Dilbert Creator Scott Adams and Diagnosing His Spasmodic Dysphonia

Dilbert Creator and NSDA Honorary Board Member Scott Adams discusses his diagnosis journey with spasmodic dysphonia. He shares, “It felt good just to know what my condition was. I imagine there’s a lot of people out there who haven’t yet figured out the diagnosis of their voice problem who have some good news coming: It’s got a name, you’re not alone, and there is something you can do about it.”
Spasmodic dysphonia (SD) is a rare, neurological voice disorder that makes speaking difficult because the vocal cords spasm when a person speaks, causing the voice to either sound choked, strangled, or breathy. The National Spasmodic Dysphonia Association, a 501(c)(3) organization, is a patient advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with spasmodic dysphonia and related voice conditions through programs of research, education, awareness, and support.
