One of my favorite games of all time. Prior to that season, I had almost given up hope that I'd ever see Michigan win a National Championship and complete a perfect season. It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing. For the Rose Bowl, I didn't have tickets, and I was biding time at my mother-in-law's traditional New Year's Day party when I finally excused myself. A few people asked why I didn't want to say, and I said -- as diplomatically as possible -- "Michigan is playing for its first national championship in half a century, and I need to watch this one by myself." I told them not to take it personally, but I don't' think they could really understand unless they remembered Michigan's '71 season, and its '73 season, and…you get the picture. GO BLUE!
These two videos are the greatest videos ever.Period.
In the stadium that day, time stood still in the 4th quarter, especially after to$u scored and cut the lead to 6. I remember looking up at the scoreboard in the south end zone with 13+minutes to go and just
quietly praying for the clock to run. That was the most tense atmosphere I've ever experienced in that stadium. My stomach was in knots until Germaine threw that last incompletion.
The whole day was surreal. Unbelievable. Damn, I can't wait for the season to get here!
I can imagine what you were going through.....11/27/21 was like that for me. And it's definitely my favorite Michigan football moment, especially when I got on the field afterwards to celebrate with the Wolverines. GO BLUE!
easy to remember woodson in this game; he set up a score on the deep cross catch, scored a td on the punt return, denied a tosu td (which turned out to be huge) on the pick. but on the other side, antoine winfield played one hell of a game. 10 tackles i think. he was a warrior on that horrible, chewed up sod that day. the bucks' defense was awesome-held um under 200 total yards... osu wasn't much better on offense (250-ish?) you usually don't lose game when your d performs like that, unless you give up a punt return td and a pick 6. a 6 pt loss, kinda like what i saw from section 39 9 days ago. lol
thx for posting this video I saw my friend Leanudre Brown make a few plays.
I remember sitting in my family room at 12 years old thinking WE'RE GOING TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! Whatever has transpired in the past 10 years cannot take that memory away from me! My fireplace will always be the place I found out Michigan was going to play for the National Title.
Here's to many more!
Thanks, WH! What a day that was. On the field after the game, I screamed at Andre Weathers, "You did it! You won the game! blahblahblah!" Of course, my voice was so hoarse, he had no idea what I was saying and just looked at me like I was nuts. Let's start the season!!!
I have wondered why Woodson's Heisman-clinching heroics are not quite as remembered well as Howard's in 1991.
This was a closer game than 1991's and Woodson's plays were more timely (Michigan already had a huge lead when Howard ran back the punt).
I like how almost all of the highlights were on defense. Hopefully we can get back to that style of football!
Whatever happened with Boston
Anyone else notice who gave Lloyd Carr that big hug at the end??
Yep.
stupid ass penalty at 3:22 most people don't celebrate when they're losing 20-6.
cant wait for OSU to be at the Browns stadium
Michigan fans do have these 90's videos.
@RJman101 You mean five conference games? I think it's a strong possibility, but at this point I think 4-4 in conference is more likely.
