    I recently obtained a GSI Creos PS-771 (same as the PS-770 except chrome finish) and I think it is the best fine detail airbrush you can get under $250. You don't gain much spending $500 for a Micron (even the parts on the front are interchangeable with the Micron.)

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  4 месяца назад

      Yes I have to say I also love my 770 & 771 they are such great fine detail brushes, the only micron that I still use regularly is the cm.sb (side feed) now replaced with the micron Takumi 👍🏻

  • @tntcyclespdx640
    @tntcyclespdx640 4 года назад +3

    I picked up a 770 last year. At my skill level, in all honesty it out performs me. I find it difficult to get my mix right as the needle is very very fine, but when I do get it right I can do some fairly impressive lines. My other brushes are Iwata, SBS with a .35 needle and an HP-C with a .3 so the difference is significant. I have never tried a Micron so I cant compare it to one. The only issue Ive had is the machining on the inside of the bowl could be more smooth, sometimes I really really really have to clean to get the paint off the sides. Great brush IMO worth the price all day long. Great video, I haven't seen a more thorough breakdown, thank you.

      Many thanks for your comment, feedback and kind words on my video. You raise a great point, I waited almost 10years before I purchased a Micron and it was amazing as I could really get the performance out of it, regardless of which brand I always recommend to my students to get an airbrush that they feel is comfortable in their hands and will serve their purpose. From what I can see so far from the Creos is that it’s just another great option for the consumer, I look forward to really putting it to the test and create some art with it....but so far I’m impressed 👍🏻

    Hi mate, hope you are okay. Really interesting to see this and particularly the full breakdown and assembly. Having a micron I was interested to find out exactly how this compares. My 0.18 is expensive, particularly replacing parts, needles, etc. Out of interest, would the main front end components of this fit into a micron, are they a lot cheaper to buy? Seems to me that it doesnt really matter what the main bulk of an airbrush is (within reason), its all down to the head components and the quality of engineering they have. Iwata are very expensive I think, when considering the current market place. Its high time there was real competition from products like this review. This is still a fairly large outlay but cheaper than iwata, even when trying to buy one from the UK (we suffer from import customs duties AND VAT). If the needle and complete head assembly would fit into my micron, and there is a supplier to sell the parts, AND the prices for spares was sensible (unlike iwata's) then I would be interested to keep my microns body and fit these Japanese parts. So go on... try and stick the parts from this on your micron! let us know :)

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  4 года назад

      Hi Phil thanks for your message, I haven’t personally tried the parts in my Micron as yet , but I have heard they fit...I will need to try myself and put the airbrush through its paces to be 100% sure.
      This is the most expensive GSI Creos model there are cheaper versions as well 👍🏻
      Hope that helps mate all the best glad you enjoyed the video 😉

      As it has been widely documented, these airbrushes are all made in the same factory in Japan working for all the major brands of the country and they share many parts. A bit of research is needed to be sure the right part is compatible with your airbrush. Unfortunately, if you live in Europe, it's easier to find Iwata parts than Mr Hobby ones :/

    I dont understand why the cup is so large when the needle is so small. Its really idiotic that you cannot remove the cup. What is the point with a fine detail needle if you cant see what you are painting on youre model kit.

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  2 года назад +1

      I understand totally, these brushes are also really popular for automotive art where generally you need larger amounts of paint as the detail you are creating is usually over a multitude of murals. That said, I would LOVE for them to bring this out in a side feed as I have my iwata micron side feed however they are SO pricey now 😱

    So as we talked before I bought an ABEST micro. Still trying to learn it as I have never used one. How much do you have to reduce the paint for optimal flow? Still having a hard time. You stated 70/30 is 80/20 too thin or could I go 90/10? Great video by the way. Might look into getting one of these.

    • @johnhenry7097
      @johnhenry7097 4 года назад +2

      Dennis Scott you have to strain your paint. Remove the impurities that are causing the major clogging problems. My eclipse went from no control to pencil thin lines consistently after I started straining my paint.

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  4 года назад

      Thanks Dennis for your comment and kind words re my video, as Jake mentioned straining your paint will definitely help. If you are just starting out generally I recommend a 1:1 mixing ratio for brands like Trident or Createx, making the paint thinner will also make it harder to control so keep that in mind if you are new to Airbrushing and don’t have the control as yet . Also, try adjusting your psi (increasing it) this can help to allow paint to flow if it’s a little too thick.

    Don't like the connected aux lever, my CM-C+ is a V1 converted to a V2, and I prefer the separate aux lever, with the notched guide with the bottom screw, compared to my V2 CM-SB with the connected lever. How's the wall thickness on the nozzle compared to your actual Microns? If the nozzles & head assembly are comparable that would be a huge savings over an iwata "matched" head.

      NO, not fair enough. Badger makes crap. If you want a quality brush you go Japan or Germany. It all depends on what you end use is. If you're fogging in terrain and background then go for Badger, if you're doing fine art you're really going to want an Iwata or one of these, which is clearly made in the Iwata factory anyway.
