Hi Robert, in shallow water I will get between 40 to 50 minutes and in deeper water they will fish for 60 to 70 minutes. There are more crustaceans in shallow water, than deep water. There are more starfish other things like that in the deepwater, and they don't rip the bait up quite so quickly.👍😊
Nice cod man! My weekend fishing was a disaster. Strong winds and 4m-5m waves crashing onto the beach. Not funny :-( Maybe go looking for some zander in the damn today. Question Billy... Not into offset circle hooks? Why?
Thanks brother. The offset hooks, my reason for using circle hooks is purely conservation and offset circle is more indiscriminate then a inline circle and defeats the purpose of using circle hooks. Best of luck with the zander. Fish on👍😁
@@Billyfishing_watch Nice one Billy. I could not get inline circle hooks at my locak tackle shop. The ones I picked up have a very slight offset, still waiting to try them 😞 Ha, if I don´t get any zander maybe I should be able to get enough signal crayfish for dinner 🙂
They are only there at one time of the year! And at the time I didn't really think about it too much. But they come there to spawn! And they only take a bait or lure, after they have spanned. And their flesh is now good! Add to this the 60 m of water you're catching them in, and they will certainly die! I am not going to fish there again! There are plenty of cod in Norway! But, if we don't change our ways, they will disappear. Let them breathe in peace!
Am thinking of coming over again with my brother would like to go further north but my brother does not fly so cruise is best option alesund would be perfect just need to know best months to go cheers for
March to April the fisher there, and then back out to see. It's pretty hard fishing though, you will need a cast of at least 120 to 150 meters. With a big bait. Also you should know, most of the fish will die. Because of the depth of water. So they have to be taken for the table. The flash is not very good because they have just spawned, they will no feed be for spawning. If you are just there for a couple of days it is unlikely that you will catch anything, from the shore. Thanks Brother 👍😁
Thanks Nigel, somebody needs to tip the scales sometimes. I had as much fish as I needed. And you know the old expression there's plenty more fish in the sea, but maybe not for long. Fishing on 👍😊
@@Billyfishing_watch True, I got some strange looks half way through a Mackerel trip last year when I packed up. Had enough for the Winter Cod and didn't see the point in keeping going and killing more.
Hi Pim, the cod come to this area to spawn, once a year it is the only time you can catch them. I was fishing into 50 / 60 m. Thanks brother fish on 👍😁👌
Been binging your vids lately the fishing looks great over there and you've got a knack for talking to the camera. If you don't mind me asking , how did you end up living in Norway?
I think you got right down there. I have some rods from Africa. Some Shimano elites and some assassins equinox. I just love the action they have and despite the fact therefore big game they are very sensitive. I' trying to get people to use more circle hooks in Europe and the Northern hemisphere so someway we can repair some damage. thanks brother👍
@@Billyfishing_watch i have the new equinox-.... casts an absolute mile- especially with braid, which i think will be an absolute gamechanger for you with the depths you are fishing, (bite detection and just pulling power)!
@@Billyfishing_watch Just looked them up and they are the same. A guy got a 8 pound 26 incher yesterday to win the fish pool $$. I won last year with one about the same size.
Hi Craig, I never fished in Oslo, and I never hear of good fishing there. But there must be some codling and Polack around off the rocks, further South. Best of luck Brother 👍😁
@@Billyfishing_watch many thanks buddy! I have a 5 day trip to the south tip of Norway end of May so looking forward to a great time.. love your videos, I'm ex army and spent many years in North Norway where many of your videos are, you are so lucky to be based out there!
Hi. Where I am fishing in the video, is a popular place for dog walkers. And if you have seen the rig I was using, you will realize that it is unsafe. Thanks 👌
I understand and respect your decision to cease fishing beyond a certain point to avoid harming fish, but it's an approach inconsistent with using a fish to provide 1 or 2 baits. If you care about not hurting sentient creatures, but you love fishing, you have to use flys or artificial lures. Here in North Devon I don't catch much in the sea using those methods, probably because I can't be bothered to go further than Come Martin harbour and I'm shit, which has led me to pretty much giving up fishing. That's a great shame because I love fishing but I can't get past the fact that I don't want to kill just for my pleasure. A real dilemma for anglers.
Hi brother. I feel the same way as you in actual fact. But sometimes the circumstances get the better of you! Originally I intended to keep the fish and eat them, but not having caught a post spawn cod before I did not realize that their flesh was not really good. And that was the last video I shot in that area! Thanks Brother 😁👌

Thanks brother, see you on the beach 👍😁👌
Billy im from Brighton I’m in Dublin on my stag doo got talking to a guy at mooneys bar opposite the wynn hotel and we got onto the subject of you ! Haha small world love your videos bro keep them coming !
I hope he was saying good stuff about me 😅 Have a good stag! See you on the beach brother 😁👍
Nice cods . Well done .
Thanks Sean, fish on Brother 👍😊👌
Hey Billy,
How long do you leave those big layered baits out for, if they’re not being nibbled on?
