    Another great review! I feel like I've looked at GD floor plans a hundred times. Had no idea this one had the desk area! That is really cool! As a fully remote worker looking for an TT to full-time in, kind of crazy how few manufacturers are thinking about desk space.

    Hello Josh, We just picked up a 2670MK in February. Been out three times so far. Excellent couples trailer. We probably have only 70 % of available storage filled. We actually like ours with the theater seats and dinette. My wife loves the heated theater seat availability. We also like the cushions on the dinette to lean against as opposed to table chairs, but that’s just us. We use the desk for a coffee bar, we are retired and don’t actually need a desk. We put a plastic tote where the seat for the desk would be and use it for our camp recycle ♻️. We also appreciate the R40 ceiling and R30 underbelly insulation. We appreciate the trailer coming equipped with the Good Year tires already. At least ours came with them. We give this trailer a “two thumbs up”.

    Depends what ur rear ratio is on ur half-ton truck. Mine has a 3.92 rear which gives me a tow-ability of just over 11,000 lbs.
    However it will require higher engine RPM's for any given speed which results in lower fuel economy.

    We have the Alta East to West 2810kik you mentioned in the Video. Its the same floor plan but its has 3 advantages I see right off the bat. 1. King Bed is Standard. 2. Power leveling jacks on all 4 corners. 3. The bedroom has a regular door. So the Tv mount is on the wall directly in front of the bed where it should be. On this unit the barn door is in the way.
    The two tiny advantages I see on this unit are. 1. The Griddle vs ours has the Capital Grill. It sucks. But we can and others have already swapped it out for a griddle. 2. The two big drawers under the bedrooms large wardrobe. Our wardrobe is taller so we can put shoes and crap on the bottom and the shirts and pants hanging don't hit them. So we use it for shoe storage. Also there are two drawers under the bed itself which is really nice.
    Grand Design is a nice unit but I would defiantly go with the Alta 2810 kik if you can find one.

After all, you can still access the bathroom and bedroom and those are the primaries for those overnight stops in the Walmart parking lot. Overall, nice rig. But way too heavy for my truck. I like it a lot but it is very low on cargo capacity. Wish the televator, also had pivot functions. Also wish it was carpetless but not a deal breaker for me. I do not like the placement of the electrical wiring under the bathroom, but that is a simple fix of water proofing over it. I would like either table and chairs with a sofa or theater with a booth. Like the interior coloring. Absolutely love the single outlet for sewer. --- Separate question, you mentioned barely half ton tow-able based on it's length as a 26ft, how would a 3/4 ton prevent wind issues vs a 1/2 ton?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 года назад

      So the first thing I need to point out is this is not a 26ft RV. I suspect that model number has shaped your expectation of this one. It's 32ft long tip to tail.
      It's at the size/weight where I don't feel right just saying "Oh yeah it's half ton towable" like a lot of people. Especially when you consider things like NASTY cross-winds, horsepower loss at elevations many half-tons suffer, etc
      SOME half-tons will handle it. Certainly. Some will not. It's size where you really need to investigate the half-ton in question individually.
      3/4's have a stiffer suspension that is not as easily pushed around vs. half-tons typically. Additionally, the truck itself commonly physically weighs more and is not as easily shoved by a sailboat of a camper

    • @jdollar5852
      @jdollar5852 2 года назад

      I have an F150 and a Chevy 2500. The difference in towing something like a long enclosed trailer is radical. The F150 certainly has the HP to tow this unit but the 2500 has a much more sturdy suspension and doesn't allow things to get "squirrely". We have a modified pontoon boat that isn't really very heavy but is about like pulling a giant sail. The F150 just doesn't handle it nearly as well.

    • @MikeyMK-ct7jr
      @MikeyMK-ct7jr 2 года назад

      Jack, are you referring to the pass through capacity when you say cargo ?

    • @MR.TOYBOX
      @MR.TOYBOX 2 года назад

      You can tow it with one half ton truck with the following specs. Forget the ford its too light and folks complain about the wind throwing it around. 5th Gen (2019 and up) Ram 1500 Limited with the tow package and the 3.92 gears. The 5th gen is significantly larger than the 4th gen and the fords. The limited has auto air suspension and it auto levels the trailer. However if you have the correct anti sway weight distribution the auto air will barley have to adjust as it will be level after setting it up the hitch properly. Our truck and trailer are perfect. Zero sag. Almost every 2500 and up we see going down the road and pulling into the campsites sag a decent amount. The 3.92 gears are a game changer and a must for towing . Our truck can tow about 11700 pounds. We are close to maxed out on payload with full gear and passengers but still within specs. Since that truck is very expensive I must suggest you go with a used 2500.

