Cod at the red shed • Catching cod in sub Ar...
My apologies to viewers and subscribers for not releasing the location of this video. This is to limit the impact on the local area!
Nice fish Billy , I’ve not fished for over 30 years but just retired and going back into it 👍🏻 the tackles moved on a lot , many thanks watching from Galicia
Hi Mike, welcome back! If you need any help with deciding on new tackle just ask! Glad you liked it, thanks Brother 😁👌
Brilliant video again Billy,I remember starting out with a penn sea boy reel and a solid glass beach rod 😆.. Traces made by ourselves just loops and tie your hook length..Caught many a Kent Cod back the late 60s..Thanks for the memory lane..
Yep! That sounds like the way I started too. Almost exactly, not that many cod. What's sea bass instead. Thanks Brother 😁👌
Billy and my morning coffee..perfect, yeh fish dont know as my buddy and me always say about your gear set up. sharp hook and bait done !
That's it exactly! Most of the time the basic stuff will get it done. Thanks Brother, glad you liked it 😁👌
Well done wet Billy 😂 you cant complain at those two chunkies so a nice evening was had. Take care brother 😊
Thanks Adrian, no complaints here! All apart from the weather, that is 🤣
The best back to basics video I`ve seen. You have really hit the nail on the head of how we waste money and time on unnecessary gear.
Thanks Gordon, I'm glad you appreciated it! Tight lines Brother 😁👌
All Hail the old school!! Nice pair of fish, well done Billy 👏
Thanks Dooza. Much appreciated 😁👌
Excellent result there Billy,, that's tea sorted for a few nights 🎣🎣👍👍
Yes it is Anthony, thanks Brother 😁👌
Can't grumble at that result - respect for showing folks how to do it without spending fortunes. I hope you next sessions are in better weather !
Me too brother, but it better rain will never stop me fishing! Thanks bud 😁👌
Great old school back to basics video great result cracking pair of cod. Goes to show you dont need expensive gear to catch fish anywhere in the world, keep the vids coming billy
Gary! I think you could have caught those fish with a hand line, they were in so close! Thanks Brother, glad you liked it 😁👌
Good on you Billy for sticking it out 🦈🎣💪
Thanks Brother 😁👌
You just can’t beat a last cast fish Billy 🤩 especially when it’s as big as that 👍
No you cannot😅 thanks sister 😁👌
Early 90s as a young teen , I’d dig my own worm , ride a bike to the spots . Had the same set up , Abu 65 and a Daiwa mooraker. Best times . Caught some bloody decent cod back then too
I still have a moonraker! I was saving it for my kids, but they're not really into fishing. Maybe I'll sell it back to Jim Karrey, as a novelty 🤣 thanks Brother 😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch I still have an awt , it’s still a beast
Me too. Great rod. And a Seastreak !
Yes brother , brilliant and simple (suits me!)😂 , appreciated as always 🤘🏼🤘🏼🎣
Of course it does! 🤣 Thanks Paul 😁👌
bad weather. great video. thanks for sharing Billy 🔥🎣🐺
Thanks Brother, glad you liked it 😁👌
Not too shabby at all Billy in Norway 👊🏼👏🏼
Thanks Brother 😁👌
😀 Great video Billy as usual. My gear isn't the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive either. Plenty of top tips and two nice fish, well done you. Looking forward to the next instalment.
I have some high-end tackle. But I don't use it as much as the middle of the road stuff. And I picked it up second hand too. It has its place, but it's not for everyday fishing. Thanks Graham 😁👌
Well done Billy. Top fishing as always 🎣🐟
Thanks Steve, glad you liked it Brother 😁👌
nice one billy boy cracking little session mate, very informative as always, yes sometimes basic is all you need,👊💪🎣
Thank you Brother, it doesn't always need to be complicated! And this video proves it. Glad you liked it bud😁👌
In the late 70s and into 80s I had a paper round to be able to buy my gear in Wallasey in the river Mersey across the the Liverpool ferry dock. All my gear was Abu or Garcia Mitchell. The abu beach caster in those days was the mighty Abu Atlantic zoom 484 it was awesome ! 12 ft of power, yep Abu 6500 and 7000, a bait fork for lug and rag , a Tilly lamp and wellies life was great! Love your videos thanks a lot.
Nice, sounds like good times 😁👌
Night bite cod. That is awesome 💯🐟😋
Thanks misfit, glad you liked it brother 😄👌
Great advice , great fishing😊
Thanks Eimear 😁👌
Hail from DK brother!Respect!
Thanks Brother, much appreciated 😁👌
Great video 👏👏💪💪💪
Thanks Gerard, how's the fishing going in the Kingdom? 😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch weather seems against me when I go out,,, painted and triggers around in abundance
@@briainhennessy8656 nice, tight lines 👌
This video finally put me off fishing in Norway.
