      You simply do not understand price formation. The Vision Pro is very reasonably price for what it is while the Q3 reached that price through subsidization. The thought process here seems to be "big number not worth it, small number worth it," that's not how reasonable people consider the worth of anything.

    • @paulAntill
      @paulAntill Месяц назад +1

      @@r.m8146fair point. I think there are use cases that will make each headset either worth more or less to each person. Being lucky enough to try both side by side for a weeks in this video, from my perspective, I can say the Quest 3 does the main things I want which are productivity and gaming. While it’s not apple to apples, it’s close enough for what I need, that I would not pay 5 times the price for the Apple Vision Pro, despite me liking it better for productivity and entertainment.

    Just curious about the resolution when video editing. I also have a Quest 3 and I love it for gaming ,but not as much for everything else. I'm full in on the apple ecosystem. I'm picking up an AVP used and trading my M4 11' iPad Pro to bring down the price. My main reason for wanting the AVP is for pairing with my 13inch MacBook Air and video editing. The resolution on the Quest using Horizon Workrooms, Immersed, or any of the Remote Desktop apps just isn't enough for me. It's simply too blurry unless I bring the windows too close. Things are legible, but annoying enough to counter any productivity gains. Is the experience much better on the AVP? I also like the idea of going into an isolated zone and zeroing in on writing without distraction. That's another bonus for the AVP. What was your experience editing?

    • @paulAntill
      @paulAntill Месяц назад +2

      I have done several 4+ hour video editing sessions in Davinci Resolve and even edited this exact video in the headset.
      I experienced that blurriness at first, but I think a combination of screen position, size, and resolution plays a big role. Is it as sharp as my 49in ultrawide? No, but it’s much larger and I can still read small font.
      I think internet stability also plays a big role. There are settings in the immersed app both in the headset and on your desktop client to increase the resolution and streaming quality. I have everything set to max and it looks sharp enough for the most part. Now, going into this challenge, I was actually expecting the Vision Pro to be sharper for productivity. It might be overall, but it’s not that big of a noticeable improvement as I thought it’d be.
      Instead, what makes the AVP feel “better” is how seamlessly it connects to my Mac, how responsive it always is, and how it just works. Every few sessions with Immersed, I have to troubleshoot why it’s not connecting or why it’s stutters. Not a deal breaker, but it’s another selling feature of the Apple ecosystem. Let me know if you have any other questions.

      @@paulAntill i've been using the vision pro for the past 48 hours. my mind is blown. like you said, the apple ecosystem is the biggest seller. i still love the quest for gaming, but everything else is now apple vision pro. what an illuminating experience. you're also right regarding the resolution. the clarity difference wasn't as significant as i thought it would, be it's big enough that i prefer working on the vision pro more.

  • @jdarg4163
    @jdarg4163 2 месяца назад +6

    The Quest 3 is better as you i mimic the Apple Vision Pro which a app called the Spatial App and it also has Apple TV+ just which a slightly lower resolution screen and the games and apps on the Quest 3 is very vast compared to what Apple offers and the Quest 3 get better with new features every single month and the vision pro doesn't and I have a headphone jack o my Quest 3 which allows me to connect the headsets audio to my soundcard and straight through to Logic Pro X as I sometimes make beats on my Quest 3 and I also use virtual instruments and the vision pro does not offer a headphone jack which Apple could of exploited if they decided to develop logic pro for the headset as its industry standard software

    • @paulAntill
      @paulAntill Месяц назад

      The lack of audio pass through seems like a BIG missed opportunity. In part, I wonder if it was to keep latency down, but I think it might be as simple as them wanting to sell more airpods? But yes, when it comes to working on projects with audio, the Vision Pro could have made that a huge selling feature.

    Great review. But both cannot be compared. Quest is really the top gaming VR device while AVP is more on productivity and media viewing. but AVP really is too expensive and I wouldn't suggest it to anyone unless they really love the immersion and use and have some spare to invest/splurge on. And I wouldn't suggest Quest either if they weren't really into games.

    After watching your review I finally understand why the price tag is so high - along with the apple tax its most likely all the proprietary app developments and royalties they've had to shell out to both devs and their parent companies to create such seamless interfaces for the vision pro
    While the quest's short comings is that it has to use a browser and 2D optimized interfaces in order to access youtube and other streaming platforms (along with older hardware), Apple went the extra mile and a half to make sure all the main streaming services and entertainment apps were fully fleshed out. Because of this the quest doesnt have to deal with those fees and is hoping that as VR matures, other companies will handle the optimizations for them, whereas Apple, being known for their complete and premium devices regardless of price was willing to perfect virtually all aspects of the base VR experience - not a terrible choice, and would've had a better outcome for them if VR had a bigger market

      There’s really no question, Apple TV+, Disney/Hulu and HBO alone make this incredible for entertainment. Sadly Quest doesn’t have anything close to this yet, and I’m not sure it ever will. You either need to use a browser, download the media, or use a 3rd party app. It’s not as easy to just find or stream your favorite content.

      I think for it to justify the $2000 for me, I’d want it to do more than it already does. It would either need to be very good for actual VR gaming, or have similar app/program support as full MacOs, to use this as more of a dedicated laptop for “real” work. I think we’re getting to the point that it’s powerful enough, it’s just Apple doesn’t want to cannibalize their other products.

      This might be Apple’s way of asserting themselves as the dominant premium VR player. It starts very expensive, but eventually settles on being expensive with their future releases.
