I just received my FX9. BRAVO on the detailed breakdown you give in this video. All of your videos to that point. I've watched numerious videos with 200k subscribers and non of them were as thorough as yours. Cheers mate and keep up the solid work! You got my subscription.
I'm probably going to do a lot of the same upgrades. Romeo5 installed last. Thank you for the video, I know what upgrades to get while my pistol is shipping, saving me weeks most likely
@@PracticalWeapons The one you first tried is fine just cut the sides to fit then heat the back flap and mold it to fill the gap flush. it will look great if you take your time to not trim too much. Good video BTW. ;
The extra part with your AFG is simply a replacement item (located under the bolt used to tighten the AFG in place). You'll see on your AFG the finger groove (that protrudes). You can remove that part (if you pull the screws out that hold the AFG together) and replace it with that part that is flat.
My fx-9 8 inch barrel doesn't have that picatinny rail on the bottom but small circles. I have just bought a key mod handstop that don't fit. Any ideas?
I’m not sure if you ever changed the grip or not but I bought the same one for mine. I took a heat gun and heated up the part the flares out and molded it flush against the receiver .
Full cowitness for the sights. The only thing is that my eyesight is getting worse so I am slowly moving away from bigger than 2 moa red dots. Romeo 5 is working fine
Like David said; the grip can be molded by applying heat to the top piece and mold to fit. Saw it done on a fx-9 on another channel and it turned out great!
I think it is a replacement for middle part of the AFG for those that like a more flat feel. Take a look at the photo in the middle of page magpul.com/firearm-accessories/grips/vertical-fore-grips/afg-2-angled-fore-grip.html?mp_global_color=118
@@mmalott85 That is what I was thinking - you guys have a newer FX-9 without bottom pic rail, so need to either use M-Lok AFGs or add a pic rail section.
No failures, only have modified the position of accessories more than once already...What seems to be comfortable in the home, is not the same at the range.
How do you likes the Romeo 5? I have this same pistols and need a red dot that will hold zero and stay illuminated. The Romeo 5 is one one of 3 I am considering along with the vortex crossfire 2 and vortex strike fire 2.
This seems to be a functional red dot, but the biggest value is long battery life and low price. I would take it above vortex crossfire and strike fire, but consider Holosun 515 or 403 sights as well. Alternatively I am running Vortex 1X prism...
And since it is a pistol, the AFG is legal to add to your rail. Now if you add on a vertical forward style grip, it would be illegal. So be careful with your choice.
Practical Weapons i bought mine and it is not a regular mount on bottom. Its just covered in long oval holes. Bought it new from a very busy ffl shop. I guess i just need to go back in there and find out from them.
Interesting. You probably have regular M-Lok then, I would recomend Fortis Shift M-Lok. MagPul MLOK grip for me was not compfortable. fortismfg.com/grips/mlok/ar15-fortis-shift-short-angled-grip-MLOK
Buyer beware. This gun is horrible for left handers. Thank God most my family is right handed. It will be going to them. I shot a hi point 9mm carbine of my brothers and had no gas and debris burning my face. I will be buying a hi point. Underated gun. The fx9 in my opinion is over rated given it jammed 5 times in the first 250 shots. Even my right handed son had 2 failures. Other than that he said he really likes the fx9. I do think the more rounds we shoot it is getting better. Just giving my 250 round opinion on this gun. Hope it helps others and if your left handed Do Not Buy an FX9.a few more things to say.. Left hand shooting is a lot more comfortable. So I understand how you feel. For gas in FX-9 - what ammo do you use? I am on Speer 124 TMJ right now and evaluating new Federal 150 polymer
Practical Weapons thank you, I added a flash can to my 4.5 inch barrel FX9. I am going to order their 7.5” hand guard but was looking for cheaper option.

Awesome, thank you!
Just took mine in to have 10 inch barrel put on it. Stoked to have that.
I have taken mine to the range recently and am probably going to make some more changes
The little flat filler for the Magpul angle grip. It replaces the the tab for your forefinger.
Thanks for demonstration picked up some good tips for my FX 9
any time. Plus I am going to be adding a few items to the FX-9, starting with a light.
I'm probably going to do a lot of the same upgrades. Romeo5 installed last. Thank you for the video, I know what upgrades to get while my pistol is shipping, saving me weeks most likely
I also replaced the brace recently
Bcm gunfighter mod 0 is what I use and it fits perfect
Good to hear. I am looking at the BCM mod 0, since there is no 'beaver tail' it looks like it would fit the best.
@@shock3r0129 yes it's a perfect fit and way better look than what comes with it
I ordered one, tried other types and makes of grips and no good fit yet.

Hmm, I will take a look.nit is going to the range soon
It’s a replacement for the finger shelf where it’ll be flat instead of having the forefinger knob right there
You can actually mold the moe k2 grip to fit

Yea you finally looked at the instructions
I am from Russia, instructions are never a first step. It is un-manly :)
@@PracticalWeapons you are funny this video had me laughing at some points. Really enjoyed it...thanks

Where did you buy the free float rail? Thx.
This is the original handguards, I have an older model fx9
How do your sights work with the Romeo5? Definitely has a cool look but are they usable?
Full cowitness for the sights. The only thing is that my eyesight is getting worse so I am slowly moving away from bigger than 2 moa red dots. Romeo 5 is working fine
The only requirement to hands on is trying. You succeeded so you went beyond the requirement! Good job!
Would adding the AFG-2 or a vertical grip be a problem with the law? Like would it be categorized as sbr if modified? Thanks
vertical group would make it Class 3 and AOW, hence no go. AFG - no problems
Practical Weapons thank you!
@@donlyl3 Simple answer is add vertical to a pistol and call yourself a felon. 8
Unless it is over 26 inch oal. But I would not want to be a guinea pig for playing that game
I want the 8 inch barrel. Idk if I’m gen. 1 or 2. Can’t find my paperwork.
You can check on their website using the serial number. It will tell you what generation your gun is and what is required to upgrade

What brand are fixed metal sights?
These are UTG
UTG - Super Slim series
What grip did you end up installing? Nice setup
Will check, ended up changing grips several times

I have Magpul Moe K grip on it right now
@@PracticalWeapons Thanks bro
Also have you ever installed the Magpul moe sl hand guard to the fx9? Wanted to know if it’s worth it
what rails did you install for your afg-2?
Mine is the original FX-9 - it has picatinny rails on top and bottom of the handguard
Mine never came with the rail on the bottom thats weird

It is the default one that came with the pistol
What bolt catch is that?
Default one that came with the pistol
How is the recoil on the FX9? I went with a CMMG Guard/Banshee. Worth the xtra $ IMO.
So far it is literally negligible recoil with 124, 147 and 150 gr ammo. Not using +P so far.
Sweet setup...
I need to set mine up better.
You should try the vizm spd red dot. Its accurate and no need for batteries if you're outside. I haven't had any problems with mines on the fx9.
Received, let me look at it. I was thinking of going with Holosun 515C actually, also a solar RD but could be more expensive than Vism.
Yeah. The vism is about 80 bucks on optics planet.
$64 on Dvor today... +$10 S&H
@@PracticalWeapons I might have to order another one for that cheap.
They are $75.99 on Opticsplanet now is.gd/54vp4D
The FX-9 has a mlok rail on the bottom doesn't it so did you have to add a mlok picatinny rail section to put the AFG-2 on?
my version still has picatinny on handguard top and bottom

Yes, plus older model than currently sold one
