I would like to say the reason the u.s. has so many highly modified rigs is not that parts are less expensive but rather in most states you don't need to inspect your truck for safety... a guy in his driveway can swap axles and large tires and even cut and weld the frame with out doing larger brakes and still drive on the road with no worries. So most off roaders here in the states do their own labor so we have more beans left over to buy more parts lol
I live in the USA and I built my 1987 Ford Ranger mostly from parts out of other vehicles in the junkyard. The engine is from a foxbody, the transmission and transfer case from an f250, the rear axle from an explorer, a second petrol tank from a bronco II, etc. I think our availability of parts is way higher because of the sheer number of vehicles we have on the road.

I’m from the USA, I live in Colorado, I have a 2001 3rd gen 4Runner with a 3 inch toytec boss lift and a 1 inch body lift. It is on 35 inch maxxis razr Mts, it has a rear locker, roof rack, light bar, front bumper with pod lights, I have a CO2 tank, and a lot of other things. I think Colorado has so pretty gnarly trails, they are a lot of fun. If y’all ever come out to the USA, I highly recommend the trails here in Colorado
Long story short: While I was living in Canada Alberta (Calgary), I finished my high schooling there, as an aussie, I found it fun seeing all the massive rams and fords, yet found them to be really nice inside and incredibly big for everyday driving, it was only until the winter season that II realized that when snow was falling on all the roads, every car had to have snow tires, all wheel drive and chains inside their car. The Canadian pitchmen roads were all a four wheel drive track. I had a lot of fun with some friends of mine, being able to do donuts in the school or mountain carparks, and your could tell the tourist from the locals very easily as tourist didn't know about the tires or chains, so they would always be the ones stuck in a ditch or side of the road. I will always say that aus 4wd tracks are superior, but when snow falls everyday in Canada, I've gotta say, every road up their is a 4wd track!!!
@Gary B Toyota and Nissan sell the same 4x4 in Canada and Australia. Tacoma and Tundra are made in north America. There are land cruisers and patrols here. Old Pajero too. Jeep Ford Bronco. Etc Sure Mods are superior in Australia but there are after Market companies in Canada too. We make ATV, snowmobiles by bombardier CanAm and make airplanes in Canada.

@@jamezxh Mahindras are cheap as dirt and they have excellent warrenties. I haven’t ever had a mahindra in an convoy on a track so I don’t know hoe capable they are offroad. They do seem quite reliable aswell I won’t buy one tho, I’m a Mitsubishi fan boy at heart. Toyotas are overrated and overpriced so just out of spite I’d probably own a Mahindra before I have to drive a Toyota 😂

A country you missed is South Africa. I can drive an hour to beaches, sand dunes, mountains and bushes and enjoy lots of tracks. So much to explore here as well and have as much scenery as in Australia.

So I am from South Africa and I have to say we have about any type of terrains within a days drive (Including Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique) so I happy to say we could be in with a shout and we do diesel! Love your show guys keep it going.
I would love to see you guys come over the ditch to New Zealand for 3 to 4 weeks a enjoy our amazing scenery and some time in the future get some old small standard 4wds like a Lada, Jimny, Rocky etc drive them then modify them and show us what they can do

I was shocked that Australia had so many restrictions on their 4wd’s. I love modding my 4wd Tacoma and making it unique. However it does hurt the pocket book.
Western USA !! Graham always say's west is best ! And he is correct!! Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming , Oregon, Montana have so much 4wd opportunities, and epic scenery that will change the soul of even the most seasoned 4wheel enthusiast!! Absolutely love your show 4WD24-7! I believe that I have watched every single episode possible! Australia and of course Frazier Island are defiantly on my bucket list!
One thing I love about the Colorado Rockies is the fact you can go from 5-7000 feet above sea level to 13-14000 feet with amazing alpine lakes and insane 1000 mile views. Being in the center of Colorado is awesome too because you’re in the front range but also only 8 hours away from Moab utah, by far my favorite place to wheel. My 4x4 is a 91 80 series that’s receiving a 350 small block Chevy. It’s in a two inch lift and 35’s with a slee offroad rear bumper and a trail gear prerunner bumper, also has a marks 4wd part time kit in it too. no sliders yet but I still full send
Southern Africa is definitely comparable with Australia. From Kalahari desert to savannah, highveld bush, tropical lowveld, jungle and even Mediterranean climates. Also the animal life is stupendous, as is the massive number of cultures. Its pretty big, but more accessible than Australia.

Growing up in Northern Borneo (Sarawak), the only way to get around back then was either on a Land cruiser or a Twin-otter. Getting into town was always an epic adventure. 4WDing has always been famous throughout the island (Sabah, Sarawak, Kalimantan); gaining popularity initially through necessity, to pleasure and enjoyment today. I'm in the UK and love this channel, the Aussie terrain is amazing, all that space and no hassle from anyone. We are pretty much restricted in where we can go, but it never ceases to amaze me how many guys spend a fortune on mods, and then drive to the supermarket... ha ha!

I’ve had the pleasure of checking out some amazing spots in Australia including Fraser Island, but for tough tracks the US takes it, the sheer diversity of landscapes and technical tracks from places like Moab Utah, California, Colorado, and Arizona to name a few, coupled with almost no restrictions on modifications(in most places) is hard to beat. I will say that there is definitely a larger 4WD culture in Australia though, where as in the States it’s more common to see a wrangler on 37’s going to Starbucks than out on the trails. The 4WD 24/7 crew should definitely do a US trip, you guys would love it.
Totally agree with everything you said. I would be interested to see if the Aussie vehicles can do the Rubicon trail. Not great for utes I'd imagine. They could hire some Wranglers maybe.

