I’ve been using this gun daily for about a year and a half now and absolutely love it. I use it as a detail gun over my Devilbiss Sri regularly as it sprays much better at lower pressure for small blends or jamb jobs. It’s my all rounder for anything small and also use it for plastic primer and clear coat blender as well. I have a hard time spraying anything large with Spies 480 hitec because the base dries too fast for the small fan. My go to base guns are my ls400 for whites and any fine metallics and my sata 5500 1.2rp as a workhorse for anything else
This is not the cup it comes with. This gun is basically the Bellaria. The KIWAMI4-BA4J is what you have here, and it was build for both Base and Clear, but it's much better for Clear. As a matter of a fact, my favorite Clear coat gun. The baseline pressure is 29 PSI. He flows the air (consumes less due to cap) different then Devilbiss guns. I have my setup at the wall, and the setting for this gun is different than for other guns even if you wanted same PSI. You need to setup each gun separately even using same hose, and gauges. Btw, great videos as always.
Basically the same as a bellaria, cap and nozzle other than the threads on the air cap ring are the same and interchangeable, needle is the same just shortened a little bit, really decent gun.
You really are a master of the trade. The way you adapt to all guns and lay down an amazing finish is so nice to watch thank you Gunman.. I have only been spraying wood and the odd boat x 3 car x 2 and bike x 2 for 28 years from a mat finish to full gloss buffed, but you your work and uploads for me to learn more is so nice as it still apply s to my work you are the boss in laying down a wet product..
Can you do some videos on prep work jobs start to finish? Maybe include doing seam sealer how you color match from the very start from doing spray outs, fixing any chips and scratches feathering out etc all the way to paint work
Ive had mine about a year now, sprayed base, clear, singlestage, metallics, candies, epoxy primer, all worked well, just different psi but i pretty much leave the fan as wide without losing the flat football pattern, only on the clear do i bring it in a tad, the eastwood 2k primer is too thick for the 1.4 so use a different gun, trick is to definitely take it apart and clean it when changing materials running thru it, the needle had wider 4 on it for some reason, but i love the gun, but i paint motorcycle mostly so the narrow fan doesnt kill me and i use a small compressor as well
Hey gunni I feel the same way about ppg. Standox or glasirut for me. Even baslac for those cheaper jobs although it needs a good bake. 👍 Also the torri looks mint.
Great video as always Gunny, the Kiwami 4 is quite hard to get hold of here in the UK a friend of mine here has to order his from Japan and he has just about got all of them but he loves them for the price as they lay the paint down nice and are well made. Thanks for sharing your thoughts👏🙏👍John UK
Hi Gunny.... I have the kiwami with 1.4.... Sprays really good solvent base and clear... It comes with original iwata white pot... This metallic pot I don't think it's the original...
This is one of my favorite channels, but I have to say there's not enough talk of the Kiwami4 and thoughts on the comparison to its predecessor, the Bellaria. Hopefully, you'll do a further review as we were really looking forward to your opinion of this controversial spray gun.
Sikkens hs plus 2 pack for the win it’s the only one I use !!! The only ppg clears I’ve sprayed is the dbc 3000 and 5000 clears and they were good . Have you tried any of the global clears ???
Where can I buy one in the is without getting screwed half the places want 400 to 580 for the ba version on ebay ot goes for 230 and up but it's not a 400 dollar gun period wider 4 and a kwami 4 ba tip is the same and cheaper 176 then 120 for the tip
Hey gun I bought a iwata kiwami4 I sprayed base @28-30psi the clear coat I use was fc720 @25psi but I got some runs I turned fluid 1/2 to 3/4 turn in same with the fan.when spraying the inside of the car.the gun reminds me of devilbiss gta
Gunman.... what is the final grit you use before applying basecoat? Do you stop at 600? 800? 1000? Dry or Wet? Lastly, do you use a sealer coat? If you do, do you sand that too? Please let me know, your finishes are always sooo flat !!!!
He's likely finishing from 600 or 800, 1000 doesn't have enough bite for paint adhesion. As for your sealer question it's not necessary to sand but i personally do restoration and if the shop really wants a job come out good we'll sand sealer down to no orange peel then start basing
I personally have run away from PPG as fast as I could. Dupont solvent Chromabase has worked well for me. Top it off with whatever clear fits the budget.
I still have a sweet spot for ppg, but they have done a great job butt raping for their products. I like to throw HOK in the mix, if I'm paying Uber bucks for something I might add well add and control done extra bling. But I love 2021 clear.
bellaria old model w400. Kiwami is a new model designed by weapons specialist Name Kiwami. there is a change from the old model iwata w400 classic 280/min. pattern 80mm iwata kiwami4 270/min pattern 280 .300 /mm
Hey, I was hoping you would do a video of this gun. I bought one last year for $200. I was planning on using it for clear, but had some issues the fist couple of times I tried. It was hot and the clear was drying before it hit the panel. I switched it up and now use it for base which has been working great, and I use my FLG5 for clear, which is also working great. I may try clear with Kiwami again after seeing how well it worked for you. Thanks for the great videos, they have really helped me over the years.
Love your reviews but your never accurate about how much the guns cost gunny 😂 where can I find this for 250-300 please let me no I’d love to get it on internet is 500-600
Thanks for all your hints and tips gunny. Such a good channel. 👊

