    Constantly buffering foreward-foreward in neutral to make sure you won't miss a drive rush is just a pain in the back (in the wrist, actually). Capcom just saved my carpal tunnel, this is 100% a good change.

      I am mixed/negative but not torn up about the changes happening right before evo. Cool that it potentially creates a showground for the new character and tech but this is supposed to be the years premier tournament. I am not as hardcore of a player so I think everything still feels fresh and I want to see the best matches possible. Too much "content" too fast it feels like we are blowing our load, slow it down and let it build towards the next evo! This would be the perfect place to showcase rashiid matches from pros to advertise him. I also have no finger on the pulse what do others think?

    • @harrylane4
      @harrylane4 Год назад +3

      It’s as fair as EVO says it needs to be. Their previous trend for SF has been one week bans, rashid will be more than a week old at that point.

    • @TenjinZekken
      @TenjinZekken Год назад

      It'll be interesting to see how fast people can adapt. One of the things with new characters is that it's so much easier to know what to do on the character, than it is to know what to do against one. However, the best players won't be losing to any pools level Rashids, and by the time they get to tournament stage, if there's still Rashids in, good players will have had enough time to be able to at least adapt on the fly.

    Being able to buffer drive cancel is huge. I’m a stick player and all I could think about in training mode was how much easier this game is for hitbox players. In a moment of frustration I started playing on keyboard to confirm my arcade stick frustration and keyboard was easier. That being said, it is essentially the same technique as fadc from sf4 and no one complained back then.

    • @DJayPhresh

      This game was the reason I bought a hitbox. It's not even here yet, and then this change was announced lmao

    • @vincentn872
      @vincentn872 Год назад +18

      There is a big difference in the context of doing the inputs, FADC would normally be done after a reversal or mid combo instead of in neutral. FADC was much harder to do, but the context of it made it less difficult if that makes sense. SF4 was generally more difficult in execution with true 1 frame links and I think of instead of complaining, people just didn't play lol.

    • @TruthAndReconciliation
      @TruthAndReconciliation Год назад +24

      @@vincentn872 The difference in SF4 is that the skill floor was ridiculously high. In SF6 there are a couple mechanics that might be tricky for new players, but they can still play the game mostly. In SF4, doing basic 3-4 hit punishes had a learning curve 😂. The reason people didn’t complain about input difficulty in SF4 is because it was only played BY people who had good execution.

    Been playing the series since SF2 on the Super-Nintendo, but it kinda lost me with the focus dash cancel stuff in 4... it acted essentially as a soft cap for the skill I had; what I was willing and capable to learn and execute.
    This change allows me to at least attempt to advance play, by making it as simple as possible for my old ass brain.
    I don't need Street Fighter to be complicated and hard to play... the relative simplicity is what I like, because I at least still understand it and I can have fun with it... even online against randoms.

    Doing lows into drive rush cancel consistent was the big thing missing from my SF6 bag I felt like. Inputting double forward after most normals was fine for like the first 20ish matches of the day but any longer and my hand barely wants to play anymore. This hand fatigue is a major reason I started playing modern controls to help feel better while playing more games. This change will help even more that’s a W in my book. Now I still think the fact ppl are inputting drive cancel into every normal they throw praying it connects so they can start some damage is still kinda lame. The jab spamming in my games already felt like scrub neutral now it will be every game played even for the lower ranks lol

  • @loneone559

    drive rush cancel should be negative on block for 90% of normal moves. the free pressure you get from just hitting drive rush cancel is braindead. yea you lose 3 bars but if you continue to keep up that pressure and force the opponent to block, you recover at least 2 bars by the time you're done. especially if you land a tick throw

The people who are grinding and prepping were going to do that anyway. This is a change for arcade stick, you can develop serious RSI with the current forward forward requirement when you physically have to move a lever. My take is that unless Capcom are still working on balancing the core combat system of the game behind the scenes and this is just a bandaid for helping out stick owners then personally I think Capcom wants drive rush to be the main combat approach in the game which eventually will split the playerbase when only the dedicated players remain, that playerbase is going to decide if they want green slimer in their Street Fighter or not. This change cements Capcoms outlook on the games future if this isn't just a bandaid patch.
    So far in my experience as a Guile main I don't want the entire experience to be green slimer as it currently is, this QOL could change my opinion on it more positively but I don't enjoy unga bunga play and never will. This is just a perspective of a player who enjoys clear reads more than a battle of who can press a button faster, whos eyes can read frames faster in a match. I like SF2 Turbo and SF4 and those games despite how unga bunga they can be I could play my game still because the chaos didn't happen every single match due to character match ups and the main meter starting at 0 every match.

    I was struggling so much to do Manon's BnB, just because of how slow I was doing 2mp into 656, this was putting a wall on my neutral and made me struggle a lot just because of the input of the DR. This was very frustrating haha, and I was thinking about a simpler input for a DR. I am glad they're making that change

    It only says you have to be in neutral or holding forward, it doesn't specify if charge drops? Or is that the implication that when DR activates, charge is fully negated? I'm really curious to see if a charge character will be able to use this for the technique where, for example, Guile buffers a charge, releases down, hits LK, then presses up and K to get a flash kick. Will they be able to plink the input into the parry macro and get a DR'd sonic boom?

  • @MilkyNep

    I will really never understand why so many people are against dash macros (let's be real here, this is just a dash macro that only works in a specific situation)
    It was the same thing with Strive too. Pressing forward twice several times a match with relatively tight precision isn't hard. It's annoying.

    Man I've been arguing nonstop with people about this change, because so many seem to think this change is going to drastically change balancing for some reason?
    This is not going to make anything new possible as far as what's happening in the game, it just keeps you from blowing out your wrist trying to dash cancel light normals with tight cancel windows, and makes it more consistent.
    Everyone was already buffering dash cancels into cancelable pokes for OS, it's not changing shit lol

    A bit of a pisser to throw EVO players for a loop like this, though I must admit that the new input does look alot better and most importantly more ergonomic, something I do legitimately consider when thinking about video game execution, especially as someone with subpar fine motor skills.

    Fighting games should not make all their decisions revolving around tournament play cause the high majority of players do not enter or even care about those tournaments. It’s about the masses not the few. Sold 2 mil copies and a few thousand will enter evo at most and out of those thousand only a couple hundred tops even have the slightest chance of making a dent in the crowd. It’s not all about the RUclipsrs.

    As an avid viewer of fighting game tournaments I love this sometimes the game gets stale seeing the same characters with the same strategy and combos. Spicing up the bracket and getting the chance to see who can adjust quickly makes it interesting for me the viewer.
    I do however understand how the people playing feel it’s unfair.

    I don't really care about the havoc it'll do to tournament brackets, but they are missing a huge opportunity to do the new character launch LIVE on the evo stage to give all the people at home a new toy while all the eyeballs are pointing at the same place. Free advertising for a thing they're charging money for.