Agree with Reinard in South-Africa we have exactly the same trucks from FJ45 land cruisers to the mighty 300 series . My personal favorite is my 79 series V8 diesel singel cab fitted with full iron man suspension , bullbar and tow bar , stage 2 software upgrade , 4terain heavy duty clutch, 3inch stailess exhaust system , lightforce htx lights and warn 12000lbs winch . The terain is tough from mountains , desert , coast line , bush , snow and loads of mudd . Camping and 4x4ing is a big thing and very remote. I think Aus as a country is very much similar to South Africa. I just love you show keep it up guys !!! Cheers
I reccon where Australia shines is that it ticks so many boxes. Remoteness, vehicles (diversity) tracks, culture. Whilst yes, you can find these in the rest of the world, and often other countries do them better, none other is as good at everything. If only we had better modification laws.
@@outonthetracks Yes there is snow in the high country but we can't match the sheer amount of snow they get in North America or the ease of access to it. I so miss a good winter drive. Am planning to try to get access to it in the high country next year.
As an American living in oz, I gotta agree the 4wding is unmatched here. The sheer amount of trails and diversity is insane and you’ve really hit the nail saying y’all are born into it, it’s a serious culture here and that’s why I’m never leaving haha
Idk about diversity, the states has glaciers, sand dunes and swamps in the same country. However it seems that offroading is more mainstream in AUS and more of a necessity.
I really enjoyed this episode fellas. You should do more of these collaboration with other 4WD social media personalities from all over the world. As for gear, I think North America has far more variety that AUS. We have pioneering and impressive locally made products that are world class, but nothing beats Nth America for variety. I have an LC80 and despite this model having sold in low numbers in North America, I am envious with the variety of aftermarket gear and accessories that's available for it over there, compared to what's available for it here in AUS. Plus they are not afraid to push the envelope when it comes to the design of them neither. So far, IMO the best looking front bar, rear bar and roof rack systems that I've seen for my LC80 are all from the USA. Unfortunately the current exchange rate and cost of shipping to AUS at the moment is what's stopping me getting them. Anyway, do more of these WW collaboration episodes. 👍

What a fantastic range of comments and examples of off-roading in other parts of the world. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Alpine areas but watching Dirt Every Day and TFL truck and off-road has shown me that desert areas offer a different option but one that is equally fun.
No f#*kin mud through all the underbody, gotta say I'd have a go at wheeling Arizona, Baja or Colorado. Rather straighten out one rock bashed panel than spend hours chasing my tail hosing out mud!
It would be so insanely cool to see you do some 4wd in the US! I can just imagine how much of a blast you guys would have wheeling around some of the spots we love here!
I've noticed in Russian off-road videos a great selection of State side rigs as well as the European and Aussie market available. That means right next to a turbo diesel Nissan patrol you might see a Toyota Tacoma or tundra. I've also noticed more strictly regulated laws regarding vehicle modifications outside of the US. For instance, we can do all sorts of interesting swaps of axles, suspension designs, engines and transmissions, lift heights and tire sizes without ever causing the vehicles to become illegal. I certainly appreciate that

As an Aussie who’s lived in Canada, the US and New Zealand. I’d say their trails are easily as impressive as Australia. But, I’d have to say Australian 4x4’s on average are a much higher quality and a broader variety also. Australia’s laws and rules are a lot more strict compared to the rest of the world though… (well Victoria at least)
I would probably say Australia is the best 4x4 country if it weren't for the crazy stupid modification and travel restrictions imposed by the government.
Overlanding is more like a demonstration to oneself of equipment capabilities, whereas proper offroading/4x4ing generally is over a longer period and has purpose.
After my trip to the USA we drove in a van from death valley 855m below sea level to Mammoth which is an alpine ski town, it blew my mind. Definitely want to tour USA in a forbie one day but first I have to do Australia 🇦🇺
It's actually 86 meters below sea level. But California is a wonder! Like you said with diversity; you can get from the lowest point in the lower 48's (Death Valley) to the highest point (Mount Whitney, which sits at 15,505ft or 4,725m) in just over two hours.
I grew up in the Northeast Washington and Northwest Idaho area and have now lived in Southeast Queensland for 15 years. Both countries are vastly different but offer some of the best 4x4 or 4WD trails and tracks in the world. No where else would compare to these two countries and as for modifications it is what you can afford and what you want to do weather that is rock climbing, overlanding or beach driving. Great content from the Shaun and Graham once again, we all appreciate the work you all do with the channel.
Indonesia has a variety of off-road tracks ranging from light to heavy (the toughest mostly mud and clay mud) ... in my opinion, Australia has off-road tracks with a level of difficulty similar to Indonesia...thumbs up for your awesome video 4WD 24-7!

@@mheradiranto6110 My friend overseas said they prefer IFS than live axle and use tractor style tyres like the simtex/silverstones and predominantly use paj,challenger,triton etc etc all ifs stuff mostly, and surprisingly a lot of diesels.

I know it's an old video but I started driving in Colorado legally at 15 years old. No restrictions, and I had a 76 Chevy Custom Deluxe on 36" with a 8" lift. Now you can talk terrain all the time but I registered that truck with a salvage title and without seatbelts, mismatched trans, motor, and frame numbers. Straight pipes, and no gauges. Absolute terror to the road but fun as being able to make a project like that and not have to worry about fines or tickets (for rego).

