- Brought the old CR250 back to life after years of punishment. Went thru the whole bike freshening it up and toped it off with the 1997 1998 1999 tx race kit and skda graphics just in time to hit a sick new indoor track in ohio #SKDA #CR250R #moto

I got a 1997 CR250 also and I’m trying to figure out where to get newer looking plastics go fit it, where did you get these from?

Yeah its a lot thinner and harder. Kinda sucks really lol had to start wearing padded bicycle shorts.

I just asked SKDA to send a 10x10 sheet of black tank graphic with the kit. They thru it in no charge. They also let me customize their design how i liked. Great place to deal with

Thanks! It's holding up a lot better than expected. Have ridden many hours and have even crashed a few times. Still looking good.
This is killer! I have a 97 and recently have been thinking about selling just to get something newer, I love the engine, but have always hated the looks, and figured why keep putting money into a bike that I don't know if I really want, I think this is the answer. Time to start pulling mine apart and ordering parts! Did you by chance swap any suspension? Mine is shot and I'd rather just swap out for something better
Thanks!! Its really a night and day difference! I always hated the looks of this gen cr too but the engine is imo the best 250. Been thrashing it for over a decade now and just had to put a crank in it last year.. I was gonna try to get a newer frame and get the kit they make to put my engine in it but then they finally made a restyle kit for it and i love it! I did put some 02 forks on it which helped a lot but the back is still stock. Not too bad but i do need to send them out to be redone. Next on the list
@@32to1 Yep! That's the exact thing I've been looking at doing too. Been waiting to get that kit for the 21+ frames that BVC makes, but finding a rolling chassis for that new of a bike is a harder and more expensive route. I've found some in my area but all a bit too expensive for my taste. But I agree, definitely my favorite 250 motor I've ridden and I've owned a LOT, I almost feel bad for how often I buy and sell bikes. But this 97 has been my main ride for probably close to 4 years now. I ride woods, a lot of single track, I know that it isn't the best bike for the job but it puts a smile on my face every time. Always wanted to get on a mx track, but never even been on one before and don't want to look like an idiot haha. Have fun with the fresh bike! Maybe I'll post up a video when I get mine redone too
@@Andy_d_86 Shoot i didnt start riding track until i was 30. 36 now. Most tracks will split you up into classes so you wont be the only one out there learning.. I rode woods my while life until my nephew started racing which got me to the track a lot

So when looking for graphics, does the latest gen crf450 graphics fit on these plastics? I'm looking at getting a 97 cr250 soon and was thinking of getting the same restyle kit but with different graphics
Yup the newest gen graphics fit. Just have to trim them a little on the side number plates where they modified the plastic. Really not much. Just nip the bottom corners
@32:1 awesome thanks🤙the one I'm buying is super clean but a Ronnie Mac replica currently, but I've been considering getting the newer plastics and doing a mcgrath 96 replica build (even tho he never raced honda that year). It's got gold rims too so it would be a beaut lol. Thanks for the help man

That’s rad just stumbled across this company and your video. My brother past away racing in 99 and cr 99 was his last bike so it’s special to me and I want keep it up and nice but crazy how updated it looks 2000 and up is nice haha. The price is crazy high 370$. One the brackets are on could you just keep replacing the plastics with Acerbis/pollisport ect? Anything you dislike about the kit especially related to this year of bike? Thanks.
I've been riding this old 99 for 12 years now. Absolutely love this bike but always disliked the looks. The kit was kinda pricey and I was worried about how it would hold up. I've been riding it quite a bit since I've done it and it's held up great. Even wrecked it a couple times. I think it's totally worth it. Only thing I don't like is the seat. It is really hard and square. I had to go buy those padded bicycle shorts. Now I can ride it all day no problem. Only real modifications done to the plastics are the side number plates were trimmed a little to fit the frame. Shouldn't be a problem to trim a polisport kit to fit. They do offer replacement parts after you buy the kit also but not sure the price difference. You could message them and ask before you buy it.
The rear fender is trimmed up too but I'm sure it could be matched

It was a little pricey at $450