Hi Robert, in shallow water I will get between 40 to 50 minutes and in deeper water they will fish for 60 to 70 minutes. There are more crustaceans in shallow water, than deep water. There are more starfish other things like that in the deepwater, and they don't rip the bait up quite so quickly.👍😊
@@Billyfishing_watch thanks Billy!
No probs 👍
Yet another great vid Billy ,someday soon you’ll get your 40lb er 👍👍
Hi Billy, maybe one day brother but I have a feeling it's going to take a while. Thanks brother, 👍😁 fish on
Great Video Billy did you get the Yacht @ 5.00m 😁
Hi Martin, glad you liked it. Of course I got it🤣 Thanks Brother 👍😁
brilliant vid and some awesome cod billy
Hi Dave, what a beast can't wait to get the 40 lb fish. fish on brother 👍😁
Great video! Those rigs are intense! Shit, I would take a 14 pound cod.... still a great catch! Cheers brother!
Thanks brother, it's all ways nice with a big fish. I would love to see the fishing around the labrador coast, it must be insane.👍😊
Sounds great 😋
Nice bro.. well done ya..💪
Thanks brother, fish on 👍😁👌
Hi Billy when is the best time for cod in Alesund, is July good?
They are only there at one time of the year! And at the time I didn't really think about it too much. But they come there to spawn! And they only take a bait or lure, after they have spanned. And their flesh is now good! Add to this the 60 m of water you're catching them in, and they will certainly die! I am not going to fish there again! There are plenty of cod in Norway! But, if we don't change our ways, they will disappear. Let them breathe in peace!
Our first time in Norway stopped in Alesund and got a ling but no sign of cod, where do you get your bait?
Hi Bryn, I get my bait in eurospar. Tight lines Brother 👍
Can I ask what month was this video filmed
Hi Ronald. What part of the world, are you in?
Scotland video's are brilliant I was in norway in September on a cruise took spinning gear caught a few pollack in olden
Well played on the fish management. Lots of people would have hammered that area if the fish were biting.
That to he right way to do it 👍
Nice man. What dept did you fish for the big cod? In Holland we only catch small ones now
Hi Pim, the cod come to this area to spawn, once a year it is the only time you can catch them. I was fishing into 50 / 60 m. Thanks brother fish on 👍😁👌
Been binging your vids lately the fishing looks great over there and you've got a knack for talking to the camera. If you don't mind me asking , how did you end up living in Norway?
Hi. Glad you like the vids. Don't get hung up on the details Brother, just enjoy the fishing and I'll see you on the beach 👍😁
Protect your mono with a length of silicone tube.Nice video.
Thanks for the tip, fish on Stu👍😁👌
Cod fishing I can only dream of!
At one time it was just a dream for me two Brother!😁👌
prper bait man- very similar to our south african Kob baits.
@@Billyfishing_watch i have the new equinox-.... casts an absolute mile- especially with braid, which i think will be an absolute gamechanger for you with the depths you are fishing, (bite detection and just pulling power)!
top dangling mate 👌
Thanks brother, that was true dangling👍😁👌
Got 8 haddock 1 pollick and a cusk sunday had to throw back all the cod and first time in a while we did well with the cod.
Shame about the cod, but you did well with the Pollock and haddock. I hope to get some haddock soon. see you on the beach 👍😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch Are your haddock different than the gulf of maine haddock? I thought they were.
I'm not sure, but if you look on my Instagram page. You will see a picture of a European haddock a big one. Billyfishing on insta 👍
@@Billyfishing_watch ok
@@Billyfishing_watch Just looked them up and they are the same. A guy got a 8 pound 26 incher yesterday to win the fish pool $$.
I won last year with one about the same size.
Hi, im in Oslo for a few days next week can anybody recommend any shore fishing spots please? Tks Craig
They built the road with pot holes to make you feel more at home😀😀😀fine fish 👏👏👏
But I've got a Dublin accent those potholes are from Kerry 😜👌 thanks Brother 👍😁
I live here!!
Enjoy, buddy. Love Ålesund, glad you liked it. Thanks 😁👌
nice video, you seemed to be walking a bit funny at times, was that because you needed the toilet or a doctor
Thanks. Neither of the two suggested maybe just a bit of slowmo.
I dream about fish like that 👍
Darren, it doesn't have to be a dream. Thanks brother, see you on the beach 👍😁👌
Try a pendulum cast.
Hi. Where I am fishing in the video, is a popular place for dog walkers. And if you have seen the rig I was using, you will realize that it is unsafe. Thanks 👌
Oioi Billy the codfather as your now known
Thanks brother, fish on 👍😁👌
Fresh cod & chips with salt and vinger please 🤣
Yep, that's what I had for dinner last night 😂 Thanks Dean, see you on the beach 👍😁
Billlllly
Thanks Jon, see you on the beach Brother 👍😁
Oh yeah the macro was bought in the supermarket frozen 👍
@@Billyfishing_watch You're a man of character to react like this to my comment, which, when I read it back, comes across as a bit rude. You also make great videos. All the best to you brother.
@KaliYug. Being honest is sometimes confused as rude 😁
hello brother, I see you were fishing in my town💪💪💪
Sure was! The most beautiful town in Norway 😁👌