I really hope you guys decide to come overseas. What you have in Aus is amazing engineers and guys who build to the highest quality everywhere. Where as in say Europe or Africa it is a lot harder to build a proper 4x4. I would love to invite you guys to come on a mission in Africa or Europe and see some of our epic landscapes animals and tracks.
Morocco is also pretty awesome for 4-wheeling. You can drive through snow in the high Atlas. In the Middle Atlas, you can drive through beautiful cedar forests. You can drive through the desert in the Sahara. And there are some awesome beaches that you can drive along (e.g. Plage Blanche - White Beach). The biggest threat are not the Touareg or animals like scorpions or snakes but rather the average WhatsApp-writing-while-driving-Toyota-Corolla-driver that you will usually not meet off-road.
In northern Iraq's mountain region, Land Cruisers and Land Rovers, are in such high demand that they -in many cases- can be the only car you can drive due to rugged unpaved roads and rocky terrain. The same for the southwestern desert regions where it is just SAND everywhere! How about the Arabian\Persian gulf region? Dubai guys go offroading often ... and I will be going on one such trip with friends next year. Russia is another place where offroading is common and they even build their own trucks and specialty vehicles ... I live in California BTW.
I'm an Aussie living in the mountains in Colorado, I just picked up a 6.4L v8 Hemi Jeep Rubicon. Premium unleaded here is still about $1 per litre. I owe it to my teenage self to grab a V8 and enjoy the roar. She's on 37s with a 2.5 inch spacer lift and runs at highway speeds easily. She's $77k brand new and does about 14 litres per 100km. The amount of 4x4ing and camping here is vast, I'm surrounded by the snowy mountains of Colorado but just west is the deserts of Utah.
Brent (North Carolina, USA) I think just from watching you guys, you DEFINITLY have better 4 Wheel tracks then us, based purely on the fact that there is just more places you can ride. We are VERY limited on what beaches if any that we can ride on as well as public land. There are a few but on the east coast of US there is not near as many public places you can ride. That being said you make the best of what you have, all or any 4 wheeling is AWESOME!!!!!
I must admit, the west side of the USA looked amazing, especially the grand canyon. I've always put other destinations ahead of America but that highlight package genuinely sparked my interest.
Check out litebrite here on RUclips. One thing that is really nice is our modification laws. 40 inch tires are pretty normal in the grand scheme of things here in the US. We lack in remoteness though. And our mountains are killer, check out black bear pass and imogene pass
I drove the South Island of NZ for 3 weeks in a van during winter. It was 10 degrees, no wind whatsoever, clear skies. The landscape there is seriously stunning. The lakes are amazing and you have the snow topped mountains in the background. Then you are driving through beautiful farm land until the next town. You can turn a corner and the next thing you have a huge mountain right in front of you. I was dying to get off the road onto some of the dirt but I had a rwd Hiace with 4 different brands of tyre each corner and with the altitude felt like I had 10hp. The guy from Europe made a good point, would love to go country to country. Also, the deserts and canyons in the US look incredible. I think no matter what we drive or what location we still share the same attitude which is the main thing.
I really enjoy episodes like this that bring our offroading world community together to share our unique experiences. While the channel is uniquely Australian focused, to allow the world to show us what they have, share mods which allows us to expand our view and perhaps even bucket list outside our borders. Hope you decide to do more of these videos in the future.
4:32 listening to this sounds exactly like Southern California! We have the Pacific Ocean nestled right into a mountain range (San Bernardino National Forest) where we have places like Big Bear mountain to play in the rocks, and Johnson Valley desert right near by for some desert running/camping. Within a few hours are the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains which offer some of the most incredible views in the world (and there’s plenty of snow). If we want to hit the Arizona/Utah/Nevada terrain, that’s only a few hours drive away as well. I think it’s the best place for owning a 4x4, but i am super interested in all the Australian rigs and terrain as well.
The American West/ South West is hard to beat, arguably the most beautiful place on earth from what I've seen, if you ask me. Would love to visit one day. Greetings from Norway.

I've lived in BC and Alberta in Canada and the the modification laws are no where near as strict as Australia. No engineering required. Basically keep your lighting to regulations and keep your wheels covered and you are good. Of course there is a bit more to it than that, but nothing so strict as Aus. We also have a wide variety of terrain, from snowy mountains, to arid desert regions in the southern interior of BC. Kind of lacking the beach driving Australia offers though.
Hey guys, big fan here, you’re forgetting South America, depending on the country, one of the most insane tracks on the planet, different kinds of weather due to all sorts of altitudes, changing driving conditioning in just short periods of time. Same as Australia in some places we can go in one day from Snow to huge Deserts, all kind of rivers, mud, etc. Beautiful landscapes, probably not as safe as Australia but still a lot of fun. Back there we probably have the same or maybe a wider range of 4x4s to choose from due to the conditions, but there is one thing that I’m with you guys 100% is that there is no place in the world that has the 4x4 rigs, modifications, creativity, quality and beauty like we have here in Australia. Thank you boys and keep it up.
As a person from America I would say that we have everything you have in Australia. As far as four-wheel driving goes. The only thing we don't have is mid-size diesel vehicles. We only have big ones. They're just now starting to come out with some midsize diesels, we don't have any for Toyota or Nissan.
Have you owned a 4x4 and lived in both? If not your #1 and #2 means sweet fck all 😁 I have, and can say when it comes to pure 4x4ing (as in bumping along bush tracks from remote campsite to remote campsite) Australia wins hands down and no, you do NOT have "lots of diesels" compared to Australia - not even close. 3% of the cars in the US are diesel compared to over 26% in Australia. That being said some of the scenery in USA is straight up spectacular in ways Australia can't compete with, but you can experience a lot more of that without the need of a 4x4. In Australia no 4x4 means you can't even get remotely close to these places, because there are simply no humans out there. For example Texas is 1/4 the size of Western Australia but has more than 10x the population. USA wins hands down for vehicle and spare part costs!
You definitely have an amazing country, the fact you can go bush for so long and not need to use any black top roads makes me jealous in England we’re not that lucky, saying that we can still have a great time with are family and friends, I do think are trucks are on par but we just don’t set up for touring as much, just enjoy what you have where ever you are in the world, main thing is just get out there and enjoy it.
G Shock test idea would be to strap it to a spinning shaft like a tail or driveshaft, for a certain distance... see how it withstands the forces involved as well as the dirt. You could also hang it up inside a wheel arch, test the hinge pins and wristband by having it dangling behind the tire near the mudflap
Moved to Switzerland from Australia 6 months ago. Sold my landcruiser in Australia and am now waiting for my Dmax to arrive any day. Can’t wait to explore European 4wd tracks but must say places like Fraser Island are hard to beat. When you’re over here let’s go on a trip!
As a Canadian I think you have everyone beat with the amount of land the public can get onto, I know here, a lot of the roads are gated by logging companies, who have had public land sold to them by the government, that being said we probably have the best high altitude 4WDing in the world other than maybe some parts of Colorado, but I can drive 1hour from the beach and be at the top of some pretty big mountains and our laws for modding are pretty lax as long as you meet the basics
My brother in law has always had a 4bie. My husband and 1 drive his up to QLD (Australia) when I was pregnant (climbing in and out wasn’t fun 🤣). Fast forward to 2020 we took on our niece so we upgraded from a 5 seater to an 8 seater and got a 2001 LX470 Lexus to accommodate for her (she took off back to her mums) but we have taken the Lexus on some tracks in South Australia. I will never ever go back to a sedan. 4bie all the way. Wish we had done it sooner. Thanks for another great beers in the shed video.
I wonder how the 4wd in Japan is. They do a great job of making capable vehicles, so you would assume they have the terrain to test them. I haven’t heard much about it though.
Japanese cars learned or copied most of their features and technologies from other countries. Also, many older cars had really crappy parts that you had to swap with ones from other brands to make the car useful.
y’all make a point about the affordability of after market truck parts in the US and I’ll say that here in the south and out west, modifying your vehicle, offroader or not, is extremely popular. there are a lot of parts available and a lot of shops producing custom offroad parts. a lot of people also do the work themselves, as a hobby and a point of pride.
Having grown up in Southern Utah, USA, I've got to put a vote in for you guys to visit there if you're ever able to travel. I promise you will not regret it!!
Gday lads how’s it going, how does a Subaru brumby sound. I think it would a fun time and a bit of a challenge. The little rigs are light, sound good, have dual range 4x4, small so it would be able to get through the tightest tracks (1.6m wide) and they aren’t that expensive.

