@kingpolo1920, not sure if they would do it as it does not seem to be part of the theme. Also, I have been in there three times (once in September, twice this month) and yes the sections stay the same generally but the product on the floor definitely changes. I went in two weeks ago, picked up a vintage snowspeeder, he said they had just got it in on a trade the day before and had mentioned to one of the employees how they never seem to stay long if they pick one up, here I was a day later buying it. The vintage toys (figures and vehicles) for the big 70’s-80’s toy lines definitely seem to change a good bit between my stops. It does make it interesting to look and see what is there at the time. If they do a tour of the store I would still watch, I know there is a bunch of stuff I missed and there will be some new pickups or stuff that they have put out. The store is also jam packed with items (not the floor itself, you can definitely move around easy enough) but there is a lot out there, shelves are stacked. Sort of reminds you of the Toys R Us days.
Did you know that 80 or 90 dollars is the same thing as $100? Your patience is astounding! It's a wonder you just don't have a slip of paper you can write down your estimates on. Great episode. The staff at the shop all seem very fair and patient as always. Could you imagine going through everyone’s collection they bring in? I would tell them 50$ just to look through it, think of the knowledge they gain from learning about what they have, thats worth a lot
I really enjoyed the first Podcast Ryan and an insight into the store, these Saturday videos are fantastic and the podcast are equally fun informative and entertaining, morning to you guys from the UK
It can definitely be a pain to resell yourself, but with over twice the potential profits I’m reselling it myself everytime. I get the guys who buy in bulk and are looking for a quick profit or storage locker guys, but collectors selling at half or less value is crazy (I get why you do it that way, you are a business).
It all comes down to quantities and time. When someone brings 2-3 expensive items into my store, I encourage them to sell themselves, because the time it takes to list two things is worth the extra return. But on a collection of dozens/hundreds of items, the math stops working in their favor. Between organization, photos, listing, answering questions, and buying shipping supplies/making trips to the post office, you can easily lose those extra hundreds in profit via time spent.
Yay! My Saturday morning boost🙌🏽 great as always.. some deals can’t always go through. But I feel he was asking for way too much. Can’t wait to listen to another podcast episode 😜👌🏽
@@toyfederation yep, done and done! Here in London UK loving the videos. I know they’re probably gonna be flash in the pan in the long term but would love your thoughts on Funko pops, the good/bad (not just the fact they clog up so much space) some mad prices for some, so much dead stock everywhere, and yet some of them are still so appealing, also brilliant for autographs! Wonder if they’ll ever be as derided as most beanie baby’s?
my favorite is when people say 'i could have gotten xxxxx much for it on eBay!!" its like. Okay, then go do that. Oh right, you don't want to because then you need to put the work into listing it, finding a buyer, shipping it, and then dealing with the possibility of a return and of course ebays 15% fee that they take.
I assume from what I just seen he wanted $200 in trade and then another $100 cash?Or did he want half and half like he wanted you to add up the trade value and then do half of that in cash and the rest in trade. He kept saying "Like I always do..." well if he is a normal customer he should know the process of the payment/trade system.
Splitting the deal up into some cash and some trade was the issue , he couldn’t figure it out In his head even though it was explained very clearly I thought
TF's buying formulations are just going to be confusing to many customers the way they go about it. Sometimes they pay 50% cash, and sometimes its 50% credit. And that depends on if it is vintage or modern, low demand or high demand, or how many they have in the back. And then they act like there cash to trade value formula is some sort of secret, and they just can't tell the customer. And then they act like they have to go back behind the counter to figure out what the trade would be. I'm also a business that buys toys and I also mostly buy at 50% value in cash normally. I think generally that is very fair. But I don't care if it is vintage or modern. If it is a $100 toy that I can sell for $50, I just give you $50 cash; doesn't matter when it was made, its a $100 toy. If I have 20 of them in inventory, its because they aren't selling, which means it isn't a $100 toy. Lower the price to what it really is for them to move. If you want to trade for something, multiply that cash by 1.3. Done. Now the customer knows where they stand. So if the offer is $200 cash for all your Transformers, $260 would be trade value. You want to get a $100 figure in trade and the rest in cash; 260-100=160/1.3. $123 cash plus your $100 figure. And these 5 toys were of zero value to me because they are broke or painted, I put them all in this box. You can keep them if you want and the offer stays the same, or I'll take them if you don't want to take them back home. Easy, straight forward, customer doesn't get confused. They can shop with their phone out and do the conversion on their own. It shouldn't be rocket science or confusing.
