Mate the fact you could get that 500 on the pipe at all is amazing let alone in those conditions! Most of us would be sitting inside complaining about the weather 😩
The fact you did this test in those cold icy conditions. You deserve major props. I really hope you do this again in better conditions. That CR500 would smoke them all. In my opinion.
At 42 years old, I can't even think about riding in 30 degree weather. But I certainly remember it. Heck I can remember my dad plowing snow off the track so we could ride.
Carson should post more "long form" content man, great to see you ripping on reels, tiktok, and here but I want to more video of what you're doing behind the scenes, prepping for supercross, and whatever else your working on. I think you're one of the gnarlyest dudes that still ride 2 stokes at the pro level so keep up the good work
This is pretty funny i got my first bike in 1978 good to see my riding gear is still popular...hermans survivors an flannel shirt an a bell moto 2 R J model....JT gloves..levis blue jeans
Man, you are a bad dude to ride in this kind of conditions and than go that fast.💪 I probably would stay on the couch and rub my belly. 😅 Best regards from germany. ✌
when it cold and the 2 strokes are hard to start lay it down and let gas run out the overflow for 3.or 4 seconds and with the chock on it should start right up.
Would you mind explaining that starting routine a little more in depth. I ride a 1996 CR500 normally just above zero degrees out here. I use a heat gun in the garage but sometimes stop on the trails for a bit with the guys and the bike cools down. Thanks
@@MauriceWiltshire just lay the bike over on its side with the gas on, the gas will run out the over flow on the carburetor. let it run out for about 5 seconds. pick it up and crank as normal with the choke on. it helps get gas into the cylinder when it's cold or right after a total rebuild.
I like the layer of ice removal ZZ Top sweep mtv style.....smooth...yeah the CR 500 is a beast an a handfull in any condition...its cold A frozen ground very cold u went by a piece of ground and left no marks A its frozen for sure if the CR 500 didnt leave a mark....
Man, I couldn't imagine living in a place that gets cold like that. I've literally been late for work because I have to deal with the 45° temp sometimes early in the morning before it warms up around 10am in winter time. I've always wondered how people survive in places like that because I wouldn't make it.
Wow that was impressive! Might want to try some screw in studs if the cold keeps coming :)? And what kind of tires do you like the best in conditions like that or does it even make a difference?
Do you think a modern, lets say, KTM 250sfx would beat that Yamaha YZ 250 2 stroke? I have been away from motocross since 2004 and thinking about going back, not sure what to buy as a semi beginner.
I’m pretty sure being on the old steel frame made it a much better bike in those conditions. Aluminum frames and old 500 motors don’t really match together. It vibrates way too much and too rigid.
Hey Carson please upload more RUclips videos like this! Love watching you rip.
I totally agree. He posts a lot to Instagram, but I think we need more RUclips videos.

Dude I dominated Florida in the 80 s kx and cr...500s. These new bikes are way better...big business selling and building the old ones

Unfortunately, no.
Carson Brown is my favorite rider of this era, nobody comes close, your the man Carson
I can’t even fathom riding in those winter conditions, let alone, shredding it!! My hats off to you bro!!
And that's why he's a pro kiddies...
At 42 years old, I can't even think about riding in 30 degree weather. But I certainly remember it. Heck I can remember my dad plowing snow off the track so we could ride.

Agreed.. That's what draws me into his content.. Dude literally rides any bike any brand and any size lol..
I always loved the last year steel cr 250, easy to use power. Awesome riding dude
Great video dude. Riding in those conditions is hard enough but to try and push bikes for fast lap times is even harder. Keep rippin dude.👍
Awesome to see you back posting some content on youtube bro! Was getting lonely making the only bbr content on here!
Thanks for making these videos. I am hoping you get on a factory team one day. Looking forward to this same shootout in August.
Hell yeah cb910 your the man and always a treat to watch you shred. Keep up the great videos.
Great video. Glad to see someone ride the 500 like that, not many people can ride it to it's potential.
Love the 96 cr they rip.✊️✊️✊️
Awesome video! Can’t wait to see the comparison again in dry conditions.
This is what the MX needs. A race in the snow.
A snow race would be sick
I drive by there occasionally, always wondered who rides there! That 96' CR looks like fun.
Those CRs are just heaven, specially that 96 250
Awesome comparison! Well done, makes me want another 2T!
I have a restored 1995 CR250 that I love to ride.
The guy beats those bikes like step-kids! Not afraid to get some, that's for sure!
Carson great job at the 2 stroke win at glen Helen was there cheering for you keep it up
This is some serious balls riding a 500 in those conditions !!
Cool vid thanks for sharing. For the record, just the thought of riding in those conditions makes my back and hands hurt!!!
so awesome!! Great stuff Carson!!
Need to redo this one in good conditions. It’s a great video idea and would love to see how it would shake out.
Yeah, falling on a track like that is like falling on a cheese grater. Need to see this on a summer day.
Bro you’re such a savage. Hoping to see you on a team for supie this year man you gonna do any races??
Wondering the same thing? He’s too fast an gnarly to not get at least a good privateer ride.. I don’t get it? Or does he not want to race?
Try a moose heavyweight flywheel your CR-500 ,installed one on my old 87 CR-500 and it gave it more tractable power
Nice video.
Back in the day I enjoyed riding my dirt bikes in the snow, too.
Looked like a fun time.

@@randytidwell5836 Thanks a lot man I have quite the bruised feet a few times I've got to learn to keep riding with boots instead of Chuck Taylors.

Thanks for risking your life so I have something to watch while on lunch breaks at work. I’m curious how ice spike tires would work on the 500? 🤔