Australia's trails are incredible because it's so empty and you can drive/camp anywhere you want with no one around. However the mods, crawling, and wide variety of landscapes are awesome in the US. Come to California 4wd247! We will treat you right and take you out for a southwest tour of Utah, Arizona, and Colorado Also please fix up and drive a little jeep TJ! I guarantee you guys will fall in love with it

I have been around Australia and you are right its an off-roading paradise, but its missing the sand dunes of the middle east and North Africa , the sand dunes and the desert are a lot of fun and full of surprises

i would say new zealand because we got the same 4x4's as Australia and you can go from a beach with no people on it to a valley surrounded with big mountains with no people around within about 2-3 hours
Here in the US we have very relaxed laws on vehicles and modifications so unless you live in commi-fornia you can do just about anything you want if you buy DOT (department of transportation) tires Australia has the best locations, but the US has MOAB and baja(thanks mexico) Diesel isn't popular in the US because they are heavily regulated from the factory and there is always a gas station nearby and they have dependable fuel quality. Gasoline is also popular here because our rigs tend to be bigger and heavier and gas gets more power for less weight
I wouldn’t even worry about DOT unless you live in a state that has an inspection. I’m from Florida and just about anything goes. I’ve got non-DOT approved beadlocks on my Jeep. Neighbors got 52 inch tires on his daily driver.
California is actually super lax as far as mods go aside from emissions. No annual safety inspections like some states have. Tons of modified vehicles there.
As a Pommie who has family in Oz I traveled around in 2001/02 in a 60 series it was amazing. Manly touring but some big tracks with my cousin and his mates you blokes are lucky. Space is the key along with the amazing landscapes
here in the us you can get your offroad mods insured up to a certain amount but yeah dealing with insurance after something happens is more of a pain then it should be
I have visited to Eastern Australia and live in Western USA. I have been off-roading for many years. Australia has more open free space than the USA, but I would argue that there is more diverse off-roading in the USA. We do covet your Diesel engine options for sure. In fact I have been able to procure a Perentie 110 with a blaaady Eyezuzu motah.
Good luck trying to break those watches boys. I have a gshock mudman. I’ve had it since 2013. I was doing an axle swap on my 2003 f250 and the axle slid off the jacks as we were sliding them into place and pinned my hand against the jack with the axle setting on top of it. My watch took the blunt of it all. It jacked up my hand pretty good. The watch face got bent up pretty bad. But it still works and is water tight. Definitely made me a believer in them!
My father's GShock saved his hand. He has an military issue watch he was issued used to wear it all the time. Using a chop saw all day brought the saw down on his watch. The watch still worked but saved him from loosing his hand. Great watches.
I think that 4WD 24-7 should have an international event like the old Camel trophy adventures where teams from around the world could rally from a point A to B somewhere really off roadie. Maybe like Peterson's offroad Ultimate Adventrure. oh BTW, Let's Go Brandon!
For the watch test, I'd do a surf and turf test. Surf: fresh and saltwater, emersion in fresh and salty water - from a dingy/boat fishing and/or your 4WD (e.g. getting recovery gear mid-stream), Turf: dust and sand, mud and bog-holes -many scenarios would incorporate this, also test it in the shower. If it passes all that it is almost indestructible! Cheers.
I think the USA has the most heavily modified vehicles, but Australia definitely has the most functional and utilised modifications the out vehicles and from what I’ve seen and heard this is the reason why we innovate the aftermarket industry here in aus. Either way let’s all get out there and enjoy!
No such thing as a place with best 4wds. Needs and conditions are different everywhere so a truck that’s set up for Aus may not work in a Russia etc. Nonetheless you guys I think own 4wd content that’s for sure. Great team of blokes 🤙🏻
I'm Jamaican in the UK...4WD is very respected in Jamaica, but we don't have a lot of trails. Farm truck Land Cruiser vs Patrol G60 is a must must do. Can't wait to see it.
Here in Switzerland, we're about running out of space, so the nature we have is quite strictly protected. You might find some gravel roads in the mountains that go pretty high up to the alpine pastures, but as a car person you will mostly enjoy the paved winding alpine passes. Registration rules here are quite strict too, your tires have to be completely covered up by the fenders, all exhaust mods need papers. I'm not in the business of offroading, but the people I know will be driving on established gravel mountain roads and they have found interest in some surrounding countries (which you will reach from anywhere within about four hours Autobahn driving). You'd certainly look far and wide for any sort of deep mud pits, extreme river crossings or serious rock crawling.
Would love to see what Graham Shauno and Jock could do if the went to the states bought a 4wd and rigged it up for a trip. Shanuos US cooking specials would be incredible 😂
you guys need a v2 of this episode where you bring in south america, central america, and Africa. I want to see what everyone is driving! In Costa Rica, sure some people have crazy Land Cruisers and what not, but everyone outside of the city is off-roading on a daily basis. Water crossings & crazy thick mud are the norm, even if you only have a Civic. People that off-road in a regular car (because they have to and it's all they can afford) get way more props that people driving $100,000 rigs

What is missing is Iceland we have been modifying jeeps since about 1970 and many of the mods we have been doing are now being used as standards in many countrys in europe! Here we dont have any restrictions on tyre size we have a fair bit on 38-46" tyres and we dont do it the us way and lift the body up high like a skyscraper but we cut metal instead! You cant do mods unless doing a mod inspection! Google 4x4 driving in iceland and formula offroad started here and is now a huge sport all over the world ;)

I would like to say the reason the u.s. has so many highly modified rigs is not that parts are less expensive but rather in most states you don't need to inspect your truck for safety... a guy in his driveway can swap axles and large tires and even cut and weld the frame with out doing larger brakes and still drive on the road with no worries. So most off roaders here in the states do their own labor so we have more beans left over to buy more parts lol

I live in the USA and I built my 1987 Ford Ranger mostly from parts out of other vehicles in the junkyard. The engine is from a foxbody, the transmission and transfer case from an f250, the rear axle from an explorer, a second petrol tank from a bronco II, etc. I think our availability of parts is way higher because of the sheer number of vehicles we have on the road.

