One tip I've learnt about adding the panels over carpeted areas, use a soldering iron on the original panel before carpeting it to create the holes needed for the clips. Worked an absolute treat for me!
I have worked with material nearly all my life, but I can't tell you how many times I have cut or fixed a piece the wrong way round - you are not alone!
Hi Chris enjoyed watching the video brought back memories i just finished fully converting my caddy maxi. love the ceiling would have loved to do the same but got the pop-top now, the Alcantara material looks cracking sets it off. ATB Ally 👍
You should have drilled the holes in the wood before you covered it then just used a sharp Bradle or similar just to punch a small hole in the material. Do you have a link for the fibre lights mate?
I did try this on another piece and it doesn't work as the when you try to pierce the hole it separated the fabric from the wood. The links in the description buddy.
Looking good pal don’t know if u did it off cam but just done the same With my caddy and behind the seats in what would of been the rear footwells is worth sound deadening as I noticed a massive improvement in that area for road. Noise
Question for you would you drill roof board first then glue alcentara then use like a darning needle to push through material if you did this again and where did you purchase the fibre optic kit thanks in advance
Fantastic job. I have the same van and dog fyi. I love the way you showed the issues you came across along the way. I am just starting this process. The road noise is doing my head in. I love the black. ✅
Great VT 👊🏼 did you run the starlight’s from the existing headliner factory light? If so, is it possible to do this with LED downlighting spots? Cheers
What a disaster. Your delivery is confident (without foundation) but you’ve Definetly got your ambitions confused with your ability. Everything you could have fucked up you did. Great tutorial (said no one🙄)
Gave up watching - this is only a half job. You’ve installed sound deadening but nothing on the roof! You’ve completely overlooked proper thermal deadening. I hope other people don’t follow your system. You are going to end up with hidden condensation behind the panels and that will also lead to mould. Sorry, but you’ve done a very poor job.
DODO MAT is for sound deadening *NOT* insulation 🤦🏻♂️ I’m sure DODO-MAT will appreciate the sale also you’re wallet won’t be thanking you for the _New_ MPG you’ll be getting We live and we learn ✌🏼💚🏁🚛💨💨
@@Chris_Slix Where? In the doors? The doors should NOT be getting insulated inside, but this is useless anyway, since the other 95% of the van are only matted with sound deadening material instead of insulation.
You totally messed that up with ‘Soundproofing’ dodo mat. It’s only meant to be added aabout one piece to each panel. Then use insulation mat to all thr interior. You’ve added the wrong stuff and made it too heavy unnecessarily.

smashing it mate the van is taking shape and looking sick looking forward to the next one 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍

I didn't but I will make sure I do when I get a chance!

Like the way your mates are mates when you need them
Your telling me!

How would you do it without snagging the material when installing the stars?
Wood laminate would look 👌 on the floor, when it comes to replacing the shagpile
True but carpet is more sound deadened and warmer 😊 maybe wood in the summer 🤣
Great VT 👊🏼 did you run the starlight’s from the existing headliner factory light? If so, is it possible to do this with LED downlighting spots? Cheers
It is yes :) x x
How is the signal in the van with all the sound deadening
con qué cinta habéis cubierto los huecos de la chapa?
Looks the dogs, what are you going to use it for, all,of your cleaning gear?👍👍👍👍👍👍
Mainly as a affordable reliable daily driver I think!
How much material did you use thinking of swapping mine out
I ordered 11m but have plenty leftover
What wires were you using to tap into the lights? Currently got led downlights ready to fit but wanted to run it off the switch like standard
Hi Chris! where did you get that alcantara? thanks and keep up the hard work!!!!!
Just popped the link in the description
@@Chris_Slix What a LEGEND!!
Matt supervising 😂

Hey mate, top job! How is it with heat retention now?

Looks great! What year Caddy is it?
It’s the last video so how can we see the next video gutted i was looking forward too see it finished 😢
Is that matts unit there.. see you wearing his merch 👍🏻
A question: if a van is only used in warm summer days, do you think the insulation is important then?
It can work the other way and keep it cool during the summer
nice stuff.youl have to comr and do my van
Maybe one day Steve!
mat armstrong there??
Awesome, coming together well, any left for the cab doors?
Yes luckily I will get it done when I get time!
Where I can buying the carpets plz
😍
Will an rs3 engine fit under the bonnet ?
Its been done before rs3 swapped caddy, lot of work, rs3 sub frame gear box engine quattro
@@JordzyBrev be an awesome sleeper that
honestly I think the drill bit was just a bit too big for the starlight roof but oh well
Can’t help but feel he coppys mat on these videos 😄 unless they just have identical personalities and speech tones

You might want to check out the dodo mat thermo fleece i was fitting throughout the video buddy! 😊 its great.
@@Chris_Slix was too busy typing lol ,, *SO* seems that DODO-MAT has branched out into heat insulation as well then 🤦🏻♂️😂✌🏼🏴
@@Chris_Slix Where? In the doors? The doors should NOT be getting insulated inside, but this is useless anyway, since the other 95% of the van are only matted with sound deadening material instead of insulation.
I'm suggesting that you have to install a windows on this van
Track experience company must have personally waved goodbye to you
I don't understand what you mean by this? haha
How to ruin a decent video.... Music BLARING out, unwatchable
The mistake 😂 not the first person to do that and won't be the last.

Just pay someone to do it waste of time
