Freedom Ordnance FX9 Pistol Custom Build

- I recently picked up a Freedom Ordnance FX9 pistol in order to build it into something resembling a modern take on the old Colt/KAC DEA Carbine. I also use it as a test bed for the Shockwave Blade 2.0, which has its own review video.

For a dude that has a bunch of dolls on a shelf behind him, that’s a pretty dope build. Kudos
I like this build, its nice and compact. I dont own any guns because Im still under the age but when I go shooting with my dad or uncle I always like shooting compact stuff. This is definitely a unique and interesting build man.
I really like my carbine version of this gun! and thanks for the video.
Love this video! Just ordered the 4.5" version last night. Hopefully I'll get it!
You ever get it bub? And was it hard to build
well now i need to order a arp-9.. interesting build, looking forward to seeing it on the range!
Very interesting gun man. Good job on that
beautiful gun you got there. I upgraded mine with a 3.5# drop in trigger and sbm4, very accurate compact gun. lots of fun to shoot.
What trigger did you use? I need to upgrade mine because it’s so heavy but the Fx9 is finicky with certain triggers
Very well done. I like what you did with the hand guard and muzzle device to make it your own. If your curious about triggers, I recommend the Cmc triggers for the fx9. They drop in and have no issues with the bolt carrier. Trigger pull is right around the 3.5# mark.
That’s the only thing that I thought really needed changing with the fx9. Otherwise it’s one of my favorite guns to shoot. Especially suppressed.
I really like what you did with the front end, handguards, and "fake suppressor."
Cool custom😁
I dig it. Very clever. Good work, I subscribed!
Also, keep an eye out later this year. Freedom Ordnance is going to be putting out a new charging handle as well as a 4” barreled version of the FX-9.
Like the 2.0 version of the shockwave. Smaller size looks good
I need one of these looks so dope
Awesome work, bro! I recently swapped out the handguard on mine for a 10" MLOK FF rail, in order to partially cover my silencer. Also added an SBA3 brace and a Sons of Liberty Gun Works "Liberty Fighting Trigger". Shoots great....just wish they would've offered options for an aftermarket charging handle! Thinking about adding a LAW Tactical folding adapter to be able to fold the brace.
The dinky charging handle is probably my least favorite thing. Yours sounds pretty slick!
good job!
Booligan? Would that muzzle fit the extar ep9 if u ever seen the barrel on those cause they have a flat part for wrench that sticks out a little on the barrel ,I was just wondering if u knew if I would work cause I really want to buy this muzzle
Nice gun
I remember when I was shopping for my FX9 i stayed in the store for 2 hours toying with carbine vs pistol(Fall of 2017). If I had know that adjustable pistol braces were a thing or going to be a thing I would of got the pistol. Instead I went with the carbine.
Halfdollar 86 it definitely changes the whole dynamic of the whole AR pistol market.
When you changed the handguard, did you have to change the barrel nut? I want to change my handguard, but will have to change out the barrel nut.
Yes, when going from the free float handguard to one like this, I had to change the barrel nut.
That's a nice ass gun. Considering getting one. Can you the glock 100rd drum too?
Is this gun truly compatible with AR components? I was thinking about picking up the FX9 with the 8 inch barrel and adding a DOLOS quick change barrel setup on it. Question is...will it work?
I've never used the DOLOS, but I did install a standard AR type barrel nut on this one, so that component is compatible. There's no gas tube or anything to complicate things.
Was there any lock tight on the original muzzle thread protector ?
I don't recall any, it was just torqued against a crush washer.
Neat gun. Didnt quite understand how you put the front sight on it and I wish I could have seen it fire but oh well
MFinGonzo I explained it. Just tap the holes on a standard front sight for grub screws. Slide that front assembly over the barrel and tighten the screws. You can also buy front sight/gas block assemblies that are already drilled and tapped.
Ah ok that makes sense. I like it it looks really cool. Tempted to do mine this way
Not sure if i missed it, is the barrel a standard AR 9mm barrel? I have the 18 inch and was thinking about getting a shorter carbine barrel.
I believe so, but if not, I believe Freedom Ordnance sells spare barrels. Just keep in mind you’ll need a stamp to bring it below 16”.
@@booliganshootingsports Not in Canada you don't ;) but it will turn it restricted. Anyways didn't see any barrels on their site just a spare reciever and handguards, probably can't order from them anyways.
Just got mine in the mail today, not a fan of the super thin handguard so ill take it off and check the barrel extension at the same time.
Was considering getting one of these. Can you use the glock 100rd drum in this gun
Yes
Once the brace becomes collapsible doesn’t it fall under sbr regulation?
Nope, there are several collapsible braces on the market.
Great video. How do you like the magpul grip?
Joe Martin it’s small, which is the thing I don’t like about it, however, it’s leaps and bounds better than the standard A2 grip, which I hate with the fiery passion of 1000 suns.
I debated between the Magpul and the BCM Mod 0. I went with the BCM which is ok. FO stated that they are working on a bigger charging handle.
I’ve heard that, it desperately needs one.
you should put an SBA3 brace on it, that would look great!
I really prefer this over the SBA3. I think the SBA3 is too tall and looks a little clunky. This is much more comfortable for me and I love the way it looks.
Is this considered an SBR due to the adjustable "brace"?
Nope. Pistol braces are allowed to be adjustable, provided the LOP doesn't exceed 13.5", in general. Obviously, I'm not an attorney and ATF opinions may vary, but realistically, that's the current benchmark they've used in the last several opinion letters. It's just another AR pistol.
The 13.5 length of pull thing isn't even official anyways. I've seen companies selling guns with braces with a longer LOP than that.
Garrett Smith it’s referenced several times in ATF opinion letters, which is official enough for me.
Where can I find one??
I just seen your video and I'm purchasing the same firearm can you give me the info on the hand guard and the work you put on the flash hider
That’s literally what this video is…
I got one i love it
must be nice, in canada we pay around 1300$ for one
How much would you charge to do this to my FX sir?
WILL A FRANKLIN BINARY TRIGGER WORK IN THIS FX 9 LOWER?
I believe so as long as it's the gen 3.
No
Didnt even realize this was a real gun til towards the end lol
How many inch barrel?
8"
And how did you cut the muzzle?
I didn’t cut the muzzle. That’s the factory barrel length. I had the muzzle device turned down a bit on a lathe though.
@@booliganshootingsports yeah thats what I meant the muzzle enhancer it's usually 3" I'm trying to do something familiar ?
Dan Speek got it. Like I said. I had the base of the muzzle device cut down a bit on a lathe.
Rear sight ?
It’s just a normal chopped down carry handle rear sight.
I’m sold
Why would you put a front post site now you can't use red dot
I run a 1/3 cowitness Mount with an aimpoint style sight. You can absolutely run a dot sight with iron sights.
Dude why do you have a fully loaded mag in the gun if you are not at the range?
I want to send u my fx9 so u can customize mine like yours
Mall ninja
Lol, this is about as anti-mall ninja as it gets. Just iron sights, no add-ons of any sort, lightweight and easy to run. Mall ninja setups have all kinds of dumb add-ons and "features".
Wow that thing is UGLY!!!!