This one was hard to watch however some collectors get held up on the perceived value. Yes items can sell for X amount, but how much work and time is put into getting that price. If you go to a store you will never get close to the perceived value on anything, I have a close friend who ran a successfully comic book shop in the late 80s and all of the 90s. He still has a lot of the old store stock after shuttering the business. When you buy collections it comes with a risk for resale and sometimes you are left holding items. Therefore the lesson here is you will never get full perceived value on your collectables as the shop buying it is taking on risk to resell it and cover business expenses and quite frankly profit margins. The private collector can always sell on website services themselves, but then they have to deal with taxes, website fees, and buyer issues in order to get that higher sale price amount. Oh and patience. Lots and lots of patience.
This looks like the reason you guys do good and have the store because you’re willing to deal with the arduous processes from third-partys reminds me of pawnshops in the beginning forming the people’s banks P.s. sleeves and regular size T-shirts am I in the right place
Great video, and keep them coming along with your patience!!!! The problem I keep seeing is that every collector thinks their stuff is the best stuff!!! They also always over value their collections and have strong attachments to the collection!!! In most cases, they want to trade in the stuff that is not very marketable to get something that is!!! You guys have alot of patience dealing with these sellers!!! What collectors need to understand is that it's only worth what somebody's willing to pay for it, and like my uncle always told me it's not worth anything until you have the money in your hand!!! It took me many years of collecting to finally figure that out!!!
Man that guy totally wasted your time. He went through all that and even agreed on the price than backed out. You all are way more patient than me. Props to you all for keeping your cool.
My hat's off to anyone running a shop like this these days all the variables you have to deal with, the operating costs, the wonky economy, jeez I'd go bonkers
What’s even more silly was that he was trying to sell Walmart and Target dumps as if he could resell it to a reseller.😆 Then Ryan says “yeah we bought a hundred of these yesterday” lol. The person thought he was smart for scooping them for cheap when They were doing the same thing as well.🤣
Fun episode. It's interesting to watch you have to reason with a collector/seller. I know its hard for people to let go of things they bought. Whether it's for the money or the love of the thing the reality of selling something yourself or selling to a shop is a hard pill for some to swallow, but it is what it is. Buying and selling for years I can tell you guys are fair players. Thanks for the content!
I know what you guys due is a lot of work and there's a lot to it. I saw the podcast ......But you still get to play with toys every day as your job the greatest job ever🎉
resell value is crap. I have a couple also but know I won’t get crap for them if I try to sell them. Also Bayverse bots suck. Just my opinion on that last one.
People are being a bit mean to the guys who came in but I think it's that they're not good on camera, they're acting a bit shy and guarded accidentally it seems
I might be wrong but I think he really overvalue everything and he knew...I feel like he even admit when he brought up the supergirl superman box. The tf1 movie masterpiece has crazy low value imo and I really feel like you gave him a very good offer for them but again he overvalue them.
Wow, how can you not understand what he wanted?? It was so simple. He wanted 60% of trade on the starscream with half cash on the other figure, while half trade on 39% of trade value near the closest whole dollar, and cash for 12% of the GameStop version, divided by 3.14. Get it together guys.
Next time keep lowering the price until they leave. Your mistake was being nice and giving an extra $20 who's there only to kick tires. Even if he'd gotten what he wanted he'd still be a headache on whatever he was going to trade for.

You guys are amazing and keep up the good work!
Yep….Walmart only in the mornings!
15:13 Who’s got the nose 👃 whistle hahaha
You guys going back and fourth on the MP confused me to the point of no return LOL. I can't imagine being there involved in it LOL
This guy tried getting top dollar “eBay listing” prices while at the same time being difficult as hell.
scalper is the answer your looking for
Hey the guy entertained him so don't blame the guy your trying to make money just like the business
@@mjj8560 he’s in the wrong place to think he’s going to walk away with top dollar at a brick and mortar establishment
This looks like the reason you guys do good and have the store because you’re willing to deal with the arduous processes from third-partys reminds me of pawnshops in the beginning forming the people’s banks
P.s. sleeves and regular size T-shirts am I in the right place
Found you guys a week ago, now I'm hooked. Love the content, keep it coming. Just wish I lived near you guys, but then I'd probably go broke.
