    This is just the cutest little rolling vacation suite I swear! Rockwood always finds a way to break all the rules but somehow IT ALWAYS WORKS FOR THEM!!
    I really see this one as a great singles or couple's getaway camper. The shorter size is great for towing while the taller ceilings & king bed slide + bathroom ensuite just scream "Seasonal" or "Destination Use!"
    The walk-thru bedroom isn't for everybody. So if you'd prefer a rear bedroom or queen bed, then take a look at these:

    Coachmen also does something similar with a dedicated camp kitchen!

    The hidden drain is probably not a deal breaker but the 20' run of hose to connect to the main and the extra fittings and hose support would make me think twice. And really no need for 2 sinks in the bathroom, 1 and a w/d setup would be much preferred. Other than that I like it all.
    Good video Josh, thanks.

    Because the front slide drain is just grey water, I would hook it up before I opened the slide and keep the slide valve open. Love this trailer!!!!

    • @walkerhomevideo
      @walkerhomevideo 2 года назад +1

      I used to keep the gray tank valve open until my camper started smelling like sewer. Some research suggested it was because some sink vents (like mine) don't vent outside. When I started closing it, the smell went away. So I would be keeping them closed unless dumping. Our routine is that I am usually dumping while my wife is getting the inside ready for travel, which necessitates the slide being out. So this, plus having to get an extra hose and a "Y" fitting (or dump twice, crawling under slides), means it is off my list.

      @angelaacrivosharvey4464 we had her out this weekend on our shakedown cruise, everything went well. Just a nice camper for the 2 of us. Plenty of room for us and the high tv wasn't really a show stopper. Once you recline it's a great viewing angle. The fact that the main exterior storage is under the bed, you have to make trips from that side to the other to set up, but that's not a show stopper either.
      The lack of a wineguard 360 antenna is causing some challenges for internet but working on a solution for that with a 5g router with sim card. (I'm in tech and I often work while on the road so internet access is a must) The wifi ranger apparently only works with T Mobile which for rural areas isn't that great. I'll get it nailed down though!

      @@davidosborne8349wow thank you so much for that quick in depth reply and something else for me to definitely keep in mind as my future RV will need service of some sort of good service if my sister (usually remote contract software engineer) travels (& works) with me. Let me know if there any videos to help with similar situations while traveling? Thank you again!

    Nice but I agree that it does need some tweeks. First, I would swap the bedroom and bathroom locations with one another. Second, I agree that the front gray water pull needs to be relocated. Third, as someone mentioned I would hinge the shelf near the entryway. Last I think a queen bed with more room for my cpap would be good. Don't need the king. I could live with the small eating arrangement but it could be more user friendly.

If 2 people are sitting at the breakfast bar, one person could swing around and sit at the end. The kitchen is well laid out in a triangle fashion. The lack of hanging closet space and awkward sewer connections are not necessarily a deal breaker but a negotiating point. An extra A/C unit could be in the bedroom area. Hey Josh what a great review, we have been looking for a new travel trailer and enjoy your reviews very much. This was a model we had not seen before. Our kids are in college and we ate now empty nester but have a shell on our truck and therefore 5th wheels are out. We have a 3/4 ton diesel and I feel confident this is not a 1/2 ton towable , we have a jayco at this point that is older, 1998 and weights in at 7000 pounds loaded and the diesel does not notice but our navigator did not do well with it, it would pull it but struggled. The kitchen dump does not bother me as the dump would be done with the slide closed. This one is in contention for sure. Thank you for the review.

    Love this Rockwood travel trailer, I was able to actually see one in person and the layout was one of the best and most spacious ones I have seen, one thing to consider... instead of making the double sink a standard feature it would make more sense to make it optional with optional washer dryer hookups for those that are going to be spending long periods of time living in this camper. I definitely agree on the point of the grey water drain in the front of the camper, that is definitely some questionable placement. Beyond that I would be sold on this camper, it is spacious and they make the most of every square inch.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 года назад

      You actually have to be careful with washer dryer hook ups. You really should not put them dead on the rear wall like that as the bouncing can damage the machine when it’s all the way behind the axles that far

    The 2 access pieta don't bother me to much because the 2516s has the same issue but with the slides in it's not a deal breaker. The only issue would be if at the dump station and the hose would not reach both access points and you would have to move the trailer

