Illumination confirmed.
The minions?
Oh man, been looking forward to more DIY projects :)
Dude this is awesome!
Caleb, I love these videos when you are making things, have made a couple of your mods and I have gone straight online and ordered all the components to make this light. Please, please, please keep these coming. Thanks as always, an avid watcher all the way from across the pond in the UK.
Caleb you seriously make some of the best content on youtube. Love love love.
That eyelight is awesome. Illuminati confirminatti.
Huge thanks for posting this! I am in the process of making one for myself right now. I cut three 24" 1x2s to make a triangle for the frame that I painted white to make the edges bounce some light. Tomorrow will be soldering and assembly!
AWESOME! I love these types of DIY projects. And I appreciate all of the links too. Keep them coming!
I totally LOVE this light.
Dope DIY project, as always! Cool to see that you have some (geometric) options when building your own.
Simply awesome.
Hi! I like that you not only talk about great stuff but you can make something on your own and show it to everybody in a nice way! I always find your videos helpful even though I don't really shoot much videos but there's nothing wrong in knowing more! Keep it up
LOVE THIS!! Me and my partner were thinking about making some light stuff ourselves. Thank you!!
This video was absolutely phenomenal!!! Thank you!I'd love to see an LED light in the shape of a circle :D
Caleb, your video uploads are gems, and this DIY entry does not disappoint. More please! :-) -Peter B.
This is great, keep the build tutorials coming.
That eyelight is bloody ridiculous.. love it!
Now make the triforce from Zelda. hahah. Ultimate Version 3.
Ha! Nice!
yes, please more DIY stuff
This is AMAZING! You saved me some cash. Really love this triangle light. Having one made. Thank you!!!
Good job
This was very helpful & interesting 🔼
Very nice! Thanks for sharing this info!
This was great. Would like to see more DIY videos!
How about "light tubes?" You could take a clear tube and put LEDs at either end of it. Maybe you've got an idea for it? Hang them from ceilings, mount them to walls etc. Might be cool for interesting videos to add a lot of depth.
Awesome project!!! Thanks for sharing!
Thank for watching Logan!
I realize this is old, but keep the DIY stuff coming! F'ing live for diy projects...
2:31 In this tutorial Caleb shows us how to cut your finger off
Ha!
Lol!
Please please please more DIY lights! Thank you sir!
So good!
nice video! unique triangle light. thanks for sharing
i saw the 1590 casing that i used to build guitar pedal :) bring back memories
Outstanding!
Exactly what I was looking for exactly when I needed it.
But I'm going to build mine in an "X".....so everyone looks like a cartoon! Xo)P
And yes, by all means...more diy goodies like this!
Thank You!!!
I love creativity and home diy in photography, great idea and video
u doin a great job ,
Awesome tutorial Caleb you should really do more
Awesome build, would like more DIY
Great power solution! I used a remote control LED controller on a light I made and unless it's at 100% it flickers under camera which blows. I definitely prefer your idea!
thanks for sharing man..
great stuff
Woow ! That stuff is so dope !
Thanks for sharing! Unfortunatly it doesn't fit with my outdoor video.. Maybe i will start to do a really nice studio like you!
Rise funny i just saw you over at peter mckinnon's video😂 seeing how you like some nice channels can you recommend any other
hi Amber, you can check mine =)
Hi Amber, you can check mine =)
Rise you just got a new sub😜
Rise But how about teaching channels?
inspired. thx
Amazing
My god! Those triangles in your eyes look kind of creepy lol. Another great video!
Great tutorial video, but I agree that the triangle catch lights are odd. I imagine that if you did the same thing, but had more sides (perhaps 6 or 8) that it would be much less obvious. A bit more work, but not excessive.
Nice helpful tips sir I will make a same for my setup soon
Thanks for the idea :). Am I Right to assume that the power option with the USB Powerbank is limited to 12W, since most single USB ports are limited to a maximum of 2.4A (5V)? Does the transformer maybe accept two USB connections for 24W? You mentioned in the comments that the power draw (I assume from the 12V battery) is about 1.3A which hints to a higher wattage than 12W, so with USB power the light should be slightly dimmer?
Hey Caleb can you do a top 5 or top 10 video series for cheap video fluid heads, or monopod video heads. I know there are good review heads like the qzsd video head, the yungteng yt950 I think I saw that in the paper back drop video. It would be great no one else has done a top 5or top10 under $100 video head video. Thanks again. 👍
Awesome. The only thing I would change is that I'd add some sides. Maybe 1"-2" sides that were white on the inside so that you don't have so much spillage. It'll give you a better catch light with the LED's.
Very nice! The eye light looks like something from Predator
I've never seen so creative guy like uh
NIce one! Off to build mine.
amazing and budget friendly. I was planning to do that with three Yn360 LED light you mentioned in another video. But yours are way cheaper.
great work man. i'll be sort of copying this. but probably leaving the cheap remote dimmer that came attached to my light strips lol
the light of the all seeing eye 😮😮😮
awesome and easy
Very nice! Would be cool to scale this up to a bigger and brighter light.