My morning treat.Thanks, Ryan.
Morning!
You guys are always professional. If I'm ever near you I am dropping in to get something. I would love to support your business.
I learn something new everyday in the nerd world from these guys and I love it
Man that guy totally wasted your time. He went through all that and even agreed on the price than backed out. You all are way more patient than me. Props to you all for keeping your cool.
The editing with the podcast inserts was awesome and it will bring more to the awesome pod 👍🏻
Never stop floor sorting.
You can't quote top ebay prices anymore. They take such a huge chunk of the sale. I stopped selling on ebay because of it. It's quite ridiculous.
My hat's off to anyone running a shop like this these days all the variables you have to deal with, the operating costs, the wonky economy, jeez I'd go bonkers
Love the show. Can’t wait to watch the podcast, and awesome” not arcade” shirt
What’s even more silly was that he was trying to sell Walmart and Target dumps as if he could resell it to a reseller.😆
Then Ryan says “yeah we bought a hundred of these yesterday” lol. The person thought he was smart for scooping them for cheap when They were doing the same thing as well.🤣
"Not Arcade" shirt a Billy Mitchell reference? ;)
You know it
Awesome video! Watching this from Boston and I would love to eventually come to the store.
This was really frustrating to watch. Need to put up a white board so customer can write down his position and store can write down theirs.
That's a great idea
It would only be needed for pea brains like that bloke & even then he probably still wouldn't get it.
That was a cool video. I liked how you handled yourself Ryan. You're a true professional.
2:26 damn, i need that Superman after the deceased figure. Been looking for it.
I really need to make the trip one of these days
I know what you guys due is a lot of work and there's a lot to it. I saw the podcast ......But you still get to play with toys every day as your job the greatest job ever🎉
new episode of the podcast is up now!
Woa this had my head spinning. Awesome video guys!
Bye bye, don’t let the door hit you on the way out, seriously some people have sawdust between their ears, cheers for sharing and keeping it real.
Adding the podcast to the videos is a great idea!
A GREAT SHOW, TODAY, MORE FROM A BUSSINESS POINT OF VIEW!!! THANK YOU ALL 4 A GREAT SHOW!!!!❤😂🤎🤣🙏🫶👍❤️
Lesson of the day. If your going to to collect MP transformers don’t get Bayverse
Why not? I got a few in my collection
@@RID01S sell them fast they are crap no resale
MP 01 has more resale than G1 Fortress Max
resell value is crap. I have a couple also but know I won’t get crap for them if I try to sell them. Also Bayverse bots suck. Just my opinion on that last one.
Well the Movie MP figures are always cheaper too... so that guy just needs to sell it himself if he wants anything close to eBay.
@@TheWickedOne5150 oh, I don’t usually sell transformers but I do have a few Bayverse mp’s mostly upscale Ko. Black Apple Optimus Prime is my favorite
People are being a bit mean to the guys who came in but I think it's that they're not good on camera, they're acting a bit shy and guarded accidentally it seems
I have that with classic Lego sets that I buy. The ad says it's 100% complete, but most of the time it's not. But, I always calculate that stuff in.
This is a great channel. I wish all the vids were longer!
we just uploaded a new podcast episode that's 45 minutes long!
I might be wrong but I think he really overvalue everything and he knew...I feel like he even admit when he brought up the supergirl superman box. The tf1 movie masterpiece has crazy low value imo and I really feel like you gave him a very good offer for them but again he overvalue them.
If I was Ryan I’d told that guy imma pass on all of it
I love when the seller says “I know you have to make money” and then they want more money than fair value for you to resell.
#NotMyStarscream... Another great Saturday morning episode!! Thanks guys!
when you do the lions share of the work...this episode is a perfect example of why toy federation is what it is
That's R.I.D. Transformers ultra magnus.
Norway checking in 🇧🇻😎
That's awesome! Remember, Podcast at 9:15!
Yup they understood alright! That's why he took his collection back home with him!😂
🤣 you made me bust out laughter in middle pizza shop as was eating. Well done
lol
I want to sell my house and spent the proceeds in your establishment.
Enjoying the podcast dudes! Keep them coming.
you guys are in a class of your own. excellent content.
Next time keep lowering the price until they leave. Your mistake was being nice and giving an extra $20 who's there only to kick tires. Even if he'd gotten what he wanted he'd still be a headache on whatever he was going to trade for.
