THANK YOU for one of the most comprehensive BTS videos I've ever seen. Cameras, lenses, lighting and the reasoning for the gear, as well as a cost breakdown. Then there's the little details like how and why you hold the camera the way you do. So good. Thank you very much.
thank you brother for your position on hiring professional actors. I am an actor. I love when the director knows at some point they have to hand it off to the actor. And when a director respects the acting craft as an equal to the craft of a director it is a recipe for a great shoot. Thank you man...for respecting our craft. THAT is a director that knows how to get an authentic moment. bravo brother
Hey Parker, great video. Really appreciate the explanation. Would you mind telling me what boom mic stand setup you are using for the shotgun mic? I've been on the hunt for a good stand setup. Thanks brother.
This is unreal work! Also the best free edutainment content i have ever seen. You are so detailed in your explanations. Thanks man. I'm a new subscriber and I'm loving your work.
AuthenTech - Ben Schmanke Yes, him including budgets and a round about number on where the budget was spent filled a blank cloud in my imagination when it comes to production cost and financial balances. 👌
Couldn't agree more, succinct explanation of a real world project. And "Virtual Job Shadow" is much more aptly named and useful than "Tutorial." Many of which don't give real examples, or just do a "quick and dirty" example.
Installed it myself without any issues. The wifi signal is great even ruclips.net/user/postUgkxE_D_sddGAdiVUKp7PkkmyxO7bRtgqmk5 when the router is located far away. I really enjoy the night vision feature that allows me to see clearly any activity near our house (mostly cars and wild animals). The motion detection is helpful to me as well to monitor what happens on our front.
Parker ! Articulate. Briskly paced. Very informative. If anything makes you stand out, it is the amount of high quality info, per unit of time. In that regard, amount the very best I've seen on RUclips. Almost no one does it that WELL, that FAST --- regardless of topic. Outstanding.
I've never come across a RUclipsr before with so many positive comments on there video's. This is because you easily connect with people and not only produce excellent work but your honesty and passion for your work is infectious, thank you!!
This is just phenomenal! The best BTS VIDEO EVER! Very clear, transparent, detailed breakdown of budget, the game plan, pre-production, Production & Production. Very Grateful for this video! Thank You!!
This channel must go on, it's incredible the amount of details of every aspect of editing and shooting, even the budget that is SUPER important. Thank you for this.
Thank you for including the budget and its breakdown. Details like this can turn what would be a mildly helpful video into an incredible useful video. Great work all around!
This is the first video of yours I've seen, and I immediately subscribed. Love how detailed, and clear the language is in this tutorial. Lots of helpful tips!
Hello Mr. Walbeck, I'm a big fan of yours. I'm from the Philippines and I am very glad I discovered this channel to help me develop my shooting and editing skills. I hope we can meet someday. There are lots of Filipinos who loves your craft as well. Good luck and make more videos for us!
I really respect that you showed us the audio mistake, we all make silly goofs like that at some point and i dont think we should hide them, great way to learn
This video is 2 years old now, and I have watched quite a number of your videos. This video is the one that made me click subscribe. Thank you for breaking down your costs :)
Great RUclips video breaking it all down. But honestly, the actual video was the best part. Great subtle style of commercial, great choice of actors, great music... seriously good job man.
Dude. I just want to say, this video is fantastic. Stumbled upon you on the front page and gave this a watch. Haven't watched anything else you made yet, but you've earned my sub. The detail in the money, what you did, everything is so valuable. Others make patreon pages and such for that.
I don't often comment on videos, normally just enjoy or skip but you sir have made a great video with loads of info, clear and a joy to watch. Thanks, and fantastic advert.
Thanks for doing this video. I learned a few things I had no idea to look for. One is the the V shape, two is the catch light in the eye and three is the outline light to separate the subject from the background. Those three things will definitely improve my lighting and bring out a more professional aspect to my future videos. Again, thanks and keep up the good work.
Thanks so much for your full very honest up-front commentary. It is great to at last hear someone discuss not only the technical breakdown, but where & how the money is spent as well! Refreshing! I've subscribed!
just an fyi you can do auto audio syncing built in premiere! just select and right click all your audio and video in your project manager, create a multicam sequence, choose audio for syncing, and thats it! then if you option/alt double click on the multicam sequence you can see everything synced up
Great video! Love that you discuss the budget details - something NOBODY talks about, but is very important, and a great case study example for people to learn from.
Parker, thank you for this. you really don't know what you are building in me who thinks he can never have any of your equipment but i am preparing so that when the opportunity comes it won't meet me unprepared. That is why your tut has always been a go to learn. Again, THANK YOU!!!
Parker you kill it every time! it's crazy how much stuff goes into these videos behind the scenes and these videos have been really informative, thank you!
I got very emotive after whatch the 4min video. You are awesome Parker. Speaking about commercials for facebook and instagram you should make a video about frame sizes and proportions, 16:94:34:5 etc and your personal preferences for each type of video. Sorry for my english!
People have probably said it before but thanks for giving so much great information to your audience for free Parker, huge respect for being open about figures etc too. I find your videos super helpful and love the way you approach projects, you deserve every success that comes your way! 👍
Parker, I have followed you and Devin Graham every since DevinSuperTramp's "Epic Launch Ramp" video. You and Devin both have been a great inspiration to me. Thank you for doing what you do!
This stuff is golden. I do videos for local businesses all the time! I just have one point and shoot and my iphone though. One day I will get to this level I hope!
Great lighting technique! Light from the sun varies from 2000K at sunset to 7000K for overcast. 5600K is the film standard which is an average, but somewhat arbitrary temp chosen to standardize the film industry on a temp for lighting and specifications.
Hey Parker just wanted to give credit to your video. This is finally a RUclips video that got its content and facts accurate. Really nice and informative tutorial right there!
Thank you Parker for letting us know the price of this video. Being new to the field. I have difficulty knowing where i am in the market. No one wants to talk about the price or the way it charges but then said that many photographers and videographers underestimate the market. Bravo for your initiative and your work is awesome too. I really like the result and the emotion of the final result. thanks for your help
I've always loved ads like the one you filmed, but again I've always wondered if they're effective. Without even describing what the brand offers, it seems like the only thing that would push viewers to check out Nu Skin is pure curiosity. And yeah the ad is great and all, but when you're paying for ad space, isn't that a risky bet? I'm certainly not trying to put this down. I just find it really interesting and I'd love to learn more about this kind of thing.
They're not paying for ad space. As he said, the ad will go in the product description of a online store. The page is going to be full of minute descriptions about the paste; the ad doesn't need it. That's why he said that before deciding anything he asks the clients what kind of ad will it be and where will it be shown.
I watched the 4minute edit and it is absolutely PRISTINE in every possible category. Amazing and and compelling. Great work! My only shock is that you created all this and only charged $8,000. An edit like this would take me a solid week of work easily. How many days did you put into 1500$ worth of editing? I would have guessed this costed an easy $25,000??
Mandoh TV Go check out Aputure Lights Bro, Best Quality LED Lighting For Cheaper Than Most! High CRI rating and looks beautiful with skin tones and everything else. I use them for all of my projects.
I'm Impressed with what you did for that budget, especially the editing. Crew and gear must cost a lot less in your market. Here, the sound mix alone would be $500-$1000. And the Red body by itself rents for $1,000+.
Hey Parker! Hope you’re doing well! I just wanted to leave a comment and express my thanks to you for the awesome content that you share with us. I’ve learned a lot and I have been able to improve my skills little by little. Keep up the work and congratulations on all your successes!