I’m from the USA, I live in Colorado, I have a 2001 3rd gen 4Runner with a 3 inch toytec boss lift and a 1 inch body lift. It is on 35 inch maxxis razr Mts, it has a rear locker, roof rack, light bar, front bumper with pod lights, I have a CO2 tank, and a lot of other things. I think Colorado has so pretty gnarly trails, they are a lot of fun. If y’all ever come out to the USA, I highly recommend the trails here in Colorado
Long story short: While I was living in Canada Alberta (Calgary), I finished my high schooling there, as an aussie, I found it fun seeing all the massive rams and fords, yet found them to be really nice inside and incredibly big for everyday driving, it was only until the winter season that II realized that when snow was falling on all the roads, every car had to have snow tires, all wheel drive and chains inside their car. The Canadian pitchmen roads were all a four wheel drive track. I had a lot of fun with some friends of mine, being able to do donuts in the school or mountain carparks, and your could tell the tourist from the locals very easily as tourist didn't know about the tires or chains, so they would always be the ones stuck in a ditch or side of the road.
I will always say that aus 4wd tracks are superior, but when snow falls everyday in Canada, I've gotta say, every road up their is a 4wd track!!!
@Gary B Toyota and Nissan sell the same 4x4 in Canada and Australia. Tacoma and Tundra are made in north America. There are land cruisers and patrols here. Old Pajero too. Jeep Ford Bronco. Etc Sure Mods are superior in Australia but there are after Market companies in Canada too. We make ATV, snowmobiles by bombardier CanAm and make airplanes in Canada.

A country you missed is South Africa. I can drive an hour to beaches, sand dunes, mountains and bushes and enjoy lots of tracks. So much to explore here as well and have as much scenery as in Australia.

So I am from South Africa and I have to say we have about any type of terrains within a days drive (Including Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique) so I happy to say we could be in with a shout and we do diesel! Love your show guys keep it going.

I was shocked that Australia had so many restrictions on their 4wd’s. I love modding my 4wd Tacoma and making it unique. However it does hurt the pocket book.
Western USA !! Graham always say's west is best ! And he is correct!! Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming , Oregon, Montana have so much 4wd opportunities, and epic scenery that will change the soul of even the most seasoned 4wheel enthusiast!! Absolutely love your show 4WD24-7! I believe that I have watched every single episode possible! Australia and of course Frazier Island are defiantly on my bucket list!
One thing I love about the Colorado Rockies is the fact you can go from 5-7000 feet above sea level to 13-14000 feet with amazing alpine lakes and insane 1000 mile views. Being in the center of Colorado is awesome too because you’re in the front range but also only 8 hours away from Moab utah, by far my favorite place to wheel. My 4x4 is a 91 80 series that’s receiving a 350 small block Chevy. It’s in a two inch lift and 35’s with a slee offroad rear bumper and a trail gear prerunner bumper, also has a marks 4wd part time kit in it too. no sliders yet but I still full send

Southern Africa is definitely comparable with Australia. From Kalahari desert to savannah, highveld bush, tropical lowveld, jungle and even Mediterranean climates. Also the animal life is stupendous, as is the massive number of cultures. Its pretty big, but more accessible than Australia.

Growing up in Northern Borneo (Sarawak), the only way to get around back then was either on a Land cruiser or a Twin-otter. Getting into town was always an epic adventure. 4WDing has always been famous throughout the island (Sabah, Sarawak, Kalimantan); gaining popularity initially through necessity, to pleasure and enjoyment today. Would be awesome to watch Shauno, Jocko and Graham go across the ditch and do a collab with the chick from NZ. It's great watching the boys but I think the girls would give them a run for their money!
I'm in the UK and love this channel, the Aussie terrain is amazing, all that space and no hassle from anyone. We are pretty much restricted in where we can go, but it never ceases to amaze me how many guys spend a fortune on mods, and then drive to the supermarket... ha ha!

I’ve had the pleasure of checking out some amazing spots in Australia including Fraser Island, but for tough tracks the US takes it, the sheer diversity of landscapes and technical tracks from places like Moab Utah, California, Colorado, and Arizona to name a few, coupled with almost no restrictions on modifications(in most places) is hard to beat.
I will say that there is definitely a larger 4WD culture in Australia though, where as in the States it’s more common to see a wrangler on 37’s going to Starbucks than out on the trails.
The 4WD 24/7 crew should definitely do a US trip, you guys would love it.
Totally agree with everything you said. I would be interested to see if the Aussie vehicles can do the Rubicon trail. Not great for utes I'd imagine. They could hire some Wranglers maybe.

Agree with Reinard in South-Africa we have exactly the same trucks from FJ45 land cruisers to the mighty 300 series . My personal favorite is my 79 series V8 diesel singel cab fitted with full iron man suspension , bullbar and tow bar , stage 2 software upgrade , 4terain heavy duty clutch, 3inch stailess exhaust system , lightforce htx lights and warn 12000lbs winch . The terain is tough from mountains , desert , coast line , bush , snow and loads of mudd . Camping and 4x4ing is a big thing and very remote. I think Aus as a country is very much similar to South Africa. I just love you show keep it up guys !!! Cheers
I reccon where Australia shines is that it ticks so many boxes. Remoteness, vehicles (diversity) tracks, culture. Whilst yes, you can find these in the rest of the world, and often other countries do them better, none other is as good at everything. If only we had better modification laws.
One main thing aussies lack is winter 4wheeling. Its a whole different ball game in freezing temprature

As an American living in oz, I gotta agree the 4wding is unmatched here. The sheer amount of trails and diversity is insane and you’ve really hit the nail saying y’all are born into it, it’s a serious culture here and that’s why I’m never leaving haha