    yet another very nice one..... am glad i do not have a hell of a lot of money to spend on one, makes choosing much easier lol....cant choose what i can not afford..... for bedroom tv just put on swing arm tilted down a little, good enough, travel access ehh... good enough, do need to put out kitchen slide for most part if want to get to fridge, but not impossible with slide closed, put groceries on center counter, climb over dinette, then put groceries in fridge, if it opens the correct way. and you can use the rest except kitchen and desk in turtle mode, you do still have the outside kitchen regardless if need be with all closed, worst that happens is you have to cook outside and keep going outside for a beer, so usable enough in turtle mode. love the floorplan overall, great window coverage, nice desk with view, and so what if the tv and outside kitchen door block windows, if outside kitchen open, you are probably not staring at the back of the door from inside kitchen, you are outside already.... and if you have tv up in front of window, you are probably not too worried about what is outside atm anyway, unless game day in which case door open anyway... i kinda like setups where tv a bit higher with window right below it, but this is 2nd choice, with big window when tv down again good enough, probably rather have this way than tv over window in this particular one....chances are also that both windows being blocked at same time may be rather rare, if you outside, kitchen window blocked, but tv down.... inside tv window blocked but kitchen closed so can see out from kitchen, most of the time at least one will be clear view but who cares, there are windows everywhere as it is, great floorplan for not 5th wheel (and yes i did see the one referred to, remember it), just because i prefer toy hauler types does not mean i would not buy something else instead... i do not NEED space for toys, just bicycle, can toss that in the door if have to, or you could even make an alarmed secured bike rack for when parked you attach to the hooker cooker and power connection to prevent bicycle theft while sleeping, will certainly light up the area if anyone messes with your bike. .. and i do not really gamble either, i been in casino business 25 years, i know better... what i do do however is, if i go to a bar, you can either pay 5 dollars for a drink... or you can put 5 dollars in a poker/keno machine they have built in to the bar top, and get the drink for free (+tip ofcourse) and have a chance of breaking even or winning.... key is not to gamble more than that 5 bucks, unless you are ordering another drink, THEN put another 5 in the machine. .. typical scenerio where i go sometimes, put in 10 bucks, get 2 well drinks or 3 budwieser bottles.. am going to tip a few bucks either way i do it so price same regardless, except i might win 100... which means i drank for free and got paid 90 bucks to do it... rather than just spending 10 bucks outright... or i end up cashing 10 bucks out of the machine when done, 10 in, 10 out.... drank for free... all i spent was a couple dollars in tips... or 10 in 15 out... drank for free and tips did not cost me anything either... a free night out is ALWAYS a win, just do not start putting in more money than what you are drinking costs... the very worst that happens, is you paid full price for your drinks like you would have without gambling in the first place anyway.... so long as you follow that formula and do not get the gambling bug, and end up with 100 in the machine before first drink gone (which is exactly what most people do).... no no no.

    OMG!!! I'm loving your videos today. Love the desk. You know how I feel about the booth, and in case you forgot, I love it.
    Although you do make a good point about having a chair for the desk. Regarding the table, I think if you turn that around the other side of the table might be more supported. I could be wrong but I believe that was the work around that I had seen in another camper I visited recently. Let me know if that is actually the case.
    Regarding the carpet in the slide, as a user of a trailer with carpetless slides and after using it regularly for 5 years I can say that the vinyl doesn't lay down well and when it does it has a tenancy to curl up on the edges. Not to mention if you step on the part that is laying over a corner it can poke through... I'm not sure how I feel about the carpet doing the same thing or not. I do have to say that even though I don't like the edges I think the benefit of the smooth floor is beneficial. But not a deal breaker either way. I think if I were to re-engineer mine I would opt for a hard edge like the kitchen side slide in this one has.
    With regard to the outdoor kitchen, I don't know why more manufacturers don't make that an inverter switch so that you can keep it on and store the critical things in it while traveling? How easy would that be? It would be the first outlet that I would put on the inverter if I were to change it out. Also, you could grab soda quickly at a stop without having to open the slide and get to the larger fridge inside.
    Just my opinion... Well, you asked... Great video again, thanks Josh!!!
    Pat

    My thoughts on the half ton vs 3/4 ton ..first I'll let you know soon enough with a 3800BH and a half ton but my thoughts are ..besides the cargo capacity diff of the 3/4 vs 1/2 ton, 3/4 have a longer bed and a lot of half tons are short beds. My half ton has a crew cab and 6.5 bed making if pretty long. A longer wheelbase will have better tow experience.