I've seen a lot of people with dope equipment, but they usually either don't do much or what they do is completely mediocre.... honestly your work is excellent! When I was watching the video I was saying to myself "damn he deserves to shoot on red", so I wasn't surprised at all to see you have one (most people ive seen get it just cuz, but you deserve it). I don't really take time writing comments, but this time I had. Keep up the GREAT work man!
Thank you Parker for your share. I always like the way you communicate your technical details. In this video, one thing that i appreciate the most, is you describe your costs. That is very rare.
@@David-ud9ju yes, but he ate his equipment cost. $1500 day rate it great, but when you bring $20,000+ of gear and include that in your $1500 day rate, that is not good. Now if he used just the canon 1dx and a couple cheaper lights, then that's not terrible, but still, there should be a rental fee separate from your day rate. Like someone mentioned before, to rent what he used on the shoot would be almost $2000, so in reality, he lost money.
Dude, just got reacquainted with your work and subscribed...THANK YOU!!! You have NO idea how much this single video has helped me. NOW, if I can just get my hands on a red...
I love how you broke down the budget. Love that. My big question is you have your day rate for you and equipment.... but if you want to rent JUST a RED weapon for 2 days that's roughly $1750. I get that you own it, but you can't get to own a camera like that only charging $1500 and gather $3k lights and sliders, microphones, and a second camera. Day rate seems cool but don't really see how a budget like that is possible with all the equipment you had. Any advice on that?
Actually, it's not uncommon on commercial shoots to charge the client for gear rental, even when the gear is your own. At $8K, this was actually a low-budget shoot and could not accommodate such a line item cost, but I'd bet that Parker and/or his production crew is able to work a gear charge in to help pay for equipment costs. You'd be amazed to see what shoots can cost clients. For a major client on a national campaign, location scouting alone can easily be billed at $3000/day.
Why not? He could do a month's work and have enough money to buy that camera. Presumably he started off with cheaper gear and upgraded once he had enough money.
That's only one job. Imagine he did 10-15 of them in a month. Plus his youtube revenue and specialty courses he offers. He makes damn a lot of money. Plus I'm sure he works with clients that pay much higher considering the equipment he uses. I honestly wouldn't go all-in on my own equipment if I were underpaid. In this instance its not under-payment.
Thank you so much for sharing the budget information. It really helps those of us who are learning and don't have access to professional details like that.
Thanks for breaking down the budget and how it was distributed. No one ever talks about that.
Yeaa
this first video ive seen where a person actually breaks down thier budget
YoungBlaze Of Chitown agreed. Very interesting and a good bench mark as to what to charge!
James Heming hell yeah! So let me grab my iphone and my flash lights, this will. Cost ya 9,000 dollars 💵
Yeah first for me too...it was great to see, excellent break down. The client really got their money's worth here.
Besides the 20,000 dollar RED camera

i know right? but hey youve gotta invest in things youre passionate about
When you're using high end gear like a RED Weapon, 3k for lights isn't much.
Dracast are great too and very good quality/price
This is awesome, thanks for sharing! How do you go about matching the RED footage with the Canon footage in terms of color?

I’m amazed with how much the rode mic destroyed the echo in that room. I was stressed you weren’t adding any blankets. ☺️
I so appreciate your breakdown of the costs and concise explanation of gear. Awesome!
What's crazy to me is how small the budget (and payout) is on this shoot. Creatives deserve to be paid way more.
