Solo On Bogota's Dirtiest Street 🇨🇴

  • 🇨🇴 Having checked into my hotel in the centre of Bogota I decided to go and take a walk around and see what the city had to offer. What I found was a place littered with rubbish, toxic smells and well, let's just say the world's oldest profession. However despite all that the people were extremely friendly and we met some Venezuelans who told me what to expect on my journey to their country. Join me on a street tour like no other...
This is part four of the Latin America journey from Cusco to Caracas.

I begin to understand bald's style: Walk tall, walk confidently, talk loud, act friendly to all, draw attention to himself. Bad guys are unlikely to mess with someone who has the full attention of the neighbourhood. And, oh yes, don't stop for long, keep on moving, and move quickly ! Love his stuff !

I'm from El Salvador. It's mainly about not going out alone at night in obvious sketchy places. Go to busy nightcluby places if you want to experience nightlife. The locals will tell you where you can't go. During the day just have common sense. 99% people don't want to fuck with you and just want to go about their day. Just be aware of your surroundings on the streets and you'll be okay.

What Ben shows us is that wherever you go in the world 99% of people are friendly, happy to chat and good humoured. I've found the same wherever I've gone. The bit you have to worry about is how dangerous the 1% are. Ben is a polyglot - he is fluent in Russian, his Spanish is good enough to have conversations with people - and that's what makes the video so enjoyable - hearing from the "person on the street" (literally!). I'd love to visit Colombia but I wouldn't be as brave as Ben wandering around some ot those streets.

Omg THANK you it was bugging me what he was trying to tell Benjamin! I knew it was something about the car… And death and a contest lol this makes sense he was just trying to show him some art! -and also, through comments I read the two Bogotá RUclipsrs on the motorcycle were just trying to warn him of where he was going! It’s dangerous. 😆 but Benjamin thought they were robbers! He just didn’t know who they were.

I think the scariest thing I ever done was walk from Chico to Chapiniro when I was in Bogota at about 2AM. All these cab drivers were following us wanting us to get in. We walked by the Spanish Embassy and there were a couple of guys in full body armor with masks and machine guns just standing outside in the dark. My buddy just walked around casually like the guy in the video. I gather that Bogota has two or three good parts and the rest is pretty scary. It was around New Years though and we got to see the display on top of Monserate. That was neat.

Benjamin has experienced more of life on earth than a million people combined. And we , the audience, we are very lucky to be allowed to watch his experiences because he is also incredible at being a intuition based journalist documenting everything with a camera. Documenting everything that other journalists tends to ignore. ❤💪 😎

Wow. What a place. I reckon that speaking passable Spanish seriously helped you, whilst you strolled around some incredibly rough looking streets. A language barrier is the last thing one would want in a place like that.
You have outstanding social skills... everyone was very friendly towards you. Goes to show not to judge a place just from how it looks and smells.

As someone who has lived his entire life in Bogotá, I think the most dangerous moment of all the video was that turn at 9:26. That's definitely a street you wouldn't want to get yourself into. All the other places are somehow dangerous too, but as long as you get out of them quickly, you'll be fine.

As someone who grew in Bogotá and lived there for a lot of years, I would like to point out that Bald went to a really bad neighborhood, the problem with poverty and lack of hygiene on the streets is normal to see in some parts of the city but not everywhere and I would like to point out as well that there are really nice places in Bogotá to visit .

While you did the right thing by being cautious of them, they are good people and admire your content. Nice video