Exactly that. I have this gun as KIWAMI4-BA4J and it is even called Bellaria in the manual.

Good timing… I had one of these in my Amazon cart yesterday, hesitant to purchase it. I’ll watch and see now before clicking order. Thanks
Hi Gunny.... I have the kiwami with 1.4.... Sprays really good solvent base and clear... It comes with original iwata white pot... This metallic pot I don't think it's the original...
Looks like a harbor freight pot
le pot iwata est pas fait comme ca le couvert est fait plus creux pour quil est pas de goutte qui tombe sur ton travail
looks like a really nice spray gun for a budget gun ...im looking at this spray gun to spray clear and base for my first at home paint job....
I picked up a Kiwami (2nd hand) but it's a siphon feed pot! I haven't even had a chance to give it a try. It was too cheap not to grab.

Hi gunny got the same gun the kiwami 1.3
Woulda been nice to talk more about the gun than a clear most people won't use
Looks like you really need to move slowly to get what want on.
Thanks for the review
waited so long for that thank you!!!!!
I actually use this gun as all rounder and for sikkens solvent base. love it for the price
What pressure you set for the clear ?
Does my old Iwata W-400 classic plus count for a reasonable gun?, $200 from chashies with a 1.3 tip
Sikkens hs plus 2 pack for the win it’s the only one I use !!! The only ppg clears I’ve sprayed is the dbc 3000 and 5000 clears and they were good . Have you tried any of the global clears ???
the fan doesn´t look small either
Hey mate very informative video, tried to find PPS Adaptor for this Kimawi4, very hard to find it in Australia, have any idea where can I find it?
I can't remember the number, but most auto paint supplies shops should have them. Try Jefferson paint supplies or Bayford, if you're in Melbourne

1000 before Base, but that 1000 must be blocked to mirror.
How does it compare to the BellAria 🤙
It's just a rebrand of the bellaria
Он реально лучше чем w400
Hope the Iwata 2 is next
what is the regulation of this spray gun
How much on 10?

WS400 any day, Kiwami is good for the price
thank you but wthat is SUPER NOVA LS 400 & LS 400 is the same ?@@TheGunmanChannel
@@gentlerowdy LS is basically hvlp, more suited to waterborne basecoat. Not clear

I think the general consensus is it's a good base gun run down to about 20 psi or so. The FLG5 is probably better for clear.
I don’t understand English, nozzle 1.4? anest iwata kiwami 4 ba?
1.3, .20mpa
Love your reviews but your never accurate about how much the guns cost gunny 😂 where can I find this for 250-300 please let me no I’d love to get it on internet is 500-600
Had this gun is built cheap and leaks everywhere was leaking at the cap and trigger, Return and got the DV1 Much better gun ❤
Gunny no hard Feelings..but on Budget gun... ANI F160 way better
