New! Bissell Little Green Hydrosteam Spot Cleaner - Steam Extractor

  • I have always wanted a true steam extractor. Not just a heated extractor but something that could produce steam and vacuum it away at the same time for incredible upholstery and carpet cleaning. Well... Bissell, the brand we all know for the popular Bissell Spot Clean Pro just came out with the new HydroSteam Spot Cleaner and I am very impressed. I've searched for similar steam extractors and although there are a few out there, they are extremely expensive and you cant even get close to one for under $1000. BUT, with the new Bissell Spot Clean Hydrosteam we get all those benefits for under $250. Is the machine perfect? No, but it does pack in a ton of value and features for the price. I go in depth on this unit and cover everything from testing the unit to talking about the cord length and comparing it to the Bissell spot clean pro to see which one may be a better fit for you... ENJOY!!!

    I was sold the moment I saw that upholstery brush, I can find a million uses for it in my detailing business. I hate having to get my mytee extractor off the truck just for some spot cleaning, and my steamer with brush attachments works great for spot cleaning but then you leave the area wet and have to vacuum or wipe down a bunch. This will be that perfect middle ground for me when it comes to spot cleaning or even full extractions on smaller vehicles! Thanks for the heads up

    I have a cordless, upright Bissell vacuum and like the product very much but wasn't sure which way to go for a portable carpet cleaner. IMJOSHV did a great, in-depth analysis of the Little Green Hydrosteam product features, and I plan to buy one as a result. One of the best product test videos I've seen. Good job.

      They say the upright Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam vacuum has a hose attachment that comes with it that works just as well as this little green hydrosteam. You should try that out and let us know how it compares.

    That CREVICE tool did it for me! The steam too, but that simple little crevice too is brilliant! I can't tell you how many times over the many years I have been detailing that I said to myself "Man, this would be a whole lot more easy with some type of crevice too for this extractor". As we detailers know, the crevices are where a lot of the dirt, crumb's, grime, etc. collect. Every other manufacturer who makes a hand held (or even a push behind with accessories) should have one of those cool little crevice tools in the box. Even better would have been a slightly more narrow and longer crevice tool! NOW THAT would have been cool! The crevice tools have always been available for the more pricey extractors like the Mytee and those type machines, but never for the small extractors. I will most likely be upgrading at some point in the future to one of these. My daughter just had a baby so I will pass on my old Bissell Pro Heat to her for baby clean ups and spills and I will upgrade to this bad boy! Thanks for posting Josh.

    I think it’s a great option. Use it where necessary. Particularly floor mats. Seats you can spray with the right stain remover then drill brush it and mop up with a towel. As a last resort use this.

    Bro, Great review, I love how you go into detail and cover most; it would have been nice to see a portion done with the bit of head over there to actually see a result and suction quality for this part as well. Agree; the water part before the steam is annoying but definitely worth it in this price range :)

    Looks like they responded to user input and fixed the hose storage. The junction between the hose and grip was a known problem on the Spot Clean Pro. Pressure from how the hose was stored was cited as the problem on most reviews.

  • @ChrisSings
    @ChrisSings 7 месяцев назад +6

    the $200 mccullen steamer is about $199 and also has the water spit issue.
    this can replace that steamer and double as an extractor. I'd rather have my extractor function on a steamer than on a vaccuum with ripclean because the steamer synergizes well with extraction. With the ripclean you are either vaccuuming or extracting, never both, and you have to figure out the waterline connection for the ripclean. This comes built-in. Adding this to my list to watch for sales.

    These are FANTASTIC for new detailers. Awesome they added the hydrosteam feature. For the small capacity clean/dirty tank issue all you have to do is buy additional accessory tanks under Parts for Model 3618 for $33/set. I would buy 2x more of each personally + the sole plate castor wheels! You can hot swap the tanks in & out easily while working on a job. I would recommend buying back up small/large wand tools and their hydrorinse recirculating self cleaning hose tool. I used the Pro version with Superior Products Zap It years ago early on and it paid for itself on the 2nd shampoo job. I paid cash for my heated Mytee 4 months later from the profits. The only downfall to the Bissell models that I didnt like was having to move the unit around alot due to the short hose.

    • @imjoshv
      @imjoshv  7 месяцев назад

      I agree 100% and congrats on the mytee! Thats what i use as well. But like you said, these Bissells are great for the home diyer or for the person starting their business that can invest as much money into a more expensive machine... Get this, start making money, and reinvest like you did!!!

    The condensate aka water coming out is normal for any steam machine. You can’t go from water to steam unless there’s some water discharged. It sort of the warming up the lines if you will…
    Nice video! I may have to get one. Thanks.

    • @imjoshv
      @imjoshv  7 месяцев назад

      Yes thats very true! But some of the more expensive units will have much much less before the steam kicks in. And it seams like this one is an inline heater vs others heat the whole water tank so with those once the steam is ready it should throw much water out. But again, for the price and functionality of this machine its great!

