Buddy will forever own the benchmark for the mastery of the Pedal Steel Guitar. No one has the tasteful playing Buddy had, and he never overplayed in the second half of a melody . Many players when doing the second verse try to fit as many notes in as possible and so often they ruin their own performance by messing up. Buddy never did that, and his tone was pure perfection .
I’m a Buddy Emmons fan too! I’m sure you have heard of Herb Remington? Herb was also a great steel guitarist! Oddly enough, both greats originated from Mishawaka, Indiana! It’s amazing that the City of Mishawaka put out two greats!
@@johnjp5883 I checked out Curly Chalker on RUclips and Wikipedia. Curly was definitely great on steel guitar. As a bandleader, he sounded like he wasn’t so nice. On stage he would cuss at his band members who made mistakes. I’m guessing that his temper held him back. If I’m not mistaken, managers and staff members from clubs/auditoriums wouldn’t like that! I’m a semi professional musician myself. I wouldn’t want to perform for someone with that kind of personality. Talented or not, a nasty personality isn’t fun to perform with. I’m one who will gladly perform with anyone of any talent level. As long as he or she is not a jerk!
Thank God there is video of the MASTER at work! You don't find any videos today of any of the acts, in Dallas Show, I would have loved to see all my old players on here today but for some reason they don't want you to Video The show? At least someone was smart enough to record THE BIG E..........
Listening to Buddy Emmons make me believe in miracles.
I shook hands with him when I was introduced to him in 1983. He had the hands of a surgeon.

Saw Buddy there the year before with Ray Price and Blonde. Sara Jory brought the house down too.
Ahh, those memories🙏🏼
Always love his tone and seamless style of chordal/melody on songs.
He was the best that I have ever heard. I saw him a few times when he was playing for Ray Price.
Buddy as usual is wonderful. And what a terrific fiddle player
My brother Ethan loved Buddy Emmons; had an Emmons pedal steel guitar that he played for years. Godspeed and peace, Ethan and Buddy!
Buddy Emmons = GOAT
What more can I say about Buddy Emmons that hasn't been said yet..........?
Simply put, The Worlds foremost Steel guitarist.
Often imitated, NEVER duplicated!

@@kinkajou777 also a Buddy fan but Curly Chalker may be another in that class?

When he laughs you know he got lost for a split second but his genius weaseled his way out of it. Incredible.
He played more by accident than I do trying.
Great song!!!
Always my favorite the Big E God Bless!
The Master...

Buddy is playing the same model EMCI pedal steel guitar I play. I only wish I can make it sound just one-fourth as good as he does!
The best
Big E!
you have steel players, then you have emmons ❤
He was so far ahead of the rest that they thought they were winning.
I like the piano players wig/dead animal on his head.
It's not dead ....
