0:30 Why is the price in Indian rupees, despite the item being shipped to the UK (if I'm not wrong) ?
A lot of these sellers use non native currencies to make refunds harder, as there is a conversion process involved.
The price shows as GBP Equivalent up until you order it usually.

I dont understand how ebay once taken down my listing with a Japanese Wii Console in 2019 as it was a "Counterfit" apperently but those things can just stay on there smh
It's a combination of luck and quantity. You're one seller selling legit, meaning you're posting on the same account at a regular pace. Get unlucky, and eBay slams you with a counterfeit claim and take down your listing and you're anywhere from mildly to severely inconvenienced. Meanwhile, these guys are selling using a plethora of semi botted accounts that just keep posting faster than eBay can flag them, so it's not that they aren't getting taken down, it's that they're getting replaced faster than they get taken down.

Actually, using screen as a heatsink is very common practice - almost all smartphones uses this technique.
Almost burnt my hand once when I fell asleep with phone on bed. You rly gotta what out for it.
Technically phones use the whole chassis as a heat sink.

Phones (any sort of decent quality ones that is) don't primarily use screen but the back, screen just gets hot as byproduct of a CPU crammed into such a slim device.
@@jackwilson5542 disassemble any flagship samsung, huawei, or just about any other phone apart from iphone, and you'll see quite the opposite - heat tubes running on chassis between CPU and screen, thats not mentioning all the evaporation chambers

They could rebrand this, strip off all the illegal stuff, be honest about what it's capable of and people would totally buy it at that price. A semi decent handheld for emulators that's cheap isn't bad at all. But I guess that would involve more marketing then just slapping Switch on the listing and tricking people.

Nah. They aren’t gonna sell. It’s a “somewhat” good emulator.
But something like an AYN Odin would be more viable as a handheld emulator. Also because it has a funky dock with certain gamecube and such ports.
Plus the thing having android, means you can use it for more than just an emulator.
@@Thewaterspirit57 These sell great, and the Odin is nowhere near the same in price or size. These things are around $30. The Odin is good but it's a completely separate tier of system.

Nothing that isn’t already dumped or available online. They probably pirated a romset and picked arbitrary stuff from it.
I mean £30 it actually not bad for cheap emulator device. If there is a way, you can just preload your own ROMs and tweak a bit.

For this kind of money, if it could emulate 16-bit stuff then it is golden.

It's not terrible, but something like the PowKiddy v90 is a few dollars more and can handle the 16bit systems better and do PS1 as well. And while PowKiddy is still a questionable chinese brand, at least it has a name where you can look up reviews and opinions and at least get a sense of whether or not it will last more than a week before dying on you.
That homescreen is 100% a PS Vita ripoff, even down to the 3,4,3 layout. Speaking of, I recommend a PS Vita for emulation, they are quite easy to mod nowadays and SD2Vita is very cheap. It's often cheaper than proper emulation machines, but still offers an amazing screen for the OLED model and very good feeling buttons. Also you have access to both native emulators and emulators made for PSP, aswell as RetroArch with different cores, in case one doesn't work well (which I noticed with Final Fantasy V Advance)
PS: Loving the background music. Mystery Dungeon is an amazing game series, even with the mediocre titles in between ^^

@@HowlingDoom I know that they started porting an emulator, but it performs very poorly. Any somewht modern phone is decent at emulating it though, especially if you have a controller that allows you to put your phone inside vertically 😊

@@HowlingDoom Wanted to leave some links but my comment is getting deleted, so maybe this stays without them. PS Vita overclocking is generally recommended for more stable or simply higher framerates as there's no real risk, the last thing I heard about was GTA San Andreas being ported, it should run on the Vita fairly well if I remember correctly ^^
PS: ModernVintageGamer also showed it off, with the links in the description of course. It's an older but if anything the port got even better so it's basically a must have for any PS Vita owner. They also ported GTA 3 and Vice City aswell, the modding scene is pretty damn impressive :)
I'm personally interested about some of the Pokémon romhacks that are on here, there have to be a bunch that even I haven't heard of.
The reason gen 3 Pokémon games don't work is obvious: the emulator doesn't seem to support the 128k flash save type, or at least doesn't detect games that use that, that might also be why SMA4 was like "saved data is corrupted"
Back in the day around 2013ish, i replayed all of gen 3 at 8x speed on a Galaxy s3. I remember running across a few modded and reskined emerald roms back then.
After a quick google search it looks like there's way more out there.