The existence of hagfish from the shore is too terrifying to cotemplate.
They're not bad as you think! Their slime is not even sticky! It just looks awful. It doesn't stick to your fingers or anything else. It doesn't smell. hag fish are not dangerous! So don't worry brother, come to Norway. And have a blast 😁👌
Cracking fish Billy. Old School, is the best school. Tight lines my chum. 🤙
Thanks Brother, much appreciated 😁👌
Love the basic stuff. Good catches Billy. Thanks!
Thanks Leon! Much appreciated Brother 😁👌
Back at it with an all time classic Bill. Love it mate, and as ever thanks for taking the time and effort to make it. Still waiting for a bad video haha .. all hail!
You will be waiting a long time, Tommos! Glad you lied it brother😁👌
Just back from Northern Spain, didn´t get a line wet 😞 Too much time spent in the mountains 😞 Now looking forward to getting out for some autumn bass in the esturies and inlets! Great video as always Billy!!!
Why are you up in the mountains! When you're supposed to be fishing, there's no fish up there! 🤣 Tight lines Brother 😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch Plenty of trout up there 🙂
enjoy your videos billy ,for your grip leads just get some elastic bands in your tackle box and wrap them round your grips it stops them opening to easy
It's an old trick and I use it often. What I was referring to in the video is! Plastic grip wires, from a streamer. They hold just enough and bend when you need them to. Thanks Brother 😁👌
Another great video. Lol I love the "All Hail"
Thanks Brother, all hail the subs 😁👌
Great stuff Billy love it👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Ciaran, glad you liked it! Is amazing what you can do over here with one rod and a couple of fish 😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch I'm jealous 😅😅
You make it look so easy Billy !!!! 😂2 ten pounders no problemo !! man I'm so jealous
What can I say! I've got 99 problems, but fish ain't one! 🤣 Thanks Brother 😁👌
Another quality video. Great viewing as always. 11lb cod is a dream for me and you're bagging up haha. As always look forward to the next installment. Im out on a uk east coast pier tomorrow. Dug my worm this morning at low tide. Hopefully my effort will end in a reward.
I'm sure they will brother! There is nothing like sourcing your own bait! And catching some great fish. Thanks brother, glad you liked it 😁👌
Good effort billy 🎣
Thanks brother, much appreciated 😁👌
Keep the videos coming👌
Great video again billy, them hag fish are a real nightmare, couple of nice cods for you there though,,one time i bought them red prawns from the shop and they fished mega 🤣🤣👍
There's not much you can't catch and those red prawns, I've had plaice, cod, haddock! You name it. Thanks Brother 😁👌
You always make it look so easy Billy, that was two beautiful cod. I remember when you had a chance of catching cod like that where I live in East Anglia, sadly no more. I used to have a pair of ABU 464s in 1973. Is that the sort of time you were talking about? Great video in trying conditions, thanks brother 🐟🇳🇴
Thanks Chris! Apart from the weather, it was pretty easy! It seems like you had a better choice of tackle in the UK, than we did in Ireland. 😁👌
top content ! thanks brother love that deep clear water. Tip find a drinks stopper/cork that fits to protect the spigot on your rod , if needed bit of sanding , all best
Thanks Brother, the info is much appreciated. Glad you like it bud 😁👌
Great video Billy 👍🎣
Thank you Rich! Much appreciated 😁👌
@Billyfishing_watch I watch all your videos and love them and learn a lot more than I already know. Your crack is brilliant and maybe one day I'd love to accompany you on one of your trips to norway 🇳🇴. It would be AMAZING 🎣🐟🐟
@AlMair-p7e Glad you liked the videos, much appreciated! Thanks Brother 😁👌
Well done Billy for saying it as it is….too many RUclips anglers talk about their mega ££££s rods/reels etc for Norway,
leaving regular anglers thinking they cannot/shouldn’t go to Norway as it’s beyond their budget. Cheers for this video!!😀🎣🎣🎣 …RUclips anglers take note…Billy is the real deal, all the best, take care xxxx
Walking the walk, talking the talk 🤣 thanks Angela, it really means a lot! Sometimes I feel RUclips is just sales by proxy. Nice tackle is nice, what is not always necessary😁👌
Really enjoyed that episode billy 👍
Tanks Wayne, glad you enjoy the brother 😁👌
Nice one Billy
Thanks Carl, glad you liked it Brother 😁👌
Great vid Billy, awful weather.
Superb brace of cod, you must eat well!
