Saw him in Belfast, Northern Ireland years ago, pre illness. The band blew the roof off. Thank God Walter survived. As a liver transplantee myself I know what he went thru.

Now this is what I’m talking about. Some real deal raw shredding. Kids today don’t realize the fun doesn’t even start until you get on stage with a band in front of a crowd.

Wow! The drive is good. Annealed drive-like, in a rocker style. In a midnight, bluesy, and even British sound. Swung, wow, swung ...))) Yes, I myself swing in a similar manner at jam sessions quite often. Familiar guitar playing style, texture and solo phrasing. Yes, so many are rushing)))) And perfectly shakes the crowd. Thanks! It rocked well)))

wow... what a player. what a GREAT PLAYER.
Not many people can make a Strat sound like it's pleading for its life. Even God coaxed and cajoled a sweet sound, among others that flirted their way around that legendary piece. This guy ain't taking prisoners. When you show a Strat no mercy, there isn't a better sound coming from any instrument l can think of. Walter is a man infused in a legendary lineage, just listen to that man wail.

That's my ex-baby!!!! Lived with him 7 years i Huntington Beach. He is just playing the same as he did 25 years ago. and when he was a kid in Milmont Mew in Jersey! He was always accused by some blues purists as playing, wait for it....too many notes!! Nice vocal Sammy! Sammy awesome on the Hammond hell Steve Marriott recorded playing one!!
muffin6369 Joe Bonamassa was also accused of playing too many notes. I think this is great, so much hate on here it's crazy. Just enjoy the music ffs

It's a given that for a blues guitarist he does play WAY too many notes! I enjoy listening to him anyway. But he would sound better if he would slow down, breathe, and play the fast runs more sparingly so that they would pop instead of becoming wallpaper.

Tried to record Walter Trout in 2000 at a local blues festival, but he sent a roadie down to take my video camera from me. That didn't work out so well. I am so glad he’s doing well, but he was a real jerk back then. Look at all the video cameras now!

Despite his age and experience, Walter still falls into the trap of playing too many notes, distracting and detracting from the music.
This is why the most memorable songs, solos, and guitarists of all time, are not given to shred. Knowing when to burn, and giving space between notes, letting it breathe a bit creates music that lives in people’s minds.
There are thousands of guitarists who play like Trout.
