Its weird, it did a pc drive impact side switch combo with Jamie against me which is a pretty rare combo. But it also drops combos and doesnt spend meter to kill.
It misses the context of certain habits. Sometimes I backup slightly as Cammy when my opponent is cornered. Naturally they really want to leave the corner and take a step or two forward, then I catch them off guard with a light spiral arrow. The Sim-Sim just assumes I toss out random light spiral arrows in the middle of the stage. 😂
Oh thats disappointing, from my limited AI knowledge thren im assuming that the AI doesnt exactly see how far into the shtreage it is, or how much life it has either, i hope they improve it because Virtua Fighter 4s AI washntre bad at all from what ive read.
@@SimoneBellomonte There's a strong human element to fighting games that I feel like an AI will never really get because it cannot put itself in the opponent's head. Like, I could use light-punch, then grab. Then I'll do it twice more in the match. When their HP is low I'll throw a light-punch, knowing they'll expect a grab, I instead take a step back, they mistakenly grab the air, and I use a strong punch to punish them.. something like that an AI really wouldn't do. I was surprised Sim-Sim used my Cammy's throw-loop, followed by a shimmy though. 😂

I notice the V-Rivals do a lot of random shimmies at random ranges and at random times. I wonder if it's like they know that something is happening with that, but not the context.
I noticed that the reaction of these V-Rivals is too good in for example whiff punishing almost everything. But the core gameplan is quite bad, which makes it not so difficult to beat those at any difficulty. It may be good for a short warmup, but I would not recommend to use it as a core training surface to become better against players. Because one of the most important parts that is missing through V-Rivals are the mindgames. V-Rivals have no gameplan at all and are most of the times always playing the same style once you have seen it.
@@RuLeZ1988 It comes down to the fact that they can't make adjustments within a round or a game, I think. It's built on what people have done, but not why. And it can't adjust on the fly.
@@Kasaaz Exactly. Each new genereated V-Rival might be different, but as soon as you figured out one V-Rival during a match, they won't for example start jumping less, even though I anti-air every single one and their difficulty is on MASTER. A real Master Player would at some point try something different, and as you already mentioned adjust on the fly.
Random v-rival isn't an average of master players, it's surely an individual player or a smaller cluster of them, because they are very, very different in both skill and play style. Luke not throwing sand blasts might be because the player used doesn't throw sand blasts. If you fought ten different Lukes, they'd do different things, some of them would spam sand blasts a lot.
Seems very similar to Tekken's equivalent. It replicates some tendencies - sequences you tend to do, which moves you like to use, etc. but does not take context into account, so it just throws out random moves you like to do rather than play your gameplan.
I'm also not a fan of how you have to hit a certain number of mirror matches in order to get a detailed v-rival. Low-tier mains will never have a detailed v-rival lol
I want to remind everyone that if AI wanted to, it could simply body all of us in every fighting game ever with very rudimentary algorithms; it would be able to react to every move, perfect-parry everything, utilize all of its best punishes, and have perfect execution, every single time. The difficulty in creating fighting game AI is not creating one that's hard to beat, it's creating one that's hard to beat while also being *fair.*
My random semi-informed guess from having programmed a fighting game CPU once or twice is that it probably just takes the training data and basic CPU behavior (which has a set of probabilities to use specific sequences of inputs depending on its position relative to you and the current states of both players), and assigns new parameters, probabilities, and input sequences based on what it sees in the training data. It still won't be able to learn mindgames or adapt, so it's probably more like if the developers created the base-game CPUs with several years of extra foresight on how players would be using each character rather than a truly lifelike opponent
The ai is decent. It's a better moving target than the regular CPU, but it still has abusable stuff. Like it rarely blocks safe jumps. I used it to learn Terry before hopping online and I think it's solid for practicing a new character before hopping online.
the thing about the normal vrivals us the master ones will level up when if you keep beating them so one and dones are pointless, its really annoying to get them to actually try

I feel like this is a feature that's going to be expanded upon as more data gets fed into it. As for the mirror matches i guess it kinda makes sense because an ai wouldn't understand where matchup data is relevant, all it would see is the actions you take without knowing why or the context behind them, mix that in with character specific strategies for the entire cast and the AI would barely function.
