I'm certain that this crap-and there's a LOT of it now on RUclips-is AI generated. The voices are all robotic (for obvious reasons) and they oddly mispronounce words-although it's not odd, because they're not human. It's clickbait garbage to get views. Reminds me of the bot farms.

I saw them with Cherone. It was weird. He was trying so hard to make it work. His stage mannerisms were awkward given the VH repertoire. I think if he would have calmed himself down and focussed on the music rather than the antics it may have worked. At least he sang the songs unlike Roth. If Roth just could sing live VH would have been spectacular.

I saw them with Cherone 5 times. Of all the times I'd seen the band straight through to 2015, those shows were the best I ever saw in terms of playing, and set list. Eddie was an absolute wrecking machine. Vocally, Cherone was fine. But, I agree that his stage antics were awkward and definitely felt out of place. And, I like the guy. But the mincing about and the bent over fingering of the butt crack stuff....yeah. Whatever Van Halen was, it was NOT that. He just had an out of place presence. It was weird and distracted from his vocal performance, which I thought was good.

It felt like they should have spent more time on VHIII. It really should have and could have been better. But Cherone had a good voice, and live he actually did really well with the Roth and Hagar material. But image is a big part of it also, and onstage with Van Halen he looked out of place, like he was a guy that worked at Best Buy and he had won a raffle to sing with VH. I saw him singing with Joe Perry Project and he looked just as awkward. It's a shame, he has a strong voice but no stage charisma IMO.

I compare it to when Hagar joined the band. Van Halen adapted to Hagar as much as Hagar adapted to Van Halen. I believe this is because Eddie wanted to go in this direction. That's one of the many reasons he and Roth butted heads. The change truly started with 1984.
By the time Cherone joined, Eddie was set in his ways, and Cherone did whatever Eddie asked of him. On the most part, it sounded like a poor replica of a Van Hagar album. Which is a shame because Cherone's style is more like Roth than Hagar, but with a much stronger voice. Listen to Extreme 2 Pornograffiti. It not only freaking rocks but also has a tongue-in-cheek comedic looseness jam session vibe to it like the Roth era albums. Just watch Extreme at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. They were considered the highlight by many of the Queen faithful who believed Cherones stage showmanship most resembled Mercury. Extreme Halen? I think that style could've been an amazing third act. Unfortunately, I don't think Cherone ever felt comfortable in Van Halen and possibly wasn't confident enough to shake the tree a bit. Whether you like the Van Hagar era or not, there was a spark between Sammy and Eddie that is the Rock band equivalent of 2 people falling madly in love with each other. Cherone was just a rebound. In hindsight, I bet 'Queen w/Gary Cherone ' would've been a good idea instead.

Technically, Gary Cherone was the best of the VH vocalists. He just wasn't a fit for the band. Sammy is a great vocalist as well. Dave is not a great singer. In fact, he's a marginal, but he was the best fit for VH and put them on the map. Additionally, if Dave would have remained after 1984, they would not have had the longevity they had. His voice was shot long before the brothers were tired of Sammy. His vocals on A Different Kind of Truth were painful. Nobody ever mentions how that album sold 30% less than VHIII and is the only VH album not to sell more than 1M worldwide.

@@user-ui8or8cq7l When asked who was the best singer in Van Halen, no one has ever said 'Gary Cherone'. Not seriously anyway. 😆

Mikey says Gary wasn't a good fit because Mikey has been in love with Sammy and vice versa for decades and honestly they should keep their gaymance on the down low but oh well

Cherone is the best singer VH ever had in my humble opinion. Not the best man to front this legendary band though.

Cherone wasn't that great of a singer. Not even in Extreme. And he was too fruity. It's a different energy.