That 1-2cm thing is on EVERYTHING on aliexpress. I bought record player cartridges with a total length of 3cm. Same story :D.
I feel so bad for the kids getting this for chrismas expecting a real switch.
At least they can play good snes,genesis and gba games and watch videos.When we received these scams from our grandparents in the late 90s they had only 999999 nes games (or 10 games with 99999989 variations)

Beats the crap out of those 80's and early 90's LCD games.
(The ones with the clock style LCD that have predetermined character and enemy positions).
While it's not a switch, I could at least play it if it was my only game system. I was only a casual gamer, especially as a kid - I had 0 skill, but even when I was completely bored I couldn't manage to play an LCD game, they sucked that bad and I was always frustrated.
Needless to say I was definitely thrilled when I finally got a real game boy when they came down in price.

Not odd at all that it exports audio as a WAV file. That is very easy on the CPU as it is not compressed.

It doesn't cost much more for various emulation handhelds, from companies like Anbernic, that will run 8 bit and 16 bit consoles and handhelds perfectly (and play most ps1 games perfectly even on some of the cheaper models). They will even run a lot more MAME games. And they have community supported firmware etc that unlocks so much more.
There are interesting handhelds in the low price range anyway. Powkiddy V40 and Miyoo Mini come to mind (the latter is the recent one and it’s getting some rave reviews for great form factor execution)
This was my first thought as well. There are superior machines out there for only a bit more money.
You’re giving way too much credit to the scammers here as they are clearly just reselling this device, which is quite a common practice in this particular market.

I also watch other RUclipsrs that review these devices even if I own a 2DS, Vita and Switch...this one seems to be on par with the performance for the price or better. At $20-30 in some places all you get is NES emulation.
I'd rather spend $30 on a second hand leather '90s jacket, which I did two years ago, than on this fake Chinese console. :) Looks good on a brown guy like me, lol...

I can imagine having this as a kid and I'm happy i didn't had any of those game console because I'd just be playing 24/7 ... all i had is one of those tetris handhelds and even that was exciting for me at the time..
One of the problems you run into when reviewing these, even ones sold as what they are and not a scam is the rampant sharing and reuse of ebay listings and product photos. Even if you use the exact same search terms there's no guarantee you'll get the same device pictured. Even ordering from the exact listing twice sometimes gets you two different products.
This is being sold as the x20mini handheld. Might be a decent candidate for modding.
Michael.. it's a Powkiddy J6 reshelled..identical menu and emulators..4.2inch screen..I have bought 2x J6 so I know them well..a few games don't run..but 99% of my ROMs are fine...well worth 25quid or 30 dollars

The controversial ROMs part is something I personally experienced with machines like this (in the form factor of a PSP, usually)
My brother and I used to hunt for machines like these because for 10 dollars the game titles and gameplay are so broken they are worth remembering, if anyone wants to know what they are it's usually any random slur you can find and the games are either Mario ROM Hacks with the text changed to have slurs/swear words or games about dogs (???)
They are clearly made by someone with the intent to make it racist, it's not like a cute engrish fuck-up lol.

I am absolutely astonished how clean the PCB is. Very few chips, not a whole lot of capacitors or resistors scattered around but grouped together...

Lets just say Mario/Luigi are dressed in white sheets, and the enemies are of color, and another has Mario/Luigi as a dongs with the enemies being female holes with legs, or wings.

The reason SMRPG ran like it was is because of the SA-1 chip. And this is a rebranded Powkiddy X20 mini, from what it appears.
the SA-1 chip was the most complex official(there have been some unofficial ones in recent years that allow the SNES to do FMV, and CD quality sound with people homebrewing new soundtracks onto games, and even porting FMV games like Road Avenger) add on chip for the SNES if I remember correctly even more so than the Super FX series of chips.

