🇧🇴 South America has a reputation for danger and violence. And so whilst on my short stay in Bolivia I decided to take a cable car up to El Alto which is a part of La Paz known by locals as a place for theft and violence. Would I survive with my camera? Watch and find out...

Seriously, when the locals warn you about areas of LaPaz, you need to pay attention. The guy at 10:46 wasn't a "gopnick", he was trying to help you.

South America is no joke, if you do this at night for long enough, the best thing can happen to you is being robbed at gun point.

Going into “dangerous” former soviet areas where you are familiar with the language, culture, and able to assess a situation well is very different to knowing if you might be in danger as a tourist in South America.
Dangerous doesn't mean that you are going to get mugged, kidnapped or killed right away. Just that the probability is a lot higher.
Going there and saying "See here, nothing happened to me" is like smoking and saying "See here, I am still alive".
Oh and that "gopnik" was warning you that you will get killed for the camera. You got lucky bald, don't push it man.

I feel like Latin America is way way more dangerous than Eastern Europe. Theres a reason why those countries have the highest murder rates. I might be prejudiced because I grew up in Honduras, but dang dude, when you have not only old people, but tons of random young people walking up to you and trying to warn you with absolutely no prompting, that just gives me extreme anxiety. I would not even walk into the hood of the town I grew up in. Just be careful in Latin America bald. Tons of nice people, but too many that want to do harm, especially as a gringo who doesn't speak the language

The gopnik was warning you lol, the majority of people are good but it is dangerous to do what you are doing, those people tell you that because they know what can happen.
Luckily you didn't get robbed.
I lived in LATAM for years and when people tell you not to go to certain areas, it's better to listen. I saw many cases of European and American backpackers not listening the locals only to see them again on the news after their dead bodies had been found. Be careful and I hope you have a safe trip
