off. For your sleeves I’m a little torn . . .Twisted Rib would be cute! But how many rows . . .and since I’m not familiar with the Twisted Rib stitch yet . . .does it use more yarn? Or a folded hem . . .I have no doubt what ever you choose will be perfect! I want you to know when I am done watching this I will be using my, “Inner Nora” and casting on my first colorwork project that also happens to be a test knit! I found a sweater that I will be making for my dear husband but the pattern will not be ready until June. The designer just designed a cowl with this same patterning and I was accepted as a Test Knitter! The yarn is wound and I will be casting on as soon as I am done watching!
Loving how your Farnham tee is coming along! I think your tension will resolve with practice. I think that pattern is a great colourwork first garment but for anyone trying colourwork for the first time, I started on a cowl and I’m happy I did that as I got to understand my tensioning before diving into a garment 😊. I have Truboo in my stash so I’m very tempted after seeing how your tee is coming along.

i vote icord edge for neckline because it can dress up and down so effortlessly where as rolled hem takes more effort to style up, plus as it’s a natural fiber the loose icord would keep the neckline static

I’m loving your tee! That fabric is so special. Last year was my first foray into knitting summer garments and I made 2 tees. I dislike the ribbing on them when I wear them and just don’t reach for them. I want to frog and reknit them. So my opinion is… I would consider folded hems for both waist and sleeves, and maybe the rolled hem you’ve been considering for the sleeve as the neckline. Or something like MFTK’s camisole no.9/ tee no. 1 neckline.

I’m knitting too loose in my colorwork also! I’m practicing and practicing. AND what about an icord finish for your tee! It holds shape nicely while being simple but classy.
Colorwork tension - I find that mine is looser when there are floats. Try a pattern or a swatch without a lot of floats and you will know
I would suggest an I cord finish for the tshirt because I agree with you that the neckline is really great as it is so it doesn't need to be a full rib thing 😂. I finally found my stash busting project: I watch Summer Lee podcast and she publish a colour work sock pattern named Maizie socks. I saw them and immediately dropped everything to dig into my stash to find yarn to make those socks immediately! I never been so motivated to knit a pair of socks in my life! 😂

Regarding the finishing of your Farnham tee, have you thought about i-cord edgings instead of ribbing?
Also, I tend to work quite a bit with plant fibres and with the weight of the tee, you may wish to consider adding some elastic, especially at the neckline, to help it keep its shape and increase the longevity of the tee in your work wardrobe.

It’s 5:30am for me when this comes out. Why don’t you just do an I-cord on the neckline of your Farnham- wouldn’t add much material, then you could also do the sleeves with the icord so it would naturally sit in your elbow crease well- then put what you have left toward the body length

If that was my Farnham tee and I was trying to use up stash and not have tiny useless amounts left over I'd go with the pattern and do the twisted rib. I suggest you do whatever neckline you decide on before you decide finally on length as picking up stitches at the neck will pull it in a bit and make the sweater shorter. I would then do the sleeve hems and then use up as much of my remaining yarn as possible on the body. If you want to wear it for work then you will want more length than you might choose of you were going to wear it outside of work. BTW I made a size H and used 988m of yarn but I did stripes and added length as I am taller than you with a long torso. Highly recommend the pattern.

I like the idea of a folded edge. But I also have a few summer tops in those cooler fibers that have broken rib (one row 1x1 rib, next row all knits) and I think it makes a really nice edge.
