Fantastic videos pal. Watched loads of different vids for sound deadening and carpeting a van and yours are by far the best for showing how it really is.. lots of tips and I feel more confident than ever to start on my own caddy now . Cheers 👍
I believe the video before this one I made them. I forgot a thumbnail so the video did terrible but basically made cardboard stencils then transferred to plywood. It was called sticky stuff remover but i think white spirit or something similar may be better. Thank you 👍
Thank you, two of the panels came off after a few weeks but it wasn’t the Velcro that gave way, it was the adhesive backing where it attaches to the wood. I used gorilla glue superglue and restuck them and haven’t had any problems since
Think it depends on the quality of finish u are looking for, u can carpet the ply panels. I think pulling them out and carpeting them away from the van would give the best finish but I’m sure if you take ur time could probably do them in place aswell
@@FreeworldOL hi mate yeah it’s not a shoe van just simply to stop the bikes kit you the frame and ply. Sure it will be sound! How many tins of spray did you use and any tips or tools ?
I bought the carpet and the spray fix together. It’ll be in one of the other comments how much I used and where I got it from if the link in the bio is out of date but think it was 4 way stretch carpet 8msq and about 8 cans of spray fix. Start at the top and work down, take ur time, when cutting the carpet always have a fresh Stanley blade. They dull fast. Putting it onto the ply should be a lot more straight forwards than what I did as the surface is flat. Hardest bit was from the rear arch to the back door, just super slow and stretch the carpet out and you’ll get there
Peter Sumner for the inserts made stencils from cardboard by putting them to the area and cutting until I had the correct shape then outlined onto the ply lining reusing what I had previously removed from the van and cut using a jigsaw
Thank you for watching and commenting! On the wheel arches are 2mm sound deadener by silent coat. Had it left over for when I sound deadened and insulated the floor
Been waiting for this one 👌 Did you leave the rear rubber seal off when you did the carpeting ? Also around the rear roof where you made the join was that difficult, did you over lap it ?
Thanks, Pulled the rubber seals off, carpeted to the edge and fresh Stanley blade down the edge. Will put rubber back on in next video. Joining on the roof was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. Again fresh Stanley blade. Overlapped but didn’t use the adhesive past the overlap point if that makes sense then pulled it down at 90 degrees and cut really slowly along the join. Hope that helps 👍

Thank you so much, hope they helped when you actually made a start on it. Patience wins all 👍
Thanks Olly all your videos have really helped. Keep it up mate
Glad u are enjoying them and they are helpful to you. Hoping to get the next one done this weekend 👍
Very helpful video. would you have a link for the screw-in clips, please?
Did you make the insert panels or buy them pre cut? Also what was the glue remover called.
Great job you’ve done there 👍🏻

Hi Olly great vid, where did you get the fixings for the panels the 1’s with the Phillips head ?
thanks olly
No bother, hope it was useful
Enjoying watching these vids! Where about did you get the correct clips from in the end please
Thank you very much for taking the time to watch them. Mega van mats, screw type panel clips
Try heating clips up a little that way plastic won’t snap !
Great video.. May I ask, the cool panels in the wheat colour, has the velcro held OK?
Thank you, two of the panels came off after a few weeks but it wasn’t the Velcro that gave way, it was the adhesive backing where it attaches to the wood.

@@FreeworldOL ~ Many thanks.
No sound deadening or insulation on the sides? You did under the floor but seems no insulation on the sides?
Yeah, did the lower part and window shapes same way as the floor. Also carpeted which does both too
Hi oly where did you get the longer push clips from ?
Mega van mats
Where did you get the carpet from?
Hi, I got it from vandalised.co.uk 4 waystretch carpet
I can vouch for these guys, mine arrived today from them and it seems spot on 👍🏼
Hi mate mine is all ply lined and it’s only for the mtb really. Could I just carpet straight over the ply do you think?
Yes that would work. Defo an easier way
Do I have to take all my ply panels off or can I just stick on top? More of a mtb cushion than a camper cheer

@@FreeworldOL thanks mate yesh I am only doing the ply and have bought two cans hopefully be enough. Thanks for getting back to us.
Olly, can I ask where did you get the window panels from?

Olly, thank you! I’ve been thinking for days the best way to cut them myself, I don’t know why I didn’t think of using cardboard 🤦🏼♂️
I think I spent ages looking for somewhere to buy them before randomly coming across the cardboard stencil thing
I was look also and no luck until now. Out of all the videos on here I’ve found yours have been the most helpful so cheers 👍🏻.
Just realised the video before this one I cover the inserts
Hi olly great vid ..thank you, just wanted to ask is that sound prove or just foil insulation you put ove the wheel arch??.
Thank you for watching and commenting! On the wheel arches are 2mm sound deadener by silent coat. Had it left over for when I sound deadened and insulated the floor
Hi mate what colour?
Hi, carpet is black inserts are dark grey
Been waiting for this one 👌