And it's so baffling to me why a company takes the scam approach when they almost have a decent device that they could advertise as is.
(edit) I bet I know EXACTLY how they got those dodgy games. They've probably had the roms for years at this point. back in my younger days, when I bothered with ROMs, one of the easy approaches was to just find anything with ROMs on TPB, and just download it. this often included huge libraries of stuff that in turn was sourced from some other huge library of stuff. And whooo boy was it not vetted.
I have seen things on an emulated SEGA that are permanently burned into my soul like the afterimage of the Windows Taskbar on a CRT.

The battery is really solid. I picked a similar one off Aliexpress for about £18. Was heavily considering modding mine because cheap electronic modding is fun.

This looks really cool and perhaps might be able to emulate other 2D consoles like Game Gear, PC Engine, Master system and similar others.
These types of systems usually comes with terrible buttons and if you say this have good buttons then the sellers should do proper marketing for this, it could be a good seller.

Well to me, the device is nothing special but the sketch content makes me curious and want to buy one. Its just a 8 and 16 bit system emulator and there are a dozen similar devices that do the same thing but better while not costing much more.
The romhacks are probably nothing that wasn’t already dumped or you can’t find online.

After the bit about the Real Player logo being on the box I was curious and google it and was shocked to see it still exists. Haven't dealt with that software in 20 years.
It's kept alive by corporate training programs that use it's video formats I bet. I can't see any other reason for it to exist.
They used to offer an online video downloaded as a browser add-on if you had the software. I remember that being a huge reason to use it 10 years ago.
Four video players of the 2000s: Windows Media Player, Quick Time Player, Real Player & VLC. :) I remember all four of them, and VLC and Windows Media Player were the best.

Honestly I'm genuinely surprised at how much this can do. If the descriptions weren't incredibly sketchy, things were better documented and the games were less broken, I'd unironically buy this
It's a good thing they didn't put a PSX emulator on there like so many of these cheap emulator handhelds do, because at this price point they never run at playable framerates, and having an emulator on there that runs too poorly to be useful just lowers the overall impression of the device. It shows that they actually cared a little about the quality and first impression of the product.

the GUI of this console reminds me of android 2.2 with all that white and yellow with big buttons
this actually seems pretty interesting as it seems pretty playable experience.
I also think that the devil slayer rom might be the actual doom emulation.
I think I am going to buy one of these, its not the best but bloody hell it does the business and I wonder if it could handle PS1 games just the emulator hasn't been put on.
Get Powkiddy V40 ($40) or Miyoo Mini ($60). They will be better.
can agree that this is a pretty nice device for the money, but the included content.. well from what you've shown, looks to be very bad indeed. for basic NES emulation, this device looks pretty nice.

This isn't that bad, that it plays MAME is pretty amazing , I'd spend a few extra on myself for sure,but, for a little kid?...probably and why not... kids don't take good care of there stuff and for 30$ I'd put my own roms on it
The interface in game of Corporation looks suspiciously like a hacked Zero Tolerance naughty no no's. Abs love Zero Tolerance as it was the MD's first proper 1st person shooter and the whole game was super well executed with some pretty cutting edge 3d visuals.
Corporation, an excellent game on it's own, predates Zero Tolerance by few years, IIRC.
"Battle fast and smooth with the combat of Emperors!" THAT has got to the THE BEST line I have ever heard about a game console.....lmao.
I have one. The firmware supports gb (only in the file system menu for some reason) gbc, gba, sms, md (Only if the files have a .BIN extension) nes and snes. It actually does a decent job playing all of those systems. Anything past 16 bit is a no go as it has just enough power to run the aforementioned systems.

Almost as good as my iPhone 2G or first gen at playing music but seriously old tech should do what it was meant to do without judgment as long as it works reasonably.
I actually have a device very similar to this one. Just the screen is different. I tried to do some development for it but it's not easy as there are no data sheets that I could find.
