I also noticed a detail. As Dooku said goodbye to qui gin and him and yaddle walked in different directions, yaddle walked into the light, while Dooku walked into the darkness
When i watched it for the first time I thought the exact same thing
Yeah I noticed that too.
I saw that too!
That was soooo noticeable
yadle should have forced fell the other way and not back inside.
It also symbolizes Sidious’s disdain for any “light” whereas Dooku gets one final glimmer of it before the blast door shuts and with it any chance he may have had at redemption.
bro you are so right i dint realize that also have you seen that episode in the clone wars where ahsoka is with the martez sisters and anakin and ahsoka connect through the force and anakin turns to the light and when ahsoka leaves he turns from the light basiclly the same
@@Ace-of-Aces-99 Same with kenobi and his last meeting with Anakin befor there first fight.
@@flyingaviator8158 your right i forgot about that too
The detail I noticed that I thought you were going to mention was how Sidious' eyes were blue until Dooku succumbed to the dark side. From that point on Sidious' eyes were yellow
tales of the jedi was amazing. Dave Filoni is a mastermind
I bet money he is gonna make the prequels good and before you say it would take more them a miracle to do that… Go watch the clone wars!
@@thejurassicking3817 What
@@thejurassicking3817 lmao
ok
Dave filoni is overrated and he stole tom veich book title
I thought it represented that Sidious was corrupted purely of darkness but Dooku still had some light in him.
Dooku was not purely evil.
@@SoranoGuardias I didn't say he was?
I like the detail that they made a younger model for Sidious. He doesn't have as many wrinkles and looks much younger overall, which makes sense :)
Well kinda, this is taking place during the phantom menace so he should look like what he looked like in that movie
@@thenaruto2796 I know but in the Clone Wars palpatine always looked to me like he was already in his grave almost, even in the early stages of the war and he wasn't that old looking in EP.2 either.
But that's not even his real face.🤨
The only negative I can say about Tales of the Jedi is I wish it was longer. Also, if the whole show had just only focussed on Dooku that would have been amazing
Sometimes less is more and this is a case where we have quality over quantity
the first ahsoka episode was a bit off but the other two were fantastic
No.... it was short, to the point.... if it was longer it would have been "filler". There are not that many points to drive a story or define a character. You as a person get defined by very specific moments. The rest is filler.
It should have been longer, there should have been more short stories. This isn’t Dave filonis fault tho this is Disneys fault almost all of their original Disney+ shows are 6 episodes they do this so they can spam us with tons and tons of shows, half of those shows are misses tho
@@thenaruto2796 this was just a side project, he’s working on ahsoka rn and more im sure. he can only do so much and i bet there’ll be a season 2 with different Jedi (Plo hopefully)
I caught that detail no sweat. Seeing Sheeve just go "Oh shit" because of just how close his whole set up came to completely going down the drain was just priceless
The series is the best since return of the Jedi, clones war and rebel. Good job Dave Filoni. I love everything you produce Dave
I’ve never appreciated a spoiler warning more in my life. Had no clue _Tales_ was out, hadn’t watched.
Thank you.
You, sir, are gentleman and a scholar.
no
@@nightwatcher1164 fuck you mean no lol
Notice that Yaddle's strength gave way when Sidious finally stopped hiding his face and looked at her. She either realised who it was and gave up or he force drained her. he smirked at that moment as well.
This episode is just more proof that Filoni should have handled the sequels.
I also noticed that the door letting in the bright light was the shape of a smile. I also think the light of the sun combined with Yaddles light overcame and blinded Siduois momentarily. Nice touch tho I still have problems with some of the show.
If ya'll have time, please check out the ORIGINAL AUTHOR of the Tales of the Jedi Comics, TOM VEITCH, who passed away this year. It was sad that not even an "In memory of" appeared in any of the episodes' credits
Are those comics connected to this though? Dave Filoni said he wrote this on a plane ride.
I thought he was blinded too but no, as the person here just said, it’s because he was hiding his face.
Dooku clearly wasn’t blinded either.
I wanted to see Master Syfo Dias in an episode. He has an amazing backstory and very notable character
I think that episode should have ended with Dooku kneeling before Sidious and Sidious saying “You have taken your last step to the Dark Side. Henceforth you shall be known as Darth Tyrannus. Rise.”
