Can't help myself to feel sad seeing this. Although the amazing band that we all still love. People won't live forever, time is inexorable, but great music isn't.
I didn’t cry but it got me in the feels more than ANY celebrity’s death. I’ll probably feel the same when the other three here go. Not Dave tho, I respect his contribution but he fucked everything else up later.
I cried like a baby the first time I heard Love Walks In and knew these were my guys, Van Halen the Balladeers of Rock, and I didn't care what anyone thought about it. Diamond Dave's thing just isn't my style. I cried again when Eddie died, and that very day, Sammy posted a performance of he and Eddie performing Love Walks in at a benefit, just piano and voice. They captured a rare magic there and it's a shame so many people, including Eddie and Sammy at times, have taken that special thing for granted. Eddie Van Halen isn't my favorite guitarist of all time, but he's my favorite keyboard player and will always hold that spot in my heart.
I have cried one single time in my life from the passing of a non family member. It was for EVH. I am 55, and started playing guitar in 1982, with Van Halen posters plastered on my wall. The King.

The second version of VH is my favorite, the group matured in such a way I don't think D.Lee could of hung with them. Then there's Sammy... The guy's range and vocal control as a live performer is dead on pitch perfect, likely one of the most under rated rock singers of all time. Granted both fronts had their moments, Dave had the flash and visuals but Sammy took it to a different level vocally and lyrically.
That solo is so immaculate to me and especially how the guitar just feels like it’s a punch in the face. I know people think the brown sound was the best but in my opinion, 5150 up to Balance was Eddie’s prime sound with his melodic playing and just the overall tone in general

@rj zander Fair Warning.
The fact it wasn't so "pop" was great!
Rock bands in the 80s had some insane vocals!!!! I’m still in awe of Eddie Van Halen’s immense talent on the guitar and piano. He seemed so dedicated. That guitar gave him purpose. No wonder he is so good. He cherished his guitar and God given talent. We should all strive to be like that with our own talents. RIP
No one has ever made a guitar sing like Eddie. You have touched so many with your music and will be truly missed. RIP Eddie Van Halen 2020
..when Letterman was great. I remember staying up late to watch this, VCR armed & ready. lol!
rg2027x same here lol
@@radric Right on bro' 👍 👍 👍 🎸 cheers🍺 TV was actually worth watching then..Now it's become a wasteland of mind numbing BS in my opinion. I use to especially love Letterman, all the great inspiring musical guests featured. It was the highlight of the show to see em jam out with the World Most Dangerous Band!
Right on! That’s why we are on RUclips looking for the good stuff 👍🏼
Truth! That's why I made my channel, an escape from the bullshit
Late night TV just sucks major balls, It's so political I don't see how anybody could stand watching it
Miss you eddie 😢 this song breaks me in 2 seeing Eddie happy and healthy on piano smiling and the guitar solo for me is up there with his best work rest easy Eddie ❤ always missed never ever forgotten
Thank you EVH for bringing this beautiful song and a lifetime of entertainment. RIP.
Its Still Not Enough. The energy was very strong with these guys. RIP EVH ! The World is MISSING You 🙏
I almost come to tears when I hear VH music. Not fully appreciated in my youth.
One of the best rock singers and rock guitarist....
RIP Eddie a true legend we were blessed to have in our lifetime.
Eddie's wave & smile.....the cutest thing ever! LOVE LOVE LOVE this song and I remember seeing it aired in Australia and I called my fiancee on the other side of the country to be sure to watch it when comes in (time difference). Mad VH fans for life!
Dreaming of a Van Halen album for 2020 with Sammy singing! OMG!
Dreaming of a 2020 with ed is all I want...get well
Hagar could still hit the notes, id say do it
@@Mattowarrior777 No, he can't.
This didn’t age well
@@GeorgeZimmermen This cliche didn't ag ... is just stupid ok?
The second version of VH is my favorite, the group matured in such a way I don't think D.Lee could of hung with them. Then there's Sammy... The guy's range and vocal control as a live performer is dead on pitch perfect, likely one of the most under rated rock singers of all time.
Granted both fronts had their moments, Dave had the flash and visuals but Sammy took it to a different level vocally and lyrically.
Not to mention that Sammy Hagar is a great guitar player himself, which freed up Eddie to do keyboard duties during the early Van Hagar years.
And they treated Sammy like shit
Sammy was a musician. Roth was a clown with a lousy no range "voice".
@@judithryle2113 Sammy isn't without some blame as well.
@@deltawhiskey1398well, Sammy was just reacting to what was being thrown at him from the Van Halen bros.
I saw them live on this tour. Greatness.
So good then, So good now.🌻❤️
I would have never imagined I would mourn someone I never knew so much. Gone too soon, RIP Eddie
This solo is beautiful !
That solo is so immaculate to me and especially how the guitar just feels like it’s a punch in the face. I know people think the brown sound was the best but in my opinion, 5150 up to Balance was Eddie’s prime sound with his melodic playing and just the overall tone in general
I agree
The best Van Halen line up ever. Sammy and Eddie were made for each other. They both push each other to be great.
Musical soul mates those two were and Ed fucked it up.
False!
Hell yeah. Eddie, Alex, Michael, Sammy, and Paul Shafer.
The mighty V H . And they were. They composed some epic music.
Miss those good ol dayz with Sammy. Always waiting for that next album.
I member watching this the night it aired.
Good times!!!!!!!!!
The best formation from Van Hallen
This hits so hard. Right in the feelers. Rest well Eddie.
I am in Indonesia.
I like this song and video. nice song and video.
good voice and music.
Van Halen is great rock band.
good luck for Van Halen.
greetings from Indonesia.
thank you.
THE MIGHTY VAN HALEN!!! UNMATCHED
Eddie is a Legend. And one of the revolutions that guitar has seen since it was played for the very first time. Eddie is not only a great guitarist, is a Musical Genius.
Absolute Genius. He wants perfection and demands it. Love It! Gene Simmons can't say it enough , "There will never be another Eddie with that sheer Talent and Creativity" I COULD NOT agree more Gene. God Rest his Soul, he seemed in his personal life to be a great Father and Man ! We Love U Eddie
His personal life was terrible. His son grew up with a drunken drug addict dad
Rip EVH gutted I never saw you live. Love your music.greetings to all from london,England
Man they worked so well together for many years. Always seemed they were having a blast too. Sammy is class and VH needs him more than the other way around imo
I can't hold my tears when ever I see my Hero Eddie Van Halen. Love you Eddie & Miss you every day of my life.
