❤Crystal, I am in the middle of your shell blanket of a year ago. It’s so easy and also beautiful. I was taught to crochet by my mother when I was ten years old. Gave it up when I had to earn a living. Now I’m 86 and it makes my day. Your creations are so beautiful and so easy. I want you to know how much I appreciate you and your endeavors! Thank you!!❤
@@wendyhannan2454 just picked up crocheting again after many many years. I asked myself one thing WHY did you stop? Its not only relaxing, keeps the mind stimulated and the world out for a min
@@jamilahabdalrahman5180 Well done, glad you picked it up again. I think it went out of fashion for a time. Then family stopped having babies, as I made a heap of baby blankets. Now I have a great granddaughter, that’s when I thought I’d pick it up again. I really forgot how to do the shell edging 🤔 I agree it’s good for the brain, and good for the hands and wrists, and it’s rewarding looking at the finished product. Thanks for the Tutorial 🙏 watching from down under, Australia 🇦🇺🐨
Perfect timing!!! I think that a handmade baby blanket is the BEST GIFT for a new baby!!! Your sister is going to LOVE ❤️ it!!! Congratulations Auntie!!! (I know "auntie" isn't correct, but I don't know what you'd really be to the new baby!!!" TFS!! Austin TX USA
Love the thought that Mr. BOD will pick out yarn for you. My husband wouldn't do that as he thinks I have to much yarn. My thought you never have enough yarn. Happy Mother's DAY Crystal.
I've only started crocheting about 2 weeks ago. I made this blanket and it was so quick and easy. It's a great pattern for a beginner like me. Thanks for the great instruction.
I started crocheting a couple of weeks ago. Very basic stitches. I wanted to make something beyond swatches and came across this. It's beautiful. I really struggled and nearly threw the towel in but i slowed it down to quarter speed and it became a lot clearer. My first row is gnarly to say the least but i'm just perfecting the stitch before i start it properly. Can't wait! Super effective with such simple stitches.❤ Update: 22jan22 i mastered the stitches on my swatch and began my project (my first ever) yesterday. It's a wrap/shawl. Looks absolutely fabulous so far. It looks complicated whilst being simple enough for a beginner to do. I could never get on with knitting. I'm loving crochet. Thanks for the video❤
That periwinkle colored yarn has got to be my personal favorite color! Thank you for a very clear and easy tutorial. It is remarkable how a truly simple pair of stitches makes a gorgeous texture. I just discovered your channel, so, yay!
I began learning to crochet this summer via RUclips and decided it was time to advance beyond single crochet… found this video and it is the perfect segue to something a little more challenging… now I cannot STOP! I love this pattern. Thank you.
Hi Crystal. Who would believe that such basic stitches combined would create such beautiful texture and design. So pretty. You have been working very hard at these tutorials. I appreciate all the work you put into your channel and yarnie peeps. Stay well Crystal.
I just laid down and thought I'd look at some of the videos that I missed and I started with this one. I watched the whole thing then saved it, which is what I usually do, but I want to get up NOW and start one - a little bigger. So guess what I'm doing this weekend!!
I just love this pattern! I just whizzed right through this project. I completed it in no time at all. I did add a wide border all the way around it to pull it all together and stabilize it. Thank you for this tutorial!!!!
So far I've done 5 blankets for Christmas Gifts. And I've done borders on all of them just because, , I love this pattern, great to watch movies or say prayers when crouching this blanket, thank you Crystal!
I don't know how you do it Crystal, but you never cease to amaze me with your beautiful patterns!! Your brain must be going constantly and we get to reap the benefits :) Thanks so much for another beautiful pattern!!!
I remember Crystal saying that she doesn’t like to make blankets, so this was a very nice surprise! Totally making this with a smaller hook and my new mandala yarn!
Crystal is on a roll! She is coming up with some AWESOME designs!!! I am currently crocheting her latest crochet white wrap/shawl. It is so gorgeous!!!! I know I wont be able to stop making them till I have made over 10 of them! This blanket looks absolutely gorgeous also!

Crystal you are a bad influence on me... I started this blanket LOL I will probably not have enough yarn to finish I will have to make it in a couple of colors or it will be a bit small LOL I can't resist baby stuff. My niece had a baby boy recently so I have some blue yarn we will just have to hope LOL
I enjoyed watching that tutorial and decided to make this baby blanket. Really enjoyed this stitch and enjoyed crocheting this blanket. Thank you Crystal.
Hi Crystal. You have a natural ability to teach which makes your projects so easy to follow. I have learnt so much from your tutorials that I can crochet very well. Thank you so much. 🙏❤️
You’ve done it again Crystal. The details are breathtaking. I watched the entire video on my big tv & it was magnificent. I’m knitting Shae a purple blanket & she so excited watching us both make the blanket. Your so talented Crystal & I love everything that you make🧶🌈🥰💞💋💐
Thank you for posting this pattern. I'm making one for a Christmas gift for our adult son. It's working up really pretty with such a nice texture. I'm thrilled. With the repeat pattern I can crochet and watch netflix at the same time. Thanks.
I’m loving this pattern, so easy and quick! Great stitch for making burp cloths, blankets, clothes or anything! I’m starting a blanket now 🥰 Thank you Crystal!
Just finished a baby blanket using this pattern and about to start another one that will be bigger for an adult. Thank you for making tutorials. I save ones I want to make to watch later as I am making each project and it has helped me so much.
Thank you for your tutorial. It was so easy to followed and understand as a beginners myself. 🥰 Your blanket came out beautifully! I love that color! I can’t wait to start my blanket now. Thank you again!
When I had my first baby,he woke me up screaming really badly. I ran to his crib Couldn't find anything wrong at all. Then I looked at his little hands. One of them was purple. He had wound his fingers around a hole in his blanket. Poor little man. I never used a blanket with holes again in bed. Only if I had him in my arms. It does matter.
Thank you so much Crystal! I've never made a blanket but always desired how. Now I can sit down and take my time to make one in remembrance of my mom. Not sure if I'll get through it but I'm sure gonna try. Thanks again.
Oh my gosh, I am a beginner at 73. I was about to give up. Been through many videos. Thank you thank you for giving me hope and confidence to continue on. Something about your way is the way to go for me. Can't wait to see the rest of your videos. Thanks again!
I made 2 blankets with this pattern, I love it! It's like cotton candy or clouds.I used 2 Lion Brand Pound of love skeins each, one pink for my granddaughter and one blue for my grandson. Thanks for showcasing this pattern in your tutorial! ✌☮☘