Idk about diversity, the states has glaciers, sand dunes and swamps in the same country. However it seems that offroading is more mainstream in AUS and more of a necessity.
I really enjoyed this episode fellas. You should do more of these collaboration with other 4WD social media personalities from all over the world. As for gear, I think North America has far more variety that AUS. We have pioneering and impressive locally made products that are world class, but nothing beats Nth America for variety. I have an LC80 and despite this model having sold in low numbers in North America, I am envious with the variety of aftermarket gear and accessories that's available for it over there, compared to what's available for it here in AUS. Plus they are not afraid to push the envelope when it comes to the design of them neither. So far, IMO the best looking front bar, rear bar and roof rack systems that I've seen for my LC80 are all from the USA. Unfortunately the current exchange rate and cost of shipping to AUS at the moment is what's stopping me getting them. Anyway, do more of these WW collaboration episodes. 👍

I’ve always had a soft spot for the Alpine areas but watching Dirt Every Day and TFL truck and off-road has shown me that desert areas offer a different option but one that is equally fun.
No f#*kin mud through all the underbody, gotta say I'd have a go at wheeling Arizona, Baja or Colorado. Rather straighten out one rock bashed panel than spend hours chasing my tail hosing out mud!

I've noticed in Russian off-road videos a great selection of State side rigs as well as the European and Aussie market available. That means right next to a turbo diesel Nissan patrol you might see a Toyota Tacoma or tundra.
I've also noticed more strictly regulated laws regarding vehicle modifications outside of the US. For instance, we can do all sorts of interesting swaps of axles, suspension designs, engines and transmissions, lift heights and tire sizes without ever causing the vehicles to become illegal. I certainly appreciate that

As an Aussie who’s lived in Canada, the US and New Zealand. I’d say their trails are easily as impressive as Australia. But, I’d have to say Australian 4x4’s on average are a much higher quality and a broader variety also. Australia’s laws and rules are a lot more strict compared to the rest of the world though… (well Victoria at least)

Overlanding is more like a demonstration to oneself of equipment capabilities, whereas proper offroading/4x4ing generally is over a longer period and has purpose.

After my trip to the USA we drove in a van from death valley 855m below sea level to Mammoth which is an alpine ski town, it blew my mind. Definitely want to tour USA in a forbie one day but first I have to do Australia 🇦🇺
It's actually 86 meters below sea level. But California is a wonder! Like you said with diversity; you can get from the lowest point in the lower 48's (Death Valley) to the highest point (Mount Whitney, which sits at 15,505ft or 4,725m) in just over two hours.
I have always thought that it would be a hell of a watch to see you guys head to another country and so a series of episodes!
I grew up in the Northeast Washington and Northwest Idaho area and have now lived in Southeast Queensland for 15 years. Both countries are vastly different but offer some of the best 4x4 or 4WD trails and tracks in the world. No where else would compare to these two countries and as for modifications it is what you can afford and what you want to do weather that is rock climbing, overlanding or beach driving. Great content from the Shaun and Graham once again, we all appreciate the work you all do with the channel.
Indonesia has a variety of off-road tracks ranging from light to heavy (the toughest mostly mud and clay mud) ... in my opinion, Australia has off-road tracks with a level of difficulty similar to Indonesia...thumbs up for your awesome video 4WD 24-7!

@@mheradiranto6110 My friend overseas said they prefer IFS than live axle and use tractor style tyres like the simtex/silverstones and predominantly use paj,challenger,triton etc etc all ifs stuff mostly, and surprisingly a lot of diesels.

As an American with a qualifier I lived in Brisbane briefly. You can't beat the Australian 4wd community, maybe South Africa a close second.

I know it's an old video but I started driving in Colorado legally at 15 years old. No restrictions, and I had a 76 Chevy Custom Deluxe on 36" with a 8" lift. Now you can talk terrain all the time but I registered that truck with a salvage title and without seatbelts, mismatched trans, motor, and frame numbers. Straight pipes, and no gauges. Absolute terror to the road but fun as being able to make a project like that and not have to worry about fines or tickets (for rego).

I really hope you guys decide to come overseas. What you have in Aus is amazing engineers and guys who build to the highest quality everywhere. Where as in say Europe or Africa it is a lot harder to build a proper 4x4. I would love to invite you guys to come on a mission in Africa or Europe and see some of our epic landscapes animals and tracks.
Morocco is also pretty awesome for 4-wheeling. You can drive through snow in the high Atlas. In the Middle Atlas, you can drive through beautiful cedar forests. You can drive through the desert in the Sahara. And there are some awesome beaches that you can drive along (e.g. Plage Blanche - White Beach). The biggest threat are not the Touareg or animals like scorpions or snakes but rather the average WhatsApp-writing-while-driving-Toyota-Corolla-driver that you will usually not meet off-road.
How’s renting 4x4s in Morocco? I’ve heard some horror stories, unfortunately… I’d love to check out the Atlas and western Sahara
In northern Iraq's mountain region, Land Cruisers and Land Rovers, are in such high demand that they -in many cases- can be the only car you can drive due to rugged unpaved roads and rocky terrain. The same for the southwestern desert regions where it is just SAND everywhere!
How about the Arabian\Persian gulf region? Dubai guys go offroading often ... and I will be going on one such trip with friends next year. Russia is another place where offroading is common and they even build their own trucks and specialty vehicles ... I live in California BTW.
I'm an Aussie living in the mountains in Colorado, I just picked up a 6.4L v8 Hemi Jeep Rubicon. Premium unleaded here is still about $1 per litre. I owe it to my teenage self to grab a V8 and enjoy the roar. She's on 37s with a 2.5 inch spacer lift and runs at highway speeds easily. She's $77k brand new and does about 14 litres per 100km.
The amount of 4x4ing and camping here is vast, I'm surrounded by the snowy mountains of Colorado but just west is the deserts of Utah.
We need to get them over here in the USA. They would be in shock at how big we are and what we have here.

