@@mariowoodsN5 I'm thinking about doing the same thing with a 125... If you spend a little time on the web you can find some big gas tanks to fit ... I'm finding out that the same tank for a 125 fits a 250 frame and vice versa....And the parts are cheap.... I see a brand new set of wheels front and rear for 400 bucks.... A complete engine overhaul kit crankshaft cylinder everything around $1000 ... Came with special cast Piston.. with a coating on it and 18% silicone ... Uses OEM rings and vice versa..... I use one of those Baja designs lighting kits on my XR one time and had a license plate on it that's what I want to do to a 125 CR you got to do this one that way too but plates on it and lights ..... Not that I plan on riding on the street that often but it sure is Handy to have when you're putting down some trails and you come out on a country road somewhere and you want to know where it goes and you got a big gas tank you can go a long ways and you don't have to worry about getting pulled over and give it a ticket for not having a plate..... Or like a lot of times when you go to places like Shawnee national Forest in Illinois or Wayne national Forest in Ohio there's a little towns out there in that Forest area where you can get McDonald's once in awhile or quick hamburger here and there makes it pretty nice they got plates on it lights
That's good that you guys are showing that the wear points are tight as new .. that has a lot to do with safety on what this thing's going to do 1st time a customer buzzes it all out .. you don't want it to do no weird handling speed wobbles and crap.... You buy something like a used motocross bike at a franchised dealership .. chances are it's been washed off once and put away wet and nothing else will be done to it... I worked at several dealerships over the years I spent wrenching on bikes..and is all you got time to do is keep on top of all the brand new bikes and get them serviced and then doing the thousand Mile checkups on them and all that nobody ever spends any time blueprinting an old dirt bike like you guys do... And and it shouldn't be no surprise that these things will handle just as good as a brand new one cuz suspension peaked out in the 80s you can't give it any more travel and still be able to pass the rules. ... I'm just so glad to see it finally a business like you guys have got where you got the time apparently to give it everything they need and still be able to sell them and make a profit enough to at least keep the lights on and keep buying more of them.... Here's to y'all may it always be

I hate seeing fresh 98s pop up and I'm strapped. 💔💔💔 I want this bike so bad. I've gotta few of my dad's old motocross jerseys but to have the actual model he loved and cherished is still a dream I'll forever chase. Fighting tears watching this seeing that bike brings back alot of memories. SOUNDS just as mean as it did when I was a kid. WHEN THE TIME COMES to find a 98 I'm coming to New England and seeing the Kaplan Family.

I Russell Leeworthy in California have a 1998cr. I'm 59 and has never ridden a bikes as much fun as this one. I ride hard and fast in all conditions. And why do have to live so far away living my dream life? 😕
I had a '99 CR250 in 2008. It's a powerhouse! That's why I enjoy watching Ronnie Mac ride. I always wished I could ride the bike like that, as it was intended to be ridden. I tried but could never ride the bike at its top full potential. I had the most fun in the sand dunes where I could pin it all day. Tracks were fun too, but I mostly trail rode it on goat trails because that's all we have and are lucky to have a place to ride mx bikes at all.

Great bikes , not a fan of the whiskey throttle in neutral though , also seems they have not learned how to shift gears without the clutch. When we raced the clutch was only used when starting. You can hear the clutch slip on every shift when these guys ride

Funnest bike to ride IMO. I don’t think there’s much difference from my 97. I do ride a 17 450rx cause the electric start. A lot of fun to, but the cr 250 is a blast to play on.

How does this compare to a 2006 yz250? Is the cr a better motor and more faster?
I've ridden a 98 cr and a 2014 or so yz250. The yz makes more power on paper but the 98 delivers it like the Tasmanian devil. Think of it like this. The yzs gonna do everything you want it to. Refined motor, frame, etc. The cr is raw 90s power. Definitely more fun and feels faster
