42x13.50R20 NITTO Trail Grappler MT Tires & KMC Grenade Beadlock Wheels on a Jeep Gladiator JT Truck

- Nitto has been manufacturing their awesome Trail Grappler for a little over 10 years now and in a 40" tire for the last 5 of them. During that time, they’ve rightfully earned a reputation for being one of the best mud terrain tires that money can buy and specifically because of how well they perform out on the race course, out on the rocks and maybe most importantly, out on the highway as a daily driver. Of course, Cindy and I have been running Trail Grapplers for years and in a 40 on both Moby and our JT and honestly, I could never imagine a need for anything bigger. But then, sometimes, BIGGER is more of a desire than a need.
Coming this February, Nitto will be releasing their Trail Grappler in a 42x13.50R20 and thanks to our good friend Mel Wade, the owner of EVO Manufacturing, Cindy and I got a chance to be the very first people to test them out and on our Jeep Gladiator. We hope you enjoy what you see.

We left Garden Grove in the summer of '69.
Because of this video I was able to locate offroad evolution and get with Mel about building my jeep. Just waiting on parts to finish showing up and taking my jeep to them. I can't hardly wait for the call to get started, I have been like a kid waiting for Christmas morning. What a great bunch of folk down at OE.

Seeing these tires at the dodge dealership I can honestly say watching them on video doesn't do them justice. They are ridiculously massive like an industrial tractor tire.

I love finding new uses for Pledge. We use it on our black ElCamino SS a couple days before & once we get done driving to the show grounds for show. 😏 it would be cute to have documented the puppers growth by sitting in front of different height tires

Hey my friend, I couldn't agree with you more. As far as ORE goes, it's what makes them so good at what they do - EXPERIENCE and years upon years of it.
Size does matter. My CJ2A had 600x16’s or 28.5x4.5 and going to the biggest tire I could stuff under it in stock form in 1978 was 31x1.5x15 and that was a big deal🤣 back then...now you are almost a foot taller😳 who would have ever imagined. Thanks for sharing👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
LOL - I hear where you're coming from. I've kept my CJ3B, Jeepster Commando and CJ5 all stock or relatively so. These new tires dwarf them 😜

Meanest looking gladiator out there. The smoothness and balance at 80mph was amazing.
Funny thing is, we hadn't calibrate our speedometer yet when that was filmed. Turned out it was off by about 6 miles so we were really doing about 86 MPH. Crazy how round these Nitto's are 👍

Really happy to see Mel has a ecodiesel in his possession I'm guessing that means evo is going to make a diesel specific suspension which is great since a lot of others don't seem to be doing it.id be really excited to see how that spins the 42s

Already have a 2021 eco diesel rubicon with evo adjustable 3-5.5 in coil overs. Runs awesome

It’s crazy shit to see such a large tire on a vehicle and it not even look too big looks amazing you could probably even grow bigger 👀
It is crazy. Looks are one thing and reality is another though. We have had to do a lot of trimming to make this work and we still have rubbing at a full flex.

LOL - with the exception of them being installed on a Gladiator, I think they a bit too big. I don't think I'll be installing a set on my JL or JK.

This is our first obstacle on the trail. It's called Mt. Everest. Watch as our increased ground clearance make this obstacle really easy.

that's the rock crawler wheels, beadlock. imagine you deflate it to like 17 psi, depending the weight of your vehicle if the air is low, it can leak out those side and thats the beauty of beadlock, I wanna see that crawling in Moab rocks or take it to Sedona
Actually, you'd be surprised at how low you can run a tire without beadlocks and without any issues. The key is not to drive too hard and fast in those situations. With beadlocks, you can run essentially zero and I have... not by choice of course LOL

These were pre-production tires and so they didn't have any. He likes the ecodiesel. I do too but I don't think I could get rid of what I have now for one. LOL
