With League of legends reaching levels of popularity no one could predict, some copy cats came with it.
Specifically Mobile Legends.
A game which through it's whole existence has always been accused of stealing their assets and ideas from other games.

Games have long been cloned. For multiplayers, youre choosing the playerbase you wish to play with.
How come Riot is getting away with their own theft, that's what interests me.
Well, it's a little different for this. They key points of difference is that Mobile Legends are for phones, a device that a lot of people even in urban areas can have access to, and Leauge of Legends isn't. The frustration though, is very much reasonable and this whole situation is just unfortunate to the person who originally made LOL, since a copy is more popular than your idea.

I'm honestly glad Riot made that move to have Wild Rift, I was so tired of dealing with Moneyton's bullshit like the poor optimization turning my phone into a waffle iron, and the mediocre voice acting with poorly translated Chinese jokes

i especially love it when mlbb players see a league champ or skin and theyre like "omg this looks like ______ from mlbb!" like theyre implying mlbb came up with it first
DUDE ME TOO, i was told to screenshare my dota 2 gameplay to a hardcore mythic rank mlbb friend and his reaction is barely any surprise and only makes reference to similarity heroes/abilities in the game
And guess what? My dota match went for 40 minute (just average) and he fell asleep while watching my live gameplay, and until now he didn't kept his promise on trying other moba game (obviously he's bored because he's mythic in mlbb now)

Here in the Philippines Mobile Legends is very popular, almost everyone that I know plays it. I never really played it because i don't play much games, probably mostly focus on other stuff.
As an artist, this confuse me because there is a difference between copying ideas and taking inspiration. But honestly, I don't know much about both of these games.
Sa totoo lang okay sana kung inspiration tulad ng sabi mo. pero kung nilaro mo Dota, LoL and ML malalaman mo kung saan galing ang ginagamit mong Hero at Skins. Ang technique ni Moonton ay 3 Skills galing sa ibang game tapos ilalagay sa isang Hero nila o di kaya Characters Details change lang nila Name and Skills ng Hero.
Sa totoo lang halos 1000+ na unreleased skin na nileak pero ni isa walang lumabas dahil gayang gaya ang Theme, Details and Effects.
Like Soraka skin nilagay sana kay Miya biglang kinancel dahil gayang gaya ang Details, Theme and Effect
Soraka Skin Effects, Winter Theme and Skin Outfit also the Background
Problem with inspiration vs actual blatant copying is walang credits and/or napaka gaya to the point of it just re skinning something (its basically like fair use except moontin didnt follow fair use)

is a testament of how hungry the Mobile Gaming Market was for a MOBA game and that RIOT didn't take advantage of it
Here in South East Asia, Mobile Legends still have Wild Rift beat in terms of game downloads and popularity.
Wild Rift's announcement was too late and RIOT kept delaying and the Playerbase couldn't take it. Thus they invested their hunger on what was ready for the meal.
Mobile Gaming is usually mocked and scoffed at in the West (example: Diablo Immortal), but this mindset isn't good in terms of business. They underestimated the potential of Mobile Games especially in East.
Mobile Gaming, no matter even if it is plagiarised is no longer a joke.
Indeed, Moonton simply supplied for a Market that was hungry.
So much so that the players didn't mind if its plagiarised as long as its fun to play.

Wild rift last hurdle to by pass is localization of server, or something similar. 'cuz by the god the ping is horrendous when I got matched with East Asian player (I'm South East Asian).

Here's the thing, 3rd world countries has a very poor network connection. Moonton did a special treatment to it so this poor players can play even using a laggy phone.
And that's where Riot has a problem with, compensating to poor players.

Honestly, in my opinion Moonton deserves all the loss of a playerbase they get. I remember back in 2016-2017 when I first tried Mobile Legends, there was a champion that was literally exactly like Xin Zhao and there were already a ton of similarities, so much so that I wondered if Riot endorsed Mobile Legends officially. Ripping off such a thing and then "getting mad" when the original creator expands into the market you were trying to rip off is the most ridiculous and childlike behavior I've ever seen from a company.
Dude the original name was zhao xin or something like that, they were more blatant back then.
I remembered reading "Wu-Kongs" name in "Sun's" character description just copy paste 😂😂

Blood moon Jhin is so worth it. Was planning on buying Dark Cosmic Jhin, but when they released some of the blood moon skins especially Blood Moon Jhin I instantly topped up. I’m contemplating on getting K/DA All Out Seraphine and Pool Party Orianna or Project Ashe and Lunar Beast Fiora.