  • @elliotsimpson3591

    That water sputtering at the beginning of spraying steam is exactly why it has a short hose. Any moisture in the hose (which is at ambient temps) is going to condense from steam back into solid water while in the hose and not moving. As the steam warms up the hose over time, less of that water will condense between trigger pulls.
    HOWEVER, this unit is SMALL. Even the Spot Clean Pro has a 1L tank (0.6 gal IIRC) which doesn't last very long. The new unit being even SMALLER than that, putting it on combo steam AND spray will run out FAST and require frequent empties & refills on bigger jobs (let alone carpet cleaning).
    I think the functionality of steam being built in is nice and a great feature, but I feel the unit is still too small and just not practical enough for bigger detailing jobs. I really hope I'm wrong, though, as I'm in the market for a small, portable, similarly-sized unit as this.

I let the machine run for 3 mins which the light for steam was on and the steam comes out warm not hot so the machine does produce steam but just not like my McCullough steamer does so it won’t sanitize an area with heat. Maybe I’m doing something wrong or not letting the machine heat up long enough for hot steam. The unit isn’t defective and is working as it should.

    Interesting, unlike a traditional steamer it's got to evacuate the water that's had time to cool in a tube thats sucking in cold air while in use, so it happens faster than a traditional steamer. The old saying 'A Jack of all trades, a Master of none' comes into play here. It does its job(s) well enough for the home user, as long as the home user is willing to put the time into pretreating and agitating with other tools. I wouldn't get rid of two functional appliances that are really good at what they do for this, and I'm not sure I would consider it if one were to fail while the other is fully functional and in good condition either. I think if you're a light user with neither a spot cleaner or steamer I would consider it, especially for fresh stain pick-up and places a regular carpet cleaner can't get to to remove and sanitize pet stains. Otherwise, the broader range of things I can do, and more precisely with an actual steamer, separate appliances still makes sense; Cleaning window tracks, bathroom and kitchen sanitization stain and crud busting.

    Why won’t anyone say that the stream of steam is slightly warm and there are no wheels from below and the engine blows directly into the floor and overheats.

    Hello, I ordered the Bissel hydromsteam spot product. What is the difference between it and spot clean pro? Can you help me?

    • @AmiAki
      @AmiAki 2 месяца назад

      - Well main difference is Hydrosteam has a steam function and the Pro doesn’t.
      - Both have the same hose length.
      - Pro comes with 2 head attachments different sizes (but can also buy extra attachments)
      - Hydrostream has 3 attachments and a self-rinse attachment (think it depends on when you got it or country. Cuz from some videos I’ve seen ppl only got two attachments same in this video )
      - Pro has far better suction but I should also point out the Pro is way louder than the Hydrosteam.

    My concern is now the detergent liquid is in steam floating in the air and user breaths in the chemical. So it should now not limited to skin safe but lung safe.

    • @martijnvandenheuvel5651
      @martijnvandenheuvel5651 Месяц назад

      No, pet pro, pro etc are doing a much better job on extraction, I did send the hydrosteam version back, suction power is less, and I had issues with the wide extraction tool for carpets, a little pressure, and It did come loose evertime :/

    • @mirali93
      @mirali93 Месяц назад

      @@martijnvandenheuvel5651 thanks for the response. I see the hydrosteam uses almost double the amps as the pet pro. That’s why I asked. So you’re sure the hydrosteam has less suction power?

    • @martijnvandenheuvel5651
      @martijnvandenheuvel5651 Месяц назад +1

      @@mirali93 I am sure, because i used both.
      Also on the Dutch website from Bissell it says 'medium suction power', in the specs from the pro (and pet pro etc) it says high suction power.
      Yes, the hydrosteam has higher amps, because it needs to heat the water for the steam function I guess. Only downside from the pro is the noise, much higher as the hydrosteam.

  • @vermontmotorsports1275

    IMO these aren't applicable for professional detailers. I bought the Bissel extractor when I was first starting out and within my first detail I was super frustrated. The suction on the wand is garbage and the tank is so small that you are constantly dumping and/or refilling the unit. Get a Mytee head attachment for you vac and that combined with the McCulloch, etc etc you will see much more efficient results. But that's my opinion

    • @imjoshv
      @imjoshv  7 месяцев назад +20

      Yea I agree with you 100%. But for those that are tight on budget or just for the diyer these make sense. I have to extractors.. one from adams and then I have the mytee lite 2 as well. Then I also have the rip clean vacuum extractor kit as a back up

    • @altillman1448
      @altillman1448 7 месяцев назад +16

      U can combine the Mytee head attachment to Mculloch 1375 steamer?

    • @altillman1448
      @altillman1448 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@unknown_user4463 No. You can however add a clear static suction only wand to any shop vac and use the mcullough for steam seperately. Thus combining their efforts to get similar results. There is also the Rip Clean shop vac update option if want to go that route to get the addional benefit of a fluid spray head below the suction wand.