Thank you Crystal - another lovely blanket pattern. I’ve just decided to make some more 24” baby blankets for Princess Evelina at St Thomas’s hospital SCBU in London and this is perfect. Just think how far your patterns travel!
Thank you Crystal for this! What a great tutorial! I'm only a beginner but I managed to make such a lovely blanket following this. So pleased and so grateful to you. Love your channel and you are wonderful!
I used a similar pattern for baby afghans years & years ago but had forgotten it. Thanks for the demonstration. It’s simple to do yet elegant in appearance. It’s an easy pattern to sit & watch TV.
My grandmother taught me this stitch so long ago. It is one of my favorite and works up so quick. Thanks for the video and reminding me about this stitch.
I've made several items using this stitch now but today I'm using it for a male scarf. I'm using Cascade Yarns, Luminosa in color 15 (kind of bronzy), and it is GORGEOUS!!! This stitch almost highlights the "highlights" in the Luminosa so it really shines. Thank you so much, Crystal!
@@nalinigsankar3072 I honestly couldn't tell you. I usually don't "measure" my scarves... I just make them about the size of "store-bought" scarves. Roughly I start with 25'ish chains, depending on the stitch I'm using. Then I just make it long enough to wrap around the neck and hang down a bit. LOL, sorry I'm not more exact. After almost 50 years of crocheting, I've learned to not be afraid to experiment. If you see a stitch you like, just play with it (using an easy to "frog" yarn in the weight you plan to use- "frog" means rip it out) until you like what you get, then do it again with any yarn you like of the same weight (DK, worsted/eran, bulky, etc).
I really admire the way you do your tutorials . This pattern is so beautiful when it’s made up into a blanket yet grey for beginners on up. The color of the yarn is so pretty too. Can’t believe I don’t have it in my Caron stash lol 😂 ordering now! Blessings and thank you for all you do ♥️

Oh Crystal! What a gorgeous blanket! I really thought that this was going to be so much more difficult. You explained this so well. This is one that I will have to try! I LOVE it!
I am making this as a large blanket right now for a gift and it is gorgeous! I am using a beautiful burgundy yarn from Europe. I can't remember if you are okay with me calling out yarn brands or not, so I'm not going to say the brand of yarn... but it is stunning. It's fast, easy, and working up quick! Thank you so much for your pattern.
Hey Crystal you are an awesome teacher. I so love this stitch and the color you chose to make it. I will definitely be making this blanket very soon. You've really taught me a lot about different yarns. You are my favorite person to watch for sure. I do have a request from you if possible. For several months I've tried to find a video on RUclips to help me make standard pillow shams to match a blanket I made for my bed. I used the granny stripe stitch. I've been trying to figure it out myself but not having much luck yet. I'm really surprised there really aren't any videos on making shams for a bed. There seem to be all kinds of videos for every other size of pillows to make. Why not for regular shams you take in and out? I thought there would be lots of videos for how to do it. Who wouldn't want matching shams for blankets. I would be so grateful for your help if possible. Please let me know if you can help me out. Thank you for everything you do. Again you are awesome. 😊
I can't believe how clearly and easily you describe the steps to complete any of these projects! You make me think that I can do any of them, and I'm off to try this blanket right now! Thank you!!
You can add chains by putting your hook into the first chain then work a few new ones in the opposite direction...or you can take some off by just unthreading the beginning tail. Some times you can just count wrong and it sucks to take that whole foundation row out
I did this a lot as well. I decided to have multiple wins going and none are the same!!!! I have clothing, dish rags, shawls, and so on,different weight yarns...because the having a choice is much nicer than throwing it in a corner never to be seen again. Options are my favorite thing ever!!! This has made it much nicer to see a finished product no matter which gets done first. I also never do super big projects until I have a serious reason to. I keep them small projects for a quicker completion and see how beautiful it became to give me more will to continue. I hope that helps you😃just please don’t give up you will be so proud of yourself I promise...keep it small then grown into bigger things..I get bored easily 🤷♀️🤦♀️🤗💕good luck but remember to have fun❤️
This is the most beautiful simple pattern I have ever seen. I've been looking for new stitches to make face cloth/makeup remover for myself and saw this video. Even with peaches & cream cotton it's beautiful. This will definitely be my next baby blanket!!
I love this pattern. I struggle sometimes keeping my stitch count on things that have really long rows. This pattern makes it super obvious where I should be. Thank you for the very well made and super helpful video.
I love it when you say skip, skip or however many skips we need! Then I repeat it to myself. ☺️
I do too, it helps so much.

You can add chains by putting your hook into the first chain then work a few new ones in the opposite direction...or you can take some off by just unthreading the beginning tail. Some times you can just count wrong and it sucks to take that whole foundation row out
I get excited to start a project but then I end up giving up. 😭😩
@@pattypierce2772 thank you I will continue trying small projects and work my way up. 😊