Brent (North Carolina, USA) I think just from watching you guys, you DEFINITLY have better 4 Wheel tracks then us,
based purely on the fact that there is just more places you can ride. We are VERY limited on what beaches
if any that we can ride on as well as public land. There are a few but on the east coast of US there is not near as many
public places you can ride. That being said you make the best of what you have, all or any 4 wheeling is AWESOME!!!!!
I live in Colorado and I think we have a pretty good argument for having some of the best 4 wheel drive trails in the world

I must admit, the west side of the USA looked amazing, especially the grand canyon. I've always put other destinations ahead of America but that highlight package genuinely sparked my interest.

One thing that is really nice is our modification laws. 40 inch tires are pretty normal in the grand scheme of things here in the US. We lack in remoteness though. And our mountains are killer, check out black bear pass and imogene pass

I drove the South Island of NZ for 3 weeks in a van during winter. It was 10 degrees, no wind whatsoever, clear skies. The landscape there is seriously stunning. The lakes are amazing and you have the snow topped mountains in the background. Then you are driving through beautiful farm land until the next town. You can turn a corner and the next thing you have a huge mountain right in front of you. I was dying to get off the road onto some of the dirt but I had a rwd Hiace with 4 different brands of tyre each corner and with the altitude felt like I had 10hp. The guy from Europe made a good point, would love to go country to country. Also, the deserts and canyons in the US look incredible. I think no matter what we drive or what location we still share the same attitude which is the main thing.
I really enjoy episodes like this that bring our offroading world community together to share our unique experiences. While the channel is uniquely Australian focused, to allow the world to show us what they have, share mods which allows us to expand our view and perhaps even bucket list outside our borders. Hope you decide to do more of these videos in the future.
4:32 listening to this sounds exactly like Southern California! We have the Pacific Ocean nestled right into a mountain range (San Bernardino National Forest) where we have places like Big Bear mountain to play in the rocks, and Johnson Valley desert right near by for some desert running/camping. Within a few hours are the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains which offer some of the most incredible views in the world (and there’s plenty of snow). If we want to hit the Arizona/Utah/Nevada terrain, that’s only a few hours drive away as well. I think it’s the best place for owning a 4x4, but i am super interested in all the Australian rigs and terrain as well.
The American West/ South West is hard to beat, arguably the most beautiful place on earth from what I've seen, if you ask me. Would love to visit one day. Greetings from Norway.

I've lived in BC and Alberta in Canada and the the modification laws are no where near as strict as Australia. No engineering required. Basically keep your lighting to regulations and keep your wheels covered and you are good. Of course there is a bit more to it than that, but nothing so strict as Aus.
We also have a wide variety of terrain, from snowy mountains, to arid desert regions in the southern interior of BC. Kind of lacking the beach driving Australia offers though.

Hey guys, big fan here, you’re forgetting South America, depending on the country, one of the most insane tracks on the planet, different kinds of weather due to all sorts of altitudes, changing driving conditioning in just short periods of time. Same as Australia in some places we can go in one day from Snow to huge Deserts, all kind of rivers, mud, etc. Beautiful landscapes, probably not as safe as Australia but still a lot of fun. Back there we probably have the same or maybe a wider range of 4x4s to choose from due to the conditions, but there is one thing that I’m with you guys 100% is that there is no place in the world that has the 4x4 rigs, modifications, creativity, quality and beauty like we have here in Australia. Thank you boys and keep it up.
As a person from America I would say that we have everything you have in Australia. As far as four-wheel driving goes. The only thing we don't have is mid-size diesel vehicles. We only have big ones. They're just now starting to come out with some midsize diesels, we don't have any for Toyota or Nissan.
USA 🇺🇸 all the way… we have lots of diesels and gas rigs ranging from full size to super compact crawlers. Australia is my #2.
Have you owned a 4x4 and lived in both? If not your #1 and #2 means sweet fck all 😁 I have, and can say when it comes to pure 4x4ing (as in bumping along bush tracks from remote campsite to remote campsite) Australia wins hands down and no, you do NOT have "lots of diesels" compared to Australia - not even close. 3% of the cars in the US are diesel compared to over 26% in Australia.
That being said some of the scenery in USA is straight up spectacular in ways Australia can't compete with, but you can experience a lot more of that without the need of a 4x4. In Australia no 4x4 means you can't even get remotely close to these places, because there are simply no humans out there. For example Texas is 1/4 the size of Western Australia but has more than 10x the population.
USA wins hands down for vehicle and spare part costs!
You definitely have an amazing country, the fact you can go bush for so long and not need to use any black top roads makes me jealous in England we’re not that lucky, saying that we can still have a great time with are family and friends, I do think are trucks are on par but we just don’t set up for touring as much, just enjoy what you have where ever you are in the world, main thing is just get out there and enjoy it.
G Shock test idea would be to strap it to a spinning shaft like a tail or driveshaft, for a certain distance... see how it withstands the forces involved as well as the dirt. You could also hang it up inside a wheel arch, test the hinge pins and wristband by having it dangling behind the tire near the mudflap
Moved to Switzerland from Australia 6 months ago. Sold my landcruiser in Australia and am now waiting for my Dmax to arrive any day. Can’t wait to explore European 4wd tracks but must say places like Fraser Island are hard to beat. When you’re over here let’s go on a trip!
Get down to Spain its an off road paradise
As a Canadian I think you have everyone beat with the amount of land the public can get onto, I know here, a lot of the roads are gated by logging companies, who have had public land sold to them by the government, that being said we probably have the best high altitude 4WDing in the world other than maybe some parts of Colorado, but I can drive 1hour from the beach and be at the top of some pretty big mountains and our laws for modding are pretty lax as long as you meet the basics
My brother in law has always had a 4bie. My husband and 1 drive his up to QLD (Australia) when I was pregnant (climbing in and out wasn’t fun 🤣). Fast forward to 2020 we took on our niece so we upgraded from a 5 seater to an 8 seater and got a 2001 LX470 Lexus to accommodate for her (she took off back to her mums) but we have taken the Lexus on some tracks in South Australia. I will never ever go back to a sedan. 4bie all the way. Wish we had done it sooner.