Yes I do! Thanks Brother, much appreciated 😁👌
Hey Billy, i really enjoy watching your videos, i wish i could come fishing with you someday 😊
You should come to Denmark and catch some seatrout someday, i think you would love that 🥰
Best fishing greetings
Peter from Denmark 😀
Thanks Peter. As it goes I have caught plenty of sea trout in Denmark! Maybe someday I will return again. Thanks Brother 😁👌
Cool catch. Its pretty empty in oslofjord at the moment, something about the oxygen down there not being right, can still catch off a boat but shorefishing is tough.
I would say the overfishing in the seas around you, is not helping very much either! Thanks Brother 😁👌
Another excellent video and great motivation for us who like fishing but don't have so much money. I am occasionally in Norway and I always bring my cheap set that i bought in Biltema in Sweden for around 25e (might be a bit too cheap :D). So far I managed to catch many different fish species although not such monsters as yours (my records are 3.2kg ling and 3.5kg cod).
I'm currently struggling to get something else but saithe which I can catch in tons during night at at peer where I fish. It seems to be very deep, 50+ meters just few meters from edge of peer. Do you have any advice what to do in such case (fishing into abyss :D)?
I have experienced this as well! What you need to do is get the bait out past the small nuisance fish! And there should be some big cod, or something else that comes to eat them! Thanks Brother 😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch Thanks a lot for advice. That is what I'm trying to do, I cast as far as I can (30-50m) and then just let the line flow from the reel while bait is sinking and that takes quite a long time. But I have a feeling that it doesn't reach the bottom but hangs on a slope of that peer or lands on some rock... Still, fishing in Norway is the best fishing experience I had so far, and your videos are really helpful and full of knowledge :)
@@uqdesign my last piece of advice, is make the bait so big, that the past fish can't get it in their mouths! And just play The long game.
Nice one Billy and I like the message there is an old fella here who does not like reels he fishes with handline and line on the end of the rod best pike I've seen him with was 10 kgs
Hi Neil, as it goes I've been trying to catch flounder on a hand line for a long time! But I have not succeeded yet. Thanks Brother 😁👌
hi billy , you will need a whole sack of potatoes to go with those two monsters.
Those fish were so big! I don't think there's enough potatoes, the hold of Norway 🤣 thanks Brother 😁👌
Lovely fish billy hope the weatherproofs are still holding out
I just wear the waterproofs, so people don't feel bad for me! A sieve has better water retention 🤣 thanks Brother 😁👌
nice one billy another great video like it keep it simple hey
Indeed brother I am, I think we all depend too much on all these gimmicks! Thanks Brother 😁👌
Well done billy mate
Thanks Brother 😁👌
2 beauties!
Thanks hacker, much appreciated brother 😁👌
I had a 11 foot hellbender and a 6500 in the 80s good times
The hell bender was around in the 80s! I had no idea. Thanks Brother 😁👌
Excellent intro lol
Thanks Brother 😁✊
Love it
Thanks Brother, much appreciated 😁👌
Awesome brother x
Thanks Matt, hope you're good 😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch All good brother flat out in work, hope to get back out fishing soon its been like 8 weeks or so lol!
Love it mate! Keep it simple and the results speak for themselves. But it's strange watching you baiting up a big J hook instead of a dingle dangle!
Hi Pete. I was trying to get a point across, the fishing doesn't always need to be complicated! And beginners might find circle hooks, Dingle dangles. A bit daunting! Thanks Brother 😁👌
@Billyfishing_watch yep, that definitely came across well mate.
Big pan of potatoes on with them beast's 😂
Really big 🤣👌
Great stuff Billy, I love the simplicity of “old school”..legend!!
What knot do you use for your 100lb shock Leader mate?
Hi Craig. And thank you! I use my own knot, and it is in this video linked below.
ruclips.net/video/ohQGlM3DvNk/видео.html
@@Billyfishing_watch thank you 🙏
Another excellent video cheers Billy :) I`ll tell ya what though, i wouldn`t have believed you were a teenager of the 80`s shur you dont look a day over 30 😉
This is because I use cheap cameras, with low resolution! So I look younger than my years 🤣 thanks brother, glad you liked it 😁👌
Used to dive Norway (Narvik WW2 area) early October
Lots of Pollock use to lurk in the 20-30 m range on reefs that went down to 50-55M
Might be worth float fishing tight in (or spinning/jigging) if you're happy with getting caught up in the crags they hunt in
Skipper of our boat spoke of the Orca's coming in end of October early November to feed on spawning "herring" but what he meant by herring is anyone's guess (Scottish and loved a we dram most of the time)
It's been some time since I've fished up in narvik, but who knows maybe I will turn again someday. Thanks brother
👋✌️
Thanks Brother 😁👌
We have been surprised at how close-in we have caught fish in Norway. Literally under our feet.
Out of curiosity whathat do you think the results would have been if you were lure fishing instead of bait?
