I spent 6k Canadian on my 01 restorations and was able to have the motor ported, cases trenched, and head chambered by one of the top guys. New PWK air striker carb with stic metering block. Replaced every bearing on the bike and every consumable. billet crankshaft, cryo-treated and super-finished transmission, Gold valves, and new springs in forks and shock. At the end of the day like 3.5k was upgrades rest was just rebuild resto stuff. If I was to do anything else I'd get wheels but after that how do you blow another 14k? everything else is just unnecessary.

A realistic number for a barn find is 800-1500. The problem is that you can only really race it in a vintage class. Otherwise, you are going to get schooled by a Yamaha. I have an 01 I recently went through and I'm curious if you've ever experienced the clutch actuator arm hitting the inside of the stator cover and if so, what you did to fix it. All I did with the clutch was replace the plates.

    • @jacobvanhalteren7452
      @jacobvanhalteren7452 Год назад

      @@darrenhill3514 What brand of clutch? Certain cheaper clutches use all steel plates where the stock has only 2 steel rest are aluminum. The steel plates are thicker and require a 2nd washer to be added to the thrust bearing on the lifter shaft by the pressure plate. I originally changed the washer to a cheap washer that was 2x the size but when I rebuilt the motor I ordered another thrust bearing and another thrust washer and now run 2 thrust washers on the one side to correct the lifter arm location. Otherwise, the clutch lifter arm hits the cover and you get no clutch actuation.
      Even Hinson uses thicker steel plates and comes with a second thrust washer with instructions to add it to the lifter shaft.
      You can see just from the go pro that the forks are Kashima coated and the caps mean 05+ forks. Which on a 94 means triples from a newer bike or billet triples.

    • @motoxguy7
      @motoxguy7 Год назад