I wonder how the 4wd in Japan is. They do a great job of making capable vehicles, so you would assume they have the terrain to test them. I haven’t heard much about it though.
Japanese cars learned or copied most of their features and technologies from other countries. Also, many older cars had really crappy parts that you had to swap with ones from other brands to make the car useful.

y’all make a point about the affordability of after market truck parts in the US and I’ll say that here in the south and out west, modifying your vehicle, offroader or not, is extremely popular. there are a lot of parts available and a lot of shops producing custom offroad parts. a lot of people also do the work themselves, as a hobby and a point of pride.
Having grown up in Southern Utah, USA, I've got to put a vote in for you guys to visit there if you're ever able to travel. I promise you will not regret it!!
Gday lads how’s it going, how does a Subaru brumby sound. I think it would a fun time and a bit of a challenge. The little rigs are light, sound good, have dual range 4x4, small so it would be able to get through the tightest tracks (1.6m wide) and they aren’t that expensive.
Western USA has been on the bucket list for 4wding for around 5 years, would love to ship my GU over and spend a few months just seeing how lost I could get
Australia's trails are incredible because it's so empty and you can drive/camp anywhere you want with no one around. However the mods, crawling, and wide variety of landscapes are awesome in the US. Come to California 4wd247! We will treat you right and take you out for a southwest tour of Utah, Arizona, and Colorado

I have been around Australia and you are right its an off-roading paradise, but its missing the sand dunes of the middle east and North Africa , the sand dunes and the desert are a lot of fun and full of surprises

i would say new zealand because we got the same 4x4's as Australia and you can go from a beach with no people on it to a valley surrounded with big mountains with no people around within about 2-3 hours

Here in the US we have very relaxed laws on vehicles and modifications so unless you live in commi-fornia you can do just about anything you want if you buy DOT (department of transportation) tires
Australia has the best locations, but the US has MOAB and baja(thanks mexico)
Diesel isn't popular in the US because they are heavily regulated from the factory and there is always a gas station nearby and they have dependable fuel quality. Gasoline is also popular here because our rigs tend to be bigger and heavier and gas gets more power for less weight
I wouldn’t even worry about DOT unless you live in a state that has an inspection. I’m from Florida and just about anything goes. I’ve got non-DOT approved beadlocks on my Jeep. Neighbors got 52 inch tires on his daily driver.
California is actually super lax as far as mods go aside from emissions. No annual safety inspections like some states have. Tons of modified vehicles there.
Southern Africa has absolutely amazing adventure routes.

I have visited to Eastern Australia and live in Western USA. I have been off-roading for many years. Australia has more open free space than the USA, but I would argue that there is more diverse off-roading in the USA. We do covet your Diesel engine options for sure. In fact I have been able to procure a Perentie 110 with a blaaady Eyezuzu motah.
Would be sick if you guys did a series where 4WD 24-7 takes on the world before circling back to Australia.

Good luck trying to break those watches boys. I have a gshock mudman. I’ve had it since 2013. I was doing an axle swap on my 2003 f250 and the axle slid off the jacks as we were sliding them into place and pinned my hand against the jack with the axle setting on top of it. My watch took the blunt of it all. It jacked up my hand pretty good. The watch face got bent up pretty bad. But it still works and is water tight. Definitely made me a believer in them!
My father's GShock saved his hand. He has an military issue watch he was issued used to wear it all the time. Using a chop saw all day brought the saw down on his watch. The watch still worked but saved him from loosing his hand. Great watches.
I think that 4WD 24-7 should have an international event like the old Camel trophy adventures where teams from around the world could rally from a point A to B somewhere really off roadie. Maybe like Peterson's offroad Ultimate Adventrure. oh BTW, Let's Go Brandon!

Am a Toyota guy, but I just witnessed the 49 limping in the Simpson and the G 60 walking tall! I just can’t wait for the next challenge
For the watch test, I'd do a surf and turf test. Surf: fresh and saltwater, emersion in fresh and salty water - from a dingy/boat fishing and/or your 4WD (e.g. getting recovery gear mid-stream), Turf: dust and sand, mud and bog-holes -many scenarios would incorporate this, also test it in the shower. If it passes all that it is almost indestructible! Cheers.

I think the USA has the most heavily modified vehicles, but Australia definitely has the most functional and utilised modifications the out vehicles and from what I’ve seen and heard this is the reason why we innovate the aftermarket industry here in aus.

No such thing as a place with best 4wds. Needs and conditions are different everywhere so a truck that’s set up for Aus may not work in a Russia etc. Nonetheless you guys I think own 4wd content that’s for sure. Great team of blokes 🤙🏻
I'm Jamaican in the UK...4WD is very respected in Jamaica, but we don't have a lot of trails. Farm truck Land Cruiser vs Patrol G60 is a must must do. Can't wait to see it.
Here in Switzerland, we're about running out of space, so the nature we have is quite strictly protected. You might find some gravel roads in the mountains that go pretty high up to the alpine pastures, but as a car person you will mostly enjoy the paved winding alpine passes. Registration rules here are quite strict too, your tires have to be completely covered up by the fenders, all exhaust mods need papers. I'm not in the business of offroading, but the people I know will be driving on established gravel mountain roads and they have found interest in some surrounding countries (which you will reach from anywhere within about four hours Autobahn driving). You'd certainly look far and wide for any sort of deep mud pits, extreme river crossings or serious rock crawling.
Would love to see what Graham Shauno and Jock could do if the went to the states bought a 4wd and rigged it up for a trip. Shanuos US cooking specials would be incredible 😂

you guys need a v2 of this episode where you bring in south america, central america, and Africa. I want to see what everyone is driving! In Costa Rica, sure some people have crazy Land Cruisers and what not, but everyone outside of the city is off-roading on a daily basis. Water crossings & crazy thick mud are the norm, even if you only have a Civic. People that off-road in a regular car (because they have to and it's all they can afford) get way more props that people driving $100,000 rigs
So glad y’all did this would really love to see y’all visit other countries and wheel around the world! Especially the U.S. I definitely agree tho y’all have THE best rigs you can get around the world, I’d give anything to have access to the landcruisers, patrols, Suzuki’s all the goodys.
What is missing is Iceland we have been modifying jeeps since about 1970 and many of the mods we have been doing are now being used as standards in many countrys in europe! Here we dont have any restrictions on tyre size we have a fair bit on 38-46" tyres and we dont do it the us way and lift the body up high like a skyscraper but we cut metal instead! You cant do mods unless doing a mod inspection! Google 4x4 driving in iceland and formula offroad started here and is now a huge sport all over the world ;)