Hi Diane. On that Mark! lures produced the fish during the daytime. Baits don't seem to work, and the fish are generally not that big 😁👌
Billy bags a big back to basics brace. 😊
Try try and say that 10 times quickly 🤣 thanks John, much appreciated brother😁👌
Boom
Thank you my Celtic brother 😁👌
Most tackle is designed to catch the angler 🎣
Hit the nail on the head there brother! Thanks Arch😁👌
Hit the nail on the head there brother! Thanks Arch😁👌
nice one billy new subscriber too cheers martyn
Hi Martyn. Thanks for the sub Brother, hope you liked video 😁👌
@Billyfishing_watch yes Billy have started my own channel and getting a bit done myself
I had an Abu 484 beach rod back in the 80s, 11.5 feet and you could pull the plug out with it
So they were making rods back then for surf casting! Thanks Brother 😁👌
Brings back memories 😀 me too!
us poor people had the 464 [same blank as 484 but no cork grip just alloy tube and shrink tube & coasters] but it did mean you could have your penn squider in the right place
Still have my Abu 6500 and it still going
Nice Richard. When is it from?
BILLY!!!!!!! 🙂
Thanks Brother 😁👌
Billy catching big cod, whats not to like? 👍🎣🐟
The weather 🤣 Thanks Brother 😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch Norway in autumn - standard. 😁☔
The profile picture through me there Viking! 🤣 I thought you were a new subscriber! But as it goes there's been raining since I got here, anytime I pull out some bait rods! The heavens open up 🤣
can you please make a video where u show the lures, hooks, weights, lines, rods and reels...all gear u need to fish from shore. both spinning and maybe bottom fishing with bait for example shrimp? i started toi buy some gear and lures for next sumemrs trip but im still a bit confused what to get:P
Hi if you go into my playlist, you will find videos on all these subjects! Here are a couple of links to get you started, thanks Brother 👌

fishing close in at night for the bigger predatory fish, have you ever tried a live baitfish or even a locally caught dead baitfish? and if not why not, lol just wondering,
Hi Jon! Why not? Because live bait fishing is forbidden in Norway! Thanks brother 😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch sorry I was ignorant of that fact, is a small deadbait permitted or is that also a nono.
Just a quick question Billy.
I noticed you like bleeding the fish by cutting through the muscles at the base of the tail, do you prefer that to cutting the gill arteries?
You can just bleed them by cutting the gills, but I like to take it a bit further! Follow the link to this video, and it will explain. Thanks Brother 😁👌
ruclips.net/video/FK6Cp_ISNF8/видео.html
@@Billyfishing_watch Right I'll have a watch my fellow Celtic friend.
There's me only doing half a job 😂.
Definitely makes a difference to the taste, even if just bleeding the gills then hanging.
@richardjones2811 yes it does 👌
I think people have become tackle tarts, myself included lol. Back when I was young in the late 80s, you used whatever tackle and bait you could get. Now it's frozen bait and big money.
Hey Nigel. I hate that it has gone that way! But it will force people to become creative, and solve problems in another way. I source most of my bait and make most of my own tackle. I could never afford to make videos if I was paying the going rate. Thanks Brother 😁👌
Oh my golly utube unsubbed me the b@st@rds! I'm at least a month behind. Great vid so beautiful and grand fish.
🤣 glad you liked it, thanks Brother 😁👌
I just had to retire my old Daiwa beachcaster 😞 I have owned it 30+ years and picked it up 2nd hand for 20 quid lol. Three rings have decided they want to retire and I´m not spending stupid money on replacing them! 😞
Have a look on AliExpress! They have good guides, for not so much money! You soon have the old rod catching fish again!
any reason why you are not using circle hooks? Are they not effective for hake?
Hake a very tricky fish to catch! The video was also for beginners. And generally when you use circle hooks! Quite often bsitalastic is needed! And Hake don't like it, thanks brother 😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch Nice one thanks. Yeah hate bait elastic myself. Respect to any fish that shares my hatred of the stuff. Bass don't like it either IME. With a circle hook dongle, if the bait and casting distance allows, I try and thread on the bait and use an improvised bait stop similar to putting a boilie on a hair.
alright billy mate was wondering if you knew how to fish for like and if you you could make a video fishing for them and showing us how i recently went fishing for pike for the first time for 24+ hours overnight and had a humbling experience with only 2 runs and no successful hook sets im a carp fisherman but only once a year when i go to france so was hoping to try find a good species of fish in Scotland to target 😂😂😂
Apologies brother, I only fish in the sea!
@@Billyfishing_watch ah no worries brother
Do you go back and forth to Ireland or do you live in Norway?
Have a look at my playlist and that will answer your questions, thanks Brother 😁👌