It's also kinda Riot's fault for not listening to Tencent in the first place. Last 2015 (I think), Tencent requested Riot to make a mobile version of League. Riot declined because they said LoL couldn't be implemented on mobile. As a result, Tencent make the chinese moba I forgot the name, and Riot got mad that Tencent made a mobile moba similar to LoL.
Then, Mobile Legends came and took assets from the Tencent moba and LoL. Soon, it became popular that Riot learned they lost the oppurtunity to claim the mobile market in the first place, so they made Wild Rift on 2020, which was too late as the mobile mobas made years ago was too big. That's why the game's not growing because it's too late for the market.
If Riot listened to Tencent years ago, they could be taking over the mobile market by now, and no Mobile Legends, plagiarism, or any lawsuit would happen.

It is kind of funny watching this as a dota player, we barely get any advertising.
On the plus side you never feel tricked into buying something, and our World Championship doesn't have any sponsors, apart from Valve advertising their vr stuff or teasing a new game (though I doubt they will try that again)
Yes Valve won't have the money/talent to produce something as amazing as Arcane, but competition and skin sales are of very little concern in our bubble.
LoL is inspired by DotA 1 if I'm not mistaken.
I remember when I first time tried DotA 2, I fed the bots, the AI, as Mars. At the end of game I was 0/10 I think. I played LoL before, and I though DotA 2 would be easy and similar and I though I could use my knowledge from LoL in this game...
@@heroes-of-balkan There are stronger counters/synnergies in Dota then in League, and the bots will almost always team up against you. But you can play cat and mouse with them if you just push out lanes, then get back in time before they catch you. Because the bots stick together, your team will end up with more exp and gold over time for an easy win.

The fact that the name "Mobile Legends" says it all. They couldn't come up with their own name. Even their characters are blatant copy of League. If Moonton really wants people to take their game seriously, they need to change their game's name into an original one and stop copying league's champs like hell. Otherwise the game will always be known as the knockoff version of League of Legends. 🤷

Also, Not only they copied LOL but some of their stuff is taken from other games as well. like Dota 2's pudge, invoker ( maybe more) and even saw some overwatch. theres probably many more that i missed but what i just said was just the tip of the iceberg to the list of things they copied
You do know Zhao yun(courtesy name zilong)is literally a historical chinese military general it is no way copied from dynasty warriors but rather just a game remake of a historical figure. Yes ml has copied other things but please make sure what they did copy and what they didn't.

The success of Mobile Legends in Asia is a testament on how Mobile Games getting treated as *Lower Form of Games* is no longer factual especially in terms of Business.
Games are still games. Mobile is simply a Platform for games much like PC and Console is a platform for games.
Nintendo Switch is bordering the Mobile Game market because of its hybrid form of Home and Portable Console.
In technicalities, Mobile Phones are like Nintendo Switches but cannot be a home console yet and with more uses than just playing games.
Basically, like a Mini Touchscreen Laptop.

Regardless of that, Mobile Gaming will STILL be treated as a lower form of gaming. Asia (especially SEA) countries may take mobile gaming a little more seriously but that only applies to specific games.
Mobile gaming is still unreliable, touchscreen controls are still problematic and not enough companies (specifically BIG AAA Companies) give a fuck about the mobile market. Sure, maybe we get the occasional "old classic game gets ported" or some spinoff titles like the new Nier Automata and the reremake of FF7 that includes the compilation titles but the vast majority of people will still demand these on proper platforms.
The reason why the Switch is successful despite it's "mobile gaming"-like nature is because it is more reliable as a system. AAA companies care about it, first party games (that are worth buying the system for) exists and it has PROPER controllers that are tenfold more comfortable than touchscreen controls.
I'm not against mobile gaming, I just don't find any reason as to why I should game on it in the first place and many others probably have this reasoning behind why they don't play mobile games at all.
If I wanted to game on the go, I can play MUCH better and higher quality games on my Switch.
If I wanted to play crap like Mobile Legends, League of Legends is a much better alternative and this goes for a lot of games on mobile as the majority of them are rip-offs of already existing game titles, one way or another.

I play Mobile Legends and I'm aware of all the stuff Moonton copies from League Of Legends, however I don't think I'll change to Wild Rift since I already got used to Mobile Legends with all of it's characters, mechanics and etc. And changing to another game at this point would be difficult since I would have to learn all of the mechanics from the champions, skills and so on. Not to mention, my phone can't handle a game like Wild Rift I literally have to put all of the graphics low on ML just to play lol

Tencent was the one who won of 2.9 million USD (and around half of it went to Riot).
But even until now mlbb is still clearly copying other games, not just League but also games like Honor of Kings (The chinese counterpart of AOV), Clash Royale, Overwatch, Dota, Legends of Runeterra (which we can already see from the Paquito hero cinematic) and other games that aren't even popular worldwide, that's why they're always escaping out of it.
Also to addition, even before when mobile legends was still on it's very first early stages, it even took a literal character from another game or a movie/tv show like Po from kung fu panda and make it into their own hero akai (with the design of Po) considering that even one of his splash art skin before was just a cropped out photo from a pic of the cover of one of the movies of the Kung fu panda franchise and alucard before (which was named Dante at that time) was just a character taken from Devil May Cry.