I was thinking the same exact thing
He was already a sith lord at that point I think. He had already killed Syfo Dyas, created the clones and covered it up. And I'm p sure sidious calls him apprentice before he kills her
Oh yeah more kneeling
@@cloudmaster182 Dooku was only a conspirator going by the name Tyrannus. He didn't become an actual Sith Lord until this moment, because Maul was still alive until this episode and Palpatine, in canon, strictly adhered to the Rule of Two.
@@thewarner2139 Tyrannus was his Darth title. He was Darth Tyrannus. "Sidious canonically adhered to the Rule of 2" he had Dooku, knowing Dooku had Ventress. He had Inquisitors. He trained Maul as an assassin, not his true apprentice. Maybe that changed when he brought Dooku into the fold, but if he was known as Tyrannus already, that's his Sith name, so he was already as much a Sith as Maul at this point, if not moreso given his actual involvement in the Grand Plan
They were both just tools thi. Sidious canonically didn't give a shit abt the Rule of 2
such a good show, so we’ll done, i was crying through the whole thing as a big star wars fan
yaddle opened the door to let dooku see the light for the last time and palp covering his face showed how he’s already in the dark
Her struggle to keep the door open is a great symbolism of her struggle to bring Dooku back to the light. Sadly she failed to keep the doors open therefore everything went back into darkness along with Dooku.
I saw it as a vampire homage or something, hiding from the light. But this also makes perfect sense.
I thought he was hiding it because he was afraid of the light since you know... he's a sith lord
i initially thought this as well. but I him being afraid to be identified makes more sense.
but i do think it's symbolism. he is afraid of the light that yaddle emits.
because all sith are afraid of one thing "hope"
and yaddle last ditch attempts to lift the door is of course the hope light will prevail!
The symbolism is definitely there. Dooku looks into the light because he his still on the fence of whether or not he will remain a jedi or become a sith.
Me too I was so confused 😂
These 6 episodes was breathtaking. I hope this isn't just a one off.
Ashley E said if fans respond well to this there is more to come. I hope so!
I didnt catch that at all, i was a little confused like “alright palps the light isnt THAT bright” lol. Amazing series
I hadn’t thought about that scene that way. I just liked how Sidious recoiled from the light almost like recoiling from the light side giving Dooku one last chance to turn away from the dark side.
This scene is so unbelievably well done absolute masterpiece I got chills and goodsenumps everywhere, it is so haunting we can see what Dooku and palpatine are feeling without a single word said, and palpatines Sith eye lighting up and him smiling knowing dooku is too far gone now and one step closer to his grand plan
Sidious with his Sith eyes and his wicked smirk as the thumbnail
Happy Halloween everybody! 😈👍👍
I noticed it, just never thought that he was trying to hide his face. Instead, it always reminded me of when your mom opens the curtains in the living room and you're suddenly blinded. I find it funny that my mind immediately went to memeing about what he was doing instead of thinking about why he might actually be doing it
This series and Andor are the gifts that keep on giving !
Very good detail for sure. It also looked like, to me at least, Yaddle seemed to recognize who Sidious was, before she collapses, and is killed by Dooku
I just thought that it was really bright outside and sideous’s eyes were adjusted to the the dark.
This video gave me a good idea for a what-if scenario:
What if Yaddle escaped?
Get on it, Star Wars Theory. Or Generation Tech. Or WhatIfAiden. Or whoever else makes these fanfics.
She would still get knocked up by Yoda and have Grogu obviously
Noticed it, at first i was like "wtf you ain't a vampire!" and then thought about that. But dang they did Yaddle dirty....
Yes I noticed it as well. I look forward to more episodes. So good
I also think when Yaddle is holding the door open and it makes a smile with small sharp teeth. Like it's the darkness smiling bc once she can't hold it any longer she falls and is killed by Dooku.
I thought he hides himself from the light (side). Because he is the imbodiement of the dark side, always standing in shadow in the episode
I did notice that he was holding his hands in front of his face I just was like “that the heck is wrong with his face?”
It just confused me till now.
Someone should do a what if on Yaddle escaping Dooku and Sidious
My favorite detail was the door that looked like a mouth, thus representing Dooku being consumed by the dark side.
