I don't understand how this song isn't more well known. In my opinion, this is one of their best songs ever. The guitar solo and the sound in the end is just infernal.
detonator2112 if you listen To The original versión at the beginning in the part where the guitar distortion beggins, eddie makes a special effect right left try it with the earphones
Probably because Sammy Hagar sung it and not DLR. I’m not saying Sammy sucks. He made EVH a better guitar player. But Diamond Dave is what made Van Halen, Van Halen.
@@lotlum4343 I never liked Diamond Dave. Not as a singer, not as a showman. It's just a matter of opinion. Debut, Fair Warning, 1984 and even A Different Kind of Truth are still good albums though.
Arguably my favorite song they have ever written. So much heart and emotion sopping wet with all of them confident in each other. Salude to you gentlemen for this masterpeace indeed. thank you.
This is Sammy's finest vocal performance on RUclips right behind Eagles Fly in Toronto live. Please celebrate this guy before he's gone. There will never be another Sammy Hagar.
Yep, totally true. And his recent activity as the ultimate interviewer with other musicians - ones you might think he might not have anything to do with - is totally awesome. Sammy is the Joe Rogan of the music world. His personality is simply inspiring. Always upbeat and looking forward.
When I bought balance on cd.. I listened to it over and over.. day after day week after week.. I was lucky to get to see them live on this tour.. it was awesome..
❤❤❤ I dedicate this song to my husband who recently passed away..this was his favorite VH song...41years years baby .....I love ❤️ you!! RIP Patrick 🙏 I miss you!!
One of the musical greats of my generation has left us. Eddie Van Halen is gone and we shall never see another like him. Condolences to his family! Rock on for all eternity, EVH! Mad respect!
The thing I loved about VH with Sammy is that there was no bullshit. Sammy sang songs from all the albums. They got on stage and played amazingly every show. Can you imagine Roth singing one of the Hagar songs? Hahaha. Not a chance. He couldn't now anyways. Actually, he couldn't have back in 86!!!
Paul Greenwell Take it from someone who grew up listening to Van Halen with DLR, and saw them in concert a half a dozen times. This does not even come close to the original van Halen live, think what you will but I was there for both and there is no comparison.
@@PoollShark -- You claim to be a VH "expert" or are you tone deaf? Sammy kicks Dave's ass back then and NOW! Dave is a washed up lounge act singing DLR karaoke. 😂
Been a VH fan all my life can’t believe this song somehow escaped me! What a masterpiece maybe it’s because we are feeling this more now he is gone , and EVH was already feeling it then :) Ether way it sure hits home and fits today 👍
I loved this song from the very first time I ever heard it. Now it seems so appropriate that it was the last song on the last album with SH. Not sure why, but that just feels right for some reason.
Wow, just rediscovering my love for Van Halen. I had forsaken the Sammy era. My god, some amazing songs! Specially on Balance! I am so glad i decided to listen to them. This song just tears at your aoul. If you can't feel this, you are a psychopath!
I am definitely partial to the Roth-Era VH. However, this is right up there with their all-time greats. Sammy’s vocals along with what could be Eddie’s most underrated guitar solo. Truly incredible, gives me goosebumps. The best band, both eras had kick-ass songs.

Best Van Halen song ever? That's begging for an argument, but this is one of their best for sure. And no one knows about it. That makes it even better.
@@teamrecon2685 I do remember when that album came out. It was a sudden change for Van Halen, but that album held a new energy and uplifting feel. So long ago, yet I can still remember that.
Judas Priest that is a f'n guitar player, a songwriter, vocals off the chart. It's easy to feel sad when you watch this. What you should feel is pure joy that we were here to witness it. This kid is the finest musician rock has ever seen. Sammy throws out a killer vocal too. Thank God I was a kid in the 60's 70's and 80's. Probably seen 300-400 live shows, thanks to my uncle in the security business. I feel so bad about what kids are forced to listen to today. The excitement when the lights went out was palpable. Rock needs a comeback, where musicians show their talents. All you need today is a drum machine, filthy lyrics & Pro Tools. Will we ever get that magic back? It's been 30 years!
This song to me is without a doubt the most meaningful work of art they have ever performed. You can almost feel a sense of urgency in this song. I think Sam kind of knew that the end of a dynasty was coming. This song projects this in every way and in the end you can here a little Zeppelin, Kashmir? What better way to bow out gracefully. Eddie is wonderful and it shows in his face and smile that he is content. Losing Sam was like losing a brother, but hopefully in the end they will reconcile. How can you deny the energy and talent in this song? They are all doing there own thing right now but , I hope they will return to there roots and end this thing peacefully. Long live these gentlemen and may there futures be as bright as they once were. Cheers to you Sam and VH!!!!!
You're right. It's crazy how underrated song this is. Best song they ever made. Period. The studio version in Balance is even better. The solo and that hellish guitar sound in the end is out of this world.
Along with Seventh Seal my fave off the Balance album and really done well here although Ed and Sam might as well be in separate rooms here.Once again Mike’s b/u vocals are awesome.Imagine if Brad Delp(R.I.P) and Mike shared the stage.

The amazing thing about all this... is that if you listen to Eddie on record and live!! it's amazing how he sounds the same in all the songs!! unlike other great guitarists who sound different live... for a reason he is the best in history!! EVH 🔥🔥🔥
Best song Van Halen have put together so much soul and feeling, musically at the top of their game even though they had personality issues. I pray they play again in my lifetime and theirs. And they have a good time doing it, what ever is worth doing its worth doing for fun.
I saw the 2004 tour on the first night and it was my favorite concert ever. My favorite band in my favorite incarnation. However, if I had to complain about one thing it would be that they didn't play ANY songs off of Balance. To me, Balance was top to bottom an incredible album and the last truly great album VH did.