    My 8313 was configured the same for the kitchen sink. Needed to repair the rear gray and was having trouble finding the leak. Removed the bottom cover, found the leak and looked at the front gray tank. easy plumbing job to add a line back to the other gray tank. Put both gray shut off valves up in the heated compartment so they would not freeze. The valves stem and handle stuck out of the bottom cover. Did same with black water. Both gray and black exited at the factory rear outlet. Added positive support to the outlet (factory lack of support appeared to be the cause of the leak).
    We have had some freezing temps and so far no issues or problems.
    Do not like the dinning area. Limited shelf space on the sides of the bed. Not sure if BiPAP would fit.
    One AC has worked fine for me. AC improved a bit.
    Do like the double sinks.
    Solar - joke ! My truck cap has 800 watts and is under 7' long. My Rockwood has much more. Remove or line up roof penetrations with AC leaving a left and right area for solar. Top of slide outs put flexible panels. Add batteries and properly sized inverters and power the whole camper. Had one camp ground give me a hassle when I did not connect to the power. They tried to charge me for power.

    I really like this floor plan all around. If I needed to access the bathroom I'd put wood chocks under the end of the bed to support any weight. Single sink in the bath is enough. Larger solar package and maxair fans with rain covers would be better. The 2608 is ok, but this is better.

      I don't see why not. There'd just be a little limited knee space potentially. That's why I mentioned the angled seating on the end -- so your legs kind of organically wrap around the cabinet base

    Josh: So if I understand you correctly, when the slides are retracted, the bed is not usable to sleep on becauce it's not supported. How then does the end of the bed become supported for sleeping use when the slide is deployed? Respectfully, WS

    My question for anyone on this model would be with the slides closed, couldn't you prop a few small blocks for support under the end of bed?...especially if you wanted to sleep on it without putting the slides out. Also, maybe most important, what is the maximum wattage panels those side ports on RV trailers accept for portable panels? Is it standard or does it vary? This model seems great with a much better solar package.

    I like the front kitchen, glad to see slam latches on the storage doors! I'd like to see a larger outside kitchen, such as the 2507 or 2513 MiniLites or similar, love spending time outside as much as possible. I'd gladly give up that second bathroom sink in lieu of a larger outside kitchen. Or, they could add a second entry door in the bathroom, it'd certainly improve travel access. That front gray tank drain access sure seems like an afterthought not part of the normal Rockwood plan. That awning cover should be an option on other Rockwood units!

      At first I thought but then they usually make the shower smaller when bathroom has 2 doors but then I saw what they were suggesting maybe shorten the vanity and put the door there with a bit of reconfiguring. But you wouldn't want to accidentally leave the bedroom access door locked and you go to go use the restroom during a rainstorm lol in a hurry 😢. Great suggestion otherwise especially if you get dirty or wet and don't want to walk through the main areas.

    I really like this layout & decor as a couples suite. But I prefer a queen sized bed with larger side ledges. That gray tank valve in an easier to reach location. The tv area I'd re-do, remove housing all together (hate the pointy corner). I'd get different bar stools that weren't so bulky. In the kitchen I'd like to know why the sponge drawer couldn't have been a regular drawer. But overall this is a great layout for my wants. ❤️

    Nice camper but I'll stay with my 2608BS. I'd rather have the extra room for a dinette and sofa with a smaller bathroom than the counter and larger bathroom. It also has the separate drain hidden by the slide. I've only camped twice in my 2608BS and it's not a big deal other than having to move the hose when dumping and not having the extra grey water to help flush the hose. I haven't camped with full hookups yet and figure i will just need to pull the slide in. I agree on no need for the 2 bathroom sinks. I would also get the 2nd AC. I have it and am so glad I did. It was nice having the electric heat strip last fall so I'm sure I will love the extra AC in the summer.

    I really like this trailer and I love, love, LOVE the layout for my wife and me. However, I agree with you about the front gray tank release. I’m guessing that Rockwood intended for users to retract the slide before dumping. One other thing that really makes m not want to buy this model is that someone could break in the access points from the outside that lead into the kitchen or the bedroom. I work at a storage facility and that is exactly how a thief broke into one of my customers’ 5th wheel rig. The outside door was easy to pry open and from there, he got in and ransacked it. Plus there’s also the issue of outdoor air getting drawn in as well. Just a couple of fairly easy fixes I hope the Rockwood folks will address in future builds.