I didn’t notice. Great video and there’s been some excellent comments here too. I truly love this community
Yaddle surviving this would make a good "What if"
Dooku’s Jedi lightsaber: is that the one he built as a Padawan?
Not me thinking the light was just hitting his eyes 😅
I noticed him shading his eyes. But, I thought that was because he was actually cowering from a physical manifestation of the light side of the force. While he was trying to stay cloaked in darkness.
In legend, yaddle consumes a bio weapon that would kill an entire planet but instead, she sacrifices herself by absorbing it with the force. I always wonder why the Jedi don’t actually realize Darth sidious is palpatine I mean you can see his nose and chin which is very distinctive if i were a Jedi I would have put 2 and 2 together rather quickly.
I did notice sidious cowering to hide himself. If was obvious to me because I was watching him the closest. He’s the most interesting character there.
I thought the same thing except I thought she got a look at his face and with the shock lost her focus and dropped the door. That was my take on it.
I always knew Palpatine was no SITH ... he was a VAMPIRE!!
I like to imagine Palpatine’s look of horror when Anakin was crash landing the separatist flagship in the beginning of RoTS was genuine. He was probably thinking about how his carefully laid plan was about to go up in smoke
Yess. Hopefully a tales of the sith comes out next year. Or a TOTJ S2
I didn't catch this one because I too fixated on how his eyes switched from blue to yellow when Dooku started fighting Yaddle. That goddamn sadist was enjoying that sh*t.
We need more of this
I saw he was hiding his face, but if he was that worried Yaddle would escape, why didn't he zappity-zap-zap her with force lightning ⚡? 😄
This was the greatest thing to have ever come out in a while. The second episode was great pinpointing on topics that stand out in the world.
I just assumed it was because they were in a dark room, Palpatine's eyes had adjusted, and then AHH, BRIGHT LIGHT. I figured it was a comedy bit.
I also gleamed some symbolism in Sidious's body language in that moment, as it looked as though the sunlight shining in through the open door was physically hurting his eyes. It's a common trope of vampires and demons in fiction. While I doubt Palpatine was actually in any way hurt by the sunlight itself (we've seen Palpatine walk around in broad daylight all the time without issue), it could be taken as a metaphor for the "light side" being painfully blinding to him, since's he's been deep into the Dark Side for most of his life.
I thought this otherwise. Yes what you say logicaly correct. But symbolicly. Palpatine hides from light. Darkness out when there is light.
I just thought Sith eyes are more wide open and more sensitive to light. If he was afraid of Yaddle escaping why not just simply electrify her, or screem jump at her with a lightsaber?
Ahhh this is actually very nice and i didn’t notice it watching!
I think it might be to hide his face, but I also think it could be a reference to his being strong in the dark side, and scared of the light literally represented by him using his robe to keep him concealed in the dark as the light creeps in
Sidious also called dooku "my friend" just like with vader.
Or..... Maybe because Palpatine's eyes couldn't adjust to the light from outside fast enough. Its like walking out of a movie theater on a sunny day
Sidious could not withstand the light from that blaster door smiling
I honestly don't see any shock and terror myself, or at least not as much as this video implies ...a lot. Now, I do of course believe that he was trying to hide his face and wasn't sure how much of it he had to do when the light hit him, but in the end the dramatic hand-up-stuff was done mostly imho to put pressure on the whole light vs dark (with sunlight seemingly banishing the darkness, but only for a moment).
Its nice seeing things set before episode 1 wish we actual would get things like that or after the skywalker saga. It seems they like telling stories that happened in between rather focusing on new things.
I saw this but at the time I thought it was a silly thing to make him seem kind of like a vampire. Didn't put much thought into it, but it does make sense that he'd be concerned about his identity being exposed.
Psalms 32:10
10 Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord's unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.
I think its more symbolic of the light creeping back in before being squelched again. Sidious does not like the light of day because everything he does is in the shadows, employing lies and manipulation.
How does a Jedi Master die and disappear on Courasant. Especially one on the High Council? No flight plans tracked, droid witness, Padawan. Absolutely nothing?