Very dope...
Do more of this! 👍
Awesome
Love the vids , man
Suggestions for doing this with Li-ion batteries instead? They usually are 3.7v, I imagine if you soldered a pack for 3-4 batterys in serial you could get like 11.1-14.8? That would be like 4 batteries with some sort of resistor? if you solder them in parallel instead of serial you can get more mAhs but I don't know enough about resistors for this.
Awesome video Caleb as usual !
do you remember your settings to give us an idea of the possibilities ? (f stop / speed / iso / distance). Thx in advance !
So good! Also, got a gh5 review coming?
Instead of soldering, consider getting the LED connectors that clip on. The clips will allow you to reconfigure the strips into different shapes, squares, pentagons, crosses, etc.
Another idea, use the Philips HUE light strips, more expensive yes, but almost limitless colors and voice control.
Josh Zytkiewicz I was just thinking of something like that!
There a brand you'd recommend? Definitely interested in trying it out this way.
I have used clip on connectors numerous times and all to often they fail to make good connections. A few minutes of solder now will save more than that in frustration in the future.
Well, soldering is more consistant and I wouldn't recommend the hue because they are more "lifestyle" products. Buy high cri led stripes and if you want rgb but white looks cruel on rgb so I wouldn't recommend that. And voice control is totally unnecessary
Awesome! what do i need to have/do if i need to connect this to a track light adapter which has the black/white and the green wire?
This reminds me of @DIYperks !!
More Caleb! Great :)
wow, nice idea, i'll try it myself, looks more easy from the real rings
MOAR videos like this one!!
p.s- dont you need to file down the surface of the aluminum or something so the glue has a less smooth area so it can catch on well?
Just as I thought I had a good idea😂 anyway, great video, love the content
hey man! what are you doing with the reflections of your glasses? it s amazing how successfully you avoid them. Give us some tips!
As about triangle nice idea!!!
that's cool
Would you consider creating an official product for mass distribution? Would make it soooooo much easier for videographers like myself who don't have the time to build it.
Great video and channel man !!!
Say if I wanted to shoot a portrait of a person standing at 1.5 meters (5 feet) from the light. What exposure do you get at max light levels ? Say something like 1/50 @ f/2.8 ?
This is really cool man
Thanks EYC!
I really like the intimate vibe it provides - and having a different shape in the eyeballs is a great point - i keep getting distracted by the ring shapes when watching vids lately haha
I'd love to do this and double-back the joining wires so you could make it collapsible/foldable.
is there flickering when using higher framerates because its a switching dimmer? nice video by the way
How's that Konica 40mm treating you? I use the 50mm f/1.7 a lot. I remember really loving the colours it gave me combined with my Panasonic G6's sensor.
Great Channel! Hey I'm just looking at monopods to use as extension for Gimbal Zhiyun crane - and i found your old Monopod Review - Can you do a new top monopods video - for mirror less and Gimbal use - thanks for the Knowlege. !
good you im going to do it
sick
nice
Do you have any tips for using ring lights while wearing glasses?
Ferry nice👏👏👏👍❤🇮🇩
Good Tutorial. Make a DIY of car dolly slider.
Do make more of those.
So when you where talking about having something different ... my mind went to ---- what about a star shaped light ---- Soooo then what is your opinion about a star shaped light ? Like for a beauty channel ..... Thanks ...I really enjoyed this video..... thanks for sharing .. Shirlene
thank u bro
Thanks Charan!
For wires going in/out of the box I recommend creating a knot so that in case something gets pulled, the knot will stop at the whole that you drilled.
Good point!
hi
how many leds can be used with this 12v battery ? can i make big ring light with this battery (for outdoor night photoshoot ),
thanks
Will this flicker at high frame rates? When dimmed etc?
Hi Caleb! Here is Cris from Rio de Janeiro Brazil. I'm a big fan of DSLRVideoshooter.Thank you for the channel, it helped me so much. I'm in a doubt about which light to choose to make interviews and a documentary. YongNuo YN 216 or Trevor Flexible light FL3030. Both I saw in your reviews. Which one has more output ?
Haha when you say "high CRI" Siri is asking what I want?? 😜😜😜
I'm going to get on this, but what do I use to mount it to a Tripod?
that box reminds me of mxr pedals
Would make a great pedal box!
It looked like on the finished product there was some diffusion on the strips, but you didn't go over it. What did you use, and how did you attach it to the "ring" light?
this is late, but when you buy the LED U Channels from Amazon, there are pictures that show it comes with the "cover". It just slides over the U channel. you'll see the pictures of it when you click on his Amazon link.
at 4:16 NO! that is not all that matters at all! Wire the strips with 3 strips in a series and the two series in a parallel formation.
Illuminati triangle!
wowwww
More please
More!
An easier way would be to use 3 quasar tubes and clamp them together and mount on cstands.