Honestly, Mlbb has one thing that lets it stand out in moba games in my opinion, and that is short games with easy to understand mechanics. Not everybody has the time and equipment to play a half hour lol game or longer and from what I could see so far, lol heroes actually have more complicated skills and more skills in general. I am not saying that mlbb didn't copy from lol, cuz they certainly did, but they brought it into a format that is more accessible to more people.
Also, on a more personal note, the lol map is so dark I always get depressive when I see it. Don't ask me why, it just looks kinda dark and sad. I might just be too used to mlbb's lighter and brighter map and atmosphere, but that has been one of the reasons I have not started playing lol even after I had gotten a pc that was capable of playing it.
It's kinda bad moontoon copied riot's game, at least you can enjoy and play with your friends the problem is the toxic players which i hate.

To be fair, it's not a COMPLETE carbon copy. Moonton did a pretty great job adjusting it for mobile gaming
Mobile Legends plays at a far faster pace compared to League of Legends, allowing for pretty quick games. Knowing that games usually dont take you 20 - 30 minutes usually means that you can whip out your phone while waiting for a jeepney or bus, then your game will be finished before or once you reach your destination(I usually observe this as the case for students going to school, and even occasionally adults going to work. Obviously, this was before the pandemic)

Actually, it is kinda dark in lolwr, it has like a foggy battle, but you can see enemies clearly, the announcer also has a soothing voice, meanwhile ML have a very colorful environment which is more entertaining for mobile users, fast paced and have a energetic announcer, seeing lolwr for the first time feels kinda sad to me coz of the dark environment. In the Philippines, League of Legends is also popular. However, when the pandemic hits, LOL isn't popular anymore because people can't go out of their places and play LOL in internet cafes to obey 'safety protocols' (Yeah, most people play PC games in internet cafes) and play Mobile Legends instead (and the game became a trend and hit). But it is so obvious that ML just copied LOL, every time LOL has an update they also copy it. Riot should persuade people here in SEA to play WR rather than ML by fixing the game (Some people say WR is broken sometimes) because LOL deserves more attention than ML that just copied everything.
And also teachers think ML is one of the main reasons why students are getting low grades LMAO.

@@wilsonbagas3614 yea that's acceptable, it's very understandable, I agree, but I just wanna say that, umm yea even though it have a bit of a boost, It's not that big, it's like no difference but there is a difference, The boost Gives 10 times more less than The weakest Items in the game, the +8 phy attack is Lot weaker than the attack of a minion, and it's just 3 points more many than Diggie egg form attack, so It's like no difference but with different, ik it's confusing, it's also same with the +100 hp and +8 magical, But don't forget I still agree with your opinion. @@wilsonbagas3614 who said skin gives damage well they said skin gives 8percent power but its not true I tested it the real reason why you feel the person who have skin have more damage is that 1st you're a newbie. 2nd your emblem level is 20 or very low .3rd there level is always higher than you cause u feed them. 4th u don't know how to build items and one more think emblem is the man reason Behind your hero damage the more your emblem level is higher then your damage is higher than the player who have low emblem and never say skin gives boost damage cause i'm an average pro player and always teamup with your same rank player
I would like to point out that Vainglory was the most unique mobile moba considering it’s the only one that has tap controls. Been a sad time since it died.

Dude. When Riot start League of Legends they sell skins for a fair price even their first tournament that had an issue, they gave free Riot Points and Teemo Hats. They care about their players. That's what also Vainglory did, and sadly it's dead now, but even if it's dead it will still remain one of the best games ever and will still remain the one of the most respected games compared to all 'hopefully'. But VG has still hope and I hope that at the upcoming future they wouldn't make mistakes again as what they did in the past as they've learned from it...
@@kucingtepijalan3459 bruv riot does the same thing ☠ only two superfast examples because i can find you at the very leasttt 50 ,Fiora got a prestige and her passive went up from 2.5% to 3.5% heal and hp% dmg and also same with anivia was getting skin and that champ got super buffed and got gutted 3 weeks later.
Still remembered when ML literally did an event where they'd make the normal skins cost 1 diamond when wildrift was in beta testing
