As a user of the 600 and 800, i got very used to the 1 thru 49 vdi numbers...i dont like that they switched to 1 to 99 numbers on the 700 and 900.....i find that the numbers jump around more even on solid targets with the 700 and 900.....it would be nice if they gave the option to select between 0 to 49 vdi, or 0 to 99vdi, or a software option to select what you like.
Thanks for your vids! I've been metal detecting for 45 years and you are one of the best at getting the targets centered and out of the hole quickly. I'm new with the 900 (6 months beach mostly) and very frustrated with the iron. Page 39 Instructions say "A higher iron bias setting of 5-9 is recomended for rejecting crown bottle caps".....but even at 9 mine doesn't reject (or send it to an iron tone) unless I discriminate. One vid show guys rejecting a Corona cap at FE setting 6...mine does not...even at 9. One guy shows the 900 failing at ANY iron FE rejection while a side by side comparison with the 700 did a great job with it....he even says in disbelief "Minelab, what in the world did you do with the 900?" I'm wondering if my machine is faulty....and perhaps many could be faulty, since some vids are popping up showing very different iron rejection...some doing it while ohers (like mine) won't come close. I typically use beach mode, 2 tone, horseshoe on. I'm actually afraid to go into parks since I can't eliminate the iron falsing. It's still under warranty so I want to get more feedback from regular users like you before returning it. Can you eliminate (or send to iron tone) a Corona cap using just your FE like the instructions say? Thanks for your feedback and great vids.
I think the key to getting targets out quickly is the magic of video editing, there's times I'm chasing a tiny scraps of trash, no one wants to watch that😂
As far as iron goes, I played with settings a bit, been frustrated and just learned to live it with. I tend to dig everything. What's funny is that although the X-terra pro has erratic ID #'s, there are times I'll see a bottle cap on the surface and the detector doesn't always pick it up🤔🤔
@@SeekandDetect Thanks...I guess I'm just trying to determine if my machine is faulty. I can't cancel a bottle cap (or even tiny iron bits) with FE when others seem to be able to. Can you cancel a cap with FE?
Have had the 900 since mid December 23, using it south Florida gulf side. Beaches mainly 2 times a week using beach2, only remember digging 2 bottle caps all winter. Back to Michigan for the summer..
One more thing I do not care much for in the 900 & 800 as well is the fact that they detect such SMALL items. It drives me nuts on certain salt water beaches I detect at, digging LOTs of small copper pieces. My old Minelab detectors did not find all this small stuff, they were the BBS machines.. I do not remember if the ExplorerII found such small items.. It never made it to Florida, kept my Sovereign and Excalibur here.
the 700 is great. you dont need the advanced features. a person with knowledge of how to use a detector is better off with a lower end detector. i did have it long before i started find a few silver objects and a couple of gold objects. have a good day. be out this weekend swing my gm1000. me 92646.
There are another pair of headphones that work with the 900, MINELAB ML-105. I’m probably going to get a pair, they go completely over the ear and are said to be more comfortable. Yeah, I agree with the iron falsing but I’m getting used to it. 👍🏻
@@SeekandDetect I am so used to the 900 I have to think more sometimes. But I have done well with the D2 doing some beach hunting and it appears to be slightly deeper all around. I’ve gone over previously hunted areas and am getting silver in fields and lawns. I do like that the D2 can be submerged without problems too. I don’t feel comfortable doing the same with the 900. I did find a $41,000 pink 3 carat diamond ring with the D2.
Yes I HATE the fact that the wireless headphones are Propitery on the 900. If I would have know this at purchase time I may not have purchased a Minelab 900. I have purchased 5 new Minelab detectors in the past 25 years. Have I mentioned the fact that Minelab has made the wireless headphones Propitery! On the 900.
Question. How does the 900 stack up to 609/800? Do you find it any deeper ? More sensitive to smaller things? I am wanting to purchase one but am looking for answers . Thank you, and thanks for the videos!
I don't own a 600/800 but I've heard similar experiences from guys that own both. The numbers on the 800 will be tighter. That maybe be because of the smaller scale 40 vs 99. I'm not a number digger, I dig nearly everything. Some people seems to think the 900 goes deeper and hits smaller targets. One thing I know for sure, the 900 will find the smallest bits of deep iron and sometimes it'll signal a high more conductive material (which is wrong).
Got another 800 now 1200.00 900 1500.00 no not expensive deus over 2000.00 manticore 3000.00 plus but comes back to what ya get ie only need one good target i did free 800 .😂 love it.also got another 2 1937 crown silvers xterra is free as well see you lads like the all metal side of units i love that notch based on vdi number's at the end of the day not sure dig it but that horse shoe button's bloody well worth its weight in gold.🎉 cheers boys have a good one.
2 things i hate or more annoying is when extendkng the shafts out, the cable always gets caught on the clamps. 2nd thing is its 1 bolt for the 11" coil but for some reason they couldnt add the thread on the 6" coil and u have to use the we plastic nut with it. Why?????? Why not add the internal thread! Just something to get lost.
Yes and yes! With the shaft the cable is always a little too loose or too tight, sometimes I'll pull the slack out of the cable and loop it over the clamp. The 6" they didn't change since the 600/800 as small mold change would've been simple.
Yeah exactly mate! The cord catching jn the clamps always gets me tho. It's only a little I guess haha the machine itself like you say is great. I'm happy with mine 👌
EEK-win-ox / EK-wen-ox. I've always said the former. Last year, in a quick poll of friends, all agreed with me. We're SoCal born boomers. EK-wen-ox seems more common on RUclips channels. Is this a generational &/or regional difference? / I have a 600 as back up but wish I had a 700 or 900 instead.

that makes sense, sort of like the ability to changes the number of tones, some people like only 2 others like all tone.
Numbers jump on my 800 too. Idk

I have the same problem with the iron. I dont know what to do

I don't mind finding small stuff, but usually the tiny finds are junk.
I dig lots of nice sounding iron with the 800. But I really like the machine.
Thanks for sharing this. I have the same love/hate relationship with my 900
😎
I to have the 900 if I could go back I would get the 700 much better price point imo. Great video keep them coming.

If you're not using gold mode it's probably a wise choice.
whoops (didnt). have it a long time.

That's something to consider. If I run across a set I'd like to try them on. The ML-85's just fit me when fully extended.
Thanks for this review!
Thanks for watching!❤️
You did a great job covering the main likes and dislikes for me. I purchased an XP Deus 2 and was switching back and forth. Good video… John
how are you liking the D2 compared to the 900?

I bought a Bluetooth transmitter dongle off of Amazon for around $35 that plugs into the 3.5 mm headphone port. Works great with AirPods Pro earbuds
Nice. That probably works good!
I agree with the headphones they screwed up with not making them weather resistant and the fact that exclusive wireless connection bull sh- t.
that's a good point, I should've mention the non-waterproof part as well!
C'mon MineLab no updates for the iron???
we can always hope, but the more time that goes by the less chance of it happening.
That’s what I’m sayin! 😩
Thanks for the information mate.

It's something people should know. I'd probably go wired before I got rid of my 900, but some other options would be nice.

lol i would have either if they was free mate using a shovel at mo inbetween wots out there, i do beaches most weekends exquinox 900.
free would be great!
Headphone 🎧 water proof ones by mine lab only way to go.
iron and micro foils...no indication of a targets solidity with the heavily modulated audio.
Please say Equinox one more time🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeekwin-ox🐂 😝😝

Now I'm going to over-think it every time I say the word😅