I get it now, I was more tripping out that Dooku's (Darth Tyrannus) Sith Crystal is Yaddle's crystal
Yup, the door also looks like an evil mouth with pointy teeth
Did no one notice the symbolism of Yadal lifting up the Jaws of the Darkside? The door she lifts up is an evil smile with teeth. At 0:29 and 0:55
I believe in legends Yaddle has access to a rare force power called Force light which weakens a darksiders connection to the force. After seeing this at first I thought maybe that was why Sidious recoiled so much because as someone so purely in the dark side he would be affected whereas Dooku was still treading the edge between the light and dark so he is unaffected. But it is Dooku's expression in this scene that interest me the most. As while the door remains raised and the light is allowed in the light in Dooku also seems to remain. I was a fantastic episode.
I think Sidious is Chancellor by this point as he’s Chancellor by the funeral of Qui-Gon. Love the videos though.
Caught it. Loved it.
I also liked that we saw more of Palpatine's face as Sideous since normally we'd only see the mouth.
Palpatine's reaction is akin to that of a Vampire when being exposed to sunlight...Intrigue but a bit funny if you look at it.
A detail that I liked a lot is when Count Dooku left Coruscant to meet his new master we saw a copy of the scene in revenge of the sith that showed anakin leave jedi temple to prevent windu by killing Palpatine
I was like to Yaddle don’t show yourself tell the Jedi Council where Sidious and Dooku are hiding!
The other interesting part was that Palpatine's eye color was normal looking for most of the episode until the end. Its subtle storytelling here.
Another detail: Palpatine's eyes are their usual blue until after Yaddle is killed, where they turn to their more recognizable Sith red-yellow.
Very good point.
Alright we need a star wars What If.
What if Yaddle wisely ran back to the Jedi temple/communicated to someone about what was happening instead of going in alone.
That evil smile the door makes looks like the same smile of Sidious
Wouldn't it have made more sense from Yaddle's perspective to run away and warn others?......Or warn others of her suspicions before going?.....Or, not going and warn others of her suspicions? Or worst case scenario, not to warn others and not to go?
I'd have to go back and watch, but I could swear I thought I saw a glint of yellow and dooku's eyes which then after that scene. Dooku as a Sith Lord without yellow eyes must have a deeper meaning.
There is one other thing here. In original canon, Yaddle died during a bomb explosion saving a bunch of people, so I had a hard time with this vignette...
We’re king plagues at
I don't remember Palpatine offering Luke friendship he seemed more to torment him.
Filoni has once again made the choice to throw away pre-established canon, written into books and comics, out the window in lieu of his own narrative. Because it was not Dooku who killed Yaddle. Yaddle sacrificed herself to save others
Yaddle's death and Dooku's motives and break with the Jedis were conveyed much better in Legends.
But it's Legends, whereas here, we see what happened in the mind of the Real authors.
yaddle acts like a true jedi whilling to change and stand up for what whats right. She liftsa the door in the air to the force theme as she symbolically causes the vampiric beast that is sideous to feel discomfort and retreat into the shadows.
I'm not sure if I'm just colorblind, but I througt saw Sidious's eyes turn from sith to blue for a moment before the Dooku vs Yaddle duel
Galatians 5:25
25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
It was pretty hard to miss that.
...NNNNNNOOOOOOO
Nah man, the time Sidious was covering himself he should have just went zappy zappy.
The Sith Lord might be one of the best pieces of Star Wars lore ever made. But I think everyone knows that. I will disagree with this video's conclusion, though. Palpatine is not hiding his face because he is afraid of Yaddle recognizing him. He does it because of the light. You can tell because he does it twice, and then once his eyes adjust, he looks directly at Yaddle with no regard for whether she can see him (the hood blocks his face either way; he's no more or less disguised in front of her than he is in all of his Clone Wars and prequel appearances as Sidious). This happens at 13:32 of the Disney Plus episode. This video is a cool theory, but I don't think it's what is intended.
We need a Star Wars what if series!
i also did notice his eyes before the fight started were like a blueish color and then they changed after the fight started to be yellow
Great to feel Star Wars again. Andor I am struggling and annoyed at its lack of Star Wars aliens.
Love the work keep it up!!!!
I was so shocked when i saw this
Palpatine scared
